In detail, by using operator based robust right coprime factorization approach, the control system design structures including feedforward and feedback controllers for both SISO and MIMO nonlinear uncertain systems are given, respectively. In which, the controller design includes the information of PI hysteresis and its inverse, and some sufficient conditions for the controllers in both SISO and MIMO systems should be satisfied are also derived respectively. Based on the proposed conditions, influence from hysteresis is rejected, the systems are robustly stable and output tracking performance can be realized. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is confirmed by numerical simulations.展开更多

The design employs feedback linearization, coupled with two high-gain observers: the first to estimate the feedback linearization error based on the full state information and the second to estimate the unmeasured states of the system when only the system output is available for feedback. All the signals in the closed loop are guaranteed to be uniformly ultimately bounded(UUB) and the output of the system is proven to converge to a small neighborhood of the origin. The proposed approach not only handles the difficulty in controlling non-affine nonlinear systems but also simplifies the stability analysis of the closed loop due to its linear control structure. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the approach.展开更多

The uncertainties/disturbances rejection problem for SEAs is addressed from the view of a continuous nonlinear robust control development. Specifically, based on the analysis of a nonlinear SEA, the generic dynamics of SEA systems is described and a novel nonlinear control framework for SEAs is constructed. Then a RISE(robust integral of the sign of the error)-based second-order filter is introduced to synthesize the control law. Moreover, the control performance is theoretically ensured by Lyapunov analysis. Finally, some experimental results are included to demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed control method, in terms of transient response and robustness.展开更多

The tracking performance of the EHLS is mainly limited by the actuator's motion disturbance, flow nonlinearity, and friction, etc. The developed controller is developed based on the nonlinear motion loading model. The problems of the actuator's disturbance and flow nonlinearity are considered. To address the friction problem, the friction model of the loading motor is identified experimentally. The friction disturbance is compensated using the obtained friction model. Therefore, this paper considers the main three factors comprehensively. The developed algorithm is easy to apply since the controller can be obtained just with one step back-stepping design. The stability of the developed algorithm is proven via Lyapunov analysis. Both co-simulation and experiments are performed to verify the effectiveness of this method.展开更多

The proposed strategy controls the tipspeed ratio, via the rotor angular speed, to an optimum point at which the efficiency constant (or power coefficient) is maximum for a particular blade pitch angle and wind speed. This control method allows for aerodynan^c rotor power maximization without exact wind turbine model knowledge. Representative numerical results demonstrate that the wind turbine can be controlled to achieve near maximum energy capture.展开更多

The designed adaptive controller compensates a general class of actuator failures without any need for explicit fault detection. The parameters, times, and patterns of the considered failures are completely unknown. The proposed controller is constructed based on a backstepping design method. The global boundedness of all the closed-loop signals is guaranteed and the tracking error is proved to converge to a small neighborhood of the origin. The proposed approach is employed for a two-axis positioning stage system as well as an aircraft wing system. The simulation results show the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed robust adaptive actuator failure compensation approach.展开更多

Static loading is an essential function of the load simulator and widely used in the static/dynamic stiffness test of aircraft actuation systems. The tracking performance of the static loading is studied in this paper. Firstly, the nonlinear mathematical models of the hydraulic load simulator are derived, and the feedback linearization method is employed to construct a feed-forward controller to improve the force tracking performance. Considering the effect of the friction, a LuGre model based friction compensation is synthesized, in which the unmeasurable state is estimated by a dual state observer via a controlled learning mechanism to guarantee that the estimation is bounded. The modeling errors are attenuated by a well-designed robust controller with a control accuracy measured by a design parameter. Employing the dual state observer is to capture the different effects of the unmeasured state and hence can improve the friction compensation accuracy. The tracking performance is summarized by a derived theorem. Experimental results are also obtained to verify the high performance nature of the proposed control strategy.展开更多

This recent trend is further justified by the fact that the robotic manipulators have complex nonlinear dynamic structure with uncertain parameters. Highlighting the authors' research achievements in the domain of manipulator design and control, this paper presents a systematic and comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art control techniques that find enormous potential in controlling manipulators to execute cutting- edge applications.
