The microstructure characteristics of 7075 aluminium alloy semisolid slurry at different stirring speeds prepared by the FCR process were analyzed. The experimental results suggest that with the increase of the stirring speed, the mean grain size of the semisolid decreases and the shape factor as well as the number of primary grains increase. Meanwhile, the preparation process of semisolid slurry was numerically simulated. The flow characteristics of the melt in the device and the effect of the stirring speed on temperature field and solid fraction of the melt were investigated. The simulated results show that during the preparation process of semisolid slurry, there is a complex convection within the FCR device that obviously changes the temperature field distribution and solid fraction of the melt. When the convection intensity increases, the scope of the undercooling gradient of the melt is reduced and temperature distribution is improved.展开更多

First, the error between the aerodynamic resistances of the pantograph obtained by numerical simulation and wind tunnel test is less than 5%, which indicates the accuracy of the numerical simulation method. Second, the original pantograph and pantographs equipped with three different baffles are numerically simulated to obtain the aerodynamic forces and moments of the pantograph components.Three different angles for the baffles are-17°, 0° and 17°.Then the multibody simulation is used to calculate the aerodynamic uplift force of the pantograph, and the optimal range for the baffle angle is determined. Results show that the lift force of the baffle increases with the increment of the angle in the knuckle-downstream condition, whereas the lift force of the baffle decreases with the increment of the angle in the knuckle-upstream condition. According to the results of the aerodynamic uplift force, the optimal angle of the baffle is determined to be 4.75° when the running speed is 350 km/h, and pantograph–catenary contact forces are 128.89 N and 129.15 N under the knuckledownstream and knuckle-upstream operating conditions, respectively, which are almost equal and both meet the requirements of the standard EN50367:2012.展开更多

It can be used to analyze the distribution of the temperature filed and the flow filed in the centrifugal casting under the gravity, the electromagnetic stirring force and the centrifugal force. Some experiments were carried out to verify the above analysis results. The effects of the electromagnetic force on the centrifugal casting process are discussed. The results showed that under the 0.15 T electromagnetic field intensity, both the absolute pressure of metal flow to mold wall and the metal flow velocity on the same location have some differences between the electromagnetic centrifugal casting and the centrifugal casting. A formula is derived to express the relation between fluctuating velocities and the friction drag coefficient. With the application of electromagnetic force, the in-depth relations among the fluctuating velocities near the wall, Reynolds stress, and the effect of drag reduction for different Reynolds numbers are discussed. The results indicate that the maximum drag reductions can be obtained with an optimal combination of parameters for each case of different Reynolds numbers. The fluctuating velocities along the streamwise and normal directions are suppressed significantly, while the fluctuating velocity along the spanwise direction is enhanced dramatically due to the spanwise electromagnetic force. However, the values of Reynolds stress depend on the fluctuating velocities along the streamwise and normal directions rather than that along the spanwise direction. Therefore, the significant effect of drag reduction is obtained. Moreover, the maximum drag reduction is weakened due to the decay of control effect for fluctuating velocities as the Reynolds number increases.展开更多

So electromagnetic force is very important, especially when large current is applied. In most of previous models, the electromagnetic force is calculated analytically,in which only the axial component of current is considered. Actually the radial component of current has thesame effect, and may be advanced in some locations. In double-sided arc welding process, instead of the earthclamp, another torch is placed on the opposite side; the current will go from one torch, through the weld zone,to another torch. In this case, the current is more concentrated in the weld zone; the electromagnetic force willhave significant effect compared with conventional welding process. In this paper, a new method of numericalcalculation for electromagnetic force is developed, in which both axial and radial components are considered. And asan example, the distribution of electromagnetic force in double-sided arc welding is calculated. It demonstrates thatthis new method could give more accurate simulation of electromagnetic force, and is close to the actual process.展开更多

The diameter of the downstream main cylinder (D) was kept constant, and the diameter of the upstream control cylinder (d) varied from 0.1D to D. The studied Reynolds numbers based on the diameter of the downstream main cylinder were 100 and 150. The gap between the control cylinder and the main cylinder (G) ranged from 0.1D to 4D. In this study, the 3D finite difference method and non-staggered grid system for fluid flow with body fitted coordinate were employed. Numerical results show that the electromagnetic force mainly affects the steel flow at upper part of mold, especially in the vicinity of meniscus. There exist upward flows covering the surfaces of the billet due to the concentration of electromagnetic force on the upper part of the billet. This flows join together and form a downward flow near the SEN, so a distinct circulating flow zone is formed at upper part of mold. After applying electromagnetic force, the steel velocity is improved and the temperature is raised. The strong stirring of electromagnetic force on liquid steel makes the kinetic energy on free surface increase. It is clearly seen that the solidification start point shifts downward in soft contact mold. As a result, the initial shell thickness gets thin and the initial solidification shell length is shortened.展开更多

If the passing process of an automobile is divided into many time segments, so as to avoid the use of moving mesh which takes large calculation resource and CPU processing time in calculating, the segments are simulated with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method, then the approximate computational results about external flow field will be obtained. On the basis of the idea, the change of external flow field of wagon-shaped car at the moment of passing is simulated through solving three-dimensional, steady and uncompressible N-S equations with finite volume method. Numerical simulation analysis of side force coefficient, stream lines, body surface pressure distribution of wagon-shaped car are presented and a preliminary discussion of aerodynamic characteristics of correlative situations is obtained. By comparison, the curve is coincident well with the experimental data, which shows creditability of numerical simulation methods presented.展开更多

And the processing experiment was proceeded to verify the reliability of the established model. The simulation result indicates that besides radial and axial flows, there also exists rather large tangential flow, which results in an increase of forming force in tangential direction. Furthermore, the un-uniform deformation of metal during spin-forming would cause forming defects, such as underfill in tooth fillet region and indentation on the outside spun part.展开更多

A direct numerical simulation (DNS) of the turbulent control is performed by imposing the spatially oscillating spanwise Lorentz force. Under the action of the Lorentz force with several proper control parameters, only the periodi- cally well-organized streamwise vortices are finally observed in the near-wall region. The Reynolds shear stress decreases dramatically, especially in the near-wall area, resulting in a drag reduction.展开更多

文摘Based on the Fourier–Chebyshev spectral method, the control of turbulent channel flow by space-dependent electromagnetic force and the mechanism of drag reduction are investigated with direct numerical simulation(DNS) methods for different Reynolds numbers. Moreover, the maximum drag reduction is weakened due to the decay of control effect for fluctuating velocities as the Reynolds number increases.

文摘The FDM numerical simulation software,ViewCast system, was employed to simulate the low pressure die casting(LPDC)of an aluminum wheel.By analyzing the mold-filling and solidification stage of the LPDC process, the distribution of liquid fraction, temperature field and solidification pattern of castings were studied. The potential shrinkage defects were predicted to be formed at the rim/spoke junctions, which is in consistence with the X-ray detection result. The distribution pattern of the defects has also been studied.A solution towards reducing such defects has been presented. The cooling capacity of the mold was improved by installing water pipes both in the side mold and the top mold.Analysis on the shrinkage defects under forced cooling mode proved that adding the cooling system in the mold is an effective method for reduction of shrinkage defects.

文摘The flow past two tandem circular cylinders of different diameters was simulated using the finite volume method. It is concluded that the gap-to-diameter ratio (G/D) and the diameter ratio between the two cylinders (d/D) have important effects on the drag and lift coefficients, pressure distributions around the cylinders, vortex shedding frequencies from the two cylinders, and flow characteristics.

文摘A coupled model including electromagnetic field, fluid dynamic, heat transfer and solidification, is developed and applied to the numerical simulation of steel flow and solidification in a 100mm × 100mm soft-contact mold. As a result, the initial shell thickness gets thin and the initial solidification shell length is shortened.
文摘This paper analyzed the characteristics of welding solidification crack of stainless steels, and clearly re- vealed the the of the deformation in the molten - the pool and the solidification shrinkage on the stress - strain fields in the trail of molten - weld pool. Moreover, rheologic properties of the alloys in solid - liquid zone were also obtained by measuring the hading and unloading deform curves of the steels. As a result, a numerical model for simulation of stress - strain distributions of welding solidifi- cation crack was developed. On the basis of the model, the thesis simulated the driving force of solidifi- cation crack of stainless steels, that is, stress - strain fields in the trail of molten-weld pool with fi- nite element method.

文摘In this paper,a numerical investigation of a float-over installation for an offshore platform is presented to verify the feasibility of the actual installation. The hydrodynamic performance of a T-barge is investigated in the frequency domain, and the coupled motions are analyzed in the time domain. We then compare with those of the model test and determine that the response amplitude operator and the time series agree quite well. The barge exhibits favorable hydrodynamic behavior in the considered sea state, and the equipment loads are allowable.Themooring systemand sway fender forces are within the permissible range.Based on these results,we can verify that the actual installation of the offshore platform is feasible. We accurately simulated many important factors and effectively reduced the risk associated with the offshore installation, which is of great importance. As such,we demonstrate that the numerical simulation of the float-over installation for offshore platforms has practical engineering significance.

文摘In the course of studying on aerodynamic change and its effect on steering stability and controllability of an automobile in passing, because of multi interaction streams, it is difficult to use traditional methods, such as wind tunnel test and road test. Finally, the C3 -x/l curve of side force coefficient(C3) of car following relative distance (x/l) between cars is obtained. By comparison, the curve is coincident well with the experimental data, which shows creditability of numerical simulation methods presented.

文摘The cyclic symmetry and local fine-mesh technology were adopted in the establishment of numerical simulation model for inner gear spin-forming. And the processing experiment was proceeded to verify the reliability of the established model. The simulation result indicates that besides radial and axial flows, there also exists rather large tangential flow, which results in an increase of forming force in tangential direction. Furthermore, the un-uniform deformation of metal during spin-forming would cause forming defects, such as underfill in tooth fillet region and indentation on the outside spun part.

文摘A formulation of the skin-friction drag related to the Reynolds shear stress in a turbulent channel flow is derived. The Reynolds shear stress decreases dramatically, especially in the near-wall area, resulting in a drag reduction.
