The disease manifests itself with developmental and mental delays, learning disabilities, microcephaly, facial dysmorphism, bilateral cataracts, and skeletal defects. It is caused by the deficiency of the enzyme sterol-C5-desaturase, which is involved in cholesterol biosynthesis. This deficiency prevents the synthesis of cholesterol, which acts as a precursor for lipid, bile acids, and steroid hormones. Until 2020, only 7 cases had been reported. In this case report, it was aimed to plan and implement the nursing care of a 2-year-old boy diagnosed with lathosterolosis with the diagnoses of the North American Nursing Diagnostic Association (NANDA).展开更多

How far this EBP has progressed in different health aspects is usually established by systematic reviews of RCTs. Nurse-led RCTs exist but no study has addressed the essentials of nursing care. Aim: The aim was therefore to determine the essentials of nurses’ interventions by means of nurse-led RCTs in somatic care focusing on the stated context, goals, content, strategies as well as the nurse’s role related to effectiveness. Methods: A systematic review was realized according to Cochrane review assumptions to identify, appraise and synthesize all empirical evidence meeting pre-specified eligibility criteria. The PRISMA statement guided the data extraction process (n = 55) from PubMed and CINAHL. Results: Of the RCTs in somatic care, 71% showed a positive effectiveness of nurse-led interventions, of which the nurse had a significant role with regard to being the main responsible in 67% of the studies. Also, 47% of the RCTs presented a theoretical standpoint related to the nurse-led interventions and most prominent were international evidence-based guidelines. Goals were found to have either a patient-centered or a professional-centered ambition. Strategies were based on patient-directed initiatives, nurse-patient-directed initiatives or nurse-directed initiatives, while contents were built upon either a patient-nurse interaction or a nursing management plan. Conclusions: This review underlines the necessity of a holistic view of a person, as nurse-led RCTs comprising a patient-centered ambition, patient-directed initiative and patient-nurse interaction plan showed beneficial nursing care effectiveness, particularly if theory-based. In a nurse-led RCT, a basic theoretical perspective is advantageous as well as to elucidate the role of the nurse in relation to the estimated effects.展开更多

文摘BACKGROUND The brain is the most complex organ in the human body.Treatment for a glioma always involves a multi-disciplinary team.Nursing care in fast-track surgery or enhanced recovery after surgery is such kind of work implemented by an interdisciplinary team to provide services to patients to improve their outcomes.AIM To explore the effects of nursing care in fast-track surgery on postoperative pain, psychological state, and patient satisfaction with nursing for glioma.METHODS From June 2018 to June 2020,138 patients who underwent operation for glioma at Cancer Hospital Affiliated to Chongqing University were selected. They were categorized into groups according to different nursing care that they received.Of them,69 patients receiving nursing care in fast-track surgery were included in an experimental group, and 69 patients receiving conventional postoperative nursing were included in a control group.Visual analogue scale was used to evaluate postoperative pain in the two groups immediately after the operation and at 3 d after the operation.Self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)and self-rating depression scale(SDS)were used to evaluate the psychological status of patients immediately after operation and on the 3rd postoperative day.A self-made satisfaction scale for patient satisfaction with nursing was used to evaluate and compare patient satisfaction with nursing between the two groups.RESULTS Time to excretion, time to out-of-bed activities, and length of hospital stay were significantly shorter in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in duration of operative time or intraoperative bleeding between the two groups(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in postoperative pain score between the two groups(P>0.05).The pain score was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group at 3 d after the operation(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in postoperative SAS or SDS score between the two groups(P>0.05).SAS and SDS scores were significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group at 3 d after operation(P<0.05).The rate of patient satisfaction with nursing was 94.2%in the observation group, which was significantly higher than that(81.2%)of the control group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Nursing care in fast-track surgery can relieve postoperative pain, anxiety, and depression, and improve patient satisfaction with nursing in patients with glioma, which is worthy of clinical application.
文摘This report introduced and summarized the nursing care experience for a senior patient with lung cancer and developed programmed cell death protein 1(PD-1)immunotherapy-related myocarditis combined with coronary heart disease(CHD)after receiving said treatment. In this case, immune myocarditis with CHD occurred shortly after implementing the PD-1 immunotherapy, yet the patient presented no clinical symptoms.Frequent nursing attention and close observation are so required for monitoring the patient’s status and updating the physicians for a swift control of the myocarditis. For this case, nursing care procedures vital for the successful recovery of the patient included condition observation, position management,pre-and postcoronary angiography care, infection prevention, hemorrhage prevention, venous access port maintenance, pain care, trachea care, psychological care, diet care, environment management, and health education. After receiving effective, successful treatment and care, the patient was discharged after 13 days of treatment with generally satisfying overall conditions.
文摘At present, patients with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID‑19)are showing a surge in the world,to explore the clinical characteristics, treatment, and care of different types of COVID‑19.The authors reviewed the existing literature, selected, and analyzed the diagnosis and treatment records of 11 patients with COVID‑19 who were initially cured, including patient information, clinical manifestations, auxiliary examination results, treatment principles, nursing evaluation, nursing goals, nursing diagnosis, and nursing measures, and found clinical similarities and differences in the care of different types of patients.Among them, nine patients recovered and discharged after receiving treatment, and two died.As there is no specific medicine, only symptomatic treatment and supportive treatment can be given.Eleven common nursing measures and special nursing measures of different levels were carried out for patients diagnosed with mild, common, severe, and critical illnesses, and different treatment methods were given according to the severity of signs and symptoms.By summarizing the similarities and differences of clinical nursing interventions,we hope to help improve the quality of care for patients diagnosed with COVID‑19.

文摘This paper reviews the causes of knee osteoarthritis, traditional Chinese and Western medicine therapies and nursing research progress and indicates that traditional Chinese and Western medicine have gradually recognized the cause of knee osteoarthritis. Knee osteoarthritis has been treated with various treatments and nursing care planning, and the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine has constantly been improved. Nurses should instruct the discharged patient to correctly treat their disease, adopt the health education, and, via the establishment of a healthy lifestyle, insist on a functional exercise to relieve the pain, delay disease progression, and improve quality of life.
文摘Background: Nursing practice has to contribute to evidence pointing out why there is a need for more nurse-designed randomized control trials (RCTs) focusing on evidence-based practice (EBP). In a nurse-led RCT, a basic theoretical perspective is advantageous as well as to elucidate the role of the nurse in relation to the estimated effects.
文摘Objectives:While receptive art engagement is known to promote health and wellbeing, active art engagement has not been fully explored in health and nursing care. This review is to describe the existing knowledge on art making and expressive art therapy in adult health and nursing care between 2010 and 2020.Methods:Relevant studies and grey literature were searched and identified between March 17 and April 10,2020 from EBSCO,CINAHL,Medline and ERIC databases and a general Internet search.Following data charting and extraction, the data(n=42 papers)were summarized and reported in accordance with PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Results:In the included papers, both art making and expressive art therapy were seen in different health care and nursing contexts:yet not the home care context. The emphasis of art activities were group activities for chronically or terminally ill residents, adults aged 65 years or older.A focus on personal narrative was often seen, which may explain why art activities appear to be linked to acknowledging and building new strengths and skills, making meaning of experiences, personal growth, symptom alleviation, and communication;all used to foster collaboration between patients,patients’near-ones and health care professionals. Conclusions:Art activities appear to be suitable for every context and can promote personcenteredness and the measurement of nursing outcomes, and they should be considered an essential part of health and nursing care, nursing education and care for health care personnel.
文摘The prognosis of heart failure (HF) patients has significantly improved in the last 20 years, given the advent of therapies such as angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors/angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), beta-block- ers, and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD)/cardiac resynchronization therapy devices (CRT). In addition to these promising therapies, proper nursing-care is also important. Here we summarize recent progress of nursing-care strategies in older HF patients, including routine nursing care, transitional care model, self-care, and role of exercise training in old patients with HF.

文摘Minimally invasive surgeries, including laparoscopic, endoscopic, and robotic surgeries, have gained great popularity and have gradually replaced conventional open surgeries.Commonly, patients may have perioperative psychological issues such as anxiety, depression, sleep disturbance, and delirium.A comprehensive literature review was conducted to identify how these psychological issues occur in minimally invasive surgeries and how nurses can take better care of patients to alleviate these issues.Only papers focusing on psychological issues during the perioperative period were included in the re-view,and preexisting issues before the setting of surgical treatment plan were not discussed.Compared to conventional surgeries, the incidence of postoperative anxiety, preoperative depression, and sleep disturbance is lower in minimally invasive surgeries, the incidence of postoperative depression may be higher with limited evidence, and the incidence of preoperative anxiety and delirium is inconclusive.Systematic perioperative nursing programs not only alleviate psychological issues, but also reduce postsurgical complications and accelerate recovery. However, special nursing programs to handle delirium are lacking.
文摘This study was carried out on a sample of 100 patients attending outpatient oncology center in Basra governorate located in south of Iraq. In order to assess their satisfaction with nursing care quality and identify the relationship between their satisfaction rate and selected variables. The results showed that high satisfaction rate for the technical quality 87 (87%) followed by interpersonal communication dimension 86 (86%) while the lowest satisfaction rate was for the information given by the nurse 64 (64%). There were no statistical differences among the age of the patients, their education, their marital status and occupation. Furthermore, the satisfaction level with nursing care except for females who reported significantly higher level of satisfaction with nursing technical quality.
