Background: Few published work has investigated the relative risks of social participation, demographic, socioeconomic and disease factors with malnutrition in community-living older people, this study is to investigate the associations of these risk factors on the nutritional status in better nutrition support for the old age group. Design: A crosssectional study. Methods: It was a secondary analysis of a database in a mobile community centre between January 2008 and December 2009. One thousand seven hundred and thirty one participants aged between 54 and 103 were collected. With 319 full Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) completed, the participants’ demographic, socio-economic data, diseases, and nutritional status were analyzed with relative risk and 95% confidence interval level to identify the factors that make them vulnerable to nutritional risk. Results: The prevalence of malnutrition in the community-dwelling old was 3.95% and 83.7% of the sample was at risk of malnutrition. Living on allowances, young old who was socially engaged and good relationship with family members were at less risk to malnutrition. Conclusions: Special attention should be taken to these groups as they are prone to develop malnutrition.展开更多

Considering the existing dilemma faced by old communities and based on the practice of community renewal of different scales in recent years, this paper proposes that the design for community renewal should consider not only the spatial structure of communities at the macro level, but also the needs of daily life at the micro level. It can help efficiently transform the existing space into public space that encourages residents’ participation and promote community vitality, to achieve a humanistic value beyond the physical environment.展开更多

In order to reveal how the "social capital" affects the public participation and social governance in the process of community micro-regeneration in China, this paper takes two old communities in Chaoyang District of Beijing as examples, to compare the impacts of various social capital levels on participatory community planning and design. The study proves the significance of community social capital and community self-government for the success of residents’ participation and community regeneration, as well as providing suggestions on how to improve public participation effects by strengthening social capital of communities.展开更多

She would then cycle to the real estate maintenance station in search of suitable workers to do repairs, or talk to the people in charge about long-term solutions. This year’s rainy season, however, she spent most of her time sitting in the office drinking tea.

文摘4 elderly care service stations in Zhanlan Road Street,Xicheng District,Beijing are selected, and questionnaires are designed and distributed to the surrounding elderly population to understand their needs and satisfaction with the station environment.By observing elderly care service stations on site, the characteristics, obstacles, and shortcomings of the environment are recorded, and relevant data are collected and analyzed, such as the characteristics of the elderly population being interviewed, the planning and design data of the station environment, and the distribution of service facilities. The overall characteristics of the spatial environment of elderly care stations are summarized, and renovation measures and optimization suggestions are provided for the current shortcomings, thereby providing some basis for the spatial design of community elderly care service stations in the future.
文摘Aims: To identify the impact of social participation, socio-demographic, socio-economic and disease factors on nutritional risk among older persons in Hong Kong. Conclusions: Special attention should be taken to these groups as they are prone to develop malnutrition.

文摘From the perspective of big data such as Baidu heat map and GIS kernel density analysis, this paper analyzed the gathering situation of residents of Dashiyuan at different times and the use of public service facilities,as well as problems existing in the old community of Dashiyuan in Nanchang City, and put forward targeted recommendations.
文摘As urban renewal shifts to more routine community renewal, the design methods of community renewal are faced with new challenges. Considering the existing dilemma faced by old communities and based on the practice of community renewal of different scales in recent years, this paper proposes that the design for community renewal should consider not only the spatial structure of communities at the macro level, but also the needs of daily life at the micro level. It can help efficiently transform the existing space into public space that encourages residents’ participation and promote community vitality, to achieve a humanistic value beyond the physical environment.

文摘Along with the rise of democratic consciousness and the slowdown of urbanization and economic growth speed, the community development path in contemporary China is under transition, aiming at a more bottom-up and small-scale planning and design process. In order to reveal how the "social capital" affects the public participation and social governance in the process of community micro-regeneration in China, this paper takes two old communities in Chaoyang District of Beijing as examples, to compare the impacts of various social capital levels on participatory community planning and design. The study proves the significance of community social capital and community self-government for the success of residents’ participation and community regeneration, as well as providing suggestions on how to improve public participation effects by strengthening social capital of communities.

文摘The biodiversity of natural or semi-natural native, old oak woodlands have high conservation importance, especially in landscapes of monocultural forest plantations and arable fields. With a wider variety of microhabitats and foraging sources, such old oak forests can provide essential habitat for native forest bird communities. We conducted a study using bird point counts to compare the forest bird communities of old pedunculate oak(Quercus robur)remnants with native and non-native plantations in central Hungary in a landscape of mostly arable fields, settlements, and monocultural plantations.Avian surveys were carried out in old oak forest remnants,middle-aged oak, white poplar(Populus alba),hybrid poplar(Populus×euramericana),black locust(Robinia pseudoacacia),and pine(Pinus spp.)plantations.Fieldwork has been carried out in nine study sites, where all six habitat types were represented(with a few exceptions),to determine total abundance, species richness,Shannon–Wiener diversity, species evenness, dominant and indicator species, and guild abundances. We found that old oak forest remnants were the most diverse habitats among the studied forest types, while hybrid poplar and pine plantations exhibited the lowest avian biodiversity. The avian guilds most sensitive to the loss of old oak forest remnants were ground foragers, bark foragers,cavity-nesters,residents,and Mediterranean migratory birds.Native habitats were more diverse than non-native plantations. Our results suggest that it is important to conserve all remaining high biodiversity old oak stands and to avoid clear-cutting of monocultural plantations in favour of practices such as mixed-species plantations, longer rotation lengths,or retention forestry.
