Clinical risk factors for preterm birth and evaluating maternal psychology in the postpartum period

BACKGROUND Although the specific pathogenesis of preterm birth(PTB)has not been thoroughly clarified,it is known to be related to various factors,such as pregnancy complications,maternal socioeconomic factors,lifestyle habits,reproductive history,environmental and psychological factors,prenatal care,and nutritional status.PTB has serious implications for newborns and families and is associated with high mortality and complications.Therefore,the prediction of PTB risk can facilitate early intervention and reduce its resultant adverse consequences.AIM To analyze the risk factors for PTB to establish a PTB risk prediction model and to assess postpartum anxiety and depression in mothers.METHODS A retrospective analysis of 648 consecutive parturients who delivered at Shenzhen Bao’an District Songgang People’s Hospital between January 2019 and January 2022 was performed.According to the diagnostic criteria for premature infants,the parturients were divided into a PTB group(n=60)and a full-term(FT)group(n=588).Puerperae were assessed by the Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and Self rating Depression Scale(SDS),based on which the mothers with anxiety and depression symptoms were screened for further analysis.The factors affecting PTB were analyzed by univariate analysis,and the related risk factors were identified by logistic regression.RESULTS According to univariate analysis,the PTB group was older than the FT group,with a smaller weight change and greater proportions of women who underwent artificial insemination and had gestational diabetes mellitus(P<0.05).In addition,greater proportions of women with reproductive tract infections and greater white blood cell(WBC)counts(P<0.05),shorter cervical lengths in the second trimester and lower neutrophil percentages(P<0.001)were detected in the PTB group than in the FT group.The PTB group exhibited higher postpartum SAS and SDS scores than did the FT group(P<0.0001),with a higher number of mothers experiencing anxiety and depression(P<0.001).Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that a greater maternal weight change,the presence of gestational diabetes mellitus,a shorter cervical length in the second trimester,a greater WBC count,and the presence of maternal anxiety and depression were risk factors for PTB(P<0.01).Moreover,the risk score of the FT group was lower than that of the PTB group,and the area under the curve of the risk score for predicting PTB was greater than 0.9.CONCLUSION This study highlights the complex interplay between postpartum anxiety and PTB,where maternal anxiety may be a potential risk factor for PTB,with PTB potentially increasing the incidence of postpartum anxiety in mothers.In addition,a greater maternal weight change,the presence of gestational diabetes mellitus,a shorter cervical length,a greater WBC count,and postpartum anxiety and depression were identified as risk factors for PTB.

Application of Color Psychology in Korean Brand Identity Design-Etude House

The purpose of this analysis is to delve into the application of color psychology in the logo design of Korean cosmetic brands,using Etude House as an example for an exhaustive analysis.By examining the history of the Etude House brand,the evolution of the logo design,and the changes in color choices,we analyze the traditional concepts of color symbolism in Korean culture and the culture of color in contemporary society in order to reveal the important role of color in cosmetic brand image.Through an in-depth analysis of the use of color in Etude House’s brand identity,we further analyze the impact of color on consumer emotions and purchasing behavior,as well as the potential impact of brand identity changes on market performance.Finally,the conclusions of the analysis summarize the practical application of color psychology in Etude House’s brand logo design,suggest recommendations for other Korean cosmetic brands to draw upon in their logo design,and discuss future directions.

Research on the Generation Path of Heuristic Teaching Language Based on Positive Psychology Theory

As the essence of traditional Chinese educational thought,heuristic teaching has gradually enriched and devel-oped its ideas through the continuous efforts of educational researchers of the past dynasties.In front-line teach-ing,heuristic teaching,as a teaching principle that can help teachers and students to interact and learn,undoubtedly plays an important role in students’acquisition of knowledge and scientific thinking activities.But teachers’understanding of heuristic teaching is not the same.In actual teaching,there are obvious gaps in language ability among different teachers.This research aims to enrich the heuristic teaching theory based on the perspective of psychology,and provide a certain theoretical basis for teacher training.Through the research and analysis of the generation path of the heuristic teaching language,this paper helps more teachers realize the advantages of the heuristic teaching language,improve their own heuristic teaching language level,and provide reference for the scientific teaching evaluation standard.We apply the heuristic instruction language approach proposed in this study and apply it to real classrooms.In the application,it can be clearly found that the students’thinking and participation have been strengthened,and the teaching effect has been significantly improved com-pared with the past,which indicates that the heuristic teaching language generation path in this study has certain practical application value.

Comparison of Self-Strength, Seeking Help and Happiness between Pakistani and Chinese Adolescents: A Positive Psychology Inquiry

Adolescents’emotions and preferences are influenced by their childhood experiences.In today’s world,there is a pervasive eagerness for happiness.Happiness has been linked to feelings of self-strength,seeking help,and psy-chological health.The current quantitative research was designed with a positive psychological perspective to compare Pakistani and Chines adolescents’self-strength,seeking help,and happiness.The research design of the study was causal-comparative.The study population consisted of 400 Pakistani and 409 Chinese adolescents studying in the elementary grades of both countries.The sample was selected by using a simple random sampling technique.It consisted of 413 boys(51%)and 396 girls(49%),319(39)of them were from the age group of 13–14 years,386(48%)of them were from the age group of 15–16 years,and 104(12.9%)were from the age group of 17–18 years.Three different scales were developed to collect study data.Independent sample t-test and simple linear regression were used to test study hypotheses.The analysis revealed that Pakistani adolescents have signifi-cantly higher self-strength,seeking help and happiness than their counterparts.It was also found that adolescents’self-strength and seeking help significant affect their happiness.Based on thefindings,it was suggested to inves-tigate the factors contributing to the improved self-strength,seeking help,and happiness of Pakistani adolescents.It was also recommended to investigate the mediating effect of adolescents’self-strength on the relationship between their happiness and seeking help.

The Big Five Theory is often regarded as psychology’s most influential personality theoretical approach.The goal of this study is to examine the role of the Big Five Theory in the workplace,especially which personality qualities are more likely to predict work success.Which traits should companies emphasize throughout the hiring and selection processes?How can businesses use the Big Five personality model to locate employees that are more productive,efficient,and devoted to the organization’s goals?A detailed assessment of existing recent research addresses the aforementioned issues.Following a review of many current articles on the subject,it was established that using this model had a positive influence on individual and group performance,working relationships,manager work performance,and workplace innovation.

Transformation Design of Old Parks Based on Behavior Psychology: A Case Study of Hefei Xiaoyaojin Park

City park undertakes the function of urban core green island. Hefei Xiaoyaojin Park providesa leisure and entertainment place for Hefei citizens. Although it has been continuously transformed andupgraded, there are still many places to be improved. Through behavior observation and questionnaire,the usage and satisfaction evaluation of tourists in Xiaoyaojin Park were obtained, and the transformationdesign of Xiaoyaojin Park was analyzed from the perspective of behavior psychology by analyzing thebehavior of tourists in different zones of Xiaoyaojin. Based on the premise of exploring the behaviorof tourists in different spaces, a city park environment that meets the needs of tourists can be created bypromoting the cultural context of the Three Kingdoms, improving the plant landscape and infrastructureof the site, optimizing the spatial function, and exploring the park design and transformation strategy that ismore in line with the needs of people, in order to provide new ideas for the future landscape transformationof Xiaoyaojin park, and offer reference suggestions for the future transformation design of old city parks.

Designing interactive glazing through an engineering psychology approach:Six augmented reality scenarios that envision future car human-machine interface

Background With an increasing number of vehicles becoming autonomous,intelligent,and connected,paying attention to the future usage of car human-machine interface with these vehicles should become more relevant.Several studies have addressed car HMI but were less attentive to designing and implementing interactive glazing for every day(autonomous)driving contexts.Methods Reflecting on the literature,we describe an engineering psychology practice and the design of six novel future user scenarios,which envision the application of a specific set of augmented reality(AR)support user interactions.Additionally,we conduct evaluations on specific scenarios and experiential prototypes,which reveal that these AR scenarios aid the target user groups in experiencing a new type of interaction.The overall evaluation is positive with valuable assessment results and suggestions.Conclusions This study can interest applied psychology educators who aspire to teach how AR can be operationalized in a human-centered design process to students with minimal pre-existing expertise or minimal scientific knowledge in engineering psychology.

Effects of psychological intervention on negative emotions and psychological resilience in breast cancer patients after radical mastectomy

Breast cancer(BC)is the most common malignant tumor in women,and the treatment process not only results in physical pain but also significant psychological distress in patients.Psychological intervention(PI)has been recognized as an important approach in treating postoperative psychological disorders in BC patients.It has been proven that PI has a significant therapeutic effect on postoperative psychological disorders,improving patients'negative emotions,enhancing their psychological resilience,and effectively enhancing their quality of life and treatment compliance.

Analysis of Status and Influencing Factors of Psychology Resilience Level in Cancer Patients Undergoing Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy

Objective:To analyse the status and discuss influencing factors of the psychology resilience level of cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy,and to provide evidence for clinical rehabilitation intervention.Methods:A total of 320 patients with cancer undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy who were hospitalized in the Affiliated Hospital of North China University of Science and Technology and Tangshan Worker’s Hospital in China from September 2022 to November 2022 were selected as the research subjects.The surveys were conducted using the general information questionnaire,Connor-Davidson Scale(CD-RICS),Perceived Social Support Scale(PSSS)and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale(PSQI).Results:The psychology resilience score of cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy was 64.23±15.20,lower than the average level of resilience of adults in China(70.50±13.48)and American adults’normal value(80.4±12.8).Perceived social support was 58.13±14.04 and positively correlated with the level of psychology resilience(r=0.210,P<0.05).Sleep quality was 10.57±4.85,which showed most people have sleep quality disorder and was negatively correlated with the level of psychology resilience(r=-0.200,P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that age,education level and disease stage were the main influencing factors in the level of psychological resilience in cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy(P<0.05).Conclusions:The level of psychological resilience of cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy is at a low level,and there are many influencing factors.Targeted medical care should be carried out according to the factors affecting the level of resilience to promote the mental health of patients.

Effects of intensive psychological intervention on treatment compliance,psychological status,and quality of life of patients with epilepsy

BACKGROUND Epilepsy is a nervous system disease characterized by recurrent attacks,a long disease course,and an unfavorable prognosis.It is associated with an enduring therapeutic process,and finding a cure has been difficult.Patients with epilepsy are predisposed to adverse moods,such as resistance,anxiety,nervousness,and anxiety,which compromise treatment compliance and overall efficacy.AIM To explored the influence of intensive psychological intervention on treatment compliance,psychological status,and quality of life(QOL)of patients with epilepsy.METHODS The clinical data of 105 patients with epilepsy admitted between December 2019 and July 2023 were retrospectively analyzed,including those of 50 patients who underwent routine intervention(control group)and 55 who underwent intensive psychological intervention(research group).Treatment compliance,psychological status based on the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and Depression Scale Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)scores,hope level assessed using the Herth Hope Scale(HHS),psychological resilience evaluated using the Psychological Resilience Scale,and QOL determined using the QOL in Epilepsy-31 Inventory(QOLIE-31)were comparatively analyzed.RESULTS Treatment compliance in the research group was 85.5%,which is significantly better than the 68.0%of the control group.No notable intergroup differences in preinterventional SAS and SDS scores were identified(P>0.05);however,after the intervention,the SAS and SDS scores decreased significantly in the two groups,especially in the research group(P<0.05).The two groups also exhibited no significant differences in preinterventional HHS,Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC),and QOLIE-31 scores(P>0.05).After 6 months of intervention,the research group showed evidently higher HHS,CD-RISC,tenacity,optimism,strength,and QOLIE-31 scores(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Intensive psychological intervention enhances treatment compliance,psychological status,and QOL of patients with epilepsy.

Application of Contemporary Educational Psychology in University Education

At the present stage,in the field of education in China,universities are able to produce more high-quality talents for national construction.In the discipline of psychology,educators can effectively achieve the set teaching goals by using contemporary educational psychology.At present,influenced by traditional concepts and exam-oriented education,there are still more practical problems to be solved in the stage of psychology education in various higher education institutions in China.This paper briefly outlines the current situation of psychological education in colleges and universities,and analyzes the significance and means of applying contemporary educational psychology.

Psychological interventions for depression in children and adolescents:A bibliometric analysis

BACKGROUND Depression has gradually become a common psychological disorder among children and adolescents.Depression in children and adolescents affects their physical and mental development.Psychotherapy is considered to be one of the main treatment options for depressed children and adolescents.However,our understanding of the global performance and progress of psychological interventions for depression in children and adolescents(PIDCA)research is limited.AIM To identify collaborative research networks in this field and explore the current research status and hotspots through bibliometrics.METHODS Articles and reviews related to PIDCA from January 2010 to April 2023 were identified from the Web of Science Core Collection database.The Charticulator website,CiteSpace and VOSviewer software were used to visualize the trends in publications and citations,the collaborative research networks(countries,institutions,and authors),and the current research status and hotspots.RESULTS Until April 16,2023,1482 publications were identified.The number of documents published each year and citations had increased rapidly in this field.The United States had the highest productivity in this field.The most prolific institution was the University of London.Pim Cuijpers was the most prolific author.In the context of research related to PIDCA,both reference co-citation analysis and keywords co-occurrence analysis identified 10 research hotspots,including thirdwave cognitive behavior therapy,short-term psychoanalytic psychotherapy,cognitive behavioral analysis system of psychotherapy,family element in psychotherapy,modular treatment,mobile-health,emotion-regulation-based transdiagnostic intervention program,dementia risk in later life,predictors of the efficacy of psychological intervention,and risks of psychological intervention.CONCLUSION This bibliometric study provides a comprehensive overview of PIDCA from 2010 to present.Psychological intervention characterized as psychological-process-focused,short,family-involved,modular,internet-based,emotionregulation-based,and personalized may benefit more young people.

Application of psychological intervention in intensive care unit nursing for patients with severe acute pancreatitis

BACKGROUND Severe acute pancreatitis(SAP)is a familiar critical disease in the intensive care unit(ICU)patients.Nursing staff are important spiritual pillars during the treatment of patients,and in addition to routine nursing,more attention needs be paid to the patient’s psychological changes.AIM To investigate the effects of psychological intervention in ICU patients with SAP.METHODS One hundred ICU patients with SAP were hospitalized in the authors’hospital between 2020 and 2023 were selected,and divided into observation and control groups per the hospitalization order.The control and observation groups received routine nursing and psychological interventions,respectively.Two groups are being compared,using the Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Self-Determination Scale(SDS),Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation(APACHE)Ⅱ,and 36-item Short Form Health Survey(SF-36)scores;nursing satisfaction of patients;ICU care duration;length of stay;hospitalization expenses;and the incidence of complications.RESULTS After nursing,the SDS,SAS,and APACHEⅡ scores in the experimental group were significantly lower than in the control group(P<0.05).The SF-36 scores in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The nursing satisfaction of patients in the experimental group was 94.5%,considerably higher than that of 75.6% in the control group(P<0.05).The ICU care duration,length of stay,and hospitalization expenses in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group,and the incidence of complications was lower(P<0.05).CONCLUSION For patients with SAP,the implementation of standardized psychological intervention measures can effectively alleviate adverse psychological conditions.

Effects of psychological nursing in Parkinson's related depression patients undergoing functional magnetic resonance imaging:A randomized controlled trial

BACKGROUND Patients with Parkinson’s disease(PD)often experience depression,and some may require magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)for diagnosis,which can lead to MRI failure due to claustrophobia.AIM To explore the value of psychological interventions in successfully completing functional MRI scans of the brain for PD-related depression.METHODS Ninety-six patients with PD were randomly divided into two groups.The control group(47 patients)received general care,and the experimental group(49 patients)received general care combined with psychological care.The Unified Parkinson's Disease Assessment Scale(UPDRS),Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),and Geriatric Depression Scale(GDS)-15 scores,heart rate,systolic blood pressure,and MRI-Anxiety Questionnaire(MRI-AQ)scores before and after the scan were recorded.The completion rate of magnetic resonance(MR)scanning,scanning duration,and image quality scores were recorded.RESULTS Before scanning,no statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups in terms of heart rate,systolic blood pressure,and UPDRS,HAMD,GDS-15,and MRI-AQ scores.After scanning,systolic blood pressure,MRI-AQ score,and scan time in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group,whereas the scan completion rate and image quality score were significantly higher than those in the control group.CONCLUSION Psychological nursing interventions are helpful in alleviating PD-related depression and assessing MR depression scores and may be helpful in the successful completion of functional MRI scans of the patient's brain.

Unlocking the power of physical activity in easing psychological distress

The severity of the current global mental health situation and the importance of maintaining psychological well-being call for more powerful,convenient,and efficient solutions for addressing psychological issues and relieving mental stress.Physical activity not only effectively improves physical fitness and reduces negative emotions such as anxiety and depression but also increases the improvement of psychological health and sense of well-being.At the same time,physical activity interventions for mental health have unique advantages,including reducing the side effects of psychological interventions and increasing necessity,convenience,and cost-effectiveness,as well as flexible adaptability across multiple methods,groups,and age ranges,providing stronger support for relieving psychological stress and addressing psychological issues.Although physical activity is an important intervention measure in relieving psychological stress,its value and role in mental health care seem to have not yet received sufficient attention,and its potential remains to be further revealed.Given the significant advantages and effectiveness of physical activity in mental health intervention practices,it is necessary to stimulate its potential in relieving psychological stress through various means in future studies to better safeguard the public’s physical and mental health.Developing guidelines for physical activity for improved mental health,enhancing organic integration with other intervention measures,and providing necessary respect,encouragement,and support are important directions to consider.

Effect of a systemic intervention combined with a psychological intervention in stroke patients with oropharyngeal dysfunction

BACKGROUND Stroke frequently results in oropharyngeal dysfunction(OD),leading to difficulties in swallowing and eating,as well as triggering negative emotions,malnutrition,and aspiration pneumonia,which can be detrimental to patients.However,routine nursing interventions often fail to address these issues adequately.Systemic and psychological interventions can improve dysphagia symptoms,relieve negative emotions,and improve quality of life.However,there are few clinical reports of systemic interventions combined with psychological interventions for stroke patients with OD.AIM To explore the effects of combining systemic and psychological interventions in stroke patients with OD.METHODS This retrospective study included 90 stroke patients with OD,admitted to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Qiqihar Medical College(January 2022–December 2023),who were divided into two groups:regular and coalition.Swallowing function grading(using a water swallow test),swallowing function[using the standardized swallowing assessment(SSA)],negative emotions[using the selfrating anxiety scale(SAS)and self-rating depression scale(SDS)],and quality of life(SWAL-QOL)were compared between groups before and after the intervention;aspiration pneumonia incidence was recorded.RESULTS Post-intervention,the coalition group had a greater number of patients with grade 1 swallowing function compared to the regular group,while the number of patients with grade 5 swallowing function was lower than that in the regular group(P<0.05).Post-intervention,the SSA,SAS,and SDS scores of both groups decreased,with a more significant decrease observed in the coalition group(P<0.05).Additionally,the total SWAL-QOL score in both groups increased,with a more significant increase observed in the coalition group(P<0.05).During the intervention period,the total incidence of aspiration and aspiration pneumonia in the coalition group was lower than that in the control group(4.44%vs 20.00%;P<0.05).CONCLUSION Systemic intervention combined with psychological intervention can improve dysphagia symptoms,alleviate negative emotions,enhance quality of life,and reduce the incidence of aspiration pneumonia in patients with OD.

Sepsis one-hour bundle management combined with psychological intervention on negative emotion and sleep quality in patients with sepsis

BACKGROUND Sepsis is a serious infectious disease caused by various systemic inflammatory responses and is ultimately life-threatening.Patients usually experience depression and anxiety,which affect their sleep quality and post-traumatic growth levels.AIM To investigate the effects of sepsis,a one-hour bundle(H1B)management was combined with psychological intervention in patients with sepsis.METHODS This retrospective analysis included 300 patients with sepsis who were admitted to Henan Provincial People’s Hospital between June 2022 and June 2023.According to different intervention methods,the participants were divided into a simple group(SG,n=150)and combined group(CG,n=150).H1B management was used in the SG and H1B management combined with psychological intervention was used in the CG.The changes of negative emotion,sleep quality and post-traumatic growth and prognosis were compared between the two groups before(T0)and after(T1)intervention.RESULTS After intervention(T1),the scores of the Hamilton Anxiety scale and Hamilton Depression scale in the CG were significantly lower than those in the SG(P<0.001).Sleep time,sleep quality,sleep efficiency,daytime dysfunction,sleep disturbance dimension score,and the total score in the CG were significantly lower than those in the SG(P<0.001).The appreciation of life,mental changes,relationship with others,personal strength dimension score,and total score of the CG were significantly higher than those of the SG(P<0.001).The scores for mental health,general health status,physiological function,emotional function,physical pain,social function,energy,and physiological function in the CG were significantly higher than those in the SG(P<0.001).The mechanical ventilation time,intensive care unit stay time,and 28-d mortality of the CG were significantly lower than those of the SG(P<0.05).CONCLUSION H1B management combined with psychological intervention can effectively alleviate the negative emotions of patients with sepsis and increase their quality of sleep and life.
