The field intensity rest...A comprehensive study on the requirements for the highly efficient third harmonic generation(THG) and its inverse process, one-third harmonic generation(OTHG), in lossy waveguides is proposed. The field intensity restrictions for both THG and OTHG caused by loss are demonstrated. The effective relative phase ranges, supporting the positive growth of signal fields of THG and OTHG are shrunken by the loss. Furthermore, it turns out that the effective relative phase ranges depend on the intensities of the interacting fields. At last, a modified definition of coherent length in loss situation, which evaluates the phase matching degree more precisely, is proposed by incorporating the shrunken relative phase range and the nonlinear phase mismatch. These theoretical analysis are valuable for guiding the experimental designs for highly efficient THG and OTHG.展开更多

Corn and olive supplemented diets were chosen as a model of n-6 and n-9 diets. Phospholipid fatty acids were determined by gas chromatography (GC) after previous fractionation by solid-phase extraction using aminopropyl (NH2) column, and data were analysed by nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test. Diet enriched with corn and olive oil did not affect the balance of lipid disorders during liver regeneration after 1/3 PH. Desaturases activity direction has changed depending on the used diet. The key role in the alteration of the polar fatty acids profile at all stages of liver regeneration and examined dietary fats is played by activity of stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD).展开更多

Methods The distally based peroneus brevis muscle fkps were applie...Objective To investigate a simple, valuable new method for coverage of the soft tissue defect over the lower one-third of the leg, ankle and the foot. Methods The distally based peroneus brevis muscle fkps were applied for coverage of the soft tissue defects over the lower one-third of the leg,the ankle and the foot. The muscle flaps were covered with split-thickness skin grafts. Results The distally based peroneus brevis muscle flaps were applied for coverage of the soft tissue defects over the lower one-third of the leg, the ankle and the foot in 16 cases. The larges area of the soft tissue defect was 5 cm × 7 cm. The smallest was 3 cm × 4 cm. Primary healing occured in 14 cases undergoing muscle flap construction, second-stage healing occured in 2 cases, no total flap necrosis occured in any cases. Conclusion ThisChina Medical Abstracts(Surgery) technigue is a simple and complication are lesser. The successful rates are higher. This muscle flap is suitable to the mudium or small soft tissue展开更多
The effects of pituitary suppression with one-third depot of long-acting gonadotropin-releasing hormone(Gn RH) agonist in Gn RH agonist long protocol for in vitro fertilization(IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injectio...The effects of pituitary suppression with one-third depot of long-acting gonadotropin-releasing hormone(Gn RH) agonist in Gn RH agonist long protocol for in vitro fertilization(IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI) were investigated. A retrospective cohort study was performed on 3186 cycles undergoing IVF/ICSI with Gn RH agonist long protocol in a university-affiliated infertility center. The pituitary was suppressed with depot triptorelin of 1.25 mg or 1.875 mg. There was no significant difference in live birth rate between 1.25 mg triptorelin group and 1.875 mg triptorelin group(41.2% vs. 43.7%). The mean luteinizing hormone(LH) level on follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH) starting day was significantly higher in 1.25 mg triptorelin group. The mean LH level on the day of human chorionic gonadotrophin(h CG) administration was slightly but statistically higher in 1.25 mg triptorelin group. There was no significant difference in the total FSH dose between the two groups. The number of retrieved oocytes was slightly but statistically less in 1.25 mg triptorelin group than in 1.875 mg triptorelin group(12.90±5.82 vs. 13.52±6.97). There was no significant difference in clinical pregnancy rate between the two groups(50.5% vs. 54.5%). It was suggested that one-third depot triptorelin can achieve satisfactory pituitary suppression and produce good live birth rates in a long protocol for IVF/ICSI.展开更多

Anyone is at risk for TBI;however, the risk is higher for athletes in contact sports, military person...In the United States, approximately one-third of all injury-related deaths are due to traumatic brain injury (TBI). Anyone is at risk for TBI;however, the risk is higher for athletes in contact sports, military personnel, children, and the elderly. TBI is characterized by a mild, moderate, or severe mechanical force to the head which can be further classified as blast, blunt, or ballistic. The sheer mechanical force of the impact to the head results in the primary injury including diffuse axonal injury, internal bleeding, swelling, and neuronal cell death. Secondary injury occurs over time, often weeks to months post-TBI, and is characterized by neuroinflammation, blood-brain-barrier disruption, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, neuronal apoptosis, and other deleterious effects in the brain (Khatri et al., 2018). Recent research indicates that secondary injury from TBI may be considered a risk factor for neurodegenerative diseases occurring later in life, such as Alzheimer’s disease and chronic traumatic encephalopathy. A key molecular mechanism that contributes to secondary injury after TBI is free radical damage which is induced by the aberrant production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and reactive nitrogen species (RNS).展开更多
Fatigue is believed to be a major contributory factor to occupational injuries in machine operators.The development of accurate and usable techniques to measure operator fatigue is therefore important.In this study,we...Fatigue is believed to be a major contributory factor to occupational injuries in machine operators.The development of accurate and usable techniques to measure operator fatigue is therefore important.In this study,we used a novel method based on surface electromyography (sEMG) of the biceps brachii and the Borg scale to evaluate local muscle fatigue in the upper limb after isometric muscle action.Thirteen young males performed isometric actions with the upper limb at different force levels.sEMG activities of the biceps brachii were recorded during the actions.Borg scales were used to evaluate the subjective sensation of local fatigue of the biceps brachii after the actions.sEMG activities were analyzed using the one-third band octave method,and an equation to determine the degree of fatigue was derived based on the relationship between the variable and the Borg scale.The results showed that the relationship could be expressed by a conic curve,and could be used to evaluate muscle fatigue during machine operation.展开更多
