Hence, a method for fuzzy ontology construction based on incomplete knowledge is proposed. First, the calculation principle of the attribute weight of the ontology concept is presented, and the calculation function of the attribute weight is derived through experiments. Then, the membership degree of the incomplete individual to the concept is computed. Finally, the incomplete individual is classified according to the principle of the variable precision rough set model. The experimental results show that the average precision of the classification of the incomplete individuals is 81.7% when the common attributes are omitted and that it is difficult to classify the incomplete individuals correctly when the private attributes are omitted. This method is significant for handling incomplete knowledge in the process of ontology construction.展开更多

Three key issues for providing knowledge services are how to improve the access of unstructured and scattered information for the non-specialist users, how to provide adequate information to knowledge workers and how to provide the information requiring highly focused and related information. Cyber-Brain has been designed as a platform that combines approaches based on knowledge engineering and language engineering to gather knowledge from various sources and to provide the effective knowledge service. Based on specially designed ontology for practical service scenarios, it can aggregate knowledge from Internet, digital archives, expert, and other resources for providing one-stop-shop knowledge services. The domain specific and task oriented ontology also enables advanced search and allows the system ensures that knowledge service could improve the user benefit. Users are presented with the necessary information closely related to their information need and thus of potential high interest. This paper presents several service scenarios for different end-users and reviews ontology engineering and its life cycle for supporting AOS (Agricultural Ontology Services) Vocbench which is the heart of knowledge services in agriculture domain.展开更多

It uses advanced data mining techniques, digital publishing technologies, and new media concepts to comprehensively integrate and deepen nursing knowledge and to aggregate sources of knowledge in specialized technical fields. This study applies all forms of media and transmission channels, such as personal computers and mobile devices, to establish a knowledge-transmission system that provides knowledge services such as knowledge search, update retrieval, evaluation, questions and answers(Q&As), online viewing, information subscription, expert services, push notifications, review forums, and online learning. In doing so, this study creates an authoritative and foundational knowledge service engine for the nursing field, which provides convenient, flexible, and comprehensive knowledge services to members of the nursing industry in a digital format.展开更多

Actually web services involve the need for dynamic integration and transparent knowledge integration, in light of the urgent information changing track. Under this situation, the traditional search engine and information integration cannot finish this challenge, thereby bringing the opportunity for knowledge fusion and synchronization. This paper proposes a multi-matching strategy ontology mapping method for web information, i.e., ubiquitous ontology mapping method (U-Mapping), which can be viewed as a base collection of information on multiple ontologies made to appear anytime and everywhere. This approach is usually built independently by different information providers, avoiding the grammatical and semantic conflict. Finally, the ontology case information can be utilized under the consolidation of the U-Mapping, concerning language technology and machine learning methods.展开更多

There is no doubt that the development and application of computational methods will render great help in better understanding biomedical and biological functions. Large amounts of datasets have been produced by biomedical and biological experiments and simulations. In order for researchers to gain knowledge from origi- nal data, nontrivial transformation is necessary, which is regarded as a critical link in the chain of knowledge acquisition, sharing, and reuse. Challenges that have been encountered include: how to efficiently and effectively represent human knowledge in formal computing models, how to take advantage of semantic text mining techniques rather than traditional syntactic text mining, and how to handle security issues during the knowledge sharing and reuse. This paper summarizes the state-of-the-art in these research directions. We aim to provide readers with an introduction of major computing themes to be applied to the medical and biological research.展开更多

But the difficulties of knowledge sharing and reuse seriously encumbrance the implementation of knowledge integration. In this paper, we describe how a framework of knowledge-integrated system based on ontology (KISO) can be used to support integrating distributed knowledge sources.展开更多

The knowledge base is populated with learnt classification rules categorizing documents into topics. Classification provides for the reduction of the dimensio0ality of the document feature space. The semantic model of retrieved web documents is semantically labeled by querying domain ontology and processed with content-based classification method. The model obtained is mapped to the existing knowledge base by implementing inference algorithm. It enables models of the same semantic type to be recognized and integrated into the knowledge base. The approach provides for the domain knowledge integration and assists the extraction and modeling web documents semantics. Implementation results of the proposed approach are presented.展开更多
