With the explosive advancements in wireless communications and digital electronics,some tiny devices,sensors,became a part of our daily life in numerous elds.Wireless sensor networks(WSNs)is composed of tiny sensor devices.WSNs have emerged as a key technology enabling the realization of the Internet of Things(IoT).In particular,the sensor-based revolution of WSN-based IoT has led to considerable technological growth in nearly all circles of our life such as smart cities,smart homes,smart healthcare,security applications,environmental monitoring,etc.However,the limitations of energy,communication range,and computational resources are bottlenecks to the widespread applications of this technology.In order to tackle these issues,in this paper,we propose an Energy-efcient Transmission Range Optimized Model for IoT(ETROMI),which can optimize the transmission range of the sensor nodes to curb the hot-spot problem occurring in multi-hop communication.In particular,we maximize the transmission range by employing linear programming to alleviate the sensor nodes’energy consumption and considerably enhance the network longevity compared to that achievable using state-of-the-art algorithms.Through extensive simulation results,we demonstrate the superiority of the proposed model.ETROMI is expected to be extensively used for various smart city,smart home,and smart healthcare applications in which the transmission range of the sensor nodes is a key concern. 展开更多

The advanced optimization method named as adaptive range differential evolution (ARDE) is developed. The optimization performance of ARDE is demonstrated using a typical mathematical test and compared with the standard genetic algorithm and differential evolution. Combined with parallel ARDE, surface modeling method and Navier-Stokes solution, a new automatic aerodynamic optimization method is presented. A low aspect ratio transonic turbine stage is optimized for the maximization of the isentropic efficiency with forty-one design variables in total. The coarse-grained parallel strategy is applied to accelerate the design process using 15 CPUs. The isentropic efficiency of the optimum design is 1.6% higher than that of the reference design. The aerodynamic performance of the optimal design is much better than that of the reference design. 展开更多

Biodegradation of the Oil Hydrocarbons in Wastewater with Immobilized Microbiological Activated Carbon 被引量:4

On the basis of laboratory-scale-tests, the method of using immobilized biological activated carbon (IBAC) was found to be an efficient method to treat oil wastewater. In this research, pilot-scale studies were conducted to investigate the optimal range of factors, such as oil concentration, and hydraulic retention time (HRT). 39 strains of bacteria were isolated from activated sludge of a petrochemical wastewater treatment plant. After being acclimated and identified, these bacteria were immobilized on granular activated carbon. The degradation of organic compounds was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectromtry (GC-MS). As the results show that when the oil concentration is lower than 50 mg/L and corresponding values of HRT are longer than 1.0 h, the removal rate of immobilized biological activated carbon column can stably reach at least 70%. In the field studies, electron microscope analyses show that the predominant bacteria have been changed from Pseudomonas and Bacillus at the beginning to Bacillus only after 60 days of continuous operation, which suggests that the method with immobilized biological activated carbon column is the one with higher efficiency than that of the secondary floatation tank traditionally used in oil wastewater treatment. 展开更多
