In the literature, the mean operation time, intraoperative blood loss, pathological size of the tumor and postoperative hospital stay were 134 min, minimal, 31 mm and 6.4 d, respectively. There were no particular perioperative complications during the follow-up period(mean: 121.3 mo). Intragastric surgery using laparoscopy and oral endoscopy can be considerably beneficial for patients with GSTs locating in the upper third of the stomach between 2-5 cm in diameter and < 8 cm2 in crosssectional area and located in the upper third of the stomach.展开更多
Exposed endoscopic full-thickness resection(EFTR),with or without laparoscopic assistance,is an emergent natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery technique with promising safety and efficacy for the management ...Exposed endoscopic full-thickness resection(EFTR),with or without laparoscopic assistance,is an emergent natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery technique with promising safety and efficacy for the management of gastrointestinal submucosal tumors(SMTs)arising from the muscularis propria(MP),especially of the gastric wall.To date,evidence concerning duodenal exposed EFTR is lacking,mainly due to both the technical difficulty involved because of the special duodenal anatomy and concerns about safety and effectiveness of transmural wall defect closure.However,given the non-negligible morbidity and mortality associated with duodenal surgery,the recent availability of dedicated endoscopic tools for tissue-approximation capable to realize full-thickness defect closure could help in promoting the adoption of this endosurgical technique among referral centers.The aim of our study was to review the current evidence concerning exposed EFTR with or without laparoscopic assistance for the treatment of MP-arising duodenal SMTs.展开更多
Objective To evaluate the clinical outcome of craniofacial resection for advanced malignant tumors in oral and maxillofacial regions.Methods Forty-six patients who underwent craniofacial resection for malignancies i...Objective To evaluate the clinical outcome of craniofacial resection for advanced malignant tumors in oral and maxillofacial regions.Methods Forty-six patients who underwent craniofacial resection for malignancies involving the anterior and middle cranial fossa over a 20-year period between June 1978 and December 1997 at our department were evaluated. Twenty patients received radiation therapy and an adjuvant therapy after the operation. Eleven patients received chemotherapy of various types as an adjuvant therapy.Results The 3- and 5-year survival rates were 48.8% (20/41) and 35.1% (13/37), respectively, while the 10-year survival rate was 20% (4/20).Conclusions Our results revealed good prospects of using craniofacial resection on patients with advanced malignancies in the oral and maxillofacial regions.展开更多
