Italian textile machinery orders remain stable in Q1 2024

For Italian textile machinery sector,2024 has begun without anything seemingly special.The first quarter has seen the orders index,as reported by the Economics Department of ACIMIT-the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers-remain stationary compared to the same period the previous year.In absolute terms,the index came in at 61.2 points(basis:2021=100).

Enhanced Intertwined Spin and Charge Orders in the t–J Model in a Small J Case

The one-band t–J model captures strong correlations in cuprate high-temperature superconductors.It accounts for the various intertwined spin and charge orders,and the superconductivity in the phase diagrams.To see the correlation effect on the intertwined orders,we implement the density matrix renormalization group method to simulate the t–J model in a small J case with t/J=10,which is in a deeper Mott region than that with t/J?3 in cuprate superconducting compounds.We examine the results on a six-leg lattice with both the nearest and next-nearest-neighbor hoppings and antiferromagnetic coupling,and find the absence of superconductivity and enhanced intertwined spin and charge orders in the phase diagram.Besides the stripe phases,we find a new SDW+CDW phase in which the spin modulation is a(π,π)antiferromagnetism,while the wavelength of the charge modulation is shorter than that of the stripe phases.Our results suggest the enhanced intertwined orders and suppressed superconductivity in the deep Mott region.

Causes,Effects,and Control Measures of Construction Change Orders in the U.S.

Change orders have a significant impact on many aspects of construction projects.They are known to be the primary cause of litigation in the construction industry.Change orders are almost inevitable due to the uniqueness of each project from many perspectives,such as the type of building,complexity of the design,human factors,and the available resources.Change orders are the formal mechanism to implement design changes during the execution phase.These changes are usually the outcome of lack of visualization by the owner,misunderstanding,miscommunication between different parties involved in the project,shortage in resources,and other factors.This research aims to investigate and rank causes,effects,and control measures of change orders in the construction industry in the U.S.This research presents the results of a questionnaire surveying owners,contractors,and consultants.A total of 123 industry professionals in the Architecture,Engineering,and Construction(AEC)field,with either significant or final decision-making authority on reviewing,issuing,and approving change orders responded to the survey.Results indicated that owners are the primary source followed by consultants and contractors,respectively.Some of the more important control measures identified in this research are collaboration and visualization technologies.

Synchronization of chaotic systems with different orders

A controller is designed to realize the synchronization between chaotic systems with different orders. The structure of the controller, the error equations and the Lyapunov functions are determined based on stability theory. Hyperchaotic Chen system and Rossler system are taken for example to demonstrate the method to be effective and feasible. Simulation results show that all the state wriables of Rossler system can be synchronized with those of hyperchaotic Chen system by using only one controller, and the error signals approach zero smoothly and quickly.

CONTROLLABILITY AND OPTIMALITY OF LINEAR TIME-INVARIANT NEUTRAL CONTROL SYSTEMS WITH DIFFERENT FRACTIONAL ORDERS

Control systems governed by linear time-invariant neutral equations with different fractional orders are considered. Sufficient and necessary conditions for the controllability of those systems are established. The existence of optimal controls for the systems is given. Finally, two examples are provided to show the application of our results.

On the Variational Problems of the Functionals with Derivatives of Higher Orders and Undetermined Boundary

According to the necessary condition of the functional taking the extremum, that is its first variation is equal to zero, the variational problems of the functionals for the undetermined boundary in the calculus of variations are researched, the functionals depend on single argument, arbitrary unknown functions and their derivatives of higher orders. A new view point is posed and demonstrated, i.e. when the first variation of the functional is equal to zero, all the variational terms are not independent to each other, and at least one of them is equal to zero. Some theorems and corollaries of the variational problems of the functionals are obtained.

Boundary Hamiltonian Theory for Gapped Topological Orders

We report our systematic construction of the lattice Hamiltonian model of topological orders on open surfaces, with explicit boundary terms. We do this mainly for the Levin-Wen string-net model. The full Hamiltonian in our approach yields a topologically protected, gapped energy spectrum, with the corresponding wave functions robust under topology-preserving transformations of the lattice of the system. We explicitly present the wavefunctions of the ground states and boundary elementary excitations. The creation and hopping operators of boundary quasi-particles are constructed. It is found that given a bulk topological order, the gapped boundary conditions are classified by Frobenius algebras in its input data. Emergent topological properties of the ground states and boundary excitations are characterized by （bi-） modules over Frobenius algebras.

Analyze Light in August by Lacan's Theory of Three Orders

Being one of the greatest 20thcentury writers,William Faulkner created many novels which were given high appraisal and remained popular up to today.The broad themes which are covered in Faulkner’s novels cannot be neglected,including the racial and religious belief in American society,the fading of the traditional Southern value and the corrosive influence of the rapid industrialization over the human being.Among these important themes,Faulkner also paid enough attention to the theme about how the individual can achieve his or her own identity.In the light of Lacan’s theory of Three Orders,this paper tries to evaluate Faulkner’s discussion over the formation of individual’s identity with Gail Hightower as the example.

A pedodiversity pattern: taxonomically established soil orders in China

Under the framework of Chinese Soil Taxonomy, all the 14 established soil orders including Histosols, Anthrosols, Spodosols, Andisols, Ferralisols, Vertisols, Aridisols, Halosols, Gleyosols, Isohumisols, Ferrisols, Luvisols, Cambisols and Primosols, forming a complicated pedodiversity pattern resulted from both various natural conditions and long history of human activities, are introduced with brief descriptions. Synchronization between fractional-order chaotic systems and integer orders chaotic systems (fractional-order chaotic systems)

Based on the idea of tracking control and stability theory of fractional-order systems, a controller is designed to synchronize the fractional-order chaotic system with chaotic systems of integer orders, and synchronize the different fractional-order chaotic systems. The proposed synchronization approach in this paper shows that the synchronization between fractional-order chaotic systems and chaotic systems of integer orders can be achieved, and the synchronization between different fractional-order chaotic systems can also be realized. Numerical experiments show that the present method works very well.

Coupling Stacking Orders with Interlayer Magnetism in Bilayer H-VSe2

Stacking-dependent magnetism in van der Waals materials has caught intense interests.Based on the first principle calculations,we investigate the coupling between stacking orders and interlayer magnetic orders in bilayer H-VSe 2.It is found that there are two stable stacking orders in bilayer H-VSe 2,named AB-stacking and A′B-stacking.Under standard DFT framework,the A′B-stacking prefers the interlayer AFM order and is semiconductive,whereas the AB-stacking prefers the FM order and is metallic.However,under the DFT+U framework both the stacking orders prefer the interlayer AFM order and are semiconductive.By detailedly analyzing this difference,we find that the interlayer magnetism originates from the competition between antiferromagnetic interlayer super-superexchange and ferromagnetic interlayer double exchange,in which both the interlayer Se-4 p z orbitals play a crucial role.In the DFT+U calculations,the double exchange is suppressed due to the opened bandgap,such that the interlayer magnetic orders are decoupled with the stacking orders.Based on this competition mechanism,we propose that a moderate hole doping can significantly enhance the interlayer double exchange,and can be used to switch the interlayer magnetic orders in bilayer VSe 2.This method is also applicable to a wide range of semiconductive van der Waals magnets.

Causes of Change Orders in the Jordanian Construction Industry

Change orders are common and clearly noticeable in Jordanian construction industry. Several studies have identified change orders as significant problem in Jordanian construction projects, and they mainly cause delay and cost overrun. This situation spurs the researchers for investigating the significant causes of change orders in construction projects. Thus, this paper aims to determine the main causes of change orders in the Jordanian construction private sector which responsible for significant cost overrun. Both qualitative and quantitative methods, i.e. interview and questionnaire techniques, were used to achieve this aim. Interviews were conducted as the first stage of data collection, and the results formed the basis of the questionnaire, which was distributed across the Jordanian construction sector. Content analysis was used to analyse the interview responses, while factor analysis, correlation and the Severity Index (SI) were used to analyse the questionnaire results. The findings identified three main categories of causes of change orders in private sector, namely engineering causes, causes related to the client, and circumstances of the project, with sub-causes in each category which are related to each other in significant ways and which affect each other.
