To reduce the inertial force of the oscillating sieve and return pan of a rice combine harvester,partial equilibrium was adopted.Firstly,based on the kinematic analysis of a slider-crank mechanism,the appropriate mass of counterweight intervals was achieved.Then,an ADAMS dynamic simulation was used to determine the optimum balance mass of the oscillating sieve and return pan individually.Considering the relative motion between the return pan and the oscillating sieve,the overall inertial force of the two parts would be reduced.The simulation results indicated that the optimum counterweight of the oscillating sieve was 15.5 kg based on an analysis of the movement tracks of the mass center and overall inertial force.The results also showed that the overall balance of inertial force not only reduced the counterweight but also decreased the overall inertial force of the oscillating sieve and return pan.Finally,a search for the most suitable crank initial angle of the return pan to reduce the overall inertial force and optimize the overall balance revealed three groups of initial angles:φ=0°,φ=45°,andφ=90°.The results indicated that arranging the initial angle of the crank of the oscillating sieve and return pan in the same position(φ=90°)was the most favorable for reducing the overall inertial force.In this situation,the optimum counterweight of the oscillating sieve was only 14.0 kg.The results can provide references for the design of the overall balance of the inertial force in the cleaning components of a combine harvester. 展开更多

A new analytical method is proposed to analyze the force acting on a rectangular oscillating buoy due to linear waves.In the method a new analytical expression for the diffraction velocity potential is obtained first by use of theeigenfunction expansion method and then the wave excitation force is calculated by use of the known incident wavepotential and the diffraction potential. Compared with the classical analytical method, it can be seen that the presentmethod is simpler for a two-dimensional problem due to the comparable effort needed for the computation ofdiffraction potential and for that of radiated potential. To verify the correctness of the method, a classical example inthe reference is recomputed and the obtained results are in good accordance with those by use of other methods,which shows that the present method is correct. 展开更多

When dealing with the oscillations of fixed-base structures or machines induced by external forces,suppressing the vibrational impact on the adjacent structures and the environment helps to maintain the structural durability and ensure the users′comfort level.This study proposed an inerter-based optimal solution to suppress the vibrational forces and energy transmitted to the supporting ground by utilizing the great potential of the inerter.For the external force,which contains various frequency bands,the stochastic response and an energy balance analysis are conducted to evaluate the force transmissibility,structural displacement,and vibration power flow.Given the benefits of the inerter,a transmitted-force-based optimal design framework is proposed for inerter systems,of which the effectiveness is validated by numerical examples.The obtained results show that inerter systems are capable of providing significant reductions in the structural displacement and the force transmitted to the supporting ground.Particularly,the closed-form power equation indicated that a grounded inerter can suppress the force transmission and vibrational energy,thus leading to a less negative impact on the ground and environment.Revealing the working mechanism and optimal design strategy of the inerter can help solve the force-transmission control problem experienced by some practical structures. 展开更多

We report the oscillating propagation of kink in a nondissipative Frenkel-Kontorova (FK) chain driven by external DC force, which is different from the usual propagation of localized modes with equal speed. When the kink moves in the opposite direction of the external DC force, the kink will be accelerated and the potential of the FK chain in the external force field is transformed to be the kinetic energy of the kink. If the kink reaches the boundary of the FK chain, the kink will be bounced back and moves in the opposite direction, then the kink will be decelerated gradually and the kinetic energy of the kink & transformed to be the potential of the FK chain in the external force field. If the speed of the kink reaches zero, the kink will move in the opposite direction again driven by the external DC force, and a new oscillating cycle begins. Simulation result demonstrates exactly the transformation between the kinetic energy of the kink and the potential of the FK chain in the external force field. The interesting energy exchange is induced by the special topology of kinks, and other localized modes, such as breathers and envelope solitons, have no the interesting phenomenon. 展开更多

System constitution and operation principle are introduced in this paper. Influences of parameters on dynamic acceleration performance are analyzed and discussed emphatically, such as oscillating frequency, oscillating amplitude and draw-back speed. Based on the Krylov-Bogolyubov method of averaging the closed system of equations for particle motion and temperature in inhomogeneous rapidly oscillating velocity and temperature of fluid phase is derived. It is shown that the particle movement in a rapidly oscillating fluid velocity field occurs not only under the force of gravity and resistance, but also under force of migration. The migration force is the result of particle inertia and in homogeneity of oscillation of velocity field of the carrier phase. Effects of dynamic and thermal relaxation times of particle and gravity force have been studied. It is shown possibilities of accumulation of particles under the combined action of gravity and migration forces. For a linear dependence of the amplitude of velocity and temperature fluctuations of the fluid an analytical solution was presented. The analytical solutions have been found in good agreement with the results of numerical solution of system of equations of motion and heat transfer of particle. 展开更多

In conventional string theory with fixed space-time dimension number, the extra space dimensions are compactized. In string theory with oscillating space-time dimension number, dimension number oscillates between 11D and 10D and between 10D and 4D reversibly, and there is no compactization. Dimension number decreases with decreasing speed of light and increasing rest mass. The 4D particle has the lowest speed of light and the highest rest mass. The two different oscillations between 10D and 4D are the stepwise oscillation passing through every dimension number and the direct oscillation oscillating directly between 10D and 4D without the intermediate dimension numbers. Dark energy represents the stepwise oscillation, and dark energy becomes observable only when it has 4D space-time. 4D baryonic matter and 4D dark matter represent the direct oscillation directly from 10D to 4D. Our universe is the dual cyclic universe of the dark energy universe and the baryonic-dark matter universe. The Big Bang in the baryonicdark matter universe produced irreversible kinetic energy that stopped the reversible direct oscillation. The reversible direct oscillation will resume after the Big Crush to remove irreversible kinetic energy. Our cyclic universe started from the zero-energy universe through the four-stage transformation. The theoretical calculated percentages of dark energy, dark matter, and baryonic matter are 68.3, 26.4, and 5.3, respectively, in agreement with observed 68.3, 26.8, and 4.9, respectively. According to the calculation, dark energy started in 4.28 billion years ago in agreement with the observed 4.71 ± 0.98 billion years ago. 展开更多

A series of numerical sinmlations about a small scale (aspect ratio: 63.2) flexible pipe undergoing forced harmonious oscillation and vortex-induced vibration (VIV) have been taken into account. The wake hydrodynamics and pipe deformation were accomplished by ANSYS MFX solution strat- egy designed for fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problem with well-performed LES model. The configuration of structured mesh, multi-domain design, different mesh stiffness admeasured by User Fortran ensured that the numerical task was competent to deal with large deformation related to this case. The introduction of instantaneous amplitude definition and modeless component decom- position method (Chen and Kim, 2008) was helpful to reveal much more information from modal analysis. Most results from numerical simulation are generally consistent with those from model test (Choi and Hong, 2000) via the comparison between them. As supplementary to model test, visualization of the vortex wake was also provided. It has been proved that the forced oscillation doesn't only excite a complicated dumbbell-like wake pattern around the outer thimble, but also results in inner flow inside the PVC pipe. The velocity of the inner flow increases with the frequency of forced oscillation. 展开更多

A model based on the data from forced vibration experiments is developed for predicting the vortex-induced vibra- tions (VIV) of elastically mounted circular cylinders in flow. The assumptions for free and forced vibration tests are explored briefly. Energy equilibrium is taken into account to set up the relationship between the dynamic response of selfexcited oscillations and the force coemcients from forced vibration experiments. The gap between these two cases is bridged straightforwardly with careful treatment of key parameters. Given reduced mass m^# and material damping ratio of an elastically mounted circular cylinder in flow, the response characteristics such as amplitude, frequency, lock-in range, added mass coefficient, cross-flow fluid force and the corresponding phase angle can be predicted all at once. In- stances with different combination of reduced mass and material damping ratio are compared to investigate their effects on VIV. The hysteresis phenomenon can be interpreted reasonably. The predictions and the results from recent experiments carried out by Wifliamson' s group are in rather good agreement. 展开更多

This paper investiages the secondary Bjerknes force for two oscillating bubbles in various pressure amplitudes in a concentration of 95% sulfuric acid. The equilibrium radii of the bubbles are assumed to be smaller than 10 μm at a frequency of 37 kHz in various strong driving acoustical fields around 2.0 bars (1 bar=10^5 Pa). The secondary Bjerknes force is investigated in uncoupled and coupled states between the bubbles, with regard to the quasi-adiabatic model for the bubble interior. It finds that the value of the secondary Bjerknes force depends on the driven pressure of sulfuric acid and its amount would be increased by liquid pressure amplitude enhancement. The results show that the repulsion area of the interaction force would be increased by increasing the driven pressure because of nonlinear oscillation of bubbles. 展开更多

In this paper, the hydrodynamic coefficients of a horizontal semi-immersed cylinder in steady current and oscillatory flow combining with constant current are obtained via forced oscillation experiments in a towing tank. Three nondimensional parameters(Re, KC and Fr) are introduced to investigate their effects on the hydrodynamic coefficients.The experimental results show that overtopping is evident and dominates when the Reynolds number exceeds 5×105 in the experiment. Under steady current condition, overtopping increases the drag coefficient significantly at high Reynolds numbers. Under oscillatory flow with constant current condition, the added mass coefficient can even reach a maximum value about 3.5 due to overtopping while the influence of overtopping on the drag coefficient is minor. 展开更多

Respiratory diseases, especially asthma, are common in children. While spirometry contributes to asthma diagnosis and management in older children, it has a limited role in younger children whom are often unable to perform forced expiratory manoeuvre. The development of novel diagnostic methods which require minimal effort, such as forced oscillation technique(FOT) is, therefore, a welcome and promising addition. FOT involves applying external, small amplitude oscillations to the respiratory system during tidal breathing. Therefore, it requires minimal effort and cooperation. The FOT has the potential to facilitate asthma diagnosis and management in preschool children by faciliting the objective measurement of baseline lung function and airway reactivity in children unable to successfully perform spirometry. Traditionally the use of FOT was limited to specialised centres. However, the availability of commercial equipment resulted in its use both in research and in clinical practice. In this article, we review the available literature on the use of FOT in childhood asthma. The technical aspects of FOT are described followed by a discussion of its practical aspects in the clinical field including the measurement of baseline lung function and associated reference ranges, bronchodilator responsiveness and bronchial hyperresponsiveness. We also highlight the difficulties and limitations that might be encountered and future research directions. 展开更多

Strong asymmetrical vortices appear on the leeward of slender body at high angles of attack, which has very unfavorable effect on the stability and control of the aircraft. A method is developed to control the side force of slender body at high angles of attack, and is verified in wind tunnel. A thin-film triangular self-excited oscillation flag is fixed at the tip of the slender body model whose semi-apex angle is 10°. Side force is approximately linearly proportional to roll-setting angle of self-excited oscillation flag at high angles of attack, and the slop of fitting straight line obtained by the least square method is -0.158. The linear relationship between side force and roU-setting angle provides convenience for developing side force control law of slender body at high angles of attack. Experimental data shows that the side force coefficients vary linearly with roll-setting angles when a specific plastic self-excited oscillation flag is used as the control flag. The range of side force coefficient and roll-setting angle are, respectively, -3.2 to 3.0 and -20° to 20°. The device is simple, effective, and is of great potential in engineering application. 展开更多

By combining results of transient response tests with forced concentration oscillation experi-ments,behaviors of benzene oxidation over V<sub>2</sub>O<sub>5</sub> catalysts has been determined.Product increse canbe observed during periodic operation.The mechanism of catalytic reaction can be elucidated andthe behavior of concentration oscillation during the reaction is determined.The relation betweencycling frequency and response characteristics has also been studied with two different types of peri-odic operation,i.e.,regular and irregular square waves. 展开更多

The restriction of KB averaging method is discussed and asymptotic solution of the weakly nonlinear and forced oscillation u″+ω20u=εkcos ωt-εu3 is obtained by Struble technique. The conclusion about this oscillation derived with other method is discussed. The results show that KB method will break down when a and θ in the zeroth solution of above eqation are not slowly varying functions of time t. The stationary solution of weakly nonlinear oscillation, u″+ω20u=εkcosω(ε)t-εu3 is also analysed. 展开更多
