The degradation of water-solubilized dyes was carried out using the mixed oxides as photocatalyst. The surface absorbed oxygen was analyzed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The results indicated that there was a relationship between the photocatalytic activity and the content of the surface absorbed oxygen. The higher the content of the surface absorbed oxygen was, the better the performance of the photocatalyst.展开更多

The results indicated that TeNPs were dispersion excellent...The elemental tellurium nanoparticles (TeNPs) - sucrose sol was prepared by the reaction of sodium tellurite with ascorbic acid in sucrose aqueous solution. The results indicated that TeNPs were dispersion excellent in the TeNPs - sucrose sol and the morphology of TeNPs was needle-like with about 70 nm in width and 500 nm in length. The antioxidant activity of the TeNPs - sucrose sol in vitro was estimated by pyrogallol autoxidation method, Fenton method and oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) assay. The results showed that a certain amount of TeNPs - sucrose sol could effectively scavenge superoxide anion free radical and hydroxyl free radical with scavenging rates of 73 % and 57 %, respectively. ORAC assay was used to measure the total antioxidant capacity of TeNPs - sucrose sol. The order of ORAC values was 2.25 μmol.L-1 TeNPs - 0.025 % sucrose sol 〉 0.025 % sucrose 〉 2.25 μmol.L-1 Na2TeO3 〉 1.63 μmol.L-1 ascorbic acid. The results suggested that the TeNPs - sucrose sol had the excellent antioxidant activity and TeNPs were the dominating contributors to antioxidant capacity of the TeNPs - sucrose sol.展开更多

Objective: To investigate the effects of 50% ethyl alcohol (EtOH) extracts from Danzhi Xiaoyao Pill (丹栀逍遥丸, DXP) on the proliferation of MCF-7 human breast cancer cells and potential mechanisms. Methods: AT...Objective: To investigate the effects of 50% ethyl alcohol (EtOH) extracts from Danzhi Xiaoyao Pill (丹栀逍遥丸, DXP) on the proliferation of MCF-7 human breast cancer cells and potential mechanisms. Methods: ATP-Lite assay was performed to test the proliferation of the MCF-7 breast cancer cell line; and antioxidant activity was measured by the oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC). The effects of DXP on nitric oxide (NO) production were tested by lipopolysaccharide (LPS)- stimulated RAW 264.7 murine macrophages using the Griess reaction. Results: The 50% EtOH DXP extracts displayed a cytotoxic response on MCF-7 cells at 0.10, 0.25 and 0.50 mg/mL dosedependently with the proliferation inhibited by more than 85%. The ORAC value of the DXP was 820μ moL Trolox equivalent/g, about 40% of the vitamin C value. DXP extracts had significant inhibitory effect on NO production at the concentration from 0.0625 mg/mL to 0.5 mg/mL (P〈0.05, P〈0.01). Conclusion: The extracts of DXP could significantly inhibit the proliferation of MCF-7 cells, with the effect possibly related to its antioxidant activity and the inhibition of NO production.展开更多
Consumer demand for natural products with low concentration of additives and controlled environmental impact has been a major challenge for the lipid food packaging industry.Because of this fact,active packaging such ...Consumer demand for natural products with low concentration of additives and controlled environmental impact has been a major challenge for the lipid food packaging industry.Because of this fact,active packaging such as oxygen absorbers and antioxidant releasers are trends in the industry.In this work,research developed on oxygen absorbing packaging and antioxidant-releasing packaging will be discussed.This work will also reveal the challenges to commercialization.Packaging that slows down lipid oxidation in food presents satisfactory results and greater efficacy than vacuum packaging.The challenges for the development of active packaging that consist of biopolymers and natural additives are related to the physical and mechanical properties of the materials.Future research should develop biodegradable active packaging that are resistant to industrial processing.Furthermore,there are plenty of natural resources not yet studied and that may be applicable for the development of active oxygen-absorbing and antioxidant active packaging for food.展开更多
The microscopic morphology of electromagnetic wave absorbers influences the multiple reflections of electromagnetic waves and impedance matching,determining the absorption properties.Herein,the urchin-shaped bimetalli...The microscopic morphology of electromagnetic wave absorbers influences the multiple reflections of electromagnetic waves and impedance matching,determining the absorption properties.Herein,the urchin-shaped bimetallic nickel-cobalt oxide/carbon(NiCo_(2)O_(4)/C)composites are prepared via a hy-drothermal route,whose absorption properties are investigated by different morphologies regulated by changing calcination temperature.A minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))of-75.26 dB is achieved at a match-ing thickness of 1.5 mm,and the effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)of 8.96 GHz is achieved at 2 mm.Multi-advantages of the synthesized NiCo_(2)O_(4)/C composites contribute to satisfactory absorption proper-ties.First,the interweaving of the needle-like structures increases the opportunities for scattering and multiple reflections of incident electromagnetic waves,and builds up a conductive network to facilitate the enhancement of conductive losses.Second,the carbon component in the NiCo_(2)O_(4)/C composites en-hances the interfacial polarization and reduces the density of the absorber.Besides,generous oxygen va-cancy defects are introduced into the NiCo_(2)O_(4)/C composites,which induces defect polarization and dipole polarization.In summary,the ternary coordination of components,defects and morphology led to out-standing electromagnetic wave absorption,which lightened the path for improving the electromagnetic wave absorption property and enriching the family of NiCo_(2)O_(4) absorbers with excellent performance.展开更多
