A comprehensive study of these substances is fascinating from a scientific perspective. They are key components found in wine, vegetables, and fruits. Understanding the isotopic compositions in organic compounds is crucial for comprehending various biochemical processes and the nature of substances present in different natural products. Tartaric acid, oxalic acid, glucose, and fructose are widely distributed compounds, including in vegetables and fruits. Tartaric acid plays a significant role in determining the quality and taste properties of wine, while oxalic acid is also prevalent but holds great interest for further research, especially in terms of carbon isotopic composition. We can unveil the mechanisms of processes that were previously impossible to study. Glucose and fructose are the most common monosaccharides in the hexose group, and both are found in fruits, with sweeter fruits containing higher amounts of these substances. In addition to fruits, wheat, barley, rye, onions, garlic, lentils, peppers, dried fruits, beans, broccoli, cabbage, tomatoes, and other foods are also rich sources of fructose and glucose. To determine the mass fraction of the carbon-13 isotope in these compounds, it is important to study their changes during natural synthesis. These compounds can be modified with a carbon center. According to the existing isotopic analysis method, these compounds are converted into carbon oxide or dioxide [1]. At this point, the average carbon content in the given compound is determined, but information about isotope-modified centers is lost. Dilution may occur through the transfer of other carbon-containing organic compounds in the sample or by dilution with natural carbon or carbon dioxide during the transfer process. This article discusses the possibility of carbon-13 isotope propagation directly in these compounds, both completely modified and modified with individual carbon centers. The literature provides information on determining carbon-13 substance in organic compounds, both with a general approach and for individual compounds [2] [3].展开更多

In 2013, a community uprising in Rathupaswala, a village in Gampaha district, accused a latex glove manufacturing factory of causing groundwater acidity (pH < 4). This study evaluates the spatial and temporal changes in geochemical parameters across three transects in the southern part of Gampaha district to 1) assess the impact of geological formations on groundwater;2) compare temporal variations in groundwater;and 3) explain acidification via a geochemical model. Seventy-two sample locations were tested for pH, electrical conductivity (EC), and anion concentrations (sulphate, nitrate, chloride and fluoride). Depth to the water table and distance from the sea were measured to study variations across sandy, peaty, lateritic, and crystalline aquifers. Results showed pH readings around 7 for sandy and crystalline aquifers, below 7 for peaty aquifers, and below 5 for lateritic aquifers, with significant water table fluctuations near Rathupaswala area. Principal component analysis revealed three principal components (PCs) explaining 86.0% of the variance. PC1 (40.6%) correlated with pH, EC, and sulphate (saltwater intrusion), while PC2 (32.0%) correlated with nitrates and depth to the water table (anthropogenic nutrient pollution). A geochemical transport model indicated a cone of depression recharged by acidic groundwater from peat-soil aquifers, leading to acidic groundwater in Rathupaswala area. Previous attributions of acidic pH to the over-exploitation of groundwater by the latex factory have been reevaluated;the results suggest natural acidification from prolonged water-rock interactions with iron-rich lateritic aquifers. Groundwater pH is influenced by local climate, geology, topography, and drainage systems. It is recommended that similar water-rock interaction conditions may be present throughout the wet zone of Sri Lanka, warranting detailed studies to confirm this hypothesis.展开更多

Therefore, development of novel lipophilic antioxidant is very important. p-toluenesulfonic acid(PTSA) catalyzed esterification of dihydrocaffeic acid(DHCA) with hexanol was selected as model reaction to investigate the synthesis of lipophilic antioxidant. The highest yield of hexyl dihydrocaffeate was achieved under the following optimum conditions: 1 mol% PTSA, 1:30 molar ratio of dihydrocaffeic acid to hexanol without molecular sieves at 80 ℃ in 2 h. The relationship between temperature and the forward rate constant gave the activation energy of 22.6 k J/mol, which indicated that PTSA possessed high catalytic activity in the synthesis of hexyl dihydrocaffeate. In addition, the activity of PTSA was not inhibited by the water produced during esterification process. Importantly, this esterification could even proceed smoothly when initial water content was below 5%. In addition, the esterification of a set of phenolic acids could take place efficiently under the same conditions affording the corresponding esters in good to excellent yields. This established method will provide an efficient method for produce lipophilic antioxidants from various natural phenolic acids.展开更多

Amino acids are essential components such as valine, proline, glutamine and glutamic acid. They can be synthesized either naturally or artificially. To examine the metabolism and regulate the synthesis process, compounds labeled with nitrogen or carbon isotopes need to be used. These isotopic compounds allow for more extensive research and enable studies that would otherwise be impossible. However, their use is dependent on the availability of simple, efficient methods for isotopic analysis. Currently, the determination of the atomic fraction of carbon and nitrogen isotopes is only possible through their conversion into molecular nitrogen or carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide. This leads to the loss of information about isotopic enrichment in specific centers of the molecule. This article explores a new direct approach to determining the atomic fraction of carbon and nitrogen isotopes in the isotope-modified or identical centers of these compounds. This method eliminates the transfer process and dilution due to nitrogen and carbon impurities. It is now possible to simultaneously determine the atomic fraction of nitrogen and carbon isotopes in the research substance. This method can be applied to amino acids, making it an effective tool for proposing new research methods. Several articles [1] [2] [3] have proposed similar methods for organic compounds and amino acids.展开更多

Because the polymer commonly used for low-salinity polymer flooding (LSPF) is strongly sensitive to brine pH, its efficiency can deteriorate in carbonate reservoirs containing highly acidic formation water. In this study, polymer efficiency in an acidic carbonate reservoir was investigated experimentally for different salinity levels and SO42− concentrations. Results indicated that lowering salinity improved polymer stability, resulting in less polymer adsorption, greater wettability alteration, and ultimately, higher oil recovery. However, low salinity may not be desirable for LSPF if the injected fluid does not contain a sufficient number of sulfate (SO42−) ions. Analysis of polymer efficiency showed that more oil can be produced with the same polymer concentration by adjusting the SO42− content. Therefore, when river water, which is relatively easily available in onshore fields, is designed to be injected into an acidic carbonate reservoir, the LSPF method proposed in this study can be a reliable and environmentally friendly method with addition of a sufficient number of SO42− ions to river water.展开更多

Samples were either extracted with acid solutions or titrated with acid or base solutions. Litter was found to be a strong acid-base buffering system. Two legume species, Acacia mangium Willd and A. auriculaiformis A. Cunn, had very high litter pH values of around 6, which was 2 pH units higher than that of the soil where they grew. Litter of all other plantation species had litter pH of around 4, similar to that of the soil. Both legume species have high potential to neutralize soil acidity and the litter layer could act to shield soil against acid rain. The current stand of two legume species was estimated to be able to raise rain acidity by 0.1 to 0.4 pH units. Inorganic ions did not fully explain the pH pattern of different litter extracts, but high sodium and low nitrate partly accounted for the high pH of the two legume species. Some natural forest species had extremely low pH. As a whole, the litter of the natural climax forest was the driving force of soil acidification. Although plant residues are strong acid-base buffering system and able to adjust acidity of environment, only a few species can be expected to make soil more acid or alkaline through this mechanism since most species have litter pH values similar to those of soil where they grow.展开更多

The NH(a1△) products were measured via (2+1) resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization. Images have been accumulated for the NH(a1△) rotational states in the ground and vibrational excited state (v=0 and 1). The center-of-mass translational energy distribution derived from the NH(a1△) images implies that the CO vibrational distributions are inverted for most of the measured 1NH(v|j) internal states. The anisotropic product angular distribution observed indicates a rapid dissociation process for the N-C bond cleavage. A bimodal rotational state distribution of CO(v) has been observed, this result implies that isocyanic acid dissociates in the S1 state in two different pathways.展开更多

Acid recovery from this sort of waste sulfuric acid by diffusion dialysis is studied in the paper. The mass transfer dialysis coefficient of sulfuric acid of the membrane AFX is measured, the effect of the flowrate of the feed and ratio of feed to water is investigated, and the two kinds of membrane (AFX and S203) are compared. The results show that diffusion dialysis process can separate the metal cation from sulfuric acid effectively, but it is difficult to separate non cation impurities as As - and F -. The contrast tests of the two membranes show that the dialysis mass transfer coefficient of the membrane AFX is larger, while capacity of the removing impurities of membrane S203 is somewhat better.展开更多

The adsorption and desorption studies of tannic acid on commercial resins XAD-7 and D-201 are performed, and all data indicates resin XAD-7 can be used as an effective adsorbent for removing tannic acid during water/wastewater treatment. Furthermore, adsorption thermodynamics studies indicate different adsorption mechanisms for TA on XAD-7 and D-201. FT-IR and solid state 13C-NMR spectroscopy are used to explain the adsorption force between XAD-7 and TA. It suggests that hydrogen bonding is the main adsorption force for TA. Finally, XAD-7's adsorption capacity in the presence of different metal ions is investigated, which indicates that heavy metal ions in solutions can decrease the adsorption capacity for TA on ester resin XAD-7.展开更多

Ion Exchange technique is preferred because of reduced sludge generation compared to conventional treatment techniques and better decontamination efficiency from highly diluted solutions. Factorial design of experiments is employed to study the effect of four factors pH (3, 5, and 6), flow rate (5, 10, 15 L/hr), resin bed height (20, 40 and 60 cm) and initial concentration of the metal (100, 150 and 200 mgl-1) at three levels. The efficiency of metal removal was determined after 100 min of treatment. Main effects and interaction effects of the four factors were analyzed using statistical techniques. A regression model was recommended and it was found to fit the experimental data very well. The results were analyzed statistically using the Student’s t-test, analysis of variance, F-test and lack of fit to define most important process variables affecting the percentage “Cu2+” removal. In this study , pH was thus found to be the most important variable.展开更多

SEM, EDS and Raman spectra analyses were applied to studying the adsorption capacity, reaction kinetics and possible adsorption mechanism in detail. Results showed that the adsorption capacity of D301 resin for molybdenum from high acidic leach solution was up to 463.63 mg/g. Results of the kinetic analysis indicated that the adsorption process was controlled by the particle diffusion with the activation energy 25.47 k J/mol(0.9-1.2 mm) and 20.38 k J/mol(0.6-0.9 mm). Furthermore, the molybdenum loaded on the resin could be eluted by using 2 mol/L ammonia hydroxide solution. Besides, dynamic continuous column experiments verified direct extraction of molybdenum from acidic leach solutions by ion exchange resin D301 and the upstream flow improved dynamic continuous absorption.展开更多

The proportio...Soil samples collected from several acid soils in Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces of the southern China were employed to characterize the chemical species of aluminum ions in the soils. The proportion of monomeric inorganic Al to total Al in soil solution was in the range of 19% to 70%, that of monomeric organic Al (Al OM) to total Al ranged from 7.7% to 69%, and that of the acid soluble Al to total Al was generally smaller and was lower than 20% in most of the acid soils studied. The Al OM concentration in soil solution was positively correlated with the content of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and also affected by the concentration of Al 3+ . The complexes of aluminum with fluoride (Al F) were the predominant forms of inorganic Al, and the proportion of Al F complexes to total inorganic Al increased with pH. Under strongly acid condition, Al 3+ was also a major form of inorganic Al, and the proportion of Al 3+ to total inorganic Al decreased with increasing pH. The proportions of Al OH and Al SO 4 complexes to total inorganic Al were small and were not larger than 10% in the most acid soils. The concentration of inorganic Al in solution depended largely on pH and the concentration of total F in soil solution. The concentrations of Al OM, Al 3+ ,Al F and Al OH complexes in topsoil were higher than those in subsoil and decreased with the increase in soil depth. The chemical species of aluminum ions were influenced by pH. The concentrations of Al OM, Al 3+ , Al F complexes and Al OH complexes decreased with the increase in pH.展开更多

The results show that La^(3+) (0.41~820×10^(-6) mol·L^(-1)) significantly promotes GAS in a concentration-dependant manner. Proglutamine, a blocker of gastrin receptor, potently inhibits GAS, and it may block the promotive effect of La^(3+) on GAS, and this effect increases with the increase of proglutamin concentration. Cimetidine, a blocker of histamine H_2 receptor, also potently inhibits GAS, and blocks the promotive effect of La^(3+) on GAS in the same manner with proglutamine. These results suggest that La^(3+) promotes GAS in isolated stomach possibly by stimulating the releases of gastrin from G cell and Histamine from ECL cell or by activating the gastrin receptors and Histamine H_2 receptors on the parietal cell, thereby accelerating the acid secretion of parietal cells in stomach.展开更多

The effects of such factors as reaction time, reaction temperature and pH value on the loading capacity of TTA in resins were investigated. The results showed that the optimum reaction conditions are as follows: time 9-12 h; temperature 90-105'C; pH value 6-10. The loading capacities of TTA can reach 0.15, 0.14, and 0.11 mmol/g-1 when the functional group of FQ resin was - OCH2CH2NHC2H4NH2, - O(CH2CH2NH)2C2H4NH2 and - O(CH2CH2NH)3C2H4NH2), respectively. The structures of resins were characterized by FTIR spectra. The primary study on the adsorption properties of the resins for metal ions showed that there are two kinds of adsorption mechanisms i.e. ion exchange and chelate in the adsorption process. TTA-FQ resins have much higher adsorption selectivity for Pb2+and Zn2+ than for Cu2+ and Ni2+. These resins can probably be used for separating Pb2+ or Zn2+ in the mixture of metal ions or for treating wastewater containing heavy metal ions.展开更多

The results showed that 96.9% of FA was degraded after 40 min treatment by the plasma/O_3 process. FA degradation efficiency increased with the p H values. The presence of suspended solid and humic acid inhibited FA degradation. FA degradation efficiency increased as the water temperature increased to 30 °C. However, the further increase in water temperature was adverse for FA degradation. Effects of common inorganic ions on FA degradation were also investigated. The addition of Cl^- inhibited the FA degradation, whileCO_3^(2-) had both negative and positive influences on FA degradation.NO_3^- andSO_4^(2-) did not have significant effect on FA degradation. Fe^(3+)and Cu^(2+)benefited FA degradation through the Fenton-like and catalytic ozonation reactions.展开更多

Therefore, when river water, which is relatively easily available in onshore fields, is designed to be injected into an acidic carbonate reservoir, the LSPF method proposed in this study can be a reliable and environmentally friendly method with addition of a sufficient number of SO42− ions to river water.

文摘Aqueous zinc ion batteries(AZIBs)are one of the promising energy storage devices. However, uncontrolled dendrite and side reactions have seriously hindered its further application. In this study, the metal-organic framework(MOF)functionalized glass fiber separator(GF-PFC-31)was used to regulate interfacial behavior of zinc metal anode, enabling the development of high-performance AZIBs.In PFC-31,there areπ-πinteractions between two adjacent benzene rings with a spacing of 3.199 A.This spacing can block the passage of[Zn(H_(2)O)_6]^(2+)(8.6 A in diameter)through the GF-PFC-31 separator to a certain extent, which promotes the deposition process of Zn ions.In addition, the sulfonic acid group(-S03H)contained in GF-PFC-31 can form a hydrogen bonding network with H_(2)O,which can provide a desolvation effect and reduce the side reaction.Consequently,GF-PFC-31 separator achieves uniform deposition of Zn ions. The Zn‖GF-PFC-31‖Zn symmetric cell exhibits stable cycle life(3000 h at 1.2 mA cm^(-2),2000 h at 0.3 mA cm^(-2),and 2000 h at 5.0 mA cm^(-2)),and Zn‖GF-PFC-31‖MnO_(2) full cell with GF-PFC-31 separator can cycle for 1000 cycles at 1.2 A g^(-1)with capacity retention rate of 82.5%.This work provides a promising method to achieve high-performance AZIBs.
文摘The role of forest litter as an acid-base buffering system was assessed by litter from plantation and natural forests in South China. Although plant residues are strong acid-base buffering system and able to adjust acidity of environment, only a few species can be expected to make soil more acid or alkaline through this mechanism since most species have litter pH values similar to those of soil where they grow.

文摘The photodissociation dynamics of isocyanic acid (HNCO) has been studied by the time- sliced velocity map ion imaging technique at 193 nm. A bimodal rotational state distribution of CO(v) has been observed, this result implies that isocyanic acid dissociates in the S1 state in two different pathways.
文摘In the process of sulfuric acid production from pyrite, there is a lot of waste acid produced in fume washing with dilute acid. The contrast tests of the two membranes show that the dialysis mass transfer coefficient of the membrane AFX is larger, while capacity of the removing impurities of membrane S203 is somewhat better.

文摘In this paper, humic acid (HA) was ultra-filtered into different molecular weight sections and was characterized by multielement analysis, UV254/TOC, FT-IR and three-dimensional fluorescence spectrometric. Since humic acids of different molecular weights have different hydrophilic and molecular size, the maximum adsorption capacity of basic ion exchange resins appears on the humic acid whose molecular weight ranges from 6000 to 10,000 Da.

文摘Tannic acid and its related compounds are known as refractory organic pollutants, and it can create serious problems for the environment. Finally, XAD-7's adsorption capacity in the presence of different metal ions is investigated, which indicates that heavy metal ions in solutions can decrease the adsorption capacity for TA on ester resin XAD-7.
文摘A factorial experimental design method was used to examine the “Cu2+” removal from acid mine drainage wastewater by ion exchange technique. In this study , pH was thus found to be the most important variable.

文摘The adsorption behavior of ion exchange resin D301 in the extraction of hexavalent molybdenum from high acidic leach solution was investigated. Besides, dynamic continuous column experiments verified direct extraction of molybdenum from acidic leach solutions by ion exchange resin D301 and the upstream flow improved dynamic continuous absorption.
文摘Soil samples collected from several acid soils in Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang and Anhui provinces of the southern China were employed to characterize the chemical species of aluminum ions in the soils. The concentrations of Al OM, Al 3+ , Al F complexes and Al OH complexes decreased with the increase in pH.
文摘To explore the effect and the mechanism of La^(3+) on gastric acid secretion (GAS) of isolated mouse stomach with perfused lumen, 12 cm H_2O column intragastric pressure-provided, whole stomach preparations from mice were incubated in buffer at 37 ℃ in vitro, and perfusate was measured for pH with a pHS-3 type pH meter. These results suggest that La^(3+) promotes GAS in isolated stomach possibly by stimulating the releases of gastrin from G cell and Histamine from ECL cell or by activating the gastrin receptors and Histamine H_2 receptors on the parietal cell, thereby accelerating the acid secretion of parietal cells in stomach.

文摘Several kinds of novel chelating resins bearing the functional group of tartaric acid (TTA-FQ-12, TTA-FQ-23, and TTA-FQ-34) were synthesized by reacting epoxy maleic anhydride, which was prepared through the oxidization reaction of maleic anhydride by hydrogen peroxide, with phenol-formaldehyde resin containing polyamine (FQ resins series). These resins can probably be used for separating Pb2+ or Zn2+ in the mixture of metal ions or for treating wastewater containing heavy metal ions.
文摘In this study, dielectric barrier discharge plasma and ozone(O_3) were combined to synergistically degrade trans-ferulic acid(FA), and the effect of water quality on FA degradation was studied. Fe^(3+)and Cu^(2+)benefited FA degradation through the Fenton-like and catalytic ozonation reactions.
文摘There are numerous impurities in wet-process phosphoric acid, among which manganese is one of detrimental metallic impurities, and it causes striking negative effects on the industrial phosphoric acid production and downstream commodity. This article investigated the adsorption behavior of manganese from phosphoric acid employing Sinco-430 cationic ion-exchange resin.Resorting FT-IR and XPS characterizations, the adsorption mechanism was proved to be that manganese was combined with sulfonic acid group.Several crucial parameters such as temperature, phosphoric acid content and resin dose were studied to optimize adsorption efficiency.Through optimization, removal percentage and sorption capacity of manganese reached 53.12 wt%,28.34 mg·g^-1,respectively.Pseudo-2nd-order kinetic model simulated kinetics data best and the activation energy was evaluated as 6.34 kJ·mol^-1 for the sorption reaction of manganese. In addition, the global adsorption rate was first controlled by film diffusion process and second determined by pore diffusion process. It was found that the resin could adsorb up to 50.24 mg·g^-1 for manganese.Equilibrium studies showed that Toth adsorption isotherm model fitted best, followed by Temkin and Langmuir adsorption isotherm models.Thermodynamic analysis showed that manganese adsorption was an endothermic process with enhanced randomness and spontaneity.
