The Permian is one of the most important periods during which the vegetative earth witnessed the transition from icehouse to greenhouse climate and the global environment changes.Organisms on the planet encountered great challenge and the demise of swamp caused the extinction of arborescent lycopods and the rising of Mesophytic plants accomplished the floral transition from the Paleophytic to Mesophytic vegetation. In order to depict the climatic changes and floral succession in the middle and high latitudes of the North Hemisphere, palynological investigation was engaged, and 40 samples collected from the uppermost of Taerlang Formation,Hongyanchi Formation and Quanzijie Formation in the Tianshan Town,Turpan-Hami Basin, eastern Xinjiang,China. The result shows that the palynoflora in the studied area is composed of 50 species of 33 genera, dominated by disaccites and striatiti gymnosperm pollen, and characterized by diverse Protohaploxypinus,Hamia-pollenites,Alisporites and Klausipollenites. It is quite similar to those Middle and Late Permian palynological assemblages reported in the Dalongkou section and other localities in southern margin of Junggar Basin, and aged at Middle and Late Permian. The diversity of typical Angara and sub-Angara pollen, such as Falcisporites,Alisporites,Protohaploxypinus,Vittatina,Lunatisporites,Hamiapollenites, etc.indicates that the studied palynoflora belonged to the sub-Angara phytoprovince, while the presence of Lueckisporites virkkiae implied Euramerica pollen intruded northward sometimes. The paleoclimate of the studied area might be warm and humid with fluctuated dry seasons during the late Guadalupian and early Lopingian time. 展开更多

The high content of pteridophytes spores is characteristic for this assemblage. The further characters are in decrease of abundance-tricolpate pollen, Ginkgocycadophytus, pollen of Taxodiaceae, Cupressaceae and Taxaceae (TCT), bisaccate pollen of Pinaceae, and triporate pollen. The bone-bearing burials of Wulaga dinosaur site formed under conditions of vast swampy river valley covered by ferns and taxodialeans. Tricolpate pollen, produced by plants, close to those of Platanaceae, Fagaceae, Betulaceae, and Juglandaceae, counts in favor of valley river open canopy forests. 展开更多

The present paper is to discuss the geological age and sedimentary environment based mainly on the characteristics of the palynological assemblage in the intercalated tuffaceous sand mudstones of the Upper Point Hennequin Group in the Admirelty Bay, King George Island, Antarctica. More than 40 species, mainly the Late Paleogene plant community in Gondwana and belonging to Weddellian biogeographic Province, were encountered within the volcano sedimentary rocks of the Upper Point Hennequin Group. The index member is the genus Nothofagidites . The occurrence of N. cf. saraensis and N. cf. flemingii and the absence of Proteacidites spp. indicates that the sporopollen bearing rocks is of Oligocene age, which were deposited in a limnetic zone near medium lower mountains environment with warm and humid climate. 展开更多

The Early Permian (Shansi + Lower Shihhotse Formations) palynofloras of Longshoushan are dominated by Cathaysian-Euramerican common forms, mainly composed of pteridophytic and pteridospermous spores. But up to the Lower Shihhotse Formation, gymnosperms greatly developed, and they possibly already dominated the vegetation in the Upper Shihhotse Formation; while in the late Late Permian, they indicate a strong colour of Subangara area. In other words, during the whole Permian, the Cathaysian flora had a history from prosperity to decline, and Subangara plants might have had a reverse tendency there. 展开更多

The coastal plain of Laizhou Bay in Bohai Sea is a transitional area of land-sea interaction.Sediments in this area can bear significant information of sea-level fluctuation, climate change,as well as regional geological setting. Here,in this study, new sporopollen data from three boreholes(GK138,GK111 and GK95)in the coastal plain of Laizhou Bay,Bohai Sea were investigated, and the pollen spectrum since the late middle Pleistocene was established as six sporopollen assemblage zones(Ⅰ-Ⅵ),i.e.,Pinus-Quercus-Artemisia,Gramineae-Artemisia-Chenopodiaceae,Picea-Pinus-QuercusArtemisia,Picea-Pinus-Betula-Gramineae-Artemisia,Picea-Pinus-Cupressaceae-Chenopodiaceae and Pinus-Quercus-Gramineae-Artemisia-Chenopodiaceae.Combining with existing sedimentary successions and detailed radiocarbon dating results of the sediments from the three boreholes, paleovegetation and climatic evolution since the late middle Pleistocene were reconstructed. The findings revealed that climatic changes in this area since the late middle Pleistocene were characterized by alternating cold-arid and warmhumid conditions, which were well correlated with marine isotopic stages(MIS).The present study offers specific insight into the climatic dynamics in the North China Plain since the late middle Pleistocene and provides evidence of a clear link among the palynoflora in the area, the glacial-interglacial period climatedriven sea-level changes, and the marineδ^(18)O records. 展开更多

Wang’s report, the Upper Eocene in most part of Guangxi is represented by Dongjun and Nadu Formations, with its type section lying around Nadu area of Bose Basin. Palynoflora from the Tertiary sediments in Ningming, Changdun and Shangsi of southwest Guangxi indicates the Upper Eocene features, while the sediments are also comparable with Nadu Formation of the Bose Basin in lithological character. The present note concerns the pollen result from the sections of the above-mentioned 展开更多
