Monte-Carlo based random passive energy beamforming for reconfigurable intelligent surface assisted wireless power transfer

Reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS)employs passive beamforming to control the wireless propagation channel,which benefits the wireless communication capacity and the received energy efficiency of wireless power transfer(WPT)systems.Such beamforming schemes are classified as discrete and non-convex integer program-ming problems.In this paper,we propose a Monte-Carlo(MC)based random energy passive beamforming of RIS to achieve the maximum received power of electromagnetic(EM)WPT systems.Generally,the Gibbs sampling and re-sampling methods are employed to generate phase shift vector samples.And the sample with the maximum received power is considered the optimal solution.In order to adapt to the application scenarios,we develop two types of passive beamforming algorithms based on such MC sampling methods.The first passive beamforming uses an approximation of the integer programming as the initial sample,which is calculated based on the channel information.And the second one is a purely randomized algorithm with the only total received power feedback.The proposed methods present several advantages for RIS control,e.g.,fast convergence,easy implementation,robustness to the channel noise,and limited feedback requirement,and they are applicable even if the channel information is unknown.According to the simulation results,our proposed methods outperform other approxi-mation and genetic algorithms.With our methods,the WPT system even significantly improves the power effi-ciency in the nonline-of-sight(NLOS)environment. 展开更多

The acceleration grid power supply(AGPS) is a crucial part of the Negative-ion Neutral Beam Injection system in the China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor,which includes a 3-phase passive(diode) rectifier.To diagnose and localize faults in the rectifier,this paper proposes a frequencydomain analysis-based fault diagnosis algorithm for the rectifier in AGPS.First,time-domain expressions and spectral characteristics of the output voltage of the TPTL-NPC inverter-based power supply are analyzed.Then,frequency-domain analysis-based fault diagnosis and frequency-domain analysis-based sub-fault diagnosis algorithms are proposed to diagnose open circuit(OC) faults of diode(s),which benefit from the analysis of harmonics magnitude and phase-angle of the output voltage.Only a fundamental period is needed to diagnose and localize exact faults,and a strong Variable-duration Fault Detection Method is proposed to identify acceptable ripple from OC faults.Detailed simulations and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness,quickness,and robustness of the proposed algorithms,and the diagnosis algorithms proposed in this article provide a significant method for the fault diagnosis of other rectifiers and converters. 展开更多

Diode Pumped High Peak Power Quasi Q-Switched and Passively Q-Switched Nd:YVO<sub>4</sub>Lasers at 1064 nm and 532 nm using Cr:YAG and KTP crystals

Diode end-pumped solid-state lasers have the potential to yield high quality laser beams with high efficiency for laser range finding and warning receiver applications as well as day and night military laser designation systems. In this paper we presents theoretical calculations using Advanced Dynamics Professional LASCAD software and experimental studies for a high power pigtailed fiber diode laser module of 8 W operating at 808 nm with a specially designed high efficiency cooling system, end pumped high-efficiency Nd:YVO4 laser of 3 × 3 × 10 mm rod and overall cavity length of 44 mm. To the best of our knowledge a self Q-switching effects was generated in Nd:YVO4 laser by changing the cavity dimensions and the position of the intracavity KTP crystal at certain regime of operation for the first time, in which the cavity length is reduced to be 30 mm and the distance between Nd:YVO4 rod and KTP crystal is only 1mm. Self Q-switched laser pulse at 532 nm with high peak power of 96 W, pulse width of 88 ns at FWHM and repetition rate of 400 kHz was achieved. Experimental studies of a passive Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser using Cr:YAG crystal with three different transmissions of 30%, 40% and 70% were investigated. Passive Q-switched laser pulse at 1064 nm and narrow line width of less than 1.5 nm with highest peak power of nearly 18 kW, short pulse width of less than 4 ns at FWHM and higher repetition rate of 45 kHz using Cr:YAG with transmission of 30% was achieved for the first time. 展开更多

This problem of harmonic distortion can be mitigated by reshaping the non-sinusoidal waveform to pure sine wave. Different wave shaping techniques have been developed by using different filters among which one is tuned passive filter. This paper proposed power factor improvement and harmonic mitigation of AC-DC converters based on separately excited DC motor using tuned passive filter. In this paper,a compact mathematical model having an elegant structure,together with a generic control framework,are proposed for generic power systems dominated by power converters that are interconnected through a passive transmission and distribution(T&D)grid,by adopting the port-Hamiltonian(pH)systems theory and the fundamental circuit theory.The models of generic T&D lines are developed and then the model of a generic T&D grid is established.With the proposed control framework,the controlled converters are proven to be passive and Input-to-State Stable(ISS).The compact mathematical model is scalable and can be applied to power systems with multiple power electronic converters with generic passive controllers,passive local loads,and different types of passive T&D lines connected in a meshed configuration without self-loops,so it is very generic.Moreover,the resulting power system is proven to be ISS as well.The analysis is carried out without assumptions on constant frequency/voltage,constant loads,and/or lossless networks,except the need of passivity for all parts involved,and without using the Clarke/Park transformations or the graph theory.To simplify the presentation,three-phase balanced systems are adopted but the results can be easily adapted for single-phase or unbalanced three-phase systems. 展开更多

The purpose of this work is to determine the appropriate allocation of a single tuned passive filter “STPF” in a real distribution network at Tala city to prevent harmonic distortion caused by nonlinear loads. This design will cover the ideal filter parameter as well as the best filter position. The filter design is based on single and multi-objective functions that optimize the cost of the proposed filters, real power losses, total harmonic distortion “THD,” and individual harmonic distortion “IHD”. Upper and lower limitations for filter parameters, quality factor, voltage and harmonic distortion limits are determined using inequality constraints. This will be done under the equality constraint of power balance. The challenge of optimization is solved using two modern algorithms, jellyfish optimization technique “JFOT” and arithmetic optimization algorithm “AOA”, in which the placements of the filters and their parameters are selected. IEEE 33-bus radial system and an actual system as a part of the Egyptian network at Tala city are used for demonstrating the results obtained by the proposed techniques. The results reveal that the system’s harmonic distortion of current and voltage is reduced less than the limitations of the IEEE 519 standards. 展开更多

With the increase of the clock frequency and silicon integration, power aware computing has become a critical concern in the design of the embedded processor and system-on-chip (SoC). Dynamic voltage scaling (DVS) is an effective method for low-power designs. However, traditional DVS methods have two deficiencies. First, they have a conservative safety margin which is not necessary for most of the time. Second, they are exclusively concerned with the critical stage and ignore the significant potential free slack time of the noncritical stage. These factors lead to a large amount of power waste. In this paper, a novel pipeline structure with ultra-low power consumption is proposed. It cuts off the safety margin and takes use of the noncritical stages at the same time. A prototype pipeline is designed in 0.13 μm technology and analyzed. The result shows that a large amount of energy can be saved by using this structure. Compared with the fixed voltage case, 50% of the energy can be saved, and with respect to the traditional adaptive voltage scaling design, 37.8% of the energy can be saved. 展开更多

Power reduction has become an important issue in digital circuit design, especially for high performance portable devices (such as cell phones, PDAs, etc.). Many power reduction techniques have also been proposed from the system level down to the circuit level. High-speed computation has thus become the expected norm from the average user, instead of being the province of the few with access to a powerful mainframe. Power must be added to the portable unit, even when power is available in non-portable applications, the issue of low-power design is becoming critical. Thus, it is evident that methodologies for the design of high-throughput, low-power digital systems are needed. Techniques for low-power operation are shown in this paper, which use the lowest possible supply voltage coupled with architectural, logic style, circuit, and technology optimizations. The threshold vol-tages of the MTCMOS devices for both low and high Vth are constructed as the low threshold Vth is approximately 150 - 200 mv whereas the high threshold Vth is managed by varying the thickness of the oxide Tox. Hence we are using different threshold voltages with minimum voltages and hence considered this project as ultra-low power designing. 展开更多

This mechanism tries to read tag IDs in the near field, and hence validates tag’s usability. For UHF RFID applications, tag usability is a very rough indicator and cannot characterize the performance of a tag accurately. In practice, effective reading distance is the key performance index of a tag. This study proposes chip’s turn-on power approach to characterize the effective reading distance of UHF RFID passive tags. The experimental results presented in this paper demonstrated the feasibility of this approach. Moreover, in comparison with the large-scale setup, this mini-scale setup produces a smaller error in the estimation of the effective reading distance. Using a mini anechoic chamber, the mini-scale setup can be adopted in practice for online tag performance inspection to grade tag’s compliance with effective reading distance. 展开更多

Perovskite solar cells(PSCs) as a rising star in the photovoltaic field have received rapidly increasing attention recently due to the boosting power conversion efficiencies(PCEs) from 3.8% to 25.7% in the last13 years. Nevertheless, the conventional PSCs with three-dimensional(3D) halide perovskites as light absorbers suffer from inferior PCEs and poor durability under sunlight, high-temperature and humid conditions due to the high defect amount and structural instability of 3D perovskites, respectively. To tackle these crucial issues, lower-dimensional halide perovskites including zero-dimensional(0D), onedimensional(1D), and two-dimensional(2D) perovskites have been employed as efficient passivators to boost the PCEs and durability of 3D-PSCs due to the high structural stability and superior resistance against moisture, heat and sunlight. Therefore, in order to achieve better understanding about the advantages and superiorities of combining low-dimensional perovskites with their 3D counterparts in improving the PCEs and durability of 3D-PSCs, the recent advances in the development and fabrication of mixeddimensional PSCs with 1D/0D perovskites as passivators are summarized and discussed in the review.The superiority of 1D/0D perovskites as passivators over 2D counterparts, the passivation mechanism and the methods of 1D/0D perovskites are also presented and discussed. Furthermore, the rules to choose1D/0D perovskites or relevant spacer cations are also emphasized. On this basis, several specific strategies to design and fabricate mixed-dimensional PSCs with 1D/0D perovskites are presented and discussed.Finally, the crucial challenges and future research directions of mixed-dimensional PSCs with 1D/0D perovskites as passivators are also proposed and discussed. 光储接入牵引供电系统应急供电方案下低频稳定性研究

“双碳”目标背景下,新能源较大规模接入牵引网可能成为铁路运输新趋势。为对意外失电的列车紧急牵引并打破铁路领域传统用能壁垒,实现铁路能源自给型低碳供电并与电网互为备用,各系统能量互联互通,首次提出一种应急供电方案灵活利用牵... “双碳”目标背景下,新能源较大规模接入牵引网可能成为铁路运输新趋势。为对意外失电的列车紧急牵引并打破铁路领域传统用能壁垒,实现铁路能源自给型低碳供电并与电网互为备用,各系统能量互联互通,首次提出一种应急供电方案灵活利用牵引网侧接入的光储装置牵引列车并对“光-储-车网”耦合系统的低频稳定性展开研究。首先,制定RPC双模式单相全桥逆变器的控制方法结合光储运行状态协调控制策略划分工作模态;然后,利用小信号及状态空间平均法建立光储、客车(CRH3型动车)以及投影到dq坐标系下铁路功率调节器直流侧阻抗模型;最后,利用所得“光-储-车网”3个子系统的导纳模型,引入一种适应多工况的无源判据,揭示控制器参数及多源对牵引供电系统电气稳定性的影响规律。研究结果表明:所提方案通过新能源及储能装置在昼夜多工况下均能长时持续稳定牵引列车,当新能源或电网供电出现意外二者可互补切换,故障条件下机车仍可受电稳定行走。此外,光储电压环比例增益对该系统阻抗匹配性稳定性有较强的电气敏感性,所建模型结合无源判据指导调参接入不同供电源补偿系统阻抗可治理部分失稳现象,该方案下储能系统具有良好的补偿特性。在Starsim半实物实验平台验证了“光-储-车网”耦合系统应急供电方案的可行性及稳定性研究的正确性。 展开更多

设计并实现了一款基于0.25μm GaN高电子迁移率晶体管(HEMT)工艺的100 W超宽带功率放大器。基于SiC无源工艺设计了集成无源器件(IPD)输入预匹配电路芯片;设计了基于陶瓷基片的T型集成输出预匹配电路;基于建立的传输线变压器(TLT)的精确... 设计并实现了一款基于0.25μm GaN高电子迁移率晶体管(HEMT)工艺的100 W超宽带功率放大器。基于SiC无源工艺设计了集成无源器件(IPD)输入预匹配电路芯片;设计了基于陶瓷基片的T型集成输出预匹配电路;基于建立的传输线变压器(TLT)的精确模型,设计了宽带阻抗变换器,在超宽频带内将50Ω的端口阻抗变换至约12.5Ω,再通过多节微带电路与预匹配后的GaN HEMT芯片实现阻抗匹配。最终,以较小的电路尺寸实现了功率放大器的超宽带性能指标。测试结果表明,功率放大器在0.2~2.0 GHz频带内,在漏极电压36 V、输入功率9 W、连续波的工作条件下,输出功率大于103 W,漏极效率大于50%,输入电压驻波比(VSWR)≤2.5。 展开更多
