[Method]The estrus of Holstein cows during peak lactation period were identified by manual observation and pedometer monitoring. [Result]Compared with manual observation,the detection rate of estrus in Holstein cows using pedometer monitoring was increased by 24. 01%,which reduced the labor cost and enhanced accuracy rate. [Conclusion]The research could provide reliable basis for estrus identification of cows. 展开更多

Estimation of peak wave period from surface texture motion in videos

Wave information retrieval from videos captured by a single camera has been increasingly applied in marine observation.However,when the camera observes ocean waves at low grazing angles,the accurate extraction of wave information from videos will be affected by the interference of the fine ripples on the sea surface.To solve this problem,this study develops a method for estimating peak wave periods from videos captured at low grazing angles.The method extracts the motion of the sea surface texture from the video and obtains the peak wave period via the spectral analysis.The calculation results captured from real-world videos are compared with those obtained from X-band radar inversion and tracking buoy movement,with maximum deviations of 8%and 14%,respectively.The analysis of the results shows that the peak wave period of the method has good stability.In addition,this paper uses a pinhole camera model to convert the displacement of the texture from pixel height to actual height and performs moving average filtering on the displacement of the texture,thus conducting a preliminary exploration of the inversion of significant wave height.This study helps to extend the application of sea surface videos. 展开更多

Documented materials, especially those about flooding catastrophe, are abundant comprehensive and well-preserved, which makes possible the systematical collection of materials about historical document about climate evolution in Changjiang (Yangtze) Delta region and its neighboring areas. We make good use of the exceptional information to discuss the genesis and principle of flooding in this region. Analysis shows that the main flooding periods in the studied region in the last 2000 years were the Western Jin Dynasty, Eastern Jin Dynasty, Northern and Southern Dynasties, Southern Song Dynasty, Yuan Dynasty, Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty. The periods with flooding peak values were the 4th century, 5th century, 7th century, 9th century, early 12th century, early 14th century, mid-15th century, and early 18th century A.D. Possibility of reappearance of flooding peak value in the early 21st century will be great, and the hazard prevention and the hazard reduction will be still hard. 展开更多

The Early Cretaceous represents a peak period of the North China Craton(NCC)destruction.A comprehensive analysis of crustal deformation during this period can reveal processes and dynamics of the destruction.The peak destruction of the NCC was associated with intense extension whose representative deformation products are metamorphic core complexes(MCCs),extensional domes and rifted basins.These MCCs occurred along both northern and southern margins of the NCC,and resulted from synchronous extension and magmatism,showing difference from the typical orogen-type MCCs in many aspects.The MCCs of the Early Cretaceous were replaced by extensional domes under relatively weak extension and uplift.In contrast to a major depression-type basin of the Early Cretaceous in the western NCC,rifted basins of the same age in the eastern NCC appeared as medium-to small-scale ones extensively.In the eastern NCC,the rifted basins north of the Bohai Bay are characterized by a feature similar to an active rift whereas those south of the Bohai present similarity to a passive rift.Various sorts of extensional structures developed during the peak destruction indicate a stable stress state of NE-SE extension over the entire central to eastern NCC,consistent with the plate margin-driven stress field.Spatial distribution of the extensional structures presents an 1800 km wide back-arc extension region in the central to eastern NCC,consistent with the Paleo-Pacific slab rollback model following flat subduction.Temporal-spatial variation of initial extension and volcanic activity during the peak period also supports the rollback model right after the flat oceanic slab.The crustal deformation evolution demonstrates that the peak destruction of the NCC took place after the B-episode compression of the Yanshan Movement of the earliest Early Cretaceous and terminated with onset of the C-episode compression of the earliest Late Cretaceous. 展开更多

The propagation of waves in shallow waters is affected by the bottom topography unlike deep water waves of the coastal environment.Due to the interaction of the wave with bed topography,the wave transformation processes occur.Refraction,diffraction,shoaling,and breaking are the wave transforma-tion processes that occur in the coastal environment.The significant wave height over rugged topography is a standardized statistics to denote the characteristic height of the random waves in a sea state.There-fore,the objective of the present study is to predict the significant wave height over rugged topography.The SWAN standalone and SWAN DHH platform are used to predict significant wave height over rugged topography in Mehamn harbour,Norway.The SWAN model results are almost similar to the lab data of Vold and Lothe(2009)for all the 22 scenarios at all the output locations.Further,the four cases reported by Taehun(2011)and lab data from Vold and Lothe(2009)for that four cases are compared with the SWAN model results.It is observed that the SWAN model results are much closer to the lab data of Vold and Lothe(2009). 展开更多
