Continuous development of technology provides an opportunity to incorporate feedback in online assessments.The mode of online instruction during the pandemic was the most significant survival change.Technology enabled every teacher and student to enter a virtual classroom to make sense of education.Feedback is part of language instruction and is a powerful key to improving students’learning performance.Feedback plays an influential and crucial role in teaching and learning.Feedback is an invaluable,ultimate learning tool for learners that aids them in not committing the same error again and creates impetus.Thus,knowing about formative exam feedback is students’right because quality feedback allures them.Given students’eagerness,providing feedback is considered a good practice to be followed by all the teaching faculty.Apropos of online feedback,the present study attempts to study how pedagogical agents provide online feedback in language assessments.The study also considers the characteristics of pedagogical conversational agents that are suitable for providing feedback in online language assessment.Simply put,the study encapsulates that screen agents play an essential role in students’motivation and acceptability of learning through feedback.

A Study on the Pedagogical Application of Chinese New Year Culture in International Chinese Language Education

Culture teaching is an inseparable part of International Chinese Language Education,and it has great significance in international Chinese language teaching.Students can enhance their interest in Chinese language learning and improve their learning effect through understanding the excellent traditional Chinese culture,at the same time,culture teaching can help to disseminate the Chinese culture and promote the development of a multicultural world.Taking the teaching of Chinese New Year culture as an example,we analyze the current teaching materials involving Chinese New Year culture with high popularity and acceptance,put forward effective teaching methods matching the feasibility of teaching Chinese New Year culture,and then present the specific teaching design of Chinese New Year culture,in order to provide references for the teaching of culture in International Chinese Language Education.

The Practical Path to Cultivating Innovative Talents:Implementing Cross-Disciplinary Learning Communities in Environmental Design Education

In response to the national strategy of“vigorously cultivating interdisciplinary talents and actively promoting interdisciplinary integration,”this article focuses on the nationally recognized Environmental Design program at Hezhou University’s College of Design,leveraging local industry advantages to engage in interdisciplinary integration through educational practices.Using the“Construction of the Panoramic Virtual Nature Museum of the Guizhou Crocodile Lizard at Mount Dagui”as a case study,we aim to establish a professional and interdisciplinary learning community,incorporate student-centered interactive teaching methods,boost student motivation,enhance teaching quality,nurture forward-thinking versatile innovative talents,and provide a guideline for interdisciplinary educational reform.

Reflection on Classroom Teaching Innovation Triggered by Non-Engfish Majors＇ Evaluation on Chinese and Foreign Instructor＇s Pedagogies

Non-English majors＇ evaluation on teachers is a vital way to get feedback of English language classroom teaching and learning. This paper reports on a study which used a discourse-analytic approach to look into the existing problems in English classroom teaching at undergraduates＇ level. The ways of searching solutions for the problems are also discussed.

Historical Development in L2 Writing Pedagogy

This paper reviews a succession of pedagogical orientations in second/foreign language (L2 hereafter) writing,each representing a different conception of the nature of writing.The author argues that the historical development reflects persistent conflicts in the pragmatist and critical approaches in L2 writing,and calls for the search of new writing pedagogies that can satisfy both students'personal and social needs in writing.

Operationalizing physical literacy through sport education

Physical literacy （PL）, as embodied within physical education （PE）, has been vaunted as having increasing importance as a disposition for students of all abilities to establish lifelong adherence to physical activity. The purpose of this paper was to provide a discussion of how the pedagogical features of a contemporary pedagogical model, Sport Education （SE）, may be used to operationalize PL in PE and what empirical evidence currently exists to validate this claim. Substantial empirical evidence exists that the attributes associated with the development of PL （Whitehead, 2010） can be operationalized in PE with the effective implementation of the model. SE has distinct pedagogical features which positively contribute to many of the dimensions of PL and can further an individuals＇ journey towards greater PL and having an embodied self within PE. That stated, there remains concern that the context for this embodiment remains too narrow to be viewed as a panacea for the development of lifelong physical activity. SE must be developed as a connective specialism if these PL attributes are to transform the motivation and confidence for individuals to capitalize on their innate physical potential and make a more significant contribution to the quality of life.

An Affective-Motivational Interface for a Pedagogical Agent

This research is framed within the affective computing, which explains the importance of emotions in human cognition (decision making, perception, interaction and human intelligence). Applying this approach to a pedagogical agent is an essential part to enhance the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process of an intelligent learning system. This work focuses on the design of the inference engine that will give life to the interface, where the latter is represented by a pedagogical agent. The inference engine is based on an affective-motivational model. This model is implemented by using artificial intelligence technique called fuzzy cognitive maps.

Evaluating Pedagogical Quality of Learning Activities Using Fuzzy Evaluation Mappings: The Case of Pedagogical Games of Mathematical Proof

This paper introduces a conceptual framework for developing pedagogical games of mathematical proof (PGMP) designed to help non-STEM students learn mathematical reasoning in a playful manner and without “fear”. Within the constructivist learning paradigm it develops an in-class learning activity where social science students learn the concept of mathematical deduction playfully using toys to construct tables from which formal proofs of propositions are derived without calculations. A PGMP pedagogy quality assurance evaluation method based on fuzzy evaluation mappings capturing learning effectiveness, learning efficiency, and learning satisfaction is introduced. Our results from an in-class experiment show that pedagogical games of mathematical proof help non-STEM students to effectively engage with mathematical reasoning playfully. The results are consistent according to a quality assurance consistency index.

Based on a survey of intercultural competence in intercultural communication in English, this paper discusses the speechlessness of Chinese native culture in Chinese EFL learners＇ English intercultural communication, its effects as well as its pedagogical implications for English learning ＆ teaching in Chinese EFL context.

Second Language Vocabulary Acquisition through Extensive Reading:Pedagogical Implications of Vocabulary Research

A great deal of L2 vocabulary is indeed learned through extensive reading,which could contribute to solving the beginner's paradox.In extensive reading,the vast majority of vocabulary can be learned gradually through repeated exposures in various discourse contexts.Direct instruction of vocabulary cannot possibly account for the vast growth of students'vocabulary.Consequently,teachers should promote extensive reading because it can lead to greater vocabulary growth than any program of explicit instruction alone ever could.Make sure that students should be preoccupied with relevant background knowledge and have great interest in chosen materials.In this paper,the technique of semi-extensive reading is also developed to help learners balance contextual guessing with dictionary use.Furthermore,at the end of this paper,some pedagogical implications are also given.

A Tentative Study of Foreign Language Attrition over the Period of Winter Vacation—A Survey of College Students in Yanshan University

This paper first presents a review of language attrition research with its defi nition and classifi cation. Then, through a survey of college students, the infl uence of shortterm language attrition over the learners' cognition and affection is identifi ed. To decrease the negative factors, some pedagogical implications and suggestions are discussed and provided in the end.

Teaching the Conditional Sentences to ESL Learners

This paper aims to explore how learners of English as a second language(ESL)acquire English conditional sentences and what causes their difficulties,especially focusing on how their native languages affect their acquisition of the conditional sentences.Interviews were carried out with four undergraduate ESL students of University of Central Oklahoma in the United States who are respectively Chinese,Korean,French,and Greek.By conducting interviews with them,the participants’perceptions of acquiring English conditional sentences will be collected and analyzed.There will be some typical errors of constructing conditional sentences demonstrated.Moreover,some pedagogical implications will also be provided,which will help students have a better command of the conditional sentences.

Literature and the Teaching of Stylistics： An Investigation Into the Pragmatics of Community Formation in the Educational Context of Namibia

The author＇s paper is an attempt to investigate the success of the pedagogy of stylistics and pedagogical stylistics in the Namibian context. As an applied linguistics course, stylistics is eminently suitable for study and analysis of literature, because it clearly explicates literary effects through linguistic analysis. Many scholars have illustrated the use of stylistics analysis for the purposes of studying literature and teaching it, which is, pedagogical stylistics. However, this paper combines both the study of Stylistics as a discipline, which is the pedagogy of Stylistics, and the use of stylistics for teaching literature in general and poetry in particular. Namibia adopted English as its official language 22 years ago. Since then, both teachers and students have been struggling with the analysis of poetry. This study is an empirical one using qualitative methods in the author＇s research to determine the impact of the study of Stylistics on the understanding and teaching of literature in Namibia. The author uses traditional British poetry from the 16th century up to the 20th century alongside postcolonial poetry to assess the importance of culture in understanding poetry and examine the advantage of using stylistics to teach the poems that the author selects.

Methodology of the Comprehensive Teacher Training

Pedagogical tradition regarding musical education in Russia is one of the country culture achievements.Arrangement of quality musical pedagogy has been a matter of special importance within half a century history ofmusic education system forming. Training of music teachers is particularly important in the field of music theory,as the comprehensive musician training is specific for Russian music education, where besides playing a musicinstrument he must possess knowledge from the music theory field, make sense of music pieces, and understandand analyze them. The conservatism in teaching traditions preservation began interfering with changing priorities ofeducation. As a result, stagnation in the field of musical pedagogy was outlined in the early XXI century. This hasaffected teaching music and theoretical subjects, which became heavy, boring, and unpopular due to conservatismin teaching methods and focus on students＇ motivation. As professional regards, there has been an imbalance in theability to play the instrument and the inability to navigate in the music literature. Implementation of innovativeapproaches to teaching issues and appropriate teachers training has become a necessary solution to the problem.The report considers innovations in teachers training traditions on example of the leading musical institutionMoscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

Investigation into the knowledge base of TEFL teachers in China

The key issues and challenges facing TEFL teachers in China with respect to prospective teacher preparation and professional development are discussed. Drawing upon earlier research on conceptual frameworks, the knowledge base of pre-service teachers is examined through research into the curriculums in TEFL education across diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. A comparative study of the curriculum structures in the education of TEFL teachers reveals a number of key areas of concern： the main hindrance to the development of a stronger knowledge base of pre-service teachers lies in the serious shortage of pedagogical content knowledge, fundamental pedagogical knowledge that are currently available, as well as with the overall inadequacy of practicum hours. It strongly argues for the breadth versus depth in course design and calls for the imperative to reconceptualize the knowledge base of pre-service teachers.
