Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of spleen-invigorating and qi-benefiting pediatric massage(tuina)for treating recurrent respiratory tract infection in children with cerebral palsy due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung.Methods:A total of 70 children with cerebral palsy who suffered from recurrent respiratory tract infection due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung were randomized into an observation group and a control group by the random number table method,with 35 cases in each group.Both groups were treated with conventional rehabilitation training,while the observation group was given additional spleen-invigorating and qi-benefiting pediatric massage,and the control group additionally took oral Yu Ping Feng granule.The clinical efficacy was evaluated by the total effective rate,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptom score,and serum levels of immunoglobulin(Ig)A,IgM and IgG.Results:The difference in total effective rate between the two groups after treatment was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,the TCM symptom scores in both groups decreased to varying degrees than those before treatment,and the intra-group differences were statistically significant(all P<0.01);the differences in the scores of various TCM symptoms between the two groups were statistically significant(all P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of IgA,IgM and IgG of the children in both groups increased to varying degrees,and the intra-group differences were statistically significant(all P<0.05).The between-group differences in the IgA,IgM and IgG levels after treatment were statistically significant(all P<0.05).Conclusion:Spleen-invigorating and qi-benefiting pediatric massage can effectively treat recurrent respiratory tract infection due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung in children with cerebral palsy,relieve the clinical symptoms and improve immune function,and thus is worthy of clinical promotion and application. 展开更多

Objective:We observed the clinical effect of massage in treating chronic persistent pediatric asthma and the changes in expression of TLR1,TLR2,and TLR4 on macrophages.Methods:One hundred sixty pediatric patients with persistent chronic asthma were col-lected,and divided into treatment and control groups of 80 each in strict accordance with the principle of random allocation.The patients in the control group received general nebulizer therapy,and the patients in the treatment group received infantile massage.Both groups of patients were observed for 3 months with respect to the following indicators:the frequency of asthmatic attacks;the frequency of respiratory tract infections(RTIs);C-ACT rating;and the PEF%of peripheral blood(PB)before and after treatment to detect macrophage TLR1,TLR2,and TLR4.Results:After treatment,the frequency of asthmatic attacks,frequency of RTIs,C-ACT rat-ing,and the PEF%and macrophage TLR1,TLR2,and TLR4 expression of fluorescence intensity in the treatment group showed a statistically significant increase when compared with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Pediatric massage can improve the clinical symptoms of pediatric asthma by up-regulating the expression of macrophage TLR1,TLR2,and TLR4. 展开更多

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of Nie-pinching the spine,puncturing Sifeng(EX-UE 10)plus Chinese herbs in treating pediatric anorexia due to dysfunction of spleen in transportation.Methods:A total of 64 kids were randomized into an observation group and a control group by the random number table method,with 32 cases in each group.Patients in both groups received Jian Pi Kai Wei(strengthening spleen and stomach)powder according to pattern differentiation of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).In addition,patients in the observation group received Nie-pinching the spine and puncturing Sifeng(EX-UE 10).Nie-pinching the spine was applied twice a week,and puncturing Sifeng(EX-UE 10)was performed once a week,with 2 weeks counted as 1 course of treatment.After 2 courses of treatment,the body mass index(BMI),peripheral blood leptin level and the microelements Zn,Fe and Se were compared at different time points(before treatment,after the first and second courses of treatment),as well as the therapeutic efficacy and onset time.Results:After 2 courses of treatment,31 cases in each group were evaluated.After the 1st course and the 2nd course,the BMI and serum Zn,Fe and Se levels in the observation group increased significantly(all P<0.05),the leptin level decreased substantially(both P<0.05);the BMI in the control group showed a substantial rise(P<0.05),while the Zn,Fe and Se levels slightly increased showing no statistical significance(all P>0.05),and the leptin level decreased but the difference showed no statistical significance(P>0.05).After the 1st and the 2nd courses of treatment,the BMI,serum Zn,Fe and Se levels increased more significantly(all P<0.05),and the serum leptin level decreased more significantly(both P<0.05)in the observation group than in the control group.After the 2nd course,the total effective rate and recovery rate in the observation group were both higher than those in the control group(both P<0.05),together with a quicker onset time(P<0.05).Conclusion:Nie-pinching the spine,puncturing Sifeng(EX-UE 10)plus Chinese herbs is effective for pediatric anorexia due to dysfunction of spleen in transportation.It can decrease leptin,increase Zn,Fe and Se levels,alleviate apositic symptoms and increase BMI in the kids. 展开更多

Objective To observe the clinical effect of thumbtack needles combined with pediatric Tuina(Chinese therapeutic massage)for constipation in children caused by liver depression and Qi stagnation.Methods A total of 60 children with constipation caused by liver depression and Qi stagnation were randomly divided into a combined group and a Tuina group,with 30 cases in each group.The cases in the Tuina group were treated with pediatric Tuina,while those in the combined group were treated with additional thumbtack needle therapy.We observed the clinical efficacy and the change in the number of spontaneous bowel movements per week before and after treatment.Results After treatment,the cure rate and the total effective rate in the combined group were higher than in the Tuina group,showing statistical significance(P<0.05).Compared with the same group before treatment,the number of spontaneous bowel movements per week in both groups increased after treatment(P<0.05).With the progression of treatment,the number of spontaneous bowel movements per week increased in both groups,and the number in the combined group was more than that in the Tuina group,showing statistical significance(P<0.01).Conclusion Thumbtack needles combined with pediatric Tuina is more effective than pediatric Tuina alone in the treatment of constipation in children caused by liver depression and Qi stagnation. 展开更多

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of moxibustion therapy plus Liu's pediatric massage(tuina)for children with recurrent respiratory tract infections due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung.Methods:A total of 60 children who met the inclusion criteria were divided into an observation group and a control group according to the visiting sequence,with 30 cases in each group.Children in the observation group were treated with moxibustion therapy plus Liu's pediatric massage,and those in the control group were treated with Liu's pediatric massage alone.The incidence of respiratory tract infections and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptoms score were observed and recorded in both groups before and after treatment.And the clinical efficacy was compared between the two groups・Results:The total effective rate of the observation group was 93.3%,and that of the control group was 83.3%.The differenee between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,the TCM symptoms score and total times of infections in both groups were all statistically different from those before treatment(all P<0.05).The differences in TCM symptoms score and infection frequency before and after treatment in the observation group were statistically different from those in the control group(both P<0.05).Conclusion:Moxibustion therapy plus Liu's pediatric massage has a better effect in improving the clinical symptoms and reducing the frequency of respiratory tract infections for children with recurrent respiratory tract infections due to qi deficiency of spleen and lung than the pediatric massage alone. 展开更多

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of ‘Tong Du Yun Pi’(Governor Vessel-unblocking and spleen-promoting)manipulation in treating infantile diarrhea in autumn.Methods:Eighty-four kids were divided into a control group and an observation group using the random number table method,with 42 cases in each group.The control group was intervened by oral administration of montmorillonite powder;and the observation group was given additional‘Tong Du Yun Pi’pediatric massage(tuina)treatment.After treatment,the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptoms scores,symptom improvement time,clinical efficacy and immune function indicators were compared between the two groups.Results:After treatment,the total effective rate was 95.2%in the observation group versus 76.2%in the control group,and the between-group difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);each item score in TCM symptoms was notably lower in the observation group than in the control group(all P<0.05);among the effective cases,the times to restore normal defecation,relieve abdominal bloating,arrest vomiting,and bring down the fever were markedly shorter in the observation group than in the control group,and the betwee regroup differences were statistically sign ificant(all P<0.05);the levels of immunoglobulin(Ig)G,IgM,CD4^(+)and CD4^(+)/CD8^(+)were significantly higher and CD8^(+)was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group(all P<0.05).Conclusion:In the treatment of infantile diarrhea in autumn,based on oral administration of montmorillonite powder,‘Tong Du Yun Pi’manipulation can notably improve diarrheal symptoms,shorten disease duration,and strengthen the immunity of kids,producing more significant efficacy than oral administration of montmorillonite powder. 展开更多

Objective To observe the impact of Tiao Shen Tong Du(regulating the mind and unblocking the Governor Vessel)Tuina(Chinese therapeutic massage)on neuropsychological development of premature infants,discover effective early-stage intervention techniques,and improve the prognosis of premature infants.Methods A total of 115 eligible premature infants were recruited and divided into a control group of 59 cases and an observation group of 56 cases based on different interventions.The control group received three-month physical therapy(PT)and conventional early-stage intervention,and the observation group received additional Tiao Shen Tong Du Tuina treatment.Before and after treatment and at the one-year follow-up,the Gesell developmental schedule was adopted to evaluate neuropsychological development.Results After treatment,the gross motor development quotient(DQ)was higher in the observation group than in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);there were no significant differences in the other four domains between the two groups(P>0.05).At the one-year follow-up,the observation group showed more notable improvements in all five domains’DQs than the control group,and the between-group differences were statistically significant(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusion Based on conventional intervention,Tiao Shen Tong Du Tuina can significantly improve the gross motor function of premature infants in the short term,alongside valid long-term efficacy for gross motor function,fine motor function,adaptive behaviors,language,and personal-social behaviors. 展开更多
