The fundamental theory of the generating operation is analyzed with the linearity model, and a new method is presented based on voltage pulse width modulation for the generating mode control. Through the steady-state and optimized emulation of the output power and system efficiency, the optimizational control approach for the generating mode over a wide speed range is introduced. However, due to nonlinear nature, doubly salient poles, time variant parameters, and non-ideal current waveform, The SRG output voltage inherently contains ripples. The proposed voltage controller is based on fuzzy logic that is very efficient over uncertainty and parameter variations. Instead of the usua...This research work seeks to make renewable energy more reliable, cost effective, and accessible by exploring a different energy combination system to that currently applied to wind and hydro power. Instead of the usual electrical combination of wind and hydro generators, this work involved combining a water and wind turbine mechanically, before driving an electrical generator. This new combination system was modeled and optimized in MATLAB, using a direct combination system commonly found in multi-engine helicopters. The system was found to operate satisfactorily, however it is mechanically more complex than current electrical combining systems. Research was undertaken regarding wind and water resource availability, and the turbines were chosen with these taken into consideration. Various combination systems were explored, including torque and speed split mechanical combinations, conventional electrical combination, and using a modified switched reluctance generator as a method of electro-mechanical combination. The generator selected for this work is a three phase 12/8 Switched Reluctance (SR) machine. The 36?V/42 V DC source system is applied to establishing the simulation-analyzing model of the motor. A finite-element (FE) analysis of its two-dimensional electromagnetic field is conducted to obtain the exact model of the motor. Systematic simulation is carried out combining with its power conversion circuit and control element. Meanwhile the starting process and performance of the system are studied and analyzed with special efforts. Satisfactory result is derived from the testing of the prototype: theoretical analysis is basically matched with the tested data, which proves the rationality and feasibility of the design procedures, systematic modeling and control strategies. Therefore, the new 12/10-structure scheme is put forward based on the development and analysis of various SRM and it meets the requirements of the researched motor in terms of the structural parameters.展开更多

Also, the output generator voltage is stabilized under either load or wind speed variations. Basic operational characteristics of a three-phase 6/4 SRG are developed through experimental observation. Meanwhile, the real-time operation was implemented in a DSP (digital signal processor) environment. The simulation of the complete system model has been obtained using the Matlab/Simulink software. A good agreement between experimental and simulation results has been observed which supports the validity of the proposed analysis.展开更多

This paper first presents the design and construction of the generator. Then, performance prediction of the generator based on three dimensional(3D) time-stepping finite element methods(FEM) and power generation investigation from co-simulation are carried out. Next, preliminary generation current waveforms are inspected by the regulation of turn-on and turn-off positions based on FEM and verified by experimental results. The paper describes a methodology for the design and performance of a self-excited permanent-magnet generator applied to low power supplies. It combines an analytical field model, a lumped reluctance equivalent magnetic circuit, and an equivalent electrical circuit. The combined starter/generator (CS/G) system is introduced as a key technology to enable M/AEA. Some important performance requirements for CS/G system are obtained. Based on these requirements, a high speed switched reluctance machine (SRM) is designed to operate as a starter/generator. The entire design process is mainly divided into two stages: electromagnetic design and thermal design. In electromagnetic design stage, the electromagnetic structure and dimensions of the machine and the number of phase winding turns per pole are obtained; the topology and main technical details of the converter are briefly introduced as well. In thermal design stage, a liquid-cooling system is designed based on the thermal analysis of the machine. In the end, the performances of the designed SRM are basically verified by simulation. To get high performances, the exciting angles are optimized in two different operating modes respectively, and the optimized performances in the motoring mode are given as well.展开更多

Then, performance prediction of the generator based on three dimensional(3D) time-stepping finite element methods(FEM) and power generation investigation from co-simulation are carried out. Next, preliminary generation current waveforms are inspected by the regulation of turn-on and turn-off positions based on FEM and verified by experimental results. Last, the voltage output waveform of any one axis of motion is also presented.
文摘Nowadays, electronic devices are more and more integrated into everyday life. These seamless integrations focus on mobility, but at the same time strive to be unobtrusive to the end user. With the introduction of personal data assistants and intelligent cellular phones for the searching of the website, true mobile computing is closer than ever. However, battery technology, which powers most of these mobile connectivity solutions, has not kept up the same pace of improvement. The paper describes a methodology for the design and performance of a self-excited permanent-magnet generator applied to low power supplies. It combines an analytical field model, a lumped reluctance equivalent magnetic circuit, and an equivalent electrical circuit. An illustrated example of a 15-mW, 290-r/min generator is given, and the analysis techniques are validated by measurements on a prototype system.

文摘To improve the heat dissipation performance,this paper proposes a novel hybrid cooling method for high-speed high-power Permanent Magnet assisted Synchronous Reluctance Starter/Generator(PMa Syn R S/G)in aerospace applications.The hybrid cooling structure with oil circulation in the housing,oil spray at winding ends and rotor end surface is firstly proposed for the PMa Syn R S/G.Then the accurate loss calculation of the PMa Syn R S/G is proposed,which includes air gap friction loss under oil spray cooling,copper loss,stator and rotor core loss,permanent magnet eddy current loss and bearing loss.The parameter sensitivity analysis of the hybrid cooling structure is proposed,while the equivalent thermal network model of the PMa Syn R S/G is established considering the uneven spraying at the winding ends.Finally,the effectiveness of the proposed hybrid cooling method is demonstrated on a 40 k W/24000 r/min PMa Syn R S/G experimental platform.
文摘The basic concepts and advantages of more/all electric aircraft (M/AEA) are briefly addressed. The combined starter/generator (CS/G) system is introduced as a key technology to enable M/AEA. Some important performance requirements for CS/G system are obtained. Based on these requirements, a high speed switched reluctance machine (SRM) is designed to operate as a starter/generator. The entire design process is mainly divided into two stages: electromagnetic design and thermal design. In electromagnetic design stage, the electromagnetic structure and dimensions of the machine and the number of phase winding turns per pole are obtained; the topology and main technical details of the converter are briefly introduced as well. In thermal design stage, a liquid-cooling system is designed based on the thermal analysis of the machine. In the end, the performances of the designed SRM are basically verified by simulation. To get high performances, the exciting angles are optimized in two different operating modes respectively, and the optimized performances in the motoring mode are given as well.
