Based on a new brightness model, new photometric observational data and published data of (106) Dione were analyzed to characterize the morphology of Dione's photometric phase curve. In this brightness model, a cellinoid ellipsoid shape and three-parameter (H, G1, G2) magnitude phase function system were involved. Such a model can not only solve the phase function system parameters of (106) Dione by considering an asymmetric shape of an asteroid, but also can be applied to more asteroids, especially those without enough photometric data to solve the convex shape. Using a Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method, Dione's absolute magnitude of H = 7.66+0.03-0.03 mag, and phase function parameters G1 = 0.682+0.077-0.077 and G2 = 0.081+0.042-0.042 were obtained. Simultaneously, Dione's simplistic shape, orientation of pole and rotation period were also determined preliminarily.展开更多

Applying this new model and a Markov Chain Monte Carlo method, we refine the photometric phase curve of asteroid (107) Camilla and obtain its absolute magnitude H = 7.026-0.054^+0.052 mag, and phase function parameters G1=0.489-0.044^+0.043 and G2 = 0.259-0.023^+0.023.Meanwhile, we also determine (107) Camilla's orientation of pole (74.1°-4.5°^+4.3°,50.2°-5.0°^+5.4°). with rotational period of 4.843928-0.000001^+0.000001 h, and axial ratios a/b : 1.409-0.020^+0.020 And b/c =1.249-0.060^+0.063. Furthermore, according to the values of phase function parameters G1 and G2, we infer that asteroid (107) Camilla is an X-type asteroid.展开更多

Corresponding to different cooling rate range, the different measurement methods are employed. The phase-transformation temperatures at slow cooling rate are determined by differential thermal analysis(DTA). The phase-transformation temperatures at medium cooling rate are obtained by measuring a ratio of resistance change against temperature. The phase-transformation temperatures at high cooling rate are measured with thermal mechanical simulator and X-ray diffractometer. Mechanical property combined with microstructure of the samples at various cooling rates is studied and the CCT curve of the alloy is constructed. When the cooling rate increases, phase- transformation temperature drops and the quantity of the secondary phase decreases. The solid solution strengthening is the leading strengthening mechanism during the quench and the hardness increases with the increase of the cooling rate.展开更多

An algorithm was applied to simulate the bacteria population during lag and exponential phase. The results show that the model moderately fits the experimental data. Further, the mean growth constant (K) of growth curves is obtained by fitting the logarithm of the simulating population data versus the generation numbers with the different initial population number (N0) and initial mean activity of population (A0). When N0 is 300 and 700 respectively, the discrepancy of K value is only 0.91%, however, A0 is 0.34 and 0.38 respectively, the discrepancy of K value is 19.53%. It suggests that the effect of A0 on the lag phase exceeds N0, though both parameters could shorten the lag phase by increasing their values.展开更多

The buildup type curves or buildup behavior could be obtained through the solution by using su-perposition. But a new outer boundary condition for variable pressure boundary must be introduced to obtain the correct pressure buildup solutions by superposition. A technique is shown to determine the deviation time from the infinite-acting semilog radial flow stabilization in the derivatives of pressure, which is calculated with respect to and plotted vs. shut-in time. Field examples are given to illustrate the use of the proposed method for analyzing transient pressure data from a well located in a multi-well water-injection reservoir. An adaptive genetic algorithm-based method is used to match the pressure and pressure derivative data to estimate reservoir parameters. The validity and applicability of the proposed method are also demonstrated through the examples.展开更多

To calculate the parameters of Langmuir ad-sorption isotherm of thymidine, frontal analysis (FA) and elution-curve method (ECM) were adopted in reversed-phase high performance liguid chromatography (RP-HPLC). In FA, the concentration of stationary phase was measured from the elution curves and the isotherm was deter-mined by regression analysis, while the parameters by ECM were obtained by parameter optimization. The adsorption isotherms of thymidine from the two methods were very similar. The superiority of ECM over FA was that the consumption of sample was less and only one or two in-jections of sample were required.展开更多
