Then the magnesia carbon bricks were prepared using the LPF as binder. Different process conditions of LPFs such as calcium lignosulfonate additions( 10%,20%,30%,40% and 50%,in mass, the same hereinafter),catalyzer additions( extra added,1%,2%,3%,4% and 5%) and reaction times( 1,1. 5,2,2. 5 and 3 h) were investigated. Effects of prepared LPFs on properties of magnesia carbon bricks( baked at 200 ℃ for 24 h) were researched in order to modify the synthesizing conditions of LPFs. Cold physical properties and hot modulus of rupture of magnesia carbon bricks bonded by LPF and by traditional PF after baked at 200 ℃ for 24 h and fired at 1 200 ℃ for 3 h were compared, respectively. At the temperatures above 100°C in the presence of hardener, this resin undergoes cross-linking reaction and the formation of three dimensional cross linked structures takes place and bonding of wood particles in a hot press [1]. UF powder resins show high reactivity and good performance in the production and by their low price;however they lack in water resistance of the hardened resin [2]. It is found that the prepared carbon materials still maintain the typical spherical shapes after the activation, and have highly developed ultra-microporosity with uniform pore size, indicating that almost the activation takes place in the interior of the polymer spheres. The narrow-distributed ultra-micropores are attributed to the "in-situ homogeneous activation"effect produced by the mono-dispersed potassium ions as a form of -OK groups in the bulk of polymer spheres. Triethanolamine and dimethylamine were added to modify the melamine-formaldehyde resin, respectively. The mechanism of the cationized resin was explored and the possible chemical reactions were deduced. It was concluded that, with the use of triethanolamine, the most optimum product was obtained by hydroxymethylation for 30 min with a temperature of 85℃ and p H of 9. 0 where n( melamine) ∶ n( formaldehyde) ∶ n( methanol) ∶ n( triethanolamine) was 100 ∶ 330 ∶ 450 ∶ 15. With the combined use of dimethylamine and methanol, the optimal product was acquired by condensation for 30 min at a temperature of 50℃ and p H of 2. 0 at melamine, formaldehyde, methanol, and dimethylamine molar ratio of100∶ 330∶ 350∶ 20. With the only use of dimethylamine, the optimal product was obtained by condensation at melamine, formaldehyde, dimethylamine molar ratio of 100∶ 330∶ 10. The wet tensile strength of fruit-bagging paper was improved by adding cationized melamine-formaldehyde resin. The zeta potential, charge density, and conductivity of the melamine-formaldehyde resin were also studied.展开更多

The influences of the adding time of Ba(OH)_2, the adding amount of NaOH, Ba(OH)_2 and resorcinol on the properties of adhesives were studied. The properties of NaOH catalyzed phenol-formaldehyde(PF) adhesive, NaOH and Ba(OH)_2 compound catalyzed PF adhesive, NaOH and Ba(OH)_2 compound catalyzed phenol-resorcinol-formaldehyde(PRF) adhesive, and the prepared recombinant bamboo with three kinds of adhesives were compared. The experimental results show that NaOH and Ba(OH)_2 compound catalyst not only shortens the curing time of PF adhesive, but also guarantees the suitable water solubility of adhesive. After copolycondensation with resorcinol, the curing time of adhesive is further shortened, the water solubility is improved obviously, and the highest bonding strength is obtained. Infrared spectrum analysis shows that the reaction activity point of NaOH and Ba(OH)_2 compound catalyzed PRF adhesive will increase, so that both the curing temperature and curing enthalpy decrease.展开更多

The c-PHDT/GO/PF composites were prepared by blending, rolling and compression molding techniques. Then, the as-prepared samples were characterized by FTIR, Raman, XRD, TGA and POM to obtain information on their structures and properties. After that, the effects of c-PHDT/GO content on the mechanical properties, friction performance and dynamic mechanical performance of c-PHDT/GO/PF composites were studied by Mechanical and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) methods. Also, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) was used for the characterization of wear and fracture surface morphology. The results revealed that the reinforcing effect of c-PHDT/GO was significant as a considerable enhancement on the mechanical performance of c-PHDT/GO/PF composite as compared to pure phenol-formaldehyde composites was observed: the impact strength, bending modulus and bending strength increased from 1.63 kJ/m2, 8.61 GPa and 41.55 MPa to 2.31 kJ/m2, 10.16 GPa and 54.40 MPa respectively at the c-PHDT/GO content = 0.75%. Moreover, the initial storage modulus increased by 28.4%, while the wear mass loss decreased by 17.8%. More importantly, the reinforcement by c-PHDT/GO was further enhanced as compared to GO/PF and p-PHDT/GO/PF composites, the impact strength of c-PHDT/GO/PF composite increased by 27.6% and 11.1%, the bending strength increased by 11.8% and 7.6%, the initial storage modulus increased by 16.2% and 4.2% and the mass loss due to wear decreased by 12.7% and 8.8%, respectively. Based on these results, we can conclude that the surface modification of GO by poly(hexanedithiol), which includes synergistic effect by c-PHDT and GO, improves the interfacial adhesion between GO and the resin matrix, thus reinforcing the composites.展开更多

Although the microstructure of this resin has been examined at high resolution by field-emission scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) has thus far not been used, perhaps because of difficulties in ultrathin sectioning this resin in cured (polymerized) state. In the technical note presented here, a novel sample preparation method is described which enabled us to examine the microstructural morphology of UF resin by transmission electron microscopy in ultrathin sections, revealing the presence of spherical particles within the resin. Our initial attempt to ultrathin section the resin directly was not successful as it was too brittle to trim blocks for sectioning. Then, we developed a sample preparation technique that involved impregnation ofPinus radiatawood tissues with the UF resin, and then embedding of resin impregnated wood tissues with Spurr’s low viscosity embedding medium, which has been widely employed in plant and wood ultrastructure work. The TEM images illustrated and the information on the microstructural morphology of the UF resin presented are based on this novel sample preparation approach.展开更多

Wheat straws were treated at three levels of urea concentration (5%, 10%, 15%) and 95℃ as holding temperature. Wheat straw particleboards were manufactured using hot press at 180℃ and 3 MPa with two types of UF adhesive (UF-45, UF-91). Then the formaldehyde emission values, physical properties and mechanical properties were considered. The results show that the for- maldehyde emission value was decreased by increasing urea concentration. Furthermore, the results indicate that the specimens under urea treatment have better mechanical and physical properties compared with control specimens. Also specimens under urea treatment at 10% concentration and UF-91 type adhesive have the most optimum physical and mechanical strength.展开更多

In this article, MF resin foam was prepared by microwave radiation. We discussed the thermal stability of MF foam and the effect of different emulsifiers on its morphology, apparent density, fire-retardancy and mechanical property. The decomposition temperature of MF foam we prepared is nearly 400℃ and the constitution of residue after combustion is made up of carbon and graphite. Emulsifier influenced the apparent density of MF foam and using coemulsifiers can get flexible foam with uniform cell size, good morphology and low apparent density. When the fire-retardant MF foam’s apparent density is low of 5.53 kg/cm-3, its value of LOI can reach 32.4. The mechanical property of foam is consistent with apparent density.展开更多

文摘The poor bonding performance between aqueous adhesives represented by melamine-urea formaldehyde(MUF)resins and reed straw hinders their applications in the field of non-wood-based panels.Multi-hydroxyl polymers are highly reactive and are often used as crosslinkers. This study fabricated a resin with a strengthened crosslinked structure by combining a multi-hydroxyl polymer and MUF resin prepolymer. The reed particleboard was prepared by using this resin as an adhesive and reed stalk as the matrix. The results show that neighboring molecules combined to form C–O–C bonds that strengthened the cross-linked structure of the resin. In addition, the viscosity of the resin was increased, and a continuous adhesive layer on the surface of reed particles was formed, which slowed the penetration of reed particles. The adhesive layer significantly improved the mechanical properties of the reed particleboard. The maximum modulus of rupture(MOR),modulus of elasticity(MOE),and internal bonding strength(IB)of the reed particleboard were 33.53,4126,and 0.79 MPa,respectively. The IB of the board was 3.3 times higher than that of the reed particleboard prepared with a conventional MUF resin.Reed straw is a non-wood biomass material that has the advantage of sustainable development and may replace woodbased materials to produce particleboard. This resin-prepared reed particleboard is expected to be used in areas such as custom furniture and engineering materials.
文摘In this work, melamine-formaldehyde resin was cationized by adding modifiers so that the fibers closely bonded to improve their usability and the wet strength of paper was greatly improved. The zeta potential, charge density, and conductivity of the melamine-formaldehyde resin were also studied.

文摘Urea-isobutyraldehyde-formaldehyde (UIF) resin was synthesized from urea, isobutyraldehyde, and formaldehyde using sulfuric acid as a catalyst by one pot method. The effects of molar ratios of isobutyraldehyde to formaldehyde (n(I)/n(F)) and aldehyde to urea (n(A)/n(U)) on the yield, hydroxyl value (vs KOH) and softening point of the resin were investigated. The structure of the resin was characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR. The results show that when the molar ratio of urea to isobutyraldehyde to formaldehyde (n(U)/n(I)/n(F)) is 1.0/3.0/3.0, the yield UIF resin is 67.1%, and the softening point and hydroxyl value are 88 ℃ and 37 mg/g, respectively. The FT-IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR results show that the lactam is formed by aminomethylation from urea, isobutyraldehyde, and formaldehyde.

文摘In order to reduce the curing temperature, shorten the curing time of phenol-formaldehyde(PF) resin adhesive, and ensure the good water-solubility, NaOH and Ba(OH)_2 were used as compound catalysts. Infrared spectrum analysis shows that the reaction activity point of NaOH and Ba(OH)_2 compound catalyzed PRF adhesive will increase, so that both the curing temperature and curing enthalpy decrease.
文摘In this paper, the preparation of graphene oxide was achieved by Hummers method and the surface modification was achieved by poly(hexaneditiol), which was a synthetic thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer. Based on these results, we can conclude that the surface modification of GO by poly(hexanedithiol), which includes synergistic effect by c-PHDT and GO, improves the interfacial adhesion between GO and the resin matrix, thus reinforcing the composites.
文摘Urea-formaldehyde (UF) resin is widely used as an adhesive for the manufacture of a range of wood and fiber based products. The TEM images illustrated and the information on the microstructural morphology of the UF resin presented are based on this novel sample preparation approach.
文摘For manufacturing low-formaldehyde emission particleboard from wheat straw and urea-formaldehyde (UF) resins using urea treatment for indoor environments, we investigated the influence of urea treatment on the formaldehyde emission, physical and mechanical properties of the manufactured particleboard. Also specimens under urea treatment at 10% concentration and UF-91 type adhesive have the most optimum physical and mechanical strength.
文摘Melamine formaldehyde (MF) foam is kind of fire-retardant material and has great potential in acoustic and thermal insulation area. The mechanical property of foam is consistent with apparent density.
文摘A simple and convenient procedure for the synthesis of nitriles by dehydration of aldoxime using supported sulphuric acid on melamine-formaldehyde resin (MFR) under solvent-free condition has been developed. A variety of aromatic and aliphatic aldoximes were converted to the corresponding nitriles. The resin was recovered and reused for subsequent reactions. ~ 2011 Ramin Rezaei.
