The interrelation of rhetoric and hermeneutics is rooted in our existential historicity and linguisticity.Rhetorical competence and education are integral approaches to a better understanding of being-in-the-world.Ins...The interrelation of rhetoric and hermeneutics is rooted in our existential historicity and linguisticity.Rhetorical competence and education are integral approaches to a better understanding of being-in-the-world.Inspired by Platonic dialectic and Aristotle’s phronesis,Gadamer has redefined true rhetoric and revived the epistemological and ethical dimensions in rhetoric in his philosophical hermeneutics.This article investigates four aspects in Gadamer’s rehabilitation of rhetoric.First,rhetoric as ethics.Rhetoric transcends the dualism of self-other,subject-object through its dialogical structure,and is composed of understanding and application as a whole in hermeneutic experience.Second,rhetoric as discursive knowledge.Rhetoric is oriented to eine Sache(reality)itself,and is endowed with primitive experience of truth.Its own validity as discursive knowledge is not confined to scientific methodology,and is essential for natural and human sciences.Third,rhetoric as component of linguisticity.The ubiquity of rhetoric makes it an integral component of linguisticity.The capacity to use metaphors,symbols,allegory is an important aspect of our linguisticity,revealing the rhetorical quality in language.Lastly,hermeneutic theories inspired by rhetoric.Gadamer’s rehabilitation of rhetoric is beneficial for the development of philosophical hermeneutics and humanist education in modern world.展开更多

The current study aims to explain the fundamentals of religious pluralism in Wittgenstein later philosophy and Gadamer philosophical hermeneutics,specifically regarding culture.It,then,proposes the approach more suita...The current study aims to explain the fundamentals of religious pluralism in Wittgenstein later philosophy and Gadamer philosophical hermeneutics,specifically regarding culture.It,then,proposes the approach more suitable for the Islamic context.Having fulfilled such an objective,pluralism,concerning religious rituals,becomes accepted and cultural and religious interaction is realized without any relativism conclusion.Wittgenstein’s pluralism results in pure relativism.That is to say,in order to understand the rules of the language game and life style he mentions,one needs to be placed inside.However,it is a dialectical model that Gadamer philosophical hermeneutics leads to.Dialogue gives opportunity to cultural interaction and convergence,developing the religious culture.The latter is of more proximity to Islamic resources such as the Quran,proposing a religious culture transcending cultural,historical,and social limitations.All in all,the two significant features of Gadamer’s which Wittgenstein ignores are first,the interaction of religious pluralism encouraging the development of religious culture and second,reciprocal relation between culture and religion based on hermeneutics circle.展开更多
Based on Gadamer’s philosophical viewpoint,the research scope starts from the domain of philosophical interpretation and extends to the field of poster design communication and aesthetics.In this paper,on the one han...Based on Gadamer’s philosophical viewpoint,the research scope starts from the domain of philosophical interpretation and extends to the field of poster design communication and aesthetics.In this paper,on the one hand,the author explains that art and beauty are basic ways of existence,and artistic experience surpasses the natural science method and is close to philosophical experience and historical experience;On the other hand,the paper clarifies and explains the understanding and being understood in poster design,as well as the understanding characteristics of aesthetic experience and artistic experience.While analyzing some hermeneutic phenomenon,this paper discusses the aesthetic function of art,and applies the combination of this function and aesthetic perception to the category of design.In consideration of the relationship between the two,this paper studies and discusses how to enhance the effect of poster design through effective methods,which would only deepen viewers’understanding of the work,but also enable viewers to enjoy the beauty of different degrees,so as to achieve the purpose of promoting information exchange and emotional communication,and further deepen the design connotation of the work.The communication function of poster design works needs to be realized in the application and appreciation,and its content expression needs to be realized in the subject understanding activities.Designers need to feel the unity of the meaning and form of the works in the poster design practice and experience,and explore the purpose and intention of the works of poster design in the aesthetic experience of art,thereupon then get the understanding of reality and the perception of the future of design,and then achieve the lofty pursuit of artistic aesthetics.展开更多
