SST-1 Phase-1 tokamak operation has been envisaged with data acquisition of several essential diagnostics channels. These channels demand data acquisition at a sampling rate ranging from 1 kilo samples per second (KSPS) to 1 mega samples per second (MSPS). Considering the technical characteristics and requirements of the diagnostics, a data acquisition system based on PXI and CAMAC has been developed for SST-1 plasma diagnostics. Both these data acquisition systems are scalable. Present data acquisition needs involving slow plasma diagnostics are catered by the PXI based data acquisition system. On the other hand, CAMAC data acquisition hardware meets all requirements of the SST-1 Phase-1 fast plasma diagnostics channels. A graphical user interface for both data acquisition systems (PXI and CAMAC) has been developed using LabVIEW application development software. The collected data on the local hard disk are directly streaming to the central server through a dedicated network for post-shot data analysis. This paper describes the development and integration of the data acquisition system for SST-1 Phase-1 plasma diagnostics. The integrated testing of the developed data acquisition system has been performed using SST-1 central control and diagnostics signal conditioning units. In the absence of plasma shots, the integrated testing of the data acquisition system for the initial diagnostics of SST-1 Phase-1 operation has been performed with simulated physical signals. The primary engineering objective of this integrated testing is to validate the performance of the developed data acquisition system under simulated conditions close to that of actual tokamak operation. The data acquisition is synchronized with a clock and trigger provided by the central timing system.展开更多

Experimental measurements of the edge fluctuations, velocities of the toroidal, the poloidal flow and electric field have been carried out on both of SOL and the boundary region of HL-1M for Ohmic, biased H-mode, Lower Hybrid Current Drive (LHCD), Supersonic Molecular Beam Injection (MBI), Multi-shot Pellet Injection (MPI), Neutral Beam Injection (NBI), Ion Cyclotron Resonance Heating (ICRH) and Electric Cyclotron Resonance Heating (ECRH) discharges. The results show that the suppressions of the fluctuations are related to poloidal rotations produced by different discharge modes in the improved particle confinement property, simultaneously the change of the radial and poloidal electric field is generated and becomes more negative at the Tokamak plasma edge, and the sheared poloidal flow is related to the reduction in fluctuation level, and the poloidal velocity is mainly dominated by the E × B drift.展开更多

Lowered gas breakdown voltage, increasing plasma density and increased discharge current were achieved by using the floating inner electrode. The low temperature (Nonthermal) Atmospheric Pressure Plasma protective coating technique using precursor-containing gases (Ar, O2 and OMCTS mixture) which injected into Plasma Jet (APPJ), there are several techniques are introduced here to avoid substrate damage including increasing plasma density without increasing the kinetic energy of the ion bombardment. Furthermore some few precautions are given here to insure good media for silicon wafer prepared for coating.展开更多

Complete suppression of sawtooth is achieved for the duration of the ECRH, when the heating power is applied on the high-field side of low-density plasma, and exceeds a threshold value of power. The m = 1 bursts riding on the ramp phase of sawtooth can only be excited when the ECRH location is near the q = 1 surface on the high field side. The conditions under which the various relaxation activities are produced or suppressed are described. Experimental results imply that the energetic electrons generated during ECRH are responsible for the modification/or stabilization/or excitation of the instability. Near the q = 1 surface, the passing electrons play the role of reducing the shear and tending to stabilize the sawtooth activity, while the barely-trapped electrons play the role of enhancing or driving an internal kink instability.展开更多
