The aim of this retrospective comparative study was to assess three different techniques of loop support. Methods: The study included 65 pa- tients who had loop ileostomy or colostomy formed. Depending on the decision of the operating surgeon, one of three techniques was chosen to fixate the stoma loop: an epicutaneous plastic rod (group 1, n = 14), an epicutaneous suture-fixated silicone drain (group 2, n = 27), or a subcutaneous silicone drain (group 3, n = 24). Results: The majority of patients (85%) received loop ileostomy. Pain intensity was significantly (p = 0.0014) different among the three groups. A total of 19 patients (30%) suffered a complication. There was a tendency towards less complications if the stoma was secured by a silicone drain with epicutaneous fixation. Comfort with stoma care was significantly different, with group 3 experiencing the best results. Conclusions: Using a subcutaneously tunnelled silicon drain as a stoma bridge results in less complications, less pain and higher satisfaction as compared to the conventional plastic rod. Conventional plastic rods should be avoided.展开更多

Although the mechanical behaviors of sandwich composite material with the influence of single external environment have been intensively studied, little work has been done in the study of mechanical property, in view of the nonlinear behavior of sandwich composites in the complicated external environments. In this paper, the problem about the bending of the three-layer elastic-plastic rod located on the elastic base, with a compressibly physical nonlinear core, has been studied. The mechanical response of the designed three-layer elements consisting of two bearing layers and a core has been examined. The complicated problem about curving of the three-layer rod located on the elastic base has been solved. The convergence of the proposed method of elastic solutions is examined to convince that the solution is acceptable. The calculated results indicate that the plasticity and physical nonlinearity of materials have a great influence on the deformation of the sandwich rod on the elastic basis.展开更多

The simulated results visualize the metal flow andthe dynamic evolutions of the strain, stress and temperature during the continuous hot rolling, especially inside the work-piece. It is shown that the non-uniform distributions of the strain, stress and temperature on the longitudinal and transverse sections are a distinct characteristic ofthe continuous hot rolling, which can be used as basic data for improving the tool design, predicting and controlling the micro-structural evolution of a bar and rod.展开更多
