A Quality Evaluation System for Dissertation Based on Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process

A dissertation is a research report or scientific paper written by an author to obtain a certain degree. It reflects postgraduates’ research achievements and the educational quality of an institute, even a country. To construct an optimized quality evaluation system for postgraduate dissertation (QESPD), we summarized the influencing factors and invited 10 experienced specialists to rate and prioritize them based on fuzzy analytic hierarchy process. Four primary indicators (innovation, integrity, scientificity and normativity) and 16 sub-indicators were selected to form the evaluation system. The order of primary indicators by weight, was innovation (0.4269), scientificity (0.2807), integrity (0.1728) and normativity (0.1196). The top five sub-dimensions were theoretical originality, scientific value, data reliability, design rationality and evidence credibility. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system, a case study was performed. In the case study, it was demonstrated that the established two-index-hierarchy QESPD in this study was a more scientific and reasonable evaluation system worthy of promotion and application.

A Survey of Statistical Analysis in a Selected M.A. Dissertation

The use of statistics has received increasing attention in the studies of linguistics and applied linguistics. However,due to its complexity and preciseness,there are many problems of application of statistics. The present paper tries to discuss the application of statistics in a M.A. dissertation and aims to explain how to apply statistics to linguistics research normatively,scientifically,and precisely.

Genre Analysis of Research Dissertation Abstracts

Genre analysis has become one of the most important approaches to text analysis, especially in the field of English for Specific Purposes. Abstract is the essential part of the paper, which helps the readers get initial impressions. Because of its particular the usage of communication, it has its special rules and mode. The purpose of this paper was to present the 5-move model characteristic of research dissertation Abstracts, and explore the linguistic characteristics of each move. The analysis started from the macrostructure, i.e from the text as a whole, towards the microstructure which included linguistic description (syntactic and lexical). The results showed that most abstracts followed 5-move model and the linguistic features of this genre.

An Exploration of the Current Business English Teaching at the Post-graduate Level in China

In China,the past two decades has witnessed the flourishing of Business English (BE) as a course or even a separated discipline in colleges and universities.Researches on BE and BE Teaching have also flourished in an attempt to formulate a coherent theoretical framework and to improve the present BE Teaching system.However,most of such researches focus on BE Teaching at the college level.The present thesis is to explore the present BE Teaching situation at the post-graduate level in several universities in China and point out some practical problems existing in the current BE Teaching at the post-graduate level with a purpose that the academic world could attach more attention to BE Teaching at the post-graduate level in China.

Research Report on MTCSOL Dissertation Topics in the Last Decade

Dissertation is one of the most important indicators to evaluate the training quality of postgraduate students.As the first step of writing dissertations,topic selection directly influences the dissertation quality.By utilizing the intelligent retrieval system of the National Science and Technology Library(NSTL),we have selected MTCSOL(Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages)dissertation topics during the last 10 years,divided them into four stages and statistically analyzed the general tendency and crucial problems in these dissertations.MTCSOL dissertations have increased greatly in quantity and become more diversified and multidisciplinary.However,they are still too concentrated on similar topics with narrow scopes;and researches lack of creativity,pioneering spirits and practicality.It concludes that MTCSOL students should expand their research scopes and improve the quality of their dissertations with the historic mission of international Chinese language teaching to support the Belt and Road Initiative and build a harmonious community with shared future for humanity in the new era always in their minds.

Research on the Construction of Doctoral Dissertation System

This paper initially forms its own doctoral dissertation system by summarizing and sorting out the Research and Practice classroom system and the Writing Skills of Doctoral Dissertation teaching material system, which are studied in the doctoral course. Through criticism and innovation, a set of doctoral dissertation system consisting of six major systems: preparation system, content system, organization system, supervision system, supports system and verification system is finally formed. This dissertation writing system will provide reference and help for doctoral students and researchers.

The Use of First Person Pronouns in Master dissertation

This writing is quantitative and qualitative empirical study of how first person pronouns are employed in master dissertations by advanced learners.The results reveal that the variations in the use of the first person pronouns do exist.It will help the advanced learners get a better understanding of the first person pronouns and write a perfect introduction,usually written both in English and in Chinese,in order to be accepted by the international publications and gain a better academic exchange.

Analysis on the introduction of foreign language scales in Chinese nursing masters dissertation

Objective: The nursing master’s dissertation were analyzed to understand the situation of the introduction of foreign language scales. Method: Bibliometric method and content analysis method were used to analyze the introduction of foreign language scales in the current Chinese nursing master’s dissertation which have been collected from CNKI database and WanFang database before February 1, 2018. Results: The introduction of foreign language scales started late, which was from 2012. In 2013, the foreign scales were most introduced (16.2%). The main source of thesis is from Tianjin Medical University (11.6%). English was the most popular language of the foreign scales (93.8%). 80.2% of researchers did not use translation guides. 31.3% of translators comfort the requirements of the translation guidelines. The introduced scales have good reliability and validity. Conclusion: The number of nursing masters dissertation introducing foreign scales has increased year by year with more sources and high quality. It shows that the academic level of nursing postgraduate student in China has been improved. Postgraduate students have a higher ability to learn foreign nursing knowledge and skills and use foreign nursing research tools. However, the lack of translation guide and the ambiguity of the selection criteria of the translators are widespread.

Researching the Research: Applying Machine Learning Techniques to Dissertation Classification

This research examines industry-based dissertation research in a doctoralcomputing program through the lens of machine learning algorithms todetermine if natural language processing-based categorization on abstractsalone is adequate for classification. This research categorizes dissertationby both their abstracts and by their full-text using the GraphLabCreate library from Apple’s Turi to identify if abstract analysis is anadequate measure of content categorization, which we found was not. Wealso compare the dissertation categorizations using IBM’s Watson Discoverydeep machine learning tool. Our research provides perspectiveson the practicality of the manual classification of technical documents;and, it provides insights into the: (1) categories of academic work createdby experienced fulltime working professionals in a Computing doctoralprogram, (2) viability and performance of automated categorization of theabstract analysis against the fulltext dissertation analysis, and (3) natuallanguage processing versus human manual text classification abstraction.

On the Digitization of Doctoral/Master’s Dissertations and Online Access to the Resources

With the rapid development of higher education, more and more people are entitled doctoral or master’s degrees, resulting in the considerable increase in doctoral dissertations and master’s theses. The application of IT technology renders the possibility to digitize those dissertations, which has contributed a lot to the construction of digital library. The characteristics and corresponding problems like property right, security and sharing will be discussed in this paper. And the paper makes a general introduction will be made to the specific ways adopted by the library of UESTC and its distribution of digitized dissertation resources.

A comparative analysis of academic dissertation management systems in China

The paper is to do a comparative evaluation on the four major digital theses and dissertations management systems used in the China's Mainland, which are TRS, TPI,TASi and IDL-ETD. The evaluation analysis is primarily based on the systematic tests on these systems conducted by DUT(Dalian University of Technology) Library. Special focuses are on the distinctive features of each system such as their performance in terms of stability, reliability, openness, capacity of backdating, copyright protection, service monitoring, document conversion and release automation, log management, statistical tabulations, vendor's technical support and so on. In addition, authors provide a statistics on the choice of academic dissertation system of most 985a)colleges and universities in China.

Research Methods and Essay Writing Analysis of MBA Dissertation
