The severity of liver failure may be reflected by the profile of some metabolites. This study assessed the potential of using metabolites as biomarkers for liver failure by identifying metabolites with good discriminative performance for its phenotype. The serum samples from 24 HBV-indueed liver failure patients and 23 healthy volunteers were collected and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) to generate metabolite profiles. The 24 patients were further grouped into two classes according to the severity of liver failure. Twenty-five eommensal peaks in all metabolite profiles were extracted, and the relative area values of these peaks were used as features for each sample. Three algorithms, F-test, k-nearest neighbor (KNN) and fuzzy support vector machine (FSVM) combined with exhaustive search (ES), were employed to identify a subset of metabolites (biomarkers) that best predict liver failure. Based on the achieved experimental dataset, 93.62% predictive accuracy by 6 features was selected with FSVM-ES and three key metabolites, glyeerie acid, cis-aeonitie acid and citric acid, are identified as potential diagnostic biomarkers. 展开更多

In recent years, as the exploration practices extend into more complicated formations, conventional well log interpretation has often shown its inaccuracy and limitations in identifying hydrocarbons. The Permian Wutonggou Formation hosts typical clastic reservoirs in the Eastern Junggar Basin. The sophisticated lithology characteristics cause complex pore structures and fluid properties. These all finally cause low well testing agreement rate using conventional methods. Eleven years' recent statistics show that 12 out of 15 water layers have been incorrectly identified as being oil or oil/water layers by conventional well log interpretation. This paper proposes a methodology called intelligent prediction and identification system (IPIS). Firstly, parameters reflecting lithological, petrophysical and electrical responses which are greatly related to reservoir fluids have been selected carefully. They are shale content (Vsh), numbered rock type (RN), porosity (φ), permeability (K), true resistivity (RT) and spontaneous-potential (SP). Secondly, Vsh, φ and K are predicted from well logs through artificial neural networks (ANNs). Finally, all the six parameters are input into a neuro-fuzzy inference machine (NFIM) to get fluids identification results. Eighteen new layers of 145.3 m effective thickness were examined by IPIS. There is full agreement with well testing results. This shows the system's accuracy and effectiveness. 展开更多

In this paper,an approach is developed to optimize the quality of the training samples in the conventional Artificial Neural Network(ANN)by incorporating expert knowledge in the means of constructing expert-rule samples from rules in an expert system, and through training by using these samples,an ANN based on expert-knowledge is further developed. The method is introduced into the field of quantitative identification of potential seismic sources on the basis of the rules in an expert system. Then it is applied to the quantitative identification of the potential seismic sources in Beijing and its adjacent area. The result indicates that the expert rule based on ANN method can well incorporate and represent the expert knowledge in the rules in an expert system, and the quality of the samples and the efficiency of training and the accuracy of the result are optimized. 展开更多

Intelligent Financial Advisors(IFAs)in online financial applications(apps)have brought new life to personal investment by providing appropriate and high-quality portfolios for users. In real-world scenarios, identifying potential clients is a crucial issue for IFAs,i.e.,identifying users who are willing to purchase the portfolios. Thus, extracting useful information from various characteristics of users and further predicting their purchase inclination are urgent. However, two critical problems encountered in real practice make this prediction task challenging,i.e.,sample selection bias and data sparsity. In this study,we formalize a potential conversion relationship,i.e.,user→activated user→client and decompose this relationship into three related tasks. Then,we propose a Multitask Feature Extraction Model(MFEM),which can leverage useful information contained in these related tasks and learn them jointly, thereby solving the two problems simultaneously. In addition,we design a two-stage feature selection algorithm to select highly relevant user features efficiently and accurately from an incredibly huge number of user feature fields. Finally,we conduct extensive experiments on a real-world dataset provided by a famous fintech bank.Experimental results clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of MFEM. 展开更多
