[Objectives]To understand the function and ritual uses of juniper wood in Tibetan communities.[Methods]Detailed surveys were carried out amongst students of the School of Nationalities at Qinghai Normal University,in ...[Objectives]To understand the function and ritual uses of juniper wood in Tibetan communities.[Methods]Detailed surveys were carried out amongst students of the School of Nationalities at Qinghai Normal University,in order to analyze the practical application and examine the variety of viewpoints concerning functions and importance of juniper wood in Tibetan culture.[Results]193 out of 200 survey respondents completed and returned valid survey questionnaires.Among the responses,slightly more than 95%(185/193=95.8%)of the total number of informants stated that the primary function of juniper wood was its use as an incense,burned as part of religious ritual or home purification.73%(142/193=73.58%)of informants said that juniper wood also represents a kind of sacred wood or prayer-wood(tib.lab-tse).An equal number of respondents also shared about the use of juniper in the making of prayer-beads.About 62%(121/193=62.6%)responded that juniper is used to make prayer-flag poles.About 45%said that juniper wood is understood as a sacred plant and thus"marked"with sheep wool or silk,and therefore protected from other human interaction by such markings.Additionally,49%(96/193=49.7%)of the informants indicated that juniper wood is also used for medicinal incense.Finally,about 34%(67/193=34.7%)noted juniper is also used for medicinal bath.[Conclusions]The survey responses demonstrate that the function and importance of juniper wood permeate several aspects of Tibetan belief and culture.展开更多

The direct conversion of atmospheric CO_(2) into fuel via photocatalysis exhibits significant practical application value in advancing the carbon cycle.In this study,we established an electro-assisted photocatalytic s...The direct conversion of atmospheric CO_(2) into fuel via photocatalysis exhibits significant practical application value in advancing the carbon cycle.In this study,we established an electro-assisted photocatalytic system with dual compartments and interfaces,and coated Ag nanoparticles on the titanium nanotube arrays(TNTAs)by polydopamine modification.In the absence of sacrificial agent and alkali absorption liquid conditions,the stable,efficient and highly selective conversion of CO_(2) to CO at the gas-solid interface in ambient air was realized by photoelectric synergy.Specifically,with the assistance of potential,the CO formation rates reached 194.9μmol h^(−1) m^(−2) and 103.9μmol h^(−1) m^(−2) under ultraviolet and visible light irradiation,respectively;the corresponding CO_(2) conversion rates in ambient air were 30%and 16%,respectively.The excellent catalytic effect is mainly attributed to the formation of P–N heterojunction during the catalytic process and the surface plasmon resonance effect.Additionally,the introduction of solid agar electrolytes effectively inhibits the hydrogen evolution reaction and improves the electron utilization rate.This system promotes the development of photocatalytic technology for practical applications and provides new insights and support for the carbon cycle.展开更多

Brittleness is an important parameter controlling the mechanical behavior and failure characteristics of rocks under loading and unloading conditions,such as fracability,cutability,drillability and rockburst proneness...Brittleness is an important parameter controlling the mechanical behavior and failure characteristics of rocks under loading and unloading conditions,such as fracability,cutability,drillability and rockburst proneness.As such,it is of high practical value to correctly evaluate rock brittleness.However,the definition and measurement method of rock brittleness have been very diverse and not yet been standardized.In this paper,the definitions of rock brittleness are firstly reviewed,and several representative definitions of rock brittleness are identified and briefly discussed.The development and role of rock brittleness in different fields of rock engineering are also studied.Eighty brittleness indices publicly available in rock mechanics literature are compiled,and the measurement method,applicability and limitations of some indices are discussed.The results show that(1)the large number of brittleness indices and brittleness definitions is attributed to the different foci on the rock behavior when it breaks;(2)indices developed in one field usually are not directly applicable to other fields;and(3)the term“brittleness”is sometimes misused,and many empirically-obtained brittleness indices,which lack theoretical basis,fail to truly reflect rock brittleness.On the basis of this review,three measurement methods are identified,i.e.(1)elastic deformation before fracture,(2)shape of post-peak stressestrain curves,and(3)methods based on fracture mechanics theory,which have the potential to be further refined and unified to become the standard measurement methods of rock brittleness.It is highly beneficial for the rock mechanics community to develop a robust definition of rock brittleness.This study will undoubtedly provide a comprehensive timely reference for selecting an appropriate brittleness index for their applications,and will also pave the way for the development of a standard definition and measurement method of rock brittleness in the long term.展开更多

We illustrate the actual function of Yin and Yang by explaining the essential state of matter, the law of physical movement, the transformation of energy, and then illustrate the practical application in life and science. In conclusion, yin-yang is a key to unlocking the treasures of traditional Chinese civilization, which can help to bring into play its original values, and continue to provide new insights and directions for the development of modern science and the advancement of humanities.

文摘The application of TBL teaching method to"Zhuang Medical Prescriptions"is an actual practice of group cooperative learning mode.Through this method,a more active learning atmosphere can be constructed,and it is also an activity to jointly achieve the teaching goals.From the perspective of the practice of basic teaching,it is a creative teaching strategy.Let students develop the awareness and habit of using team groups for cooperative inquisitive learning,so as to gradually improve students'level of comprehensive application analysis.This paper discusses in detail from the perspective of practical research and building,and compares data under different teaching methods with test results to prove that TBL teaching method is superior to traditional teaching method.

文摘Brittleness is an important parameter controlling the mechanical behavior and failure characteristics of rocks under loading and unloading conditions,such as fracability,cutability,drillability and rockburst proneness.As such,it is of high practical value to correctly evaluate rock brittleness.However,the definition and measurement method of rock brittleness have been very diverse and not yet been standardized.In this paper,the definitions of rock brittleness are firstly reviewed,and several representative definitions of rock brittleness are identified and briefly discussed.The development and role of rock brittleness in different fields of rock engineering are also studied.Eighty brittleness indices publicly available in rock mechanics literature are compiled,and the measurement method,applicability and limitations of some indices are discussed.The results show that(1)the large number of brittleness indices and brittleness definitions is attributed to the different foci on the rock behavior when it breaks;(2)indices developed in one field usually are not directly applicable to other fields;and(3)the term“brittleness”is sometimes misused,and many empirically-obtained brittleness indices,which lack theoretical basis,fail to truly reflect rock brittleness.On the basis of this review,three measurement methods are identified,i.e.(1)elastic deformation before fracture,(2)shape of post-peak stressestrain curves,and(3)methods based on fracture mechanics theory,which have the potential to be further refined and unified to become the standard measurement methods of rock brittleness.It is highly beneficial for the rock mechanics community to develop a robust definition of rock brittleness.This study will undoubtedly provide a comprehensive timely reference for selecting an appropriate brittleness index for their applications,and will also pave the way for the development of a standard definition and measurement method of rock brittleness in the long term.

The first prototype of cable-driven mechanisms is RoboCrane, which was developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Then many excellent properties were developed and they have a variety of applications such as aerospace, aircraft and automobile industries [1]. Example application for RoboCrane in the field of aircraft mainte- nance is equipped with a quick-change mechanism to remove the robot arm remotely.
