The Practice of Palliative Care amongst Nurses in Selected Hospitals in Eastern Nigeria

In recent times, palliative care nursing has caught the attention of nurse researchers in Africa as more individuals are being diagnosed with chronic diseases of the aged like cancer, cardiac and cerebrovascular conditions. This study examined the influence of knowledge and attitude on the practice of palliative care among practicing nurses in eastern part of Nigeria. A descriptive cross-sectional research design was used for the study. The population of the study is all registered, licensed and practicing nurses working in the named public and private hospitals where palliative care is supposedly well established. Proportionate sampling technique was used to select 289 respondents. Three commercial instruments that were modified were used for data collection. Level of significance was set at 5%. The study was conducted from October 2018 to June 2019. Results revealed that 52.7% of the respondents had satisfactory practice of palliative care, 73.7% of the respondents had adequate knowledge of palliative care (mean 2.64 (1.06) and 77.5% of the respondents had positive attitude towards palliative care (Mean 2.81 (1.14)). There was also a significant weak positive association between nurses’ educational level and their knowledge of palliative care with an effect size of 21.9% (P = 0.003). There was also a significant association between nurses’ years of experience and their attitude to palliative care with an effect size of 35.6% (P < 0.001). There was no significant association between type of hospital facility nurses work in and their practice of palliative care (P = 0.343). Recommendations were made on how to improve the practice of palliative care among professional nurses.

How Do Mind-Body Practices Benefit Employees? A Daily Diary Study of Mind–Body Practices after Work and Employees’ Next-Day Proactive Behavior

Although it is becoming increasingly popular for organizations to offer programs of mind–body practices to their employees to improve their physical and mental health,the effects that after-work sessions of mind–body prac-tices have on employees’work behavior remain unclear.Using the model of proactive motivation and experience sampling,this study explored the relationship between employees’mind–body practices after work and their proactive behavior in the workplace on the following day.A multilevel path analysis of data from 82 employees over seven consecutive workdays showed that employees’mind–body practices after work had a positive effect on their proactive behavior in the workplace on the following day.The relationship was mediated by next-day high-activated positive affect and problem-solving confidence.Furthermore,job control positively moderated the rela-tionship between high-activated positive affect and proactive behavior but not that between problem-solving con-fidence and proactive behavior.We discuss the theoretical and practical implications of thesefindings,and propose future research directions.

Mothers Experience about Complementary Feeding Practice in Bangladesh

Background: Complementary feeding is a significant milestone that has nutritional, developmental, and health implications. Worldwide, 33% of the deaths are linked to malnutrition. Objective: To describe the mothers’ experience about complementary feeding practice with child aged less than two years in Bangladesh. Method: A descriptive qualitative study was conducted from July 2018 to June 2019. This study was approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) NIANER. 20 mothers of children of 6 - 24 months of age were recruited purposively who live in Sattalla slum. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the mothers’ demographic characteristics and thematic analysis was used to describe mothers’ experience about complementary feeding practice. Results: The study showed that the average age of the mothers was 25 (SD = 4.75) years. Only 5% of the mothers have higher education. Through the findings, two main themes have been identified. Moreover, first main theme includes three subthemes. Fifty percent of the mothers stated that appropriate time to start complementary food for their babies is from 6 months of age. Mothers feed various types of complementary foods. Most of the mothers have knowledge about complementary feeding but they do not practice appropriately. Almost all of the mothers (95%) stated that their babies do not like to eat anything, and 45% of mothers feed only breast milk. Conclusion: Findings of the study will provide information for the nurses resulted in increasing the rate of complementary feeding practice among mothers of children in Bangladesh. Future study is needed to identify the factors influencing complementary feeding practice among mothers of 6 - 24 months old children in Bangladesh.

Reform of Practical Teaching of “Linux Operating System Fundamentals” Under the Background of Emerging Engineering Education

With the advancement of the construction of emerging engineering education,the reform of practical teaching has become an important task of higher engineering education.This article takes the course“Linux Operating System Fundamentals”as an example to explore practical teaching reform in the context of emerging engineering education.By analyzing the current situation and problems in course practical teaching,we proposed practical teaching reforms such as online experiments,practical content updates,project-based engineering practices,and diversified evaluation models,and designed corresponding implementation plans.Practice has proved that this reform can improve students’learning interest and engineering practical skills,and cultivate outstanding engineers with innovative spirit and practical skills.

Practice of Developing Low-carbon Leisure Agriculture in Agricultural Sci-tech Experiment and Demonstration Park: A Case Study of Xinglong Tropical Botanical Park

The Agricultural Science and Technology Experiment and Demonstration Park,as a unique tourist scenic spot,is a new model for the development of low-carbon leisure agriculture.In this paper,with Xinglong Tropical Botanical Park as a study case,the practice of developing a model of low-carbon agricultural science and technology tourism in the park is explored.Main measures for developing low-carbon leisure agriculture in Agricultural Science and Technology Experiment and Demonstration Park are summarized,including development of low carbon attractors,construction of low carbon facilities,strengthening low-carbon management,building low-carbon environment and so on,according to analysis on the models for development of low-carbon agricultural science tourism in this park.

Reform and Practice in Education for Marine Hydrodynamic Course Based on Experiment Verification

In view of problems on the traditional education for marine hydrodynamic course, such as obsolete course content and methods of instruction, disjointed theory and experiment, and obscure effects, this paper explores and proposes a new reform and practice strategy for the marine hydrodynamic course using numerical simulation and experiment verification. The reform in education based on experiment verification focuses on the high-level theory, the experiment research and the professional skills. The results show that innovative potential and independent learning ability of students are aroused and cultivated, which satisfy the teaching requirements in the new era.

ENCLOSURE EXPERIMENTS ON AND LACUSTRINE PRACTICE FOR ELIMINATING MICROCYSTIS BLOOM

Microcystis bloom, one of the most objectionable characteristics of eutrophication in tropical and subtropical waters, occurred in Donghu Lake (East Lake) of Wuhan every summer from the 1970s up to 1984, but from 1985 up to now failed to occur there. The cause of its disappearance remained in obscurity until recently. In situ enclosure experiments in the lake for three years showed that the stocking of the filter-feeding silver carp (Hypophthalmichthys molitrix) and big-head carp (Aristichthys nobilis) played a decisive role in eliminating Microcystis bloom from the lake; but that recurrence of the bloom is possible under certain conditions. This paper presents the details and the results of enclosure experiments. The authors’ analysis of fish biomass data obtained by echo-sounding and the fishery production of the lake over the years, revealed that the recurrence of Microcystis bloom can be prevented so long as the combined biomass of silver carp and big-head carp remains at or exceeds 50 g per cubic meter of lakewater, as was the case in the lake’s 1985 fish yield of 1015 t.

Exploration of Stratified Evidence Scoring Method of Acupuncture Clinical Practice Guidelines

Due to its own internal laws of development,Chinese medicine(CM)seems more inclined to empirical medicine in a relatively long historical period.It is considered to be lacking objective and unified clinical practice guidelines(CPGs),and the difficulties in diagnosis and therapeutic effect evaluation comes with it,have restricted its further inheritance,development and international communication.Over the years,our research group has been committed to improving the standardization theory and methodology of CM,also perfecting relative techniques for further application,which are all based on the stratified evidence scoring method.We have already applied this method to 45 issued guidelines,including 5 national guidelines,3 industrial guidelines,and 37 formulation/revision social organization guidelines.The stratified evidence scoring method has been recognized and used widely.It helps scholars and applicators to study,formulate,publish and popularize the acupuncture therapy clinical practice guidelines better,thus further promotes the development of acupuncture therapy.

The application of plant dyeing technology in the full dress design

The plant dyeing technology has a history of thousands of years in China, its brilliant color with natural material, it can be an effect that chemical dyes can't be. This technology should be widely studied and applied. This paper provides perfect introduction to the practical design works; it seeks more expression of plant dyeing through the tentative application of plant dyeing technology in the full dress design and with the combination of traditional dyeing skills and modern design, it will also provides a new thought for the diversification and innovation of design.

Practical Experience in Home Care of Nursing Interns: A Qualitative Research

Purpose: To explore practical experience in home care of nursing interns. Methods: The phenomenological method for qualitative research was to interview 15 nursing interns in a semi-structured way, and then the collected data were analyzed and summarized by using the Colaizzi analysis method. Results: Interviewing results showed that there were five recurring themes, including: 1) personalized care;2) health education;3) humanistic care;4) solid professional foundation and sense of responsibility;5) expanded vision. Conclusion: Through home care practice, nursing interns deepened their cognitions of nursing connotation, stimulated their love for nursing and motivation of continuous learning, and improved their sense of identity to nursing career. In general, the practice of home care had a positive impact on nursing interns.

Open Market Operations in China: Practice and Experience

On the basis of reviewing the reform on open mar-ket operations, this paper analyzes the framework, op-erational target and basic experience of open marketoperations of the People’s Bank of China. The authorpoints out that open market operations need to be coor-dinated with the use of other monetary policyinstruments; the infrastructure of open market opera-tions should be strengthened, and the development ofthe money market and the bond market should be fur-ther promoted. The author ends this article with theoutlook for open market operations in the future.

Century-Long History and Basic Experience of the CPC in Leading China’s Rural Development

Over the past century,the Communist Party of China(CPC)has led hundreds of millions of farmers through five stages(rural revolution,rural construction,rural reform,rural transformation and rural revitalization)to forge a road of rural development with Chinese characteristics.In the course of constant exploration and innovation,the CPC has always adhered to its original aspiration and founding mission of seeking happiness for the farmers,taken liberating and developing the productive forces as the central principle,regarded coordinating urban and rural development as the action guideline,and set“achieving common prosperity”as the target direction,and accumulated valuable historical experiences in three aspects:Firstly,the CPC has emphasized the vital role and pioneering spirit of farmers,effectively mobilizing and organizing the broad participation of rural masses.Secondly,it has committed to the collective ownership of rural land and managed the relationship between farmers and land.Lastly,the CPC has remained focused on the interests of farmers,continuously advancing reform and innovation in accordance with the changing times.

Exploring the Relation between Karma, Qi, Spirituality, and Subjective Well-Being among People in Taiwan

In addition to recognizing well-being as a multidimensional construct,the potential indicators of well-being also have been recognized as multivariate.Specifically,some recent studies have suggested that various indices of social beliefs,religious attitudes and spiritual practices have been said to be robustly associated with well-being.Therefore,given the overwhelming need for promoting well-being and an increasing recognition of the multivariate indicators of well-being,this research project attempted to evaluate the relation of Qi,karma,transcendental experiences,and spiritual practices with the subjective well-being of people in Taiwan.The relevant data from the national sample of 1,933 participants were subjected to factor analysis to extract relevant factors,which included social and religious attitudes of karma and Qi,spiritual indicators of transcendental experiences and spiritual practices,and positive indicators of subjective well-being.In addition to significant intercorrelations,the hierarchical regression analyses after controlling for demographics suggested that Qi had the highest contribution to subjective well-being,followed by spiritual practices,karma,and transcendental experiences.These results are discussed,their implications are elucidated,and the directions for future research are suggested.

Air Tightness Control of Passenger Car Wheels

Since the tubeless tires and especially cast alloy wheels are used, the air tightness of wheels is an important factor of the automobiles quality. Based on specification of the car industry that up to 10% decrease of the prescribed nominal tire pressure during a time of six-month is allowed, the requirements presented in specifications and norms are treated and validated. The practical experience and influences on the wheel tightness control are discussed and the data presented in a report of a wheel manufacturer, concerning the replacements of wheels in service due to air leakage are evaluated. Summarizing the results of analyses, a proposal is made for the testing of the cast aluminum car wheels to meet the requirements for a reliable and economical air tightness control in modern test facilities.

NDT-Suite: A Methodological Tool Solution in the Model-Driven Engineering Paradigm

Although the Model-Driven paradigm is being accepted in the research environment as a very useful and powerful option for effective software development, its real application in the enterprise context is still a challenge for software engineering. Several causes can be stacked out, but one of them can be the lack of tool support for the efficient application of this paradigm. This paper presents a set of tools, grouped in a suite named NDT-Suite, which under the Model-Driven paradigm offer a suitable solution for software development. These tools explore different options that this paradigm can improve such as, development, quality assurance or requirement treatment. Besides, this paper analyses how they are being successfully applied in the industry.
