Vividly Colored Accessories and Mood Changes in Patients Undergoing Breast Surgery

Few studies have examined the impacts of color stimuli on perioperative mood and quality of recovery;thus, this randomized controlled trial aimed to assess impacts of vividly colored accessories on mood and quality of recovery after breast surgery. This single-center, single-blind randomized controlled trial included 36 participants (all aged ≥ 20 years) who were randomized into intervention (n = 19) and control groups (n = 17). The intervention group received vividly colored accessories. The primary and secondary study outcomes were patient mood, evaluated using a two-dimensional mood scale, and postoperative recovery, evaluated using Quality of Recovery-15, which were assessed on postoperative day 3. There were no statistical intergroup differences in the scores of the Two-Dimensional Mood Scale (11.2 [intervention group] vs. 10.4 [control group], P = 0.75) and Quality of Recovery-15 (126.8 [intervention group] vs. 129.3 [control group], P = 0.73). Thus, the use of vividly colored accessories by patients undergoing breast surgery was not found to affect patients’ mood and quality of recovery. 展开更多

However, the equipme... Background: Nosocomial infections have become a major challenge in healthcare facilities as they affect the quality of medical care. Radiological imaging plays a crucial role in medical diagnosis. However, the equipment and accessories used increase the risk of transmission of nosocomial bacteria. Objective: This study aims to reveal the extent and nature of microbiological contamination in four hospital diagnostic imaging departments to determine their potential role in the spread of nosocomial bacteria and to evaluate the effectiveness of routine daily disinfection practices in controlling microorganisms in diagnostic imaging departments. Methods & Results: In each department, swabs were taken from the surfaces of selected parts of the equipment and accessories three times a day (early morning, noon, and evening) for five consecutive days. Bacteria were isolated from 65 swabs (36.1% of all samples). The bacteria were isolated 3 times (4.6%) in the morning, 16 times (24.6%) at midday, and 46 times (70.7%) in the evening. The bacteria isolated were Escherichia coli (isolated 34 times;52.3%), Staphylococcus aureus (20 times;30.8%), Staphylococcus epidermidis (6 times;9.3%), and Klebsiella species (5 times;7.7%). Discussion & Conclusion: Findings demonstrated that radiology equipment and accessories are not free of bacteria and further improvements in the sterilization and disinfection of radiology equipment and accessories are needed to protect staff and patients from nosocomial infections. 展开更多

This paper investigated the effects of pre-heating treatment temperatures(T_(pre))on the flowability and wax deposition characteristics of a typical waxy crude oil after adding wax inhibitors.It is found that there is little difference in wax precipitation exothermic characteristics of crude oils at different T_(pre),as well as the wax crystal solubility coefficient in the temperature range of 25-30℃.For the undoped crude oil,the flowability after wax precipitation gets much improved and the wax deposition is alleviated as T_(pre)increasing.At T_(pre)=50℃,the viscosity and wax deposition rate of crude oil adding wax inhibitors are higher than those of the undoped crude oil.When the T_(pre)increases to 60,70,and 80℃,the flowability of the doped crude oil are largely improved and the wax deposition is suppressed with the T_(pre)increase,but the wax content of wax deposit increases gradually.It is speculated that,on the one hand,the T_(pre)increase helps the dispersion of asphaltenes into smaller sizes,which facilitates the co-crystallization with paraffin waxes and generates more aggregated wax crystal flocs.This weakens the low-temperature gel structure and increases the solid concentration required for the crosslink to form the wax deposit.On the other hand,the decrease in viscosity increases the diffusion rate of wax molecules and accelerates the aging of wax deposits.The experimental results have important guiding significance for the pipeline transportation of doped crude oils. 展开更多

In this work,multivariate detection limits(MDL)estimator was obtained based on the microelectro-mechanical systems–near infrared(MEMS–NIR)technology coupled with two sampling accessories to assess the detection capability of four quality parameters(glycyrrhizic acid,liquiritin,liquiritigenin and isoliquiritin)in licorice from di®erent geographical regions.112 licorice samples were divided into two parts(calibration set and prediction set)using Kennard–Stone(KS)method.Four quality parameters were measured using high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)method according to Chinese pharmacopoeia and previous studies.The MEMS–NIR spectra were acquired from¯ber optic probe(FOP)and integrating sphere,then the partial least squares(PLS)model was obtained using the optimum processing method.Chemometrics indicators have been utilized to assess the PLS model performance.Model assessment using chemometrics indicators is based on relative mean prediction error of all concentration levels,which indicated relatively low sensitivity for low-content analytes(below 1000 parts per million(ppm)).Therefore,MDL estimator was introduced with alpha error and beta error based on good prediction characteristic of low concentration levels.The result suggested that MEMS–NIR technology coupled with fiber optic probe(FOP)and integrating sphere was able to detect minor analytes.The result further demonstrated that integrating sphere mode(i.e.,MDL0:05;0:05,0.22%)was more robust than FOP mode(i.e.,MDL0:05;0:05,0.48%).In conclusion,this research proposed that MDL method was helpful to determine the detection capabilities of low-content analytes using MEMS–NIR technology and successful to compare two sampling accessories. 展开更多

This paper presents the recent study by investigating the vital responses of wire bonding with the application of conduction pre-heating. It is observed through literature reviews that, the effect of pre-heating has not been completely explored to enable the successful application of pre-heating during wire bonding. The aim of wire bonding is to form quality and reliable solid-state bonds to interconnect metals such as gold wires to metalized pads deposited on silicon integrated circuits. Typically, there are 3 main wire bonding techniques applied in the industry;Thermo-compression, Ultrasonic and Thermosonic. This experiment utilizes the most common and widely used platform which is thermosonic bonding. This technique is explored with the application of conduction pre-heating along with heat on the bonding site, ultrasonic energy and force on an Au-Al system. Sixteen groups of bonding conditions which include eight hundred data points of shear strength at various temperature settings were compared to establish the relationship between bonding strength and the application of conduction pre-heating. The results of this study will clearly indicate the effects of applied conduction pre-heating towards bonding strength which may further produce a robust wire bonding system. 展开更多

In textile finishing, stenters always draw considerable attention to newer inventions to boost up production via maximum utilization of energy. Prior to main drying or heat-setting chambers, intermediate heating of cylindrical system especially by steam has a direct blessing to moisture evaporation, processing speed, fabric quality and so on. Based on actual operational data, this study reveals the outcomes of a pre-heating module installed within a stenter. After employing the pre-heating system to knit fabrics of different structures and compositions, 23% - 61% moisture reduction was found and the speed of processing fabrics was increased simultaneously by 17% - 30% without any compromise on fabric quality. Moreover, no less than 8.21% savings in annual electricity consumption were observed. 展开更多

X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and UV-Vis spectrophotometry were employed to illustrate the effects of the pre-heating temperature on the crystalline structure, surface morphology and transmission spectra of Zn_(0.8)Cd_(0.2)O thin films. When the thin films were pre-heated at 150 ℃, polycrystalline Zn O thin films were obtained. When the thin films were pre-heated at temperatures of 200 ℃ or higher, preferential growth of Zn O nanocrystals along the c-axis was observed. Transmission spectra showed that thin films with high transmission in the visible light range were prepared and effective bandgap energies of these thin films decreased from 3.19 e V to 3.08 e V when the pre-heating temperature increased from 150 ℃ to 300 ℃. 展开更多

Compound Liangmianzhen buccal tablet is a drug that exhibits notable effect on cough and diphtheria.Since the accessory has been changed,along with the difficulties in traditional Chinese drug-evaluation,it is imperative to set up a reliable method to evaluate the drug and ensure the quality consistency.First,the content of the Compound Liangmianzhen buccal tablets reflected by fingerprints were evaluated by the comprehensive linearly quantified fingerprint method and systematic quantified fingerprint method,in which thirteen fingerprint peaks was selected and gallic acid was chosen as the reference peak.The results of the two methods showed all batches in grades 1–3 of above good level with the qualitative similarities of Sl and Sm above 0.90,and the quantitative ones of Pl%and Pm%from 80%–120%,indicating all samples far qualified.Second,the measurement of antioxidant effect based on DPPH free radical clearance test has demonstrated the consistency between the old prescription group and the new ones and further dug up the major antioxidant compositions.Third,dissolution profiles at 190 to 400 nm that evaluate the curative effect consistency were evaluated by f2 and the correlation of the dissolution curve.In conclusion,the combination of 3 kinds of analysis methods can comprehensively assess the quality of the traditional Chinese drug and be served as a routine procedure to evaluate the herbal medicine consistency. 展开更多
