The scope of this study was to measure even minor pressure differencesin the anastomosis of TCPC patients, who are clinically uncompromised. Methods: Twenty-four patients(median 15 years [8;34]) with TCPC were studied prospectively by 4D-flow MRI. Pressure differences betweensuperior vena cava (SVC) and extracardiac conduit (C) to both right pulmonary artery (RPA) and left pulmonaryartery (LPA) were assessed. Small fluid obstructions as vortices within the anastomosis were detected by flowpathlines from 4D-flow MRI. In two patients pressure differences were calculated also by computational flowdynamics (CFD) as a plausibility check for the order of magnitude. Results: Median values of pressure differencesin the anastomosis between SVC and RPA were 0.63 (0.21–2.1) mmHg, between C and RPA 0.67 (0.3–2.2)mmHg, between SVC and LPA 0.8 (0.3–2.4) mmHg and between C and LPA 0.7 (0.2–1.9) mmHg. Patients withpotential flow obstruction (stents, occluder, vortices) had significantly higher gradients at the anastomosis (p <0.05) than patients without potential obstructions, although the absolute values were small. CFD- and measurement-based pressure difference showed good agreement. Conclusion: 4D-flow MRI is able to detect minor pressuredifferences within the Fontan circuit even in patients with apparently satisfactory TCPC. Slightly higherpressure differences are due to the presence of small flow obstruction.展开更多

The model pipelines are buried in three kinds of soils, including gravel, sand and silt with different burial depth. The input waves change with height and period. The results show that the amplitudes of wave-induced pore pressure increase as the wave period increase, and decay from the surface to the bottom of seabed. Higher pore pressures are recorded at the pipeline top and the lower pore pressures at the bottom, especially in the sand seabed. The normalized pressure around pipeline decreases as the relative water depth, burial depth or scattering parameters increase. For the silt seabed, the wavelet transform has been successfully used to analyze the signals of wave - induced pore pressure, and the oscillatory and residual pore pressure can be extracted by wavelet analysis. Higher oscillatory pressures are recorded at the bottom and the lower pressures at the top of the pipeline. However, higher residual pressures are recorded at the top and the lower pressures at the bottom of the pipeline.展开更多

Increased intracranial pressure can also reduce optic nerve damage in glaucoma patients, and a safe, effective and noninvasive way to achieve this is by increasing the intra-abdominal pressure. The purpose of this study was to observe the changes in orbital subarachnoid space width and intraocular pressure at elevated intra-abdominal pressure. An inflatable abdominal belt was tied to each of 15 healthy volunteers, aged 22-30 years (12 females and 3 males), at the navel level, without applying pressure to the abdomen, before they laid in the magnetic resonance imaging machine. The baseline orbital subarachnoid space width around the optic nerve was measured by magnetic resonance imaging at 1, 3, 9, and 15 mm behind the globe. The abdominal belt was inflated to increase the pressure to 40 mmHg (1 mmHg = 0.133 kPa), then the orbital subarachnoid space width was measured every 10 minutes for 2 hours. After removal of the pressure, the measurement was repeated 10 and 20 minutes later. In a separate trial, the intraocular pressure was measured for all the subjects at the same time points, before, during and after elevated intra-abdominal pressure. Results showed that the baseline mean orbital subarachnoid space width was 0.88 + 0.1 mm (range: 0.77-1.05 mm), 0.77 + 0.11 mm (range: 0.60-0.94 mm), 0.70 + 0.08 mm (range: 0.62-0.80 ram), and 0.68 _+ 0.08 mm (range: 0.57-0.77 mm) at 1, 3, 9, and 15 mm behind the globe, respectively. During the elevated intra-abdominal pressure, the orbital subarachnoid space width increased from the baseline and dilation of the optic nerve sheath was significant at 1, 3 and 9 mm behind the globe. After decompression of the abdominal pressure, the orbital subarachnoid space width normalized and returned to the baseline value. There was no significant difference in the intraocular pressure before, during and after the intra-abdominal pressure elevation. These results verified that the increased intra-abdominal pressure widens the orbital subarachnoid space in this acute trial, but does not alter the intraocular pressure, indicating that intraocular pressure is not affected by rapid increased in- tra-abdominal pressure. This study was registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (registration number: ChiCTR-ONRC-14004947).展开更多

The aim of this paper is to explore the individual differences and coping strategies of a cohort of women with health professionals’ occupational pressure. This is a cross-sectional survey, informed by the transactional model of stress and coping framework, and carried out on women health professionals (n = 203) from the Kuala Lumpur Hospital. Multiple regressions were conducted to examine the potential moderators of stress. Women Health Professionals reported stress with six out of eight organizational sources of pressure, with relationship being a key stressor. Their individual differences (mean + SD) were characterised by low drive (7.6 + 1.9-8.2 + 2.0), low personal influence (10.8 + 2.0 to 11.7 + 2.3), moderate control (13.4 + 3.4 to 16.3 + 2.4), and high impatience behaviour (19.1 + 3.8 to 20.4 + 3.3). With Coping strategy, the Life-work-balance coping is a significant positive predictor for five out of the nine outcomes of occupational pressure [state of mind (p ress management guideline to ameliorate stress amongst those vulnerable workers. Future studies to examine individual differences of these female-dominated professions across health setting are needed to better inform the pressure-at-work issues for the increasing Asian women health professionals.展开更多

Taking each municipal administrative division as evaluation unit,temporal-spatial change trend of cultivated land pressure level was explored by establishing pressure index model of cultivated land, and principal component analysis was used to explore the driving force of cultivated land pressure. Results showed that from 1980 to 2014 in Guangxi, cultivated land pressure was at level one in 12 years, level two in 19 years and level three in 4 years; mean of cultivated land pressure in each city during 2005-2014 was taken as average level of cultivated land pressure in the city,in which cultivated land pressure values of Chongzuo City,Baise City,Laibin City,Liuzhou City,Fangchenggang City,Nanning City,Hechi City and Guigang City were all lower than average level in Guangxi at the same period. Driving factors of cultivated land pressure index mainly contained urbanization rate,Engel coefficient of rural households(ECRH),per capita cultivated land area, total population and rural per capita net income(RPFI).展开更多

The configuration of a fully collapsed ring is considered as a real dumbbell shape with a line touch between two 'bells', instead of the dumbbell shape with a point touch of two diametrically opposite points. Calculations are performed assuming that the dominant effect on the plastic energy dissipation has the circumferential bending mode. For the linear strain-hardening materials it is found that theoretical predictions based on the above model for both propagation pressure and initiation nressure are in good agreement with experimental results of Kyriakides et al.展开更多

文摘This paper aims to design an optimized blade for Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine(HWAT).Since airfoil is a basic component of blade design,an optimized airfoil(referred as SJX)was proposed based on the line theory through the weight analogy to pressure distribution of air flow. Its lift, drag, lift⁃to⁃drag ratio were compared with those NACA2409⁃34,NACA2410,and RK40 airfoils by using Profili software at fixed wind velocity and under different angles of attack. The NACA2409⁃34 airfoil was found to be greatly similar with the SJX airfoil.Based on the Wilson method, blades using SJX and NACA2490⁃34 airfoils were developed and different performance parameters such as velocity distribution, pressure distribution, and power were compared under variable wind velocities and different angles of attack ranging from-4°to 6°at different radius from the center of rotor using computational fluid dynamics(CFD)in ANSYS FLUENT.Results of the study suggested that the performance of the SJX based airfoil and blade was much more optimized.

文摘A series of regular wave experiments have been done in a large-scale wave flume to investigate the wave-induced pore pressure around the submarine shallowly embedded pipelines. However, higher residual pressures are recorded at the top and the lower pressures at the bottom of the pipeline.
文摘In accordance with the trans-lamina cribrosa pressure difference theory, decreasing the trans-lamina cribrosa pressure difference can re- lieve glaucomatous optic neuropathy. This study was registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (registration number: ChiCTR-ONRC-14004947).

文摘The effects of hydrogen charging time and pressure on the hydrogen embrittlement(HE)susceptibility of X52 pipeline steel material are studied by slow strain rate tensile tests. The fracture morphologies of the specimens are observed by scanning electron microscopy. The HE susceptibility of the X52 pipeline steel material increases with an increase in both hydrogen charging time and hydrogen pressure. At a charging time of 96 h,the HE susceptibility index reaches 45.86%,approximately 3.6 times that at a charging time of 0 h.Similarly,a charging pressure of 4 MPa results in a HE susceptibility index of 31.61%,approximately 2.5 times higher than that at a charging pressure of 0.3 MPa.

文摘An integrated approach was proposed to evaluate the remaining useful life(RUL)of corroded petroleum pipelines. Two types of failure modes(i.e.,leakage and burst failure)were considered, and the corresponding limit state functions(LSFs)were established with the structural reliability theory.A power-law function was applied to model the growth of corrosion defects, and the effect of external environmental factors on the growth of the pipeline s defect was considered. Moreover, the result was compared with the commonly used linear growth model. After that,a finite element simulation model was established to calculate the burst pressure of the pipeline with corrosion defects, and its accuracy was verified through hydraulic burst test and by comparison with international criteria. On that basis, the probability that the pipeline may fail was calculated with Monte Carlo simulation(MCS)and by considering the LSFs,and the pipeline s RUL was obtained accordingly.Furthermore, sensitivity analysis was conducted to determine the sensitivity parameters for the corrosion and RUL of the pipeline. The results indicate that the radial corrosion rate, wall thickness and working pressure have a great influence on the failure probability of the pipeline. Thus, corresponding measures should be adopted during the operation process of the pipeline to reduce the corrosion rate and increase the wall thickness,so as to prolong the pipeline s RUL.
文摘Individual differences and coping skills have influential impacts on stress process by influencing the eventual outcomes of the stressors, contributing to either wellbeing, or illness and negative experiences. Future studies to examine individual differences of these female-dominated professions across health setting are needed to better inform the pressure-at-work issues for the increasing Asian women health professionals.
文摘A corrosion defect is recognized as one of the most severe phenomena for high-pressure pipelines, especially those served for a long time.Finite-element method and empirical formulas are thereby used for the strength prediction of such pipes with corrosion. However,it is time-consuming for finite-element method and there is a limited application range by using empirical formulas. In order to improve the prediction of strength, this paper investigates the burst pressure of line pipelines with a single corrosion defect subjected to internal pressure based on data-driven methods.Three supervised ML(machine learning)algorithms, including the ANN(artificial neural network),the SVM(support vector machine)and the LR(linear regression),are deployed to train models based on experimental data.Data analysis is first conducted to determine proper pipe features for training.Hyperparameter tuning to control the learning process is then performed to fit the best strength models for corroded pipelines.Among all the proposed data-driven models, the ANN model with three neural layers has the highest training accuracy, but also presents the largest variance. The SVM model provides both high training accuracy and high validation accuracy. The LR model has the best performance in terms of generalization ability. These models can be served as surrogate models by transfer learning with new coming data in future research, facilitating a sustainable and intelligent decision-making of corroded pipelines.
文摘Effects of temperature and pressure differences on water seepage in breccia were investigated by using the physicochemical seepage instrument. The results show that the relationship of flow and pressure differences can be expressed by a linear equation, and the seepage coefficient is linearly correlated with temperature. The relation-ship between seepage flow and temperature could be described with the linear equation. The constant and tempera-ture seepage coefficient showed a linear relation with pressure.Binary quantitative equation for the seepage flow, temperature and pressure was obtained, and explained with experimental data and theoretical analysis.

文摘For oil pipeline in mountain areas, high hydrostatic pressure in the pipeline may cause error-opening of pressure relief valves, and oil is discharged from the pipeline to the pressure relief tanks, bringing spilling-over risk of the pressure relief tanks. Therefore, simulating the error-opening situations of the pressure relief valves and investigating the oil discharge process are necessary for checking the possibility of the spilling-over accident and then proposing measures to improve the pressure relief system. This research focuses on a continuous undulating oil pipeline with large elevation difference and a station along this pipeline, which is named B station in this paper,is studied.By OLGA software, simulation model of the pressure relief system of B station is established, and the accuracy of the model is verified by reconstructing a real accident and making a comparison with the actual accident data. The maximum discharge rate reached 8284 m3/h when the pressure relief valve was opened by mistake in the inlet and outlet of the station. The accumulated filling time of the two pressure relief tanks is 200 s,which is in good agreement with the accident data.On this basis, for error-opening of the pressure relief valves at the inlet and outlet of B station, simulation is performed to investigate variations of the discharge velocity, discharge flow rate, accumulated discharge volume and ventilation volume of the vent valve. The discharge velocity is found to be over the maximum velocity allowed for safety consideration.According to the accumulated discharge volume,it is inferred that spilling over of the pressure relief tanks will be caused once error-opening of the pressure relief valve occurs. Also it is judged that the existing breathing valve can not satisfy the ventilation requirement in case of failure of the pressure relief valves. From these simulation results,it is proposed that increasing the number of vent valves, replacing the manual valves with electrically operated valves, and employing security control interlock protection program are improvement measures to guarantee safe, efficient and reliable operation of the pressure relief system at B station.

文摘An analytical model of a ring with six yield hinges and two deformable arc segments is presented for. the prediction of the buckle propagation pressure and initiation pressure in offshore pipelines. For the linear strain-hardening materials it is found that theoretical predictions based on the above model for both propagation pressure and initiation nressure are in good agreement with experimental results of Kyriakides et al.
