AIM:To describe the gonioscopic profile and intraocular pressure(IOP)in primary angle-closure(PAC)disease in patients presenting to a tertiary eye care network in India.METHODS:A cross-sectional hospital-based study that included 31484 new patients presenting between 2011 and 2021.Patients with a clinical diagnosis of PAC/suspect/glaucoma were included. The data was collected from an electronic medical record system.RESULTS:PAC glaucoma(PACG)(47.55%)was the most common diagnosis followed by PAC(39.49%)and PAC suspect(PACS;12.96%).Female preponderance(54.6%)was noted with higher mean age at presentation among males(P<0.0001).PACS and PAC showed the highest prevalence in 6th decade but PACG was higher at 7th decade. The probability of angle opening was 95.93%,90.32%and 63.36%in PACS,PAC and PACG eyes respectively post peripheral iridotomy(PI).Plateau iris syndrome(PIS)was noted in 252 eyes and all showed post dilated rise of IOP.A post dilated IOP rise was also noted with 8.86%,33.95%and 57.19%eyes with PACS,PAC and PACG respectively with IOP rise between 6-8 mm Hg across the disease spectrum.CONCLUSION:The superior quadrant is the narrowest angle and difficult to open with indentation and post PI.The probability of angle opening is less in PIS especially the complete variety along with post dilated IOP rise. The post dilated IOP rise in angle closure eyes warrants a careful dilatation, especially with PIS. 展开更多

The effect of the particle size of coal dust on explosion pressure and the rising rate of explosion pressure is studied. Three coal dusts from Lingan Coal Mine in Canada and Datong Coal Mine in China are selected to test. The influence of particle size on the maximum explosion pressure P max and maximum pressure rising rate (d p /d t ) max of each coal dust was tested experimentally. The results indicate that with the decrease of particle size of coal dusts, explosion pressure increases on condition of the same concentration. If the concentration of coal dust is different, the maximum explosion pressure appears at the concentration of 500 g/m^3. The smaller the particle size of coal dusts, the larger the rising rate of explosion pressure of coal dust. When the concentration of coal dust is 500 g/m^3, the rising rate of explosion pressure of each coal dust is the maximum. 展开更多

A simplified HSS setup is designed to support this work. A two-dimensional arc model is developed to analyze the characteristics of fault arc based on magnetic-hydrodynamic (MHD) theory. The advantage of such a model is that the thermal transfer coefficient can be determined by depending on the numerical method alone. The influence of net emission coefficients (NEC) radiation model and P1 model on fault arc is analyzed in detail. Results show that NEC model predicts more radiation energy and less pressure rise without the re-absorption effect considered. As a consequence, P1 model is more suitable to calculate the pressure rise caused by fault arc. Finally, the pressure rise during longer arcing time for different arc currents is predicted. 展开更多

This paper focuses on the simulation of a fault arc in a closed tank based on the magneto-hydrodynamic (MHD) method, in which a comparative study of three radiation models, including net emission coefficients (NEC), semi-empirical model based on NEC as well as the P1 model, is developed. The pressure rise calculated by the three radiation models are compared to the measured results. Particularly when the senti-empirical model is used, the effect of different boundary temperatures of the re-absorption layer in the semi-empirical model on pressure rise is concentrated on. The results show that the re-absorption effect in the low-temperature region affects radiation transfer of fault arcs evidently, and thus the internal pressure rise. Compared with the NEC model, P1 and the semi-empirical model with 0.7 〈 α 〈 0.83 are more suitable to calculate the pressure rise of the fault arc, where is an adjusted parameter involving the boundary temperature of the re-absorption region in the semi-empirical model. 展开更多

When load is applied to bone,it deforms and causes fluid pressure to build up in bone. The pressure gradient between different portions of the bone microcnannels drives fluid flow through them. This kind of bone fluid flow can induces the streaming potentials which are considered to play a role for bone remodeling.Aimed to determine the impact of ribbed rough inner surfaces of the microchannels on the streaming potentials, streaming potentials were measured as bone fluid flowed through the mcrospaces of thin cylinder bone samples under different pressure loading rates. The results show that the streaming potentials decrease with the increase of the pressure loading rates.A digital simulation calculation was performed and the results demonstrated that there were turbulent flows near the inner wall surfaces, which making the streaming potentials smaller in bone microchannels. 展开更多

Accurate prediction of the aerodynamic response of a compressor under inlet distortion is crucial for next-generation civil aircraft, such as Boundary Layer Ingestion(BLI)silent aircraft. Therefore, research on the Body Force(BF)model plays a significant role in achieving this objective. However, distorted inlet airflow can lead to varying operating conditions across different spatial locations of the compressor, which may cause some regions to operate outside the stability boundary.Consequently, the accuracy of BF model simulations might be compromised. To address this issue, this paper proposes a numerical simulation strategy for acquiring the steady axisymmetric three-dimensional flow field of a compressor operating at low mass flow rates, which is known as the Underlying Axisymmetric Pressure Rise Characteristic(UAPRC).The proposed simulation accounts for two different rotor speeds of a transonic compressor and identifies initial positions in the flow field where deterioration occurs based on prior experimental investigations. Moreover, simulation results are incorporated into the BF model to replicate hub instability observed in experiments.Obtained results demonstrate that this strategy provides valid predictions of the UAPRC of the compressor, thereby addressing the limitations associated with the BF model. 展开更多

With the improvement of requirement, design and manufacture technology,aero-engines for the future are characterized by further reduction in fuel consumption, cost, but increment in propulsion efficiency, which leads to ultra-high bypass ratio. The intermediate turbine duct(ITD),which connects the high pressure turbine(HPT) with the low pressure turbine(LPT),has a critical impact on the overall performances of such future engines. Therefore,it becomes more and more urgent to master the design technique of aggressive, even super-aggressive ITDs.Over the last years,a lot of research works about the flow mechanism in the diffuser ducts were carried out. Many achievements were reported, but further investigation should be performed. With the aid of numerical method, this paper focuses on the change of performance and flow field of ITD,as well as nearby turbines, brought by rising angle(RA).Eight ITDs with the same area ratio and length, but different RAs ranges from 8 degrees to 45 degrees, are compared.According to the investigation, flow field, especially outlet Ma of swirl blade is influenced by RA under potential effect, which is advisable for designers to modify HPT rotor blades after changing ITD.In addition to that, low velocity area moves towards upstream until the first bend as RA increases, while pressure loss distribution at S2 stream surface shows that hub boundary layer is more sensitive to RA,and casing layer keeps almost constant. On the other hand, the overall total pressure loss could keep nearly equivalent among different RA cases, which implies the importance of optimization. 展开更多

In the recent past, experimental studies have shown some advantages of blade lean and sweep in axial compressors. As most of the experimental results are combined with other features, it is difficult to determine the effect of individual parameters on the performance of the compressor. The present numerical studies are aimed at understanding the performance and three-dimensional flow pattern at the exit of swept and unswept rotors. Three rotors, namely; unswept, 200 forward swept and 200 backward swept rotors are analysed with a specific intention of understanding the pattern of the blade boundary layer flow. The analysis was done using a fully three-dimensional viscous CFD code CFX-5. Results indicated reduction in pressure rise with sweep. Backward sweep is detrimental as far as the performance near endwalls is considered. On the other hand total pressure loss in the wake in mid span region is less with backward sweep, which favours its application here. However, backward sweep adversely affects the stall margin. The ability of the forward sweep to deflect the streamlines towards hub gets diminished at low flow rates. Forward sweep changes the streamline pattern in such a way that the suction surface streamlines are deflected towards the hub and the pressure surface streamlines are deflected towards the easing. An opposite behaviour is observed in backward swept rotors. 展开更多
