Environmental complaint insights through text mining based on the driver,pressure,state,impact,and response(DPSIR)framework:Evidence from an Italian environmental agency

Individuals,local communities,environmental associations,private organizations,and public representatives and bodies may all be aggrieved by environmental problems concerning poor air quality,illegal waste disposal,water contamination,and general pollution.Environmental complaints represent the expressions of dissatisfaction with these issues.As the timeconsuming of managing a large number of complaints,text mining may be useful for automatically extracting information on stakeholder priorities and concerns.The paper used text mining and semantic network analysis to crawl relevant keywords about environmental complaints from two online complaint submission systems:online claim submission system of Regional Agency for Prevention,Environment and Energy(Arpae)(“Contact Arpae”);and Arpae's internal platform for environmental pollution(“Environmental incident reporting portal”)in the Emilia-Romagna Region,Italy.We evaluated the total of 2477 records and classified this information based on the claim topic(air pollution,water pollution,noise pollution,waste,odor,soil,weather-climate,sea-coast,and electromagnetic radiation)and geographical distribution.Then,this paper used natural language processing to extract keywords from the dataset,and classified keywords ranking higher in Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency(TF-IDF)based on the driver,pressure,state,impact,and response(DPSIR)framework.This study provided a systemic approach to understanding the interaction between people and environment in different geographical contexts and builds sustainable and healthy communities.The results showed that most complaints are from the public and associated with air pollution and odor.Factories(particularly foundries and ceramic industries)and farms are identified as the drivers of environmental issues.Citizen believed that environmental issues mainly affect human well-being.Moreover,the keywords of“odor”,“report”,“request”,“presence”,“municipality”,and“hours”were the most influential and meaningful concepts,as demonstrated by their high degree and betweenness centrality values.Keywords connecting odor(classified as impacts)and air pollution(classified as state)were the most important(such as“odor-burnt plastic”and“odor-acrid”).Complainants perceived odor annoyance as a primary environmental concern,possibly related to two main drivers:“odor-factory”and“odorsfarms”.The proposed approach has several theoretical and practical implications:text mining may quickly and efficiently address citizen needs,providing the basis toward automating(even partially)the complaint process;and the DPSIR framework might support the planning and organization of information and the identification of stakeholder concerns and priorities,as well as metrics and indicators for their assessment.Therefore,integration of the DPSIR framework with the text mining of environmental complaints might generate a comprehensive environmental knowledge base as a prerequisite for a wider exploitation of analysis to support decision-making processes and environmental management activities. 展开更多

Partially submerged deposit slopes are o ften encountered in practical engineering applications.Howeve r,studies on evaluating their stability under seismic loading are still rare.In order to understand the seismic behavior of partially submerged deposit slopes,centrifuge shaking table model tests(50 g) were employed.The responses of horizontal accelerations,accumulated excess pore pressures,deformation mode,and failure mode of the partially submerged deposit slope model were analyzed.In dynamic centrifuge model tests,EQ5 shaking event was applied numerically.The results indicated that in the saturated zone of the deposit slope,liquefaction did not occur,and the measured horizontal accelerations near the water table were amplified as a layer-magnification effect.It was also shown that the liquefaction-resistance of the deposit slope increased under multiple sequential ground motions,and the deformation depth of the deposit slope induced by earthquake increased gradually with increasing dynamic Ioad amplitude.Except for the excessive crest settlement generated by strong shaking,an additional vertical permanent displacement was initiated at the slope crest due to the dissipation of excess pore pressure under seismic loading.The result of particle image velocimetry(PIV) analysis showed that an obvious internal arc-slip was generated around the water table of the partially submerged deposit slope under seismic loading. 展开更多

The coal mining process is afected by various water sources such as groundwater and coal seam water injection.Understanding the dynamic mechanical parameters of water-immersed coal is helpful for coalmine safe production.The impact compression tests were performed on coal with diferent moisture contents by using theϕ50 mm Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar(SHPB)experimental system,and the dynamic characteristics and energy loss laws of water-immersed coal with diferent compositions and water contents were analyzed.Through analysis and discussion,it is found that:(1)When the moisture content of the coal sample is 0%,30%,60%,the stress,strain rate and energy frst increase and then decrease with time.(2)When the moisture content of the coal sample increases from 30%to 60%,the stress“plateau”of the coal sample becomes more obvious,resulting in an increase in the compressive stress stage and a decrease in the expansion stress stage.(3)The increase of moisture content of the coal sample will afect its impact deformation and failure mode.When the moisture content is 60%,the incident rod end and the transmission rod end of the coal sample will have obvious compression failure,and the middle part of the coal sample will also experience expansion and deformation.(4)The coal composition ratio suitable for the coal immersion softening impact experiment is optimized. 展开更多

The self-consistent fluid variational model (SFVM) has been used to describe the pressure dissociation of dense hydrogen at high temperatures. This paper focuses on a mixture of hydrogen atoms and molecules and is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of pressure dissociation at finite temperatures. The equation of state and dissociation degree have been calculated from the free energy functions in the range of temperature 2000-10,000K and density 0.02-1.0g/cm^3, which can be compared with other approaches and experiments. The pressure dissociation is found to occur in higher density range, while temperature dissociation is a more gradual effect. 展开更多

The current design philosophy for submarine hulls,in the preliminary design stage,generally considers as governing limit states material yielding along with various buckling modes.It is common belief that,beyond the design pressure,material yielding of the shell plating should occur first,eventually followed by local buckling,while global buckling currently retains the highest safety factor.On the other hand,in the aeronautical field,in some cases structural components are designed in such a way that local instability may occur within the design loads,being the phenomena inside the material elastic range and not leading to a significant drop in term of stiffness.This paper is aimed at investigating the structural response beyond a set of selected limit states,using nonlinear FE method adopting different initial imperfection models,to provide the designers with new information useful for calibrating safety factors.It was found that both local and global buckling can be considered as ultimate limit states,with a significant sensitivity towards initial imperfection,while material yielding and tripping buckling of frames show a residual structural capacity.In conclusion,it was found that the occurrence of local buckling leads to similar sudden catastrophic consequences as global buckling,with the ultimate strength capacity highly affected by the initial imperfection shape and amplitude. 展开更多

In this model, as a convolution response with non-parabolic symmetry, Δn2 (I)≈ρ(b0+ b1f - b2 f^2 with b2/b1 〉 0 is assumed. Furthermore, instead of the wave function Ψ, the high-order nonlinear equation for the beam intensity distribution f has been derived and the bell-shaped soliton solution with the envelope form has been obtained. The results demonstrate that, since the existence of the terms of non-parabolic response, the nonlocal spatial soliton has the bistable state solution. If the frequency shift of wave number β satisfies 0 〈 4(β - ρbo/μ) 〈 3η0/8α, the bistable state soliton solution is stable against perturbation. It should be emphasized that the soliton solution arising from a parabolic-symmetry response kernel is trivial. The sufficient condition for the existence of bistable state soliton solution b2/b1〉 0 has been demonstrated. 展开更多

This article, in order to improve the assembly of the high-pressure spool, presents an assembly variation identification method achieved by response surface method (RSM)-based model updating using IV-optimal designs. The method involves screening out non-relevant assembly parameters using IV-optimal designs and the preload of the joints is chosen as the input features and modal frequency is the only response feature. Emphasis is placed on the construction of response surface models including the interactions between the bolted joints by which the non-linear relationship between the assembly variation caused by the changes ofpreload and the output frequency variation is established. By achieving an optimal process of selected variables in the model, assembly variation can be identified. With a case study of the laboratory bolted disks as an example, the proposed method is verified and it gives enough accuracy in variation identification. It has been observed that the first-order response surface models considering the interactions between the bolted joints based on the IV-optimal criterion are adequate for assembly purposes. 展开更多

A new horn failure mechanism was constructed for tunnel faces in the soft rock mass by means of the logarithmic spiral curve. The seismic action was incorporated into the horn failure mechanism using the pseudo-static method. Considering the randomness of rock mass parameters and loads, a three-dimensional (3D) stochastic collapse model was established. Reliability analysis of seismic stability of tunnel faces was presented via the kinematical approach and the response surface method. The results show that, the reliability of tunnel faces is significantly affected by the supporting pressure, geological strength index, uniaxial compressive strength, rock bulk density and seismic forces. It is worth noting that, if the effect of seismic force was not considered, the stability of tunnel faces would be obviously overestimated. However, the correlation between horizontal and vertical seismic forces can be ignored under the condition of low calculation accuracy. 展开更多

In the Report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,it stated that we must put the ecological safety and green development in the first place.To achieve rural revitalization,ecological livability is the most important factor.Taking Luquan Yi and Miao Autonomous County(national level poor county)in Jinsha River valley of Yunnan Province as an example,using DPSIR(drivers,pressures,states,impacts,responses)model,this paper established an evaluation indicator system.Besides,using the entropy method,it determined the indicator weight.In addition,it evaluated the land ecological security of Luquan County since the implementation of targeted poverty alleviation policy(2013-2017)using multi-factor comprehensive evaluation method.This study shows that Luquan County has improved its ecological security in the past five years.The ecological status has gone through four stages,from sensitive state to severe state to critical safety to excellent ecology,and the value of the comprehensive index of land ecological security shows a rising trend.Through analyzing the ecological security value of each criterion hierarchy,it obtained the main factors affecting the ecological security of Luquan County.On this basis,it came up with feasible measures and recommendations for studying the ecological security of land in the region,so as to guide the rational use of land and sustainable economic development,provide a reference for the implementation of rural revitalization strategies,and promote the construction of regional ecological civilization. 展开更多

Cubic equation-of-state solid models are one of the most widely used models to predict asphaltene precipitation behavior.Thermodynamic parameters are needed to model precipitation under different pressures and temperatures and are usually obtained through tuning with multi asphaltene onset experiments.For the purpose of enhancing the cubic Peng–Robinson solid model and reducing its dependency on asphaltene experiments,this paper tests the use of aromatics and waxes correlations to obtain these thermodynamic parameters.In addition,weighted averages between both correlations are introduced.The averaging is based on reported saturates,aromatics,resins,asphaltene(SARA)fractions,and wax content.All the methods are tested on four oil samples,with previously published data,covering precipitation and onset experiments.The proposed wax-asphaltene average showed the best match with experimental data,followed by a SARA-weighted average.This new addition enhances the model predictability and agrees with the general molecular structure of asphaltene molecules. 展开更多

Choosing Zink's analytical potential as initial potential, we have solved the Dirac-Slater equation which satisfies the Weigner-Seitz boundary condition. The electronic energy bands are not taken into account. Tak- ing energy level degeneracy as a continuous function of density, we have considered the pressure ionization effects for highly dense matter. Results for ^(13)Al atom are shown. 展开更多

Studies show that the dynamic properties of rockfill are strongly dependent on the confining pressure.Therefore,confining pressure effect has become a very important factor in the seismic analysis of high rockfill dam.The relationships of dynamic shear modulus versus dynamic shear strain and damping ratio versus dynamic shear strain had been improved to a certain degree on the basic of widely used Hardin-Drnevich constitutive model in this paper.Then a new model that could consider confining pressure effect has been established.Regression analysis was carried out of the dynamic triaxial experimental data of the damming materials in the Changheba hydropower station of Sichun Province,China.The results show that,the new model can fit the test data well under various confining pressures.A corresponding computational procedure was compiled and applied in the dynamic response analysis of the Changheba Dam.Comparing the calculation results between the new constitutive model and the ordinary Hardin-Drnevich model,it can be seen that the result is conservative to some extent without considering confining pressure effect. 展开更多

The wave-seabed interaction issue is of great importance for the design of foundation around marine infrastructures. Most previous investigations for such a problem have been limited to uncoupled or one- way coupled methods connecting two separated wave and seabed sub models with the continuity of pressures at the seabed surface. In this study, a strongly coupled model was proposed to realize both wave and seabed processes in a same program and to calculate the wave fields and seabed response simultaneously. The information between wave fields and seabed fields were strongly shared and thus results in a more profound investigation of the mechanism of the wave-seabed interaction. In this letter, the wave and seabed models were validated with previous experimental tests. Then, a set of application of present model were discussed in prediction of the wave-induced seabed response. Numerical results show the wave-induced liquefaction area of coupled model is smaller than that of uncoupled model. 展开更多

The following results can be drawn fromthe experiments: only 1 percent shrinkage happened in the stack direction and it came from theregular system error. The atoms diffuse between joint interfaces clearly and new grains formedmeanwhile. The average shear strength of welding zone is more than 100 MPa and micro hardness ofwelding zone is almost the same as that of matrix. It is shown from above results that the vacuumsolid-state pressure diffusion welding process is an available technique to join metal slice sheetsfor the rapid manufacturing of metallic functional parts. 展开更多

山区地质复杂、环境敏感、生态脆弱,致使铁路隧道建设难度大,且在资源节约、环境保护等方面面临较高要求。绿色设计作为绿色建设的先行环节,对减少隧道建设对资源环境的扰动作用,达到资源节约、环境友好的目的起关键引领作用。为定量评... 山区地质复杂、环境敏感、生态脆弱,致使铁路隧道建设难度大,且在资源节约、环境保护等方面面临较高要求。绿色设计作为绿色建设的先行环节,对减少隧道建设对资源环境的扰动作用,达到资源节约、环境友好的目的起关键引领作用。为定量评估山区铁路隧道工程的资源环境影响效应、衡量隧道设计的绿色程度,提出一种山区铁路隧道工程资源环境影响效应分析方法。首先,基于“驱动力-状态-响应”模型(Driving force-State-Response,DSR),以隧道设计参数为驱动力指标、资源环境状况为状态指标、隧道设计措施为响应指标,构建山区铁路隧道工程资源环境影响效应评估指标体系,并建立各指标分级标准;其次,运用一种具有自学习自调整能力的支持向量回归模型(Support Vector Regression,SVR)对隧道工程的资源环境影响效应进行评估;再次,以驱动力指标和响应指标为分析对象,运用考虑指标间关联关系及叠加效应的敏感性分析法,甄别对隧道工程资源环境影响效应优化具有重要影响的隧道设计因素;最后,以某山区铁路隧道工程为例,得到该隧道工程的资源环境影响效应值为4.7157,对应等级为较好,表明该隧道工程绿色设计水平较好,资源集约节约利用较合理、环境保护力度较大,可为其他类似工况隧道工程的绿色设计提供借鉴。此外,分析结果显示,注浆加固效果是导致该隧道工程资源环境影响效应变化最敏感的因素,其次为清污分流比例,可着重从这2个方面进行优化设计,以实现隧道工程资源环境影响效应的进一步优化。研究结果验证了本文研究方法的适用性和可操作性,可为山区铁路隧道工程资源环境影响效应评估及明确隧道工程优化设计方向提供科学依据。 展开更多

The method of multiple scales is used to determine the steady-state response. The modulation equation is derived from the solvability condition of eliminating secular terms. Closed-form expressions of the amplitude and existence condition of nontrivial steady-state response are derived from the modulation equation. 山地城镇洪涝滑坡灾害韧性评估研究

为实现对山地城镇灾害韧性的有效评估,以受洪灾-滑坡灾害链影响的中国典型山地城镇重庆市主城都市区为研究区,基于城市灾害韧性的内涵特征和作用机理,结合“压力-状态-响应”模型的因果逻辑,在多源数据收集分析的基础上,构建承载洪涝、... 为实现对山地城镇灾害韧性的有效评估,以受洪灾-滑坡灾害链影响的中国典型山地城镇重庆市主城都市区为研究区,基于城市灾害韧性的内涵特征和作用机理,结合“压力-状态-响应”模型的因果逻辑,在多源数据收集分析的基础上,构建承载洪涝、滑坡灾害韧性评估指标体系。采用机器学习方法评估滑坡压力韧性,采用主客观组合权重分析及VIKOR法评估洪涝压力韧性和状态-响应韧性,采用秩和比综合评价法构建综合韧性评估模型,度量城市灾害韧性水平,划分韧性等级,分析评估结果。结果表明:(1)研究区西部与西北部滑坡压力韧性高,中部滑坡压力韧性处于中等水平,南部与东北部滑坡压力韧性低;(2)研究区中部洪涝压力韧性水平较低,而研究区东部和西部洪涝压力韧性普遍较高,整体呈现外圈高内圈低的态势,其中位于研究区东南部的南川区是洪涝压力韧性最高的区;(3)重庆市核心城区的渝中区是状态-响应韧性最高的区,整体的状态-响应韧性空间分布呈现出一种明显的中心至外围递减趋势;(4)综合韧性的空间分布没有明显的特征,但研究区普遍存在一个行政区会出现多种不同韧性等级的情况,体现了各阶段韧性发展的不平衡。 展开更多

为研究非静水压条件下煤体动力学性能及动力扰动后卸荷破坏特征,在三维动静加载实验的基础上,研究了卸荷方式对动力扰动后卸荷煤样宏观破坏特性的影响。首先,采用Ф50 mm的分离式霍普金森压杆系统,开展三维动静加载下煤样的动力学实验,... 为研究非静水压条件下煤体动力学性能及动力扰动后卸荷破坏特征,在三维动静加载实验的基础上,研究了卸荷方式对动力扰动后卸荷煤样宏观破坏特性的影响。首先,采用Ф50 mm的分离式霍普金森压杆系统,开展三维动静加载下煤样的动力学实验,研究轴压、应变率对煤样动力学响应规律的影响;其次,基于响应曲面理论,借助中心复合试验法,构建考虑因素交互作用的回归模型,并分析单因素及因素交互作用的显著性;然后,结合因素交互作用、Weibull分布、Drucker-Prager准则,修正煤的强度型统计损伤本构模型,对比理论与实验结果,验证模型可靠性;最后,借助加卸荷电液伺服装置,探究轴压、冲击气压、卸荷方式对煤样破坏特征的影响及作用机制。结果表明,构建的强度型统计损伤模型,相关系数R~2≥0.88,可表征煤样动力学响应行为。冲击后同步卸荷的煤样多呈层裂破坏,拉伸界面随轴压增大而后移直至消失,无法形成层裂破坏;非同步卸荷下煤样破坏形式主要包括整体完整、层裂、压剪破坏,而当冲击气压0.4~0.6 MPa,轴压14.5 MPa时,表现为“层裂+压剪”混合破坏。 展开更多

Stochastic Modeling and Power Control of Time-Varying Wireless Communication Networks

Wireless networks are characterized by nodes mobility, which makes the propagation environment time-varying and subject to fading. As a consequence, the statistical characteristics of the received signal vary continuously, giving rise to a Doppler power spectral density (DPSD) that varies from one observation instant to the next. This paper is concerned with dynamical modeling of time-varying wireless fading channels, their estimation and parameter identification, and optimal power control from received signal measurement data. The wireless channel is characterized using a stochastic state-space form and derived by approximating the time-varying DPSD of the channel. The expected maximization and Kalman filter are employed to recursively identify and estimate the channel parameters and states, respectively, from online received signal strength measured data. Moreover, we investigate a centralized optimal power control algorithm based on predictable strategies and employing the estimated channel parameters and states. The proposed models together with the estimation and power control algorithms are tested using experimental measurement data and the results are presented. 展开更多

热室辐照环境中的各类型射线会严重影响电子元件的服役寿命,因此目前多采用气动位置传感器来替代,其将感知及信号处理部分分别置于辐照环境和热室绿区来提高传感器的可靠性。由于气体的可压缩性,气动位置传感器存在信号反馈滞后现象。... 热室辐照环境中的各类型射线会严重影响电子元件的服役寿命,因此目前多采用气动位置传感器来替代,其将感知及信号处理部分分别置于辐照环境和热室绿区来提高传感器的可靠性。由于气体的可压缩性,气动位置传感器存在信号反馈滞后现象。为了改善上述问题,分析了气动位置传感器的流量特性,建立了管道内流场数值模型并采用特征线法进行求解,构建了传感器压力响应预测模型,推导得到滞后量,并基于此提出了补偿策略。最后搭建了气动位置传感器响应检测平台,验证了预测模型及滞后补偿策略的有效性,结果表明:补偿后的位置相对预期值最大差值在0.5 mm以内,能够满足工程应用要求。 展开更多
