There are a plethora of empirical pieces about employees’pro-environmental behaviors.However,the extant literature has either ignored or not fully examined various factors(e.g.,negative or positive non-green workplace factors)that might affect employees’pro-environmental behaviors.Realizing these voids,the present paper proposes and tests a serial mediation model that examines the interrelationships of job insecurity,emotional exhaustion,met expectations,and proactive pro-environmental behavior.We used data gathered from hotel customer-contact employees with a time lag of one week and their direct supervisors in China.After presenting support for the psychometric properties of the measures via confirmatory analysis in LISREL 8.30,the abovementioned linkages were gauged using the PROCESS plug-in for statistical package for social sciences.The findings delineated support for the hypothesized associations.Specifically,emotional exhaustion and met expectations partly mediated the effect of job insecurity on proactive pro-environmental behavior.More importantly,emotional exhaustion and met expectations serially mediated the influence of job insecurity on proactive pro-environmental behavior.These findings have important theoretical implications as well as significant implications for diminishing job insecurity,managing emotional exhaustion,increasing met expectations,and enhancing ecofriendly behaviors. 展开更多

Pro-Environmental Civic Participation in the USA: The Effects of Social Media, Pro-Environmental Lifestyle and Climate Experiences

This study addresses the link between social media use and pro-environmental civic participation considering the moderating effect of social media affordances (public realm) on one hand, and lifestyle behaviors and climate change experiences (personal realm) on the other. We combine communication theory and behavioral models and using a sample of USA individuals (N = 7225) based on the American Trends Panel to predict variations in pro-environmental behavior. We show that social networks rather than information are more effective in predicting pro-environmental behavior. Moreover, a pro-environmental lifestyle as well as climate change experiences at the community level increase the likelihood for pro-environmental participation. However, affordances related to socioeconomic variations generate variations to pro-environmental civic participation. We conclude that in order to capture the depth of pro-environmental civic participation, it is necessary to theoretically and empirically bridge between private and public expressions of pro-environmental awareness. 展开更多

From the perspective of regulatory focus theory,the influencing mechanism of pro-environmental behaviors(PEBs)in the private domain on behaviors in the public domain were analyzed by revealing the mediating ef‐fect of the status quo maintenance and the moderating effect of the prevention focus orientation.The study re‐sults show that PEBs in the private domain significantly promote individuals’PEBs in the public domain.The status quo maintenance partially mediates the relationship between PEBs in the private and public domains.Specifically,individuals with a high-level prevention focus orientation strengthen the relationship between the PEBs in the private domain and the status quo maintenance,and that of the PEBs in the public domain.There‐fore,individuals with a high-level prevention focus will more likely engage in subsequent PEBs in the public domain after their initial PEBs in the private domain due to their increased status quo maintenance degree.Policymakers and practitioners should pay attention to the prevention-repetition effect and use the PEBs in the private domain to promote those in the public domain. 展开更多

This study analyzes the misperceptions of the Chinese public about air pollution levels and other potential predictors of participation in pro-environmental behaviors based on the 2013 Chinese General Social Survey(CGSS).In this paper,misperception is defined as the difference between subjective perceptions of air pollution and measurements through objective monitoring.We find that pessimistic respondents are more likely to participate in pro-environmental behaviors.The media use and evaluation of the environmental performance of the local government significantly stimulate pro-environmental participation.The results reveal that knowledge and concern about the environment can mitigate the negative effect of optimistic bias on pro-environmental behaviors.In regions where environmental information is widely available,environmental pessimists are especially more likely to participate in such activities.This finding suggests that the government should provide not only accurate information about environmental pollution but also relevant education to enhance the environmental awareness of the public and stimulate pro-environmental participation. 展开更多

Hanoi’s rapid urbanization has led to a surge in private vehicle ownership, particularly motorcycles, amidst inadequate public transportation infrastructure. Despite government efforts, many still prefer motorized transport, citing mobility and safety concerns, exacerbated by insufficient pedestrian infrastructure. This study examines the motivations behind this reliance on motorized vehicles, particularly motorcycles, in Hanoi. Findings reveal safety and convenience as primary factors driving motorized transport use, especially for accessing bus stations. Economic incentives could promote non-motorized travel and public transport adoption. Policy implications highlight the importance of addressing economic factors and improving access infrastructure to manage motorized vehicle reliance and foster sustainable urban mobility in Hanoi. 展开更多

This study aims to investigate the influence of social media on college choice among undergraduates majoring in Big Data Management and Application in China.The study attempts to reveal how information on social media platforms such as Weibo,WeChat,and Zhihu influences the cognition and choice process of prospective students.By employing an online quantitative survey questionnaire,data were collected from the 2022 and 2023 classes of new students majoring in Big Data Management and Application at Guilin University of Electronic Technology.The aim was to evaluate the role of social media in their college choice process and understand the features and information that most attract prospective students.Social media has become a key factor influencing the college choice decision-making of undergraduates majoring in Big Data Management and Application in China.Students tend to obtain school information through social media platforms and use this information as an important reference in their decision-making process.Higher education institutions should strengthen their social media information dissemination,providing accurate,timely,and attractive information.It is also necessary to ensure effective management of social media platforms,maintain a positive reputation for the school on social media,and increase the interest and trust of prospective students.Simultaneously,educational decision-makers should consider incorporating social media analysis into their recruitment strategies to better attract new student enrollment.This study provides a new perspective for understanding higher education choice behavior in the digital age,particularly by revealing the importance of social media in the educational decision-making process.This has important practical and theoretical implications for higher education institutions,policymakers,and social media platform operators. 展开更多

In order to improve the use efficiency of curb parking, a reasonable curb parking pricing is evaluated by considering individual parking choice behavior. The parking choice behavior is analyzed from micro-aspects, and the choice behavior utility function is established combining trip time, search time, waiting time, access time and parking fee. By the utility function, a probit-based parking choice behavior model is constructed. On the basis of these, the curb parking pricing model is deduced by considering the constrained conditions, and an incremental assignment algorithm of the model is also designed. Finally, the model is applied to the parking planning of Tongling city. It is pointed out that the average parking time of curb parking decreases 34%, and the average turnover rate increases 67% under the computed parking price system. The results show that the model can optimize the utilization of static traffic facilities. 展开更多

Considering the interlayer height, luggage, the difference between queuing pedestrians, and walking speed, the pedestrian choice model of vertical walking facilities is established based on a support vector machine. This model is verified with the pedestrian flow data of Changchun light-rail transfer station and Beijing Xizhimen transfer station. Adding the pedestrian choice model of vertical walking facilities into the pedestrian simulation model which is based on cellular automata, the pedestrian choice behavior is simulated. In the simulation, the effects of the dynamic influence factors are analyzed. To reduce the conflicts between pedestrians in opposite directions, the layout of vertical walking facilities is improved. The simulations indicate that the improved layout of vertical walking facilities can improve the efficiency of pedestrians passing. 展开更多

Among other </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">services, Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) like Uber and Lyft</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;"> emer</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">ged in the US as a transportation alternative that offered a higher level of</span> <span style="font-family:Verdana;">availability, reliability, and convenience than traditional modes. However,</span> <span style="font-family:Verdana;">TNCs deployment was also blamed for increases in vehicle miles traveled</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;"> (VMT) in large cities that embraced TNC services early on. Concerns about TNC adoption are also magnified by the current controversy in policy and legislation as to the regulation of TNCs. These new realizations create a need to examine the transportation users’ attitudes and perceptions regarding ride-hailing service, after nearly a decade of service in the Unites States market. In doing so, this paper compares and contrasts results from two recently completed studies aiming at creating links between socio-demographic factors and TNC use. The paper describes the methods employed to collect the data and presents findings from the analysis of 790 users’ responses in the Birmingham, AL and Miami Beach, FL markets. The study documents preferences and attitudes toward TNCs and highlights similarities and differences in travel behaviors related to local considerations. Moreover, the study uses the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (Lasso) method to identify predictors for TNC use based on the users’ responses in Birmingham and Miami Beach case studies. Vehicle availability and waiting time emerged as t</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">he only significant predictors for the Birmingham region whereas vehicl</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">e ownership, vehicle use, residency, and prior use of transit and TNC where some of the predictors identified for the Miami Beach area. Recently,the LCCs(low cost carriers)using ICN(Incheon International Airport)as a hub have increased their international routes.In addition,foreign nationality airlines,including Middle Eastern carriers,have gradually increased their operations at ICN.This growth in carrier services has resulted in a more competitive market environment,and reasonable resource assignment has become an important issue for airport operators.Moreover,the airport will open a new terminal—T2(terminal 2)in early 2018,and carriers will need to adjust their operations reflecting the utilization of newly assigned facilities.Motivated by this change,we investigate the differentiation of airport service perception as well as airline choice behavior by passenger groups at ICN.This paper employs a MNL(multinomial logit)model as well as a SEM(structural equation model).The results indicate that airline gate allocation is a significantly important value for passengers in terms of airport service perception and choice behavior.Passenger perception and choice behavior differ according to the selected carrier.This study concludes that it is significantly important to consider the characteristics of passenger perception and choice behavior to improve airport operational efficiency,particularly with respect to carrier facility assignment. 展开更多

This study analyzes air passenger route choice behavior for long-haul inter-continental travel. It employs the SP (state preference) technique and logit modeling to investigate the impact of route development via neighboring countries in the region. With the Japanese government pursuing an increase in international routes at Haneda International Airport, and the Chinese government planning to construct Beijing Capital Second International Airport by 2019, the competition among airports to serve as hubs in Northeast Asia will increase significantly. Korean passengers will have a greater number of route choices when traveling to North America or Europe, utilizing not only direct flights from Incheon International Airport but also flights via Tokyo or Beijing area airports including Haneda International Airport, Narita International Airport, Beijing Capital International Airport and Beijing Capital Second International Airport. Accordingly, passengers will choose among the alternatives by considering fares and flight times. As such, it is essential for airports to offer flights with competitive prices for transit passengers to become successful competitive airports in the region. Therefore, it will become more important for market decision makers to strive toward more attractive ticket prices and better route network quality. 展开更多

传统收益管理假设旅客需求是独立的,未能充分考虑到旅客的选择行为,本文讨论了考虑旅客选择行为的收益管理问题和机型指派联合优化问题。根据对历史销售数据的观察,发现旅客对最低价舱位具有特殊偏好,因此本文利用尖峰多项Logit (spiked... 传统收益管理假设旅客需求是独立的,未能充分考虑到旅客的选择行为,本文讨论了考虑旅客选择行为的收益管理问题和机型指派联合优化问题。根据对历史销售数据的观察,发现旅客对最低价舱位具有特殊偏好,因此本文利用尖峰多项Logit (spiked multinomial logit, Spiked-MNL)选择模型来预测旅客潜在真实需求,并以航空公司利润最大化为目标,构建考虑旅客选择行为的收益管理和机型指派联合模型。本研究利用某航空公司的实际销售交易数据进行算例分析,验证所提出的模型的可行性,并通过在不同场景下的比较来评估模型的性能。结果显示,在比较联合模型和独立模型的利润时,联合模型的平均利润高出5%;在不同机队规模的比较中,5机型联合模型产生的利润最高,其平均利润比3机型高出6.6%,比9机型高出7.3%。此外,与以往关于利用旅客选择模型预测旅客需求的方法相比,Spiked-MNL模型能够更准确地反映旅客的实际购买行为,其平均利润比广义吸引力模型(generalized attraction model, GAM)高出0.7%,比多项Logit (multinomial logit, MNL)模型高出1.2%。 展开更多

基于有限理性的前景理论构建了旅客出行方式选择模型,通过对某景区旅游者的个人信息、出行基本情况以及出行意向进行了调查分析,揭示出其出行行为的特点。并且进一步运用前景理论研究旅游者的出行方式选择行为,在完全理性和有限理性的... 基于有限理性的前景理论构建了旅客出行方式选择模型,通过对某景区旅游者的个人信息、出行基本情况以及出行意向进行了调查分析,揭示出其出行行为的特点。并且进一步运用前景理论研究旅游者的出行方式选择行为,在完全理性和有限理性的条件下分别计算了各异质类旅客对不同客运方式的模糊选择概率。在此基础上,建立了基于有限理性作用下旅客个体出行决策的模型,得出了各异质类旅客对不同客运方式的出行偏好。通过比较不同类型旅客的出行偏好,可分析出高收入和务工旅客更倾向于驾车出行,而学生游客更倾向于乘坐大巴。相关研究的结论对于旅游景区周边交通设施的规划和建设有一定的指导意义,可更好地服务和满足游客的出行需求。 展开更多

单车规范停放问题影响着共享单车系统的可持续发展,而设置电子围栏是促进单车停放规范化的重要手段。用户在电子围栏背景下规范停车行为的影响机理是制定停放管理政策的基础。基于用户停车选择行为问卷调查的结果,在二项Logit模型的基础... 单车规范停放问题影响着共享单车系统的可持续发展,而设置电子围栏是促进单车停放规范化的重要手段。用户在电子围栏背景下规范停车行为的影响机理是制定停放管理政策的基础。基于用户停车选择行为问卷调查的结果,在二项Logit模型的基础上,结合调查数据特征建立固定效应选择模型、非对称选择模型等多个停车行为选择模型,探究各类特征对用户停车行为的影响。结果显示,用户的年龄、职业、收入等社会经济特征,用户在平常使用共享单车的时段、时长、频率及停放困难频率等共享单车出行特征,具体在停车场景下合规停放的绕行距离和违规停放的罚款金额等场景特征,均会显著影响用户合规停放的概率。模型结果可为电子围栏背景下的精细化管理提供用户行为定量分析基础。 展开更多
