Deep shale reservoirs are characterized by elevated breakdown pressures,diminished fracture complexity,and reduced modified volumes compared to medium and shallow reservoirs.Therefore,it is urgent to investigate parti...Deep shale reservoirs are characterized by elevated breakdown pressures,diminished fracture complexity,and reduced modified volumes compared to medium and shallow reservoirs.Therefore,it is urgent to investigate particular injection strategies that can optimize breakdown pressure and fracturing efficiency to address the increasing demands for deep shale reservoir stimulation.In this study,the efficiency of various stimulation strategies,including multi-cluster simultaneous fracturing,modified alternating fracturing,alternating shut-in fracturing,and cyclic alternating fracturing,was evaluated.Subsequently,the sensitivity of factors such as the cycle index,shut-in time,cluster spacing,and horizontal permeability was investigated.Additionally,the flow distribution effect within the wellbore was discussed.The results indicate that relative to multi-cluster simultaneous fracturing,modified alternating fracturing exhibits reduced susceptibility to the stress shadow effect,which results in earlier breakdown,extended hydraulic fracture lengths,and more consistent propagation despite an increase in breakdown pressure.The alternating shut-in fracturing benefits the increase of fracture length,which is closely related to the shut-in time.Furthermore,cyclic alternating fracturing markedly lowers breakdown pressure and contributes to uniform fracture propagation,in which the cycle count plays an important role.Modified alternating fracturing demonstrates insensitivity to variations in cluster spacing,whereas horizontal permeability is a critical factor affecting fracture length.The wellbore effect restrains the accumulation of pressure and flow near the perforation,delaying the initiation of hydraulic fractures.The simulation results can provide valuable numerical insights for optimizing injection strategies for deep shale hydraulic fracturing.展开更多

The quality standards for Fructus Comi have been established based on the effects of the manufacturing processes.Three critical process parameters(CPPs)of extraction,filtration,and concentration to prepare Fructus Com...The quality standards for Fructus Comi have been established based on the effects of the manufacturing processes.Three critical process parameters(CPPs)of extraction,filtration,and concentration to prepare Fructus Comi concentrate were identified by Plackett-Burman design with a single batch of Fructus Corni,which were heating medium temperature,extraction time,and water addition.Morroniside yield,loganin yield,and dry matter yield were process critical quality attributes(CQAs).CPPs arranged with a Box-Behnken design were applied to treat different batches of Fructus Comi After constructing a model that included CPPs,material propertie s,and process CQAs,loganin content was found to be the critical material attribute(CMA).The design space was calculated with a probability method.According to the limits of process CQAs,the minimum content of loganin in Fructus Corni was calculated with an error propagation method,which was 6.92 mg·g^(-1).When the content of loganin in Fructus Corni reaches up to 6.92 mg·g^(-1),the material is considered high-quality and is most suitable for the process.High-quality material can be used for production of Fructus Comi concentrate.This method can also be used to set material quality standards for other Chinese medicines.展开更多

Livelihood stability would force the related polity to act coordinately while eradicating poverty and promoting resource sustainability. For this study, the livelihood approach was used as a framework of analysis that is based upon Sustainable Livelihoods Framework, the core of which is livelihood assets. Livelihood capitals provide substantial contributions to the well-being of numerous rural dwellers. However, the level and degree of reliance on livelihood capital differ across households. Factors that contribute to the economic reliance of households on a particular economic activity in general and on livelihood capital in particular may vary depending upon the type of resource endowment, household demographic, and economic characteristic as well as exoge- nous factors such as markets, prices, policies, and technologies. This study identifies factors that influence a household's live- lihood strategy choice with a particular focus on livelihood assets. The study applies a preliminary investigation concerning the relationship between livelihood assets and livelihood strategies, that is, the allocation of assets. Environmentally augmented household livelihood assets were collected from 300 sample households within the Heihe River Basin. Results show that physical assets possess a maximum value (0.609) for farmers and human assets possess a relatively high value (0.516) fol- lowed by social assets (0.354). Besides, financial and natural assets possess relatively low values (0.286 and 0.241, respec- tively). An increment of one unit should reduce the occurrence of choosing non-agricultural activities for natural capital while an increment of one unit should increase the occurrence of choosing non-agricultural activities for financial capital, while other variables remain constant. Governments, therefore, should enhance funding and technological support to achieve livelihood diversity and strengthen the facility of farmers by way of establishing relevant polity. It would enable farmers and provide themselves with the ability and asset reserves to transition from agricultural production to secondary and tertiary industries in order to improve the livelihood of farmers overall.展开更多

A rice mill survey covering diverse rice processing companies in terms of their milling output, type of technology and year of establishment was conducted to understand the current situation of the rice milling indust...A rice mill survey covering diverse rice processing companies in terms of their milling output, type of technology and year of establishment was conducted to understand the current situation of the rice milling industry and to identify enablers and barriers to its growth in Nepal. Coarse rice varieties dominate Nepal’s rice processing industry, with a 42% share by total weight, followed by medium rice (34%) and fine varieties (less than 7%). Polished white rice (<em>Arwa</em>) was the dominant rice type in Nepal in the survey, followed by parboiled and steamed rice. The price and profit margins increased from coarse to fine rice varieties and from <em>Arwa</em> to parboiled and steamed rice. The cost of milling also followed a similar trend. The rice milling industry in Nepal largely influences the adoption or non-adoption of any specific type of rice variety by dictating specific brands in the market and this has important implications for rice research and development. The rice processing industry of Nepal was unable to compete with the Indian rice milling industry because of: 1) low profit margins due to the high cost of rice production and procurement, 2) a lack of economies of scale, 3) a lack of milling technologies for long and extra-long and steamed rice in the country and a lack of investment to modernize rice milling technology, and 4) unavailability of paddy throughout the year locally. Millers were willing to upgrade their rice milling technology to include high throughput parboiling, steamed rice as well as long and extra-long grain rice. This will be a strategic decision in counteracting the ever-increasing rice imports in Nepal. We believe that the findings of the study will be vital for formulating an appropriate rice research, development and rice processing strategy for Nepal to achieve food and nutritional security and the Sustainable Development Goals.展开更多

Previous...Stuttering is a common neurological deficit and its underlying cognitive mechanisms are a matter of debate, with evidence suggesting abnormal modulation between speech encoding and other cognitive components. Previous studies have mainly used single task experiments to investigate the disturbance of language production. It is unclear whether there is abnormal interaction between the three language tasks (orthographic, phonological and semantic judgment) in stuttering patients. This study used dual tasks and manipulated the stimulus onset asynchrony (SOA) between tasks 1 and 2 and the nature of the second task, including orthographic, phonological, and semantic judgments. The results showed that the performance records of orthographic judgment, phonological judgment, and semantic judgment were significantly reduced between the patient and control groups with short SOA (P 〈 0.05). However, different patterns of interaction between task 2 and SOA were observed across subject groups: subjects with stuttering were more strongly modulated by SOA when the second task was semantic judgment or phonological judgment (P 〈 0.05), but not in the orthographic judgment experiment (P 〉 0.05). These results indicated that the interaction mechanism between semantic processing and phonological encoding might be an underlying cause for stuttering.展开更多

The research qu...The aim of this paper is to study and analyse the intemationalisation strategies chosen by the main luxury-goods players in the Chinese market, demonstrating the business intemationalisation processes. The research questions are: ttow luxury companies have developed distribution strategies in the Chinese markets? What are the main formats of distribution for the Chinese markets? Are there any differences in the internationalization process between the main players of the luxury markets and the smaller ones? The methodology is based on the analysis on multiple-case ~.nalysis on a sample of luxury-goods companies and identifies and compares the different strategies used by the players analysed. The research process starts from identifying and selecting the most well-known companies operating in the luxury branded sector, which have established a presence in the Chinese market with their own brand, collecting secondary data for the selected companies (website, corporate profile, articles on websites and in trade magazines and interviews with the management), analysing the data collected and interpreting the main results to have emerged from the research. The main findings and conclusions are that the route to development in the Chinese market taken by the players in the luxury-goods sector, historically undertaken by delocalising production operations, has in recent years begun to accelerate with new forms in play, principally linked to distribution. The Chinese market tbr luxury brands is ever more an outlet market rather than a production hub. The ability to create brand awareness will become a key factor for successful consolidation of the competitive position in this market, an operation that can only be performed through distribution. Moreover, Chinese high-end consumers are becoming ever more demanding, seeking out an ever more sophisticated shopping experience. Just as happening in other markets, opening directly operated stores is a strategic choice for reaching and convincing end-consumers, since these stores become their point of contact with the brand. Creating a shopping experience plays a central role in communicating the values, heritage and spirit of the brand to consumers. Global luxury-goods enterprises are multiplying their investment in opening new sales outlets, using different formats to create distribution system that is predominantly selective but that ensures adequate distribution coverage. Under this scenario, the "smiling curve '" which used to portray the economic features of the value chain, may change into a "silence curve" or even "sadness curve ". The catching- up pathway of latecomer countries, as predicted by the traditional 'flying geese model", is likely to be blocked, solidifying the division of"core and periphery countries" which is unfavorable to developing countries. Industrial competition between countries would move from competition between enterprises and supply chains to competition in industrial ecosystems, matdng system adaptability and dynamics the key to long-term industrial competitiveness. As an effort to embrace the "Third Industrial Revolution" and meet the challenges brought by "multi-facets competition" with developed industrial nations in various links of value chain, in the future China should make appropriate adjustments in its strategies for economic transition and upgrading, global competition, technological innovation, industrial development and information technology.
文摘In foreign language learning, many learners seem to have difficulty in reading accurately and efficiently so as to understand as much of a text as one needs in order to achieve one’s purpose. To help learners become more effective readers, it is crucial to develop relevant reading strategies in the light of their needs. This essay is intended to exploit how to help learners improve their second or foreign language reading strategies on the basis of a general understanding of the relevant literature. Holding the belief that the strategies chosen for the learners to be developed in the classroom should suit their needs, this essay mainly focuses on developing the learners’ top-down reading strategies such as predicting topics, which seems particularly relevant to the group of learners that I am familiar with. In an attempt to exemplify how to help learners of English develop their relevant reading strategies in English classes, a description of classroom procedures will be offered.

文摘Sulfate radical-advanced oxidation processes(SR-AOPs)are promising technologies for organic pollutants elimination.Heterogeneous metal-based catalysis has been widely studied and applied to activate peroxymonosulfate(PMS)for producing sulfate radicals.Developing highly efficient catalysts is crucial for future extensive use.Importantly,the catalytic activity is mainly determined by mass and electron transfer.This paper aims to overview the recent enhancement strategies for developing heterogeneous metalbased catalysts as effective PMS activators.The main strategies,including surface engineering,structural engineering,electronic modulation,external energy assistance,and membrane filtration enhancement,are summarized.The potential mechanisms for improving catalytic activity are also introduced.Finally,the challenges and future research prospects of heterogenous metal-based catalysis in SR-AOPs are proposed.This work is hoped to guide the rational design of highly efficient heterogenous catalysts in SR-AOPs.

文摘The quality standards for Fructus Comi have been established based on the effects of the manufacturing processes.Three critical process parameters(CPPs)of extraction,filtration,and concentration to prepare Fructus Comi concentrate were identified by Plackett-Burman design with a single batch of Fructus Corni,which were heating medium temperature,extraction time,and water addition.Morroniside yield,loganin yield,and dry matter yield were process critical quality attributes(CQAs).CPPs arranged with a Box-Behnken design were applied to treat different batches of Fructus Comi After constructing a model that included CPPs,material propertie s,and process CQAs,loganin content was found to be the critical material attribute(CMA).The design space was calculated with a probability method.According to the limits of process CQAs,the minimum content of loganin in Fructus Corni was calculated with an error propagation method,which was 6.92 mg·g^(-1).When the content of loganin in Fructus Corni reaches up to 6.92 mg·g^(-1),the material is considered high-quality and is most suitable for the process.High-quality material can be used for production of Fructus Comi concentrate.This method can also be used to set material quality standards for other Chinese medicines.

文摘The security and quality of the livelihood of farmers is of paramount concern in rural areas of China. Livelihood stability would force the related polity to act coordinately while eradicating poverty and promoting resource sustainability. For this study, the livelihood approach was used as a framework of analysis that is based upon Sustainable Livelihoods Framework, the core of which is livelihood assets. Livelihood capitals provide substantial contributions to the well-being of numerous rural dwellers. However, the level and degree of reliance on livelihood capital differ across households. Factors that contribute to the economic reliance of households on a particular economic activity in general and on livelihood capital in particular may vary depending upon the type of resource endowment, household demographic, and economic characteristic as well as exoge- nous factors such as markets, prices, policies, and technologies. This study identifies factors that influence a household's live- lihood strategy choice with a particular focus on livelihood assets. The study applies a preliminary investigation concerning the relationship between livelihood assets and livelihood strategies, that is, the allocation of assets. Environmentally augmented household livelihood assets were collected from 300 sample households within the Heihe River Basin. Results show that physical assets possess a maximum value (0.609) for farmers and human assets possess a relatively high value (0.516) fol- lowed by social assets (0.354). Besides, financial and natural assets possess relatively low values (0.286 and 0.241, respec- tively). An increment of one unit should reduce the occurrence of choosing non-agricultural activities for natural capital while an increment of one unit should increase the occurrence of choosing non-agricultural activities for financial capital, while other variables remain constant. Governments, therefore, should enhance funding and technological support to achieve livelihood diversity and strengthen the facility of farmers by way of establishing relevant polity. It would enable farmers and provide themselves with the ability and asset reserves to transition from agricultural production to secondary and tertiary industries in order to improve the livelihood of farmers overall.

文摘Functional polymer composites(FPCs)have attracted increasing attention in recent decades due to their great potential in delivering a wide range of functionalities.These functionalities are largely determined by functional fillers and their network morphology in polymer matrix.In recent years,a large number of studies on morphology control and interfacial modification have been reported,where numerous preparation methods and exciting performance of FPCs have been reported.Despite the fact that these FPCs have many similarities because they are all consisting of functional inorganic fillers and polymer matrices,review on the overall progress of FPCs is still missing,and especially the overall processing strategy for these composites is urgently needed.Herein,a"Toolbox"for the processing of FPCs is proposed to summarize and analyze the overall processing strategies and corresponding morphology evolution for FPCs.From this perspective,the morphological control methods already utilized for various FPCs are systematically reviewed,so that guidelines or even predictions on the processing strategies of various FPCs as well as multi-functional polymer composites could be given.This review should be able to provide interesting insights for the field of FPCs and boost future intelligent design of various FPCs.
文摘A rice mill survey covering diverse rice processing companies in terms of their milling output, type of technology and year of establishment was conducted to understand the current situation of the rice milling industry and to identify enablers and barriers to its growth in Nepal. Coarse rice varieties dominate Nepal’s rice processing industry, with a 42% share by total weight, followed by medium rice (34%) and fine varieties (less than 7%). Polished white rice (<em>Arwa</em>) was the dominant rice type in Nepal in the survey, followed by parboiled and steamed rice. The price and profit margins increased from coarse to fine rice varieties and from <em>Arwa</em> to parboiled and steamed rice. The cost of milling also followed a similar trend. The rice milling industry in Nepal largely influences the adoption or non-adoption of any specific type of rice variety by dictating specific brands in the market and this has important implications for rice research and development. The rice processing industry of Nepal was unable to compete with the Indian rice milling industry because of: 1) low profit margins due to the high cost of rice production and procurement, 2) a lack of economies of scale, 3) a lack of milling technologies for long and extra-long and steamed rice in the country and a lack of investment to modernize rice milling technology, and 4) unavailability of paddy throughout the year locally. Millers were willing to upgrade their rice milling technology to include high throughput parboiling, steamed rice as well as long and extra-long grain rice. This will be a strategic decision in counteracting the ever-increasing rice imports in Nepal. We believe that the findings of the study will be vital for formulating an appropriate rice research, development and rice processing strategy for Nepal to achieve food and nutritional security and the Sustainable Development Goals.
文摘Control of clarifier in the activated sludge process is critical for ensuring effective wastewater treatment. This paper is to study appropriate control strategies for a clarifier in an industrial wastewater treatment plant. Five control strategies are proposed, implemented and evaluated in a simulation software (West ++). The sludge blanket height and the effluent suspended solids concentration were proposed as the measured variable. The manipulated variable was the quantity of polymer added to the system. The strategies were evaluated in terms of their ability to maintain the sludge blanket height below 1.5m, their polymer requirements, their sensitivity to poor tuning and the required control action.

文摘Stuttering is a common neurological deficit and its underlying cognitive mechanisms are a matter of debate, with evidence suggesting abnormal modulation between speech encoding and other cognitive components. Previous studies have mainly used single task experiments to investigate the disturbance of language production. It is unclear whether there is abnormal interaction between the three language tasks (orthographic, phonological and semantic judgment) in stuttering patients. This study used dual tasks and manipulated the stimulus onset asynchrony (SOA) between tasks 1 and 2 and the nature of the second task, including orthographic, phonological, and semantic judgments. The results showed that the performance records of orthographic judgment, phonological judgment, and semantic judgment were significantly reduced between the patient and control groups with short SOA (P 〈 0.05). However, different patterns of interaction between task 2 and SOA were observed across subject groups: subjects with stuttering were more strongly modulated by SOA when the second task was semantic judgment or phonological judgment (P 〈 0.05), but not in the orthographic judgment experiment (P 〉 0.05). These results indicated that the interaction mechanism between semantic processing and phonological encoding might be an underlying cause for stuttering.

文摘Withthe rapiddevelopment of deep learning,the size of data sets anddeepneuralnetworks(DNNs)models are also booming.As a result,the intolerable long time for models’training or inference with conventional strategies can not meet the satisfaction of modern tasks gradually.Moreover,devices stay idle in the scenario of edge computing(EC),which presents a waste of resources since they can share the pressure of the busy devices but they do not.To address the problem,the strategy leveraging distributed processing has been applied to load computation tasks from a single processor to a group of devices,which results in the acceleration of training or inference of DNN models and promotes the high utilization of devices in edge computing.Compared with existing papers,this paper presents an enlightening and novel review of applying distributed processing with data and model parallelism to improve deep learning tasks in edge computing.Considering the practicalities,commonly used lightweight models in a distributed system are introduced as well.As the key technique,the parallel strategy will be described in detail.Then some typical applications of distributed processing will be analyzed.Finally,the challenges of distributed processing with edge computing will be described.

文摘Full electronic automation in stock exchanges has recently become popular,generat-ing high-frequency intraday data and motivating the development of near real-time price forecasting methods.Machine learning algorithms are widely applied to mid-price stock predictions.Processing raw data as inputs for prediction models(e.g.,data thinning and feature engineering)can primarily affect the performance of the prediction methods.However,researchers rarely discuss this topic.This motivated us to propose three novel modelling strategies for processing raw data.We illustrate how our novel modelling strategies improve forecasting performance by analyzing high-frequency data of the Dow Jones 30 component stocks.In these experiments,our strategies often lead to statistically significant improvement in predictions.The three strategies improve the F1 scores of the SVM models by 0.056,0.087,and 0.016,respectively.

文摘The aim of this paper is to study and analyse the intemationalisation strategies chosen by the main luxury-goods players in the Chinese market, demonstrating the business intemationalisation processes. The research questions are: ttow luxury companies have developed distribution strategies in the Chinese markets? What are the main formats of distribution for the Chinese markets? Are there any differences in the internationalization process between the main players of the luxury markets and the smaller ones? The methodology is based on the analysis on multiple-case ~.nalysis on a sample of luxury-goods companies and identifies and compares the different strategies used by the players analysed. The research process starts from identifying and selecting the most well-known companies operating in the luxury branded sector, which have established a presence in the Chinese market with their own brand, collecting secondary data for the selected companies (website, corporate profile, articles on websites and in trade magazines and interviews with the management), analysing the data collected and interpreting the main results to have emerged from the research. The main findings and conclusions are that the route to development in the Chinese market taken by the players in the luxury-goods sector, historically undertaken by delocalising production operations, has in recent years begun to accelerate with new forms in play, principally linked to distribution. The Chinese market tbr luxury brands is ever more an outlet market rather than a production hub. The ability to create brand awareness will become a key factor for successful consolidation of the competitive position in this market, an operation that can only be performed through distribution. Moreover, Chinese high-end consumers are becoming ever more demanding, seeking out an ever more sophisticated shopping experience. Just as happening in other markets, opening directly operated stores is a strategic choice for reaching and convincing end-consumers, since these stores become their point of contact with the brand. Creating a shopping experience plays a central role in communicating the values, heritage and spirit of the brand to consumers. Global luxury-goods enterprises are multiplying their investment in opening new sales outlets, using different formats to create distribution system that is predominantly selective but that ensures adequate distribution coverage. The development of direct distribution channels, alongside the more traditional forms of indirect presence, is accompanied by the more innovative players developing the digital channel to accompany and support their retailing activities.
文摘In recent years, service failure and recovery strategies have generated considerable interest among both researchers and marketers. The Internet environment has transformed the concepts of service failure and recovery strategies from a dyadic customer-provider focus into a multidimensional web quality scope. In traditional encounters, the research spectrum of service failure and recovery strategies is very much developed from a customer service approach and the responsibility of recovery has been traditionally assumed to be something that is assigned to the marketer. Studies pay little or no attention to the multidimensional nature of service failures contingent to recovery strategies in developing countries. To date, empirical studies have focused on service failures and recovery strategies in developed countries. This paper aims to provide some insights on the need for a context-specific development of recovery programmes and strategies suitable for developing countries.
