By adopting evolutionary economic geography theory, the paper analyzes the types of operation in West Lake Scenic Area from 1978 to 2013. First, an evolution process consisting of four stages is underpinned, and they are: the new establishment stage, the preliminary development stage, the speedup development stage, and the stabilized maturity stage. Specifically, the distinct characteristics associated with operation types are compared and evaluated at different stages throughout the process. The evolution trees are introduced to scrutinize types of operation development. The results of evolution trees demonstrate the substantial increase in both numbers and types. Second, by applying GIS spatial analysis, the paper also analyzes the spatial evolution characteristics on the types of operation, and the results unveil the co-existence of centripetal and centrifugal forces: the processes of spatial agglomeration and spatial dispersion. More specifically, we recognize the spatial process includes the emergence of node and concentration(1978–1995), the sparse distribution and intensity reduction(1996–2002), the patchy distribution and spatial agglomeration intensification(2003–2008), the dispersed distribution and core area agglomeration(2009–2013). Lastly, path dependence on resource endowment, government and market innovation, knowledge learning and spillover can reasonably explain the types of operation evolution. In conclusion, the evolutionary economic geography theories provide new theoretical and empirical perspectives for tourism policy analysis. At the same time, our comprehensive evidences impart more comprehensive insights and offer useful managerial and policy implications.展开更多

The correlative theo...In order to guarantee the safety service and life-span of long-span cable-stayed bridges, the uncertain type of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method is adopted to access the bridge condition. The correlative theory and applied objects of uncertain type of AHP are introduced, and then the optimal transitive matrix method is chosen to calculate the interval number judgment matrix, which makes the weights of indices more reliable and accurate. Finally, with Harbin Songhua River Cable-Stayed Bridge as an example, an index system and an assessment model are proposed for the condition assessment of this bridge, and by using uncertain type of AHP, the weights of assessment indices are fixed and the final assessment results of the bridge are calculated, which proves the feasibility and practicability of this method. The application of this assessment method can provide the scientific basis for maintenance and management of long-span cable-stayed bridges.展开更多

The fruit is in the shape of long finger with few wrinkles and good gloss, and tastes very spicy .The fruit has a vertical diameter of 17.5 cm, a transverse diameter of 1.6 cm, a fresh thickness of 0,20 cm and a single fruit weight of 15.6 g. It is yellowishgreen in the early maturation stage and yellow in the late maturation stage. The cultivar exhibited high resistance to pepper blight, viral diseases and powdery mildew, and showed an average yield of 56 493,0 kg/hm^2. Suspend-dense structure and Skeleton-dense structure were selected to i...The main objective of this paper is to evaluate the effects of asphalt concrete types on the microstructural characteristics at high-temperature. Suspend-dense structure and Skeleton-dense structure were selected to investigate the deformation of pavement at meso-scale. The internal microstructures of typical asphalt concretes, AC, SUP and SMA, were scanned by X-ray CT device, and microstructural changes before and after high-temperature damage were researched by digital image processing. Adaptive threshold segmentation algorithm(ATSA) based on image radius was developed and utilized to obtain the binary images of aggregates, air-voids and asphalt mastic. Then the shape and distribution of air-voids and aggregates were analyzed. The results show that the ATSA can distinguish the target and background effectively. Gradation and coarse aggregate size of asphalt mixtures have an obvious influence on the distribution of air-voids. The movements of aggregate particles are complex and aggregates with elliptic sharp show great rotation. The effect of gradation on microstructure during high-temperature damage promotes the research about the failure mechanism of asphalt concrete pavement.展开更多

In the classic Lee-Carter model of mortality, the time trend and the age-specific pattern of mortality over age group are linear, this is not the feature of mortality model. To avoid this disadvantage, O-U type processes will be used to model the log-mortality in this paper. In fact, this model is an AR(1) process, but with a nonlinear time drift term.Based on the mortality data of America from Human Mortality database(HMD), mortality projection consistently indicates a preference for mortality with O-U type processes over those with the classical Lee-Carter model. By means of this model, the low bounds of mortality rates at every age are given. Therefore, lengthening of maximum life expectancies span is estimated in this paper.展开更多

It is suggested that the Type Ⅳμ burst associated with CME was due to the gyrosynchrotron radiation of high energy electrons trapped by magnetic field. The proposed procedure is based on the condi- tional characteristic function, and the maximum empirical likelihood estimator is proved to be consistent and asymptotically normal. Moreover, this estimator is shown to be asymptotically efficient under some mild conditions. When the background driving Lévy process is of type A or B, we show that the intensity parameter can be exactly recovered, and we study the maximum empirical likelihood estimator with the plug-in estimated intensity parameter. Testing procedures based on the empirical likelihood ratio statistic are developed for parameters and for estimating equations, respectively. Finally, Monte Carlo simulations are conducted to demonstrate the performance of proposed estimators.展开更多

Customers arrive according to a semi-Markov arrival process and the service times...This paper studies a continuous time queueing system with multiple types of customers and a first-come-first-served service discipline. Customers arrive according to a semi-Markov arrival process and the service times of individual types of customers have PH-distributios. A GI/M/1 type Markov process for a generalized age process of batches of customers is constructed. The stationary distribution of the GI/M/1 type Markov process is found explicitly and, consequently, the distributions of the age of the batch in service, the total workload in the system, waiting times, and sojourn times of different batches and different types of customers are obtained. The paper gives the matrix representations of the PH-distributions of waiting times and sojourn times. Some results are obtained for the distributions of queue lengths at departure epochs and at an arbitrary time. These results can be used to analyze not only the queue length, but also the composition of the queue. Computational methods are developed for calculating steady state distributions related to the queue lengths, sojourn times, and waiting times.展开更多

The famed modern Chinese essay...This paper reports the attempt to apply the functional approach to the translation teaching practice that guides students in their study of Chinese essays and their English translations. The famed modern Chinese essay Belying and its three English translations were taken for case study from the perspective of Experiential Function in Systemic Functional Linguistics. A process type analysis of Beiying and its English translations was conducted, including analysis of texts, sample processes, distributions of process types in Beiying and analyses of similarities and differences in the distributions. Results are as follows: 1) The similarities between English and Chinese texts lie in the experiential world, which makes translation possible. The process types in the essay text are directly related to genre, and the material process predominates among the process types in essay texts. 2) The differences are that the percentage of the material process in the ST is higher than that in the three English translations, and this shows the characteristics of verb-prominence in Chinese and nominalization in English. 3) Cultural differences in translation are the root-cause of linguistic differences. These results from the case of practicing the functional approach to the teaching of translation can help students gain understanding of English translations of Beiying and can provide some inspiration for the teaching of Chinese-English essay translation and the related studies.展开更多
