The Correlation between Psychological Resilience and Professional Quality of Life in Saudi Psychiatric Nurses:A Cross-Sectional Study

In recent years,significant focus has been placed on resilience,with ongoing studies aiming to identify strategies for reducing the negative effects of job stress and protecting nurses from negative psychosocial outcomes.Nevertheless,as far as this topic is concerned,no research has yet been conducted in the context of Saudi psychiatric nurses.The aim of this research,therefore,is to determine how Saudi Arabian psychiatric nurses’professional quality of life and psychological resilience relate to one another.To this aim,a cross-sectional study has been performed in Saudi Arabia incorporating a population of 167(a 66.4%response rate)mental health nurses taken from the largest psychiatric hospital in the capital city Riyadh.Data collection was performed using the popular Arabic version of the Connor–Davidson Resilience and the Arabic version of the Professional Quality of Life Scales.To assess the variables related to both Professional Quality of Life and psychological resilience levels,statistical analyses such as Pearson correlation,ANOVA,t-tests,and linear regression were utilized.The findings show compassion satisfaction and burnout to have a moderate inverse relationship(r=−0.502),while compassion satisfaction(CS)and resilience have a moderate positive correlation(r=0.594).Compared to their morning-shift counterparts,nurses working night shifts reported higher mean scores for resilience(72.70),CS(40.20),burnout(24.52),and compassion fatigue(CF)(28.11).Participants with less than five years’experience in a psychiatric clinic had the highest mean resilience score(72.96).Finally,a positive relationship between resilience and compassion satisfaction(CS)was revealed using linear regression analysis(β=0.536,t=7.080,p=0.000).The study reveals significant differences in the scores assigned to resilience and work-life quality based on educational qualifications,shift-work type,and experiences.Burnout and compassion satisfaction(CS)are found to be significantly correlated,as are compassion satisfaction(CS)and resilience,and burnout and compassion fatigue(CF). 展开更多

Objective:To explore the relationship between nursing professional values and ethical climate and nurses'professional quality of life.Methods:The present study is a descriptive,cross-sectional work in which 400 nurses from various wards of hospitals in the south-east of Iran were studied.Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of four sections:demographics,Nurses'Professional Values Scale-Revised(NPVS-R),the Hospital Ethical Climate Survey(HECS),and the Professional Quality of Life Scale(ProQOL).Results:The total mean scores for professional values were 105.29±15.60.The total mean score for the ethical climate was 100.09±17.11.The mean scores for the indexes of compassion satisfaction,burnout,and secondary traumatic stress were 45.29±8.93,34.38±6.84,and 32.15±7.02 respectively.The relationships between professional values and the indexes of compassion satisfaction(r=0.56),burnout(r=0.26),and secondary traumatic stress(r=0.18)were found to be positive and significant(P<0.001).Also,the relationships between ethical climate and the items of compassion satisfaction(r=0.60,P<0.001),burnout(r=0.15,P=0.002)were found to be positive and significant.Conclusion:An understanding of nurses'perception of professional values and improving the ethical climate at work can help nursing administrators identify more effective strategies toward increasing compassion satisfaction and lessening bumout and work-related stress. 展开更多

Objectives:To describe the professional quality of life and explore its associated factors among nurses coming from other areas of China to assist with the anti-epidemic fight inWuhan and especially examine whether the hospital ethical climate was independently associated with nurses’professional quality of life.Methods:A cross-sectional online survey was conducted from March 2020 to April 2020.The nurses working in Wuhan from the other parts of China were the target population.The Professional Quality of Life Scale version 5,the Hospital Ethical Climate Survey,and a basic information sheet were used to collect data.Descriptive statistics,t-test,ANOVA,Pearson correlation,and multiple linear regression analysis were used to analyze the data.Results:In total,236 nurses participated in this study,and 219 valid questionnaires were analyzed.The average age of the participants was 31.2±5.0 years.Most nurses were female(176/219;80.4%)and married(145/219;66.2%).In term of professional quality of life,nurses reported moderate(129/219;58.9%)to high(90/219;41.1%)levels of compassion satisfaction,low(119/219;54.3%)to moderate(100/219;45.7%)levels of burnout,and low(67/219;36.0%)to high(10/219;4.6%)levels of secondary traumatic stress.Regarding hospital ethical climate,nurses reported moderately high hospital ethical climates with an average score of 4.46.After controlling for socio-demographic characteristics,the multiple linear regression models showed that the hospital ethical climate subscale of“relationship with physicians”was independently associated with the compassion satisfaction(b=0.533,P<0.01)and burnout(b=0.237,P<0.05);the hospital ethical climate subscale of“relationship with peers”(b=0.191,P<0.01)was independently associated with the secondary traumatic stress.Conclusions:During the early stage of the pandemic,nurses demonstrated moderate to high level of compassion satisfaction,low to moderate level of burnout,and all nurses experienced secondary traumatic stress.Nurses perceived a high level of hospital ethical climate,and the perceived hospital ethical climate played an important role in promoting nurses’professional quality of life during a lifethreatening infectious disease pandemic. 展开更多

Objective:The quality of professional life has attracted the attention of many managers owing to its importance,and organizational commitment differs according to work conditions in an organization.As the largest professional group in the healthcare system,nurses face many stressful factors that can endanger their quality of professional life and organizational commitment.Despite their huge importance,these 2 variables have rarely been addressed or evaluated in the nursing profession.The present study was conducted to determine the relationship between quality of professional life and organizational commitment in nurses working in the intensive care units(ICUs)and critical care units(CCUs).Methods:The present descriptive-analytical study was conducted on 221 nurses working in the ICUs of hospitals affiliated to Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and selected through proportional stratified sampling.The data collection tools comprised demographic questionnaires,the quality of work-life questionnaire by Walton with 8 dimensions,and the valid and reliable organizational commitment scale by Meyer and Allen.The data were analyzed in SPSS,version 23(IBM Corporation,Armonk,New York,United States),using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques,including Spearman correlation,Pearson correlation,the Kruskal-Wallis test,the Mann-Whitney U test,the c2 test,and the independent t test.P<0.050 was set as the level of statistical significance.Results:The mean scores of quality of professional life and organizational commitment were 58.996±14.427 and 93.840±13.900,respectively,in the ICU nurses.The Pearson test showed positive and significant relationships between quality of professional life and organizational commitment(r=0.392,P<0.001).Conclusions:Given the positive relationship found in the present study between organizational commitment and quality of professional life,it is recommended that organizational commitment be modified to improve the quality of professional life in nurses. 展开更多

Objective:The objective of the study is to describe the work-related quality of life(WRQOL)among nurses and explore its association with performance evaluation ratings.Methods:A cross-sectional design was utilized measuring the WRQOL scale and the previous performance appraisal rating.Multistage sampling approach was utilized with nurses stratified based on their position and then systematically random sampled based on their unit assignment.Results:One hundred and eighty-two nurses were included.About half reported a high quality of work life(101;55.5%).Low scores were noted on the subscale working conditions(100;54.9%),low to average responses for home-work interface(109;59.9%),control at work(100;54.9%),and stress at work(90;49.5%).A higher proportion of nurses reported positive responses toward the areas of general well-being(113;62.1%)and job-career satisfaction(112;61.5%),than in the other subscales.There were notable differences between WRQOL ratings:(1)Head nurses had the highest perceived quality of work life,followed by nurse supervisors and charge nurses(F=6.1,P<0.01)and(2)Nurses in the pay-patient services reported lower quality of working life,while those in office and outpatient services had more positive scores(F=4.6,P<0.01).Conclusion:Only more than half of the nurses reported a high quality of work life,some of its dimensions,particularly job and career satisfaction and working conditions,appeared to vary in the perceived degree across years in service,work hours,and position.The assessment of the quality of work life may serve as an important tool to address staff burnout,absenteeism and other issues that affect job performance among health-care professionals. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Burnout and compassion fatigue are affecting the quality of professional life.AIM To investigate the levels of vocational satisfaction,burnout,and compassion fatigue and factors that may be related to health professionals working in children’s clinics.METHODS The study sample was in the west of Turkey.Data were collected using the questionnaire form and the quality of life scale for employees.RESULTS The findings obtained in this study showed that the level of vocational satisfaction of female health professionals and the burnout level of male health professionals were higher.The professional satisfaction of the doctors was lower than that of the nurses and midwives,and the mean score of burnout and fatigue was high.CONCLUSION Further studies are needed on this topic to help improve the factors that may affect the professional quality of life of health professionals. 展开更多

目的了解感染科护士专业生活品质现状并分析其影响因素,为采取针对性措施提高其专业生活品质提供参考。方法便利选取湖北省11所三甲医院的388名感染科护士,采用一般资料调查表、专业生活品质量表、领悟社会支持量表、自我同情简表进行... 目的了解感染科护士专业生活品质现状并分析其影响因素,为采取针对性措施提高其专业生活品质提供参考。方法便利选取湖北省11所三甲医院的388名感染科护士,采用一般资料调查表、专业生活品质量表、领悟社会支持量表、自我同情简表进行调查。结果感染科护士专业生活品质量表中倦怠、二次创伤和共情满意维度得分分别为(26.16±5.90)分、(22.42±4.91)分、(30.26±8.16)分。回归分析结果显示,职称、每日工作时长、收入满意度、饮食状况、自评身体状况、社会支持和自我同情是倦怠的影响因素;独生子女、学历和自我同情是二次创伤的影响因素;独生子女、工作年限、收入满意度、饮食状况、自评身体状况、社会支持和自我同情是共情满意的影响因素(均P<0.05)。结论感染科护士的专业生活品质处于中等水平,影响因素较多。建议针对感染科护士的不同特征提供个性化的支持方案,以提高其专业生活品质。 展开更多

目的调查护士专业生活品质、护士职业价值观和医院磁性要素的现状,探讨三者之间的关系及作用路径。方法采用便利抽样法,应用一般资料调查表、磁性要素量表、护士职业价值观量表和专业生活品质量表对537名来自浙江省某三级甲等医院的护... 目的调查护士专业生活品质、护士职业价值观和医院磁性要素的现状,探讨三者之间的关系及作用路径。方法采用便利抽样法,应用一般资料调查表、磁性要素量表、护士职业价值观量表和专业生活品质量表对537名来自浙江省某三级甲等医院的护士进行问卷调查。结果医院磁性要素得分为(141.46±20.04)分,护士职业价值观得分为(96.74±16.90)分,护士专业生活品质得分,慈心满意维度(34.01±6.69)分、工作倦怠维度(24.82±5.19)分、二次创伤维度(25.39±5.70)分。医院磁性要素可以直接预测慈心满意,标准化效应值为0.434,又可通过护士职业价值观的中介作用间接预测慈心满意,标准化效应值为0.191,中介效应占总效应的30.56%。医院磁性要素可以直接预测工作倦怠,标准化效应值为-0.417,又可通过护士职业价值观的中介作用间接预测工作倦怠,标准化效应值为-0.099,中介效应占总效应的19.19%。结论护士职业价值观在医院磁性要素与护士慈心满意或工作倦怠间起部分中介作用。护理管理者可通过借鉴磁性医院的管理理念和管理模式,提高护士职业价值观,改善护士专业生活品质。 展开更多

目的 对安宁疗护女性护士的专业生活品质现状进行调查,依据医疗保健专业健康模型,探讨正念自我照护与专业生活品质的关系,以期引导安宁疗护女性护士用积极有效的方式应对同情疲劳,提高专业生活品质。方法 采用方便抽样法选取山西省10所... 目的 对安宁疗护女性护士的专业生活品质现状进行调查,依据医疗保健专业健康模型,探讨正念自我照护与专业生活品质的关系,以期引导安宁疗护女性护士用积极有效的方式应对同情疲劳,提高专业生活品质。方法 采用方便抽样法选取山西省10所安宁疗护试点医院内300名女性护士,使用简化版正念自我照护量表、简式弹性量表、专业生活品质量表、简版心理健康连续体量表进行问卷调查。结果 安宁疗护女性护士专业生活品质量表中同情满意度维度为(33.84±7.15)分,同情疲劳维度为(51.22±10.36)分;正念自我照护与同情满意度呈正相关(r=0.635,P<0.05),与同情疲劳呈负相关(r=-0.320,P<0.05)。心理弹性在正念自我照护与同情满意度间起部分中介作用,在正念自我照护与同情疲劳间起完全中介作用(P<0.05)。正念自我照护与心理弹性之间受到情绪幸福感的调节(P<0.05)。结论 多数安宁疗护女性护士专业生活品质处于中高度水平,心理弹性在正念自我照护和专业生活品质之间起中介作用,情绪幸福感在正念自我照护与心理弹性间起调节作用。护理管理者应重视正念自我照护在安宁疗护女性护士职业健康中的积极作用,提高其自我同情能力和应对同情疲劳的能力,以保障安宁疗护队伍的稳定发展。 展开更多

目的 调查临床护士的专业生活品质现状并分析影响因素,为保障护士身心健康提供建议。方法选取2022年7—8月吉林省延吉市2所三级甲等综合性医院符合纳入条件的424名临床护士进行问卷调查。调查工具有一般资料调查表、专业生活品质量表、... 目的 调查临床护士的专业生活品质现状并分析影响因素,为保障护士身心健康提供建议。方法选取2022年7—8月吉林省延吉市2所三级甲等综合性医院符合纳入条件的424名临床护士进行问卷调查。调查工具有一般资料调查表、专业生活品质量表、中文版知觉压力量表及护理工作环境量表。结果 临床护士专业生活品质,慈心满意处于中低水平者348名(82.07%),工作倦怠与二次创伤处于中高水平者分别占341名(80.42%)、331名(78.07%)。慈心满意的影响因素包括文化水平、平均月收入、知觉压力、护理工作环境,共解释总变异的57.1%;工作倦怠的影响因素为护龄、月夜班次数、职称、知觉压力、护理工作环境,共解释总变异的30.1%;二次创伤的影响因素为职称、知觉压力、护理工作环境,共解释总变异的28.9%。结论 多数护士的慈心满意程度处于中低水平,工作倦怠及二次创伤水平处于中高水平而亟待改善。建议护理管理者采取人性化管理,改善工作环境,降低工作压力,提高低文化水平、低职称、低收入、高月夜班次数护士的专业生活品质,保障其身心健康和护理服务质量。 展开更多

目的了解ICU护士的角色过载、职业召唤和专业生活品质现状,并探讨三者间的关系。方法采用便利抽样法,选取济南市某三级甲等医院的180名ICU护士为调查对象,使用一般资料调查表、角色过载量表、职业召唤量表和专业生活品质量表进行调查。... 目的了解ICU护士的角色过载、职业召唤和专业生活品质现状,并探讨三者间的关系。方法采用便利抽样法,选取济南市某三级甲等医院的180名ICU护士为调查对象,使用一般资料调查表、角色过载量表、职业召唤量表和专业生活品质量表进行调查。结果ICU护士角色过载得分为(15.11±4.41)分,职业召唤得分为(44.46±7.84)分,专业生活品质得分为(85.84±8.21)分。ICU护士角色过载与职业倦怠呈正相关(r=0.205,P<0.001),与职业召唤呈负相关(r=-0.394,P<0.001);职业召唤与同情心满意呈正相关(r=0.496,P<0.001),与二次创伤、职业倦怠呈负相关(r1=-0.326,r2=-0.439,P<0.001)。ICU护士的职业召唤对其专业生活品质具有直接影响作用,角色过载以职业召唤为中介变量,间接影响专业生活品质。结论ICU护士角色过载处于中等水平,职业召唤处于中等偏下水平,专业生活品质处于中等水平。护理管理者在干预时,可通过降低ICU护士角色过载提升其职业召唤,改善其专业生活品质。 展开更多

目的研究中文版护士职业生活质量量表在中国临床护士同情心疲乏水平测量中的适用性。方法将英文版职业生活质量量表经过专家翻译、回译、文化调适和预试验,形成中文版护士职业生活质量量表。对374名临床护士进行问卷调查,评定该量表的... 目的研究中文版护士职业生活质量量表在中国临床护士同情心疲乏水平测量中的适用性。方法将英文版职业生活质量量表经过专家翻译、回译、文化调适和预试验,形成中文版护士职业生活质量量表。对374名临床护士进行问卷调查,评定该量表的结构效度、内部一致性和折半信度等。结果中文版护士职业生活质量量表共28个条目。同情心满足、工作倦怠和继发性创伤应激3个子量表的Cronbach's a系数分别为0.875、0.722和0.786,折半信度分别为0.856、0.636和0.765;探索性因子分析中,3个子量表各提取一个公因子,方差贡献率分别为47.35%、31.81%和38.20%。结论中文版护士职业生活质量量表具有良好的信、效度,适合中国临床护士同情心满足与同情心疲乏水平的测量。 展开更多

目的了解哈尔滨市二三级医院护士专业生活品质现状,探讨护士专业生活品质影响因素,为提升护士专业生活品质提供建议。方法使用一般资料调查表和专业生活品质量表(ProQOL-V)对黑龙江省4所二级医院、6所三级医院的525名护士进行问卷调查... 目的了解哈尔滨市二三级医院护士专业生活品质现状,探讨护士专业生活品质影响因素,为提升护士专业生活品质提供建议。方法使用一般资料调查表和专业生活品质量表(ProQOL-V)对黑龙江省4所二级医院、6所三级医院的525名护士进行问卷调查。结果二三级医院护士专业生活品质总体得分为慈心满意(35.40±7.03)分,工作倦怠(25.32±6.15)分,二次创伤(26.43±5.65)分。二三级医院护士慈心满意、二次创伤得分存在显著差异(P <0.05),性别、收入、聘用形式、加班次数、婚姻状况、供职科室是护士专业生活品质的影响因素。结论黑龙江省二三级医院护士专业生活品质总体处于中度水平,建议护士个人、护理管理者、医疗机构等从护士专业生活品质的影响因素入手,共同努力以改善护士专业生活品质。 展开更多

目的了解临床护士的临床领导力、专业生活品质和护理服务质量的现状,探讨专业生活品质在临床领导力和护理服务质量间的中介作用。方法采用一般资料问卷、临床领导力量表、专业生活品质量表、护理服务质量评价量表对浙江省3所医联体基层... 目的了解临床护士的临床领导力、专业生活品质和护理服务质量的现状,探讨专业生活品质在临床领导力和护理服务质量间的中介作用。方法采用一般资料问卷、临床领导力量表、专业生活品质量表、护理服务质量评价量表对浙江省3所医联体基层医院的457名临床护士进行问卷调查。结果临床护士临床领导力总分为(64.09±9.58)分,专业生活品质的慈心满意得分为(40.11±7.56)分、职业倦怠得分为(29.39±8.77)分、二次创伤得分为23.88(16.00,30.00)分,护理服务质量总分为(86.30±22.47)分;护理服务质量与临床领导力呈正相关(r=0.836,P<0.01),与专业生活品质的慈心满意(r=0.846,P<0.01)呈正相关,与工作倦怠和二次创伤呈负相关(r=-0.463~-0.792,P<0.01),专业生活品质中慈心满意、职业倦怠和二次创伤在临床领导力和护理服务质量之间发挥部分中介作用,中介效应分别为0.568、0.123、0.373,分别占总效应的28.95%、6.27%、19.01%。结论临床护士专业生活品质仍有较大提升空间,护理管理者应采取多种干预措施培养临床护士临床领导力,提升其慈心满意,降低倦怠和二次创伤,进一步提高护理服务质量。 展开更多
