In the article, the issue of ...The assessment of the Project Management Maturity (PMM) level shows the company how good it is at managing projects. This measurement can be performed in different domains of expertise. In the article, the issue of PMM in the human resources (HR) area is examined. The discussion is based on a world-wide empirical research project conducted in more than 400 companies. The study was mostly focused on the machinery industry as there is a dearth of research on project management topics in this branch of the economy. Therefore, by investigating the PMM level in the HR area, a picture of the state of project management in the machinery industry will be created. For the purposes of comparison, a study was conducted on the construction (CONS) and information technology (IT) industries which, in contradistinction, are very well recognized in the scientific literature related to project management issues. This approach will help to better contextualize and understand the results from the machinery industry. The PMM level measurement was done using the author's model which assesses maturity on a scale of one to five, where one is the lowest and five, the highest level of maturity. The results of the study revealed that there were differences among the industries in PMM levels and between Polish and foreign companies.展开更多

On the other hand, it is very important to define the whole target entities of quality management about the TQM because lack of important target entities may cause significant risk of loss in future. Furthermore, target entities of TQM should correspond to needs and priority of an objective requirement and that should be based on the consideration of basic principle of quality management. In the previous study, we have proposed the “framework of new TQM” of assessment for a total quality management of organizations based on the original concept of “TQM matrix”. On the other hand, we have proposed the view point of “Three-Dimensional Unification Value Models” for an evaluation of system product. Project portfolio management is a major challenge for some organizations.In most organizations,there are a large number of projects active at the same time,some not necessarily delivering value or not aligned with the...Project portfolio management is a major challenge for some organizations.In most organizations,there are a large number of projects active at the same time,some not necessarily delivering value or not aligned with their strategic goals.Also universities face a lot of uncertainties when selecting and prioritizing the projects that make up their portfolio.In addition,the achievement of those who are aligned with the strategy of the university becomes a great challenge.So to ensure good project portfolio management,the implementation of selection and prioritization methods and processes becomes important.For the project portfolio management to be effective,it is necessary to establish a structured method adapted to the needs and strategy of the university.In this context,this paper proposes a method for selecting and prioritizing projects within the framework of the portfolio management dedicated to universities,which can promote harmony between the university’s strategy,the needs and the priority objectives for enable better decision-making.This method is based on the processes of the COBIT 5 good practice framework,and on the multi-criteria decision-making methods AHP,TOPSIS and the WSM technique,thus,it proposes seven project selection criteria based on the five axes IT governance strategies and two catalysts derived from COBIT 5 enablers.The evaluation and validation of this method was applied in the portfolio management of the Abdelmalek Essaadi Moroccan University(AUE).The result shows that this proposed method has made it possible to make a better selection and prioritization of the portfolio of projects of Abdelmleek Essaadi University having the most value.展开更多

From the model, data mining method was used to acquire the risk transmission matrix from the historical databases analysis. The quantitative calculation problem among the generic project risk elements was solved. This method deals with well the risk element transmission problems with limited states. And in order to get the limited states, fuzzy theory was used to discrete the historical data in historical databases. In an example, the controlling risk degree is chosen as P(Rs≥2) ≤0.1, it means that the probability of risk state which is not less than 2 in project is not more than 0.1, the risk element R3 is chosen to control the project, respectively. The result shows that three risk element transmission matrix can be acquired in 4 risk elements, and the frequency histogram and cumulative frequency histogram of each risk element are also given.展开更多

Factual data enables managers to measure, to understand their businesses, and to directly translate that knowledge into improved decision making and performance. This position paper argues that data analytics is ready to change engineering management in the following areas: 1) by making relevant historical data available to the manager at the time when it's needed; 2) by filtering out actionable intelligence from the ocean of data; and 3) by integrating useful data from multiple sources to support quantitative decision-making. Considering the unique need for engineering management, the paper proposes researchable topics in the two broad areas of data acquisition and data analytics.
