Spatial Protection and Development of Traditional Mountain Settlements from the Perspective of Self-organization : A Case Study of Anju Ancient Town in Tongliang District, Chongqing

Through literature research, field research and urban design analysis methods, based on the self-organization theory, the evolution characteristics of the settlement space of Anju Ancient Town with significant characteristics of traditional mountain settlements were analyzed, and then its internal and external influencing factors were summarized. Finally, appropriate protection and development strategies were proposed, such as reasonably planning functional zones, breaking through the single structure, and creating a good living cultural environment. The innovation of this study is that it integrates the self-organization theory into the cognition of traditional mountain settlement space, and discusses the connection between the mountain settlement space and the traditional regional context under the modern development concept, so as to seek the benign protection and reasonable development of traditional mountain settlement space.

Characteristics and Protection Approaches of Human Settlement in Ancient Villages of Jiangxi: A Case Study of Ancient Dongyuan Zengs' Village

Ancient village as a precious historical and cultural heritage of China is hailed as the "eco-museum" of classical folk cultures and "living fossil" of rural history culture. This paper elaborated human settlement characteristics of ancient Dongyuan Zengs' Village, Jinxi County from the perspectives of village environment, history evolution, village layout and village building, and explored the substantial content of village human settlement protection, and proposed specifi c approaches of protecting the human settlement, such as ancient village layout, history and culture, and provided references for protecting human settlement of the ancient villages.

Planning,Protection and Construction of Ancient Villages in Jiangxi under the Background of New Urbanization: Taking the Water Management System of Mingkou Village in Leping City,Jiangxi Province as an Example

Urbanization is an inevitable trend of economic development. It is an important indicator that reflects the industrialization and modernization of a country. In the long-term urbanization process in China, due to the excessive emphasis on the status of the city and one-sided emphasis on urban development, a serious of urban diseases such as population congestion and environmental damage have been caused. Meanwhile, neglected rural areas have exposed social problems such as aging and hollowing out, making the urban-rural dual structure more prominent. Currently, China s economic and social development has reached a new stage, and the realization of urban-rural integration is a major measure to comprehensively develop the national economy and social undertakings. Vigorously developing the rural areas and revitalizing the countryside has become a national policy. Traditional ancient villages are treasures in the vast rural areas. They should be more protected and developed to eliminate the urban-rural gap, thereby passing down and carrying forward the essence of traditional culture and enhancing China s national confidence and cultural confidence. Focusing on the protection and planning of ancient villages, combined with the current policy background of new urbanization, based on field research on Mingkou Village, Leping City, Jiangxi Province, protective development strategies are put forward for ancient villages and their water management from the perspective of water management in ancient villages to arouse people s attention to the protection of ancient villages.

Protection and Development of Famous Historic and Cultural Cities Guided by Tourism Culture Geography:A Case Study of Ancient Pingyao City

By introducing cultural landscape theories and attaching importance to practical application of theories, this paper analyzed protection and development of ancient Pingyao City under the guidance of relevant theories. Taking Pingyao for example, application of theories in practices will be better understood, and the role of human geography in urban planning reflected. Referring to the protection and development cases of famous historic and cultural cities, this paper analyzed historical and cultural context, and spatial environment of Ancient Pingyao City from the perspectives of culture and geography, and proposed suggestions for the protection and development of ancient city under the guidance of human geography theories.

Integrated Development of the Tourism and Protection of Ancient Towns

Local color is not only the cultural counter in the competition between cities,but the main cultural element that attracts foreign tourists.In recent years,many cities have regarded tourism development as a major mean of reviving ancient towns.The excavation of local culture,material reconstruction of local characteristics,and the resurgence and"reproduction"of local industries have become an important work in the tourism development of ancient towns.Apart from the discussion of the protection,inheritance,and touristification of tangible cultural heritage and intangible cultural heritage,this paper demonstrated the possibility of the integration and production capacity of local characteristic industry resources and analyzed the impact of the integrated development on the lifestyle and living atmosphere of residents in the ancient towns.In this paper,ways to realize the integrated development of the tourism and protection of ancient towns were included as follows:(1)to ensure the principal status of local residents and give full play to their initiatives;(2)to protect the local traditional way of life and improve the public service system;(3)to choose the appropriate development pattern and achieve the diversified development;(4)to improve service facilities in tourism and adjust the structure of tourism products.

Protection and Development of Traditional Villages Rich in Agricultural Cultural Heritage Resources:A Case Study of Nihegou Village in Jiaxian County

Firstly,the composition and value of heritage in Nihegou Village having the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems(GIAHS) were analyzed,and then dilemmas,challenges and opportunities for the protection and development of the village were studied.Finally,ways of sustainable development of the vil age were discussed.

Protection and Development Strategies of Urban Ancient Cultural Remains and Its Surroundings——A Case Study of Mountain Haoli in Tai'an City

Urban historical and cultural heritage has been gradually formed in the long history, it is a witness of the city development history and a realistic carrier of the local civilization. However, protection of urban cultural heritage has been long neglected, with the rapid economic development and urbanization process, a lot of urban cultural heritage that bears important historical and cultural value had gone forever. Ancient cultural remains(ACRs) are an important type of urban cultural heritages, the renaissance of ACRs means the revival of the whole city, how to make ACRs in gradual decline state to be protected with proper planning and renewed vigor has great signifi cance to the urban development. Taking protection and development planning and design of ACRs in Mountain Haoli and its surroundings for example, this study put forward the objectives and principles of ACRs protection and development, extending and deepening the protection methods and renewal strategies, so as to achieve overall cultural, economic and spatial revival of urban ACRs, and sustainable development of ACRs.

Protection and Development of Traditional Villages from the Perspective of Territorial Spatial Planning:Taking Baisi Village,Henan Province as an Example

In the process of historical development,the history and culture of villages are constantly changing,and they have become a powerful carrier of cultural heritage.Taking Baisi Village,Xun County,Henan Province as an example,the basic principles and development mode of traditional village protection were studied from aspects of traditional space renovation,architectural features and folk culture protection in this article,with a view to providing reference for the protection and development of other traditional villages.

Research on the Problems and Development Countermeasures of Traditional Village Protection in Shangri-la:A Case Study of Mulu Village in Gezan Town

Traditional village is the most basic social space for the inheritance of China’s traditional culture,and the social space for the sustenance of nostalgia culture.The traditional village covering valuable tangible culture and intangible culture is a non-renewable traditional cultural heritage.However,with the further development of China’s urbanization,traditional villages and the traditional culture carried by traditional villages are gradually disappearing,under the influence of modern production method and lifestyle.How to balance the development of traditional villages with social development and progress has become a problem demanding prompt solution.Taking Mulu Village in Shangri-la City as the example,this paper analyzes the problems existing in the current status of traditional village conservation,and proposes the corresponding development strategies.

Analysis of Settlement Landscapes in Ancient Villages of Anyi County,Jiangxi Province of China

Forms and compositions of landscape elements in traditional spaces such as streets,lanes and plazas in ancient villages of Anyi County were studied.On the basis of investigating and analyzing current situation and problems of these ancient villages,difficulties in the development of ancient villages and improvement of living conditions as well as their contradictions with protection of ancient relics and cultures were explored,and corresponding protection principles and means proposed.It was stressed that the protection of landscape images in ancient villages of Anyi County should follow the principles of "protection first,reasonable development,integrated protection,valuing traditional cultures,encouraging the locals' participation",so as to create ancient villages with sustainable cultural traditions and favorable landscape images.

Survey on Farming Culture of Ancient Villages and Tourism Development: A Case Study of Hongjiang City in Hunan Province

The origin of human civilization is based on agriculture and settlement,and the ancient villages preserved up to now can be rated as " museum and historical library of rural lifestyle and rural culture",which are of important historical and cultural value. Through the field survey of farming culture resources of ancient villages in Hongjiang City of Hunan Province,this article classifies and evaluates the farming culture and ancient village resources,and sets forth the following recommendations for the development of ancient village tourism: strengthening the product differentiation development; focusing on the cultivation and integration of resources; enhancing the village environmental remediation.

The Research on Protection of Historical and Cultural Towns and Villages in China

After the discussion of the protection process and significance for historical and cultural towns and villages and the introduction of survey and theoretical researches on them,five modes had been divided for the protection of historical and cultural towns and villages in China,which were original appearance protection,renovated utilization protection,removal protection,antique imitation development and real estate development.It had pointed out problems existing in historical and cultural villages' protection,which were that policies and regulations were incomplete and protective measures were laggard;leaders decided blindly and neglected experts' opinions;immediate interest had been highlighted and sustainable development been overlooked,capitals were lacked and management was disordered,and the publicity was insufficient and the masses had no high protection consciousness.On this basis,it had discussed the protection of historical and cultural towns and villages in the future,emphasized the completion of regulatory system and management mechanism,enhance capital investment and publicity education,and deeply explore material cultural heritages and non-material cultural heritages in historical and cultural villages,finally further studying the theories and cases.

Rural Tourism Development of the Ancient Village in Guangxi Province—A Case Study of Yangmei Ancient Town of Nanning City

In view of current problems in rural tourism development of the ancient villages in Guangxi Province, and based on viewpoints of some scholars, the paper proposed some opinions and suggestions by a case study of how tourism development in Yangmei Town serving metropolitan construction of Nanning at Beibu Gulf.

Value Analysis and Protective Planning of Famous Historical and Cultural Villages: A Case Study of Ancient Sangyuan Village in Jishui County, Jiangxi Province

Through analyzing historical value of patriarchal society, village layout, and characteristic folk dwel ings in Ancient Sangyuan Village, Jishui County, Jiangxi Province, this paper proposed the protective planning based on the gist of protecting villagers' benefits, applied classified protection of buildings, enhanced water protection and landscape design, and tried to carry out its intangible cultures via folk custom activities, in order to further develop the value of its historical and cultural resources.

Resource Flows of Villages with Contrasting Lifestyles in Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve, Central Himalaya, India

Resource use efficiency analyses of village ecosystem are necessary for effective and efficient planning of resource utilization. This paper deals with economic and energy input-output analyses of different components of village ecosystem in representative buffer zone villages, which are practicing transhumance and settled way of lifestyles in Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve （NDBR） of Garhwal Himalaya. While the villages practicing transhumance used various natural resources spatially segregated,the villages practicing settled way of lifestyle have to manage resources from a limited spatial area through rotation and varied extraction intensities. Forests subsidized the production activity in both type of villages and the per capita resource extractions were found to be greater in tran^humance village than settled village. Though crops provided maximum energy, in terms of economic criteria, animal husbandry played important role in both settled and transhumance villages. As villages representing both the situations showed different ways of adjustments to the conservation oriented land use changes, management authority needs to address the eco-development plans fulfilling the aspirations of all people traditionally using the resources of the Reserve to reduce the conflicts and encourage their participation in the conservation of the area.

Exploration of the Protective Development Model of Ancient Towns in Metropolitan Suburbs: A Case Study of Xinchang Ancient Town in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai

The protection of ancient towns has become a crucial link in the coordinated regional development in China.On the basis of the field investigation,this paper took Xinchang Ancient Town in the Pudong New Area of Shanghai for example to analyze the existing problems in the protection and development of ancient towns,such as narrow economic base,loss of aboriginal culture and vague orientation of urban-rural function,and proposed a protective development model stressing the synergetic development of culture,economy and ecology.That model was designed to enhance local economic competitiveness through the multi-industry linkage,encourage the mass participation,reshape local cultural identity,improve regional ecological environment and optimize the function of Xinchang Ancient Town so that the protection of ancient towns is integrated into the top-level design of the regional comprehensive development.

Development of Villages in the Southern Dynasties under the Qi-Liang Culture

In the history of the development of Chinese culture, the Six Dynasties culture occupies an important position. Among them, Qi-Liang culture has achieved prosperous development in the fields of art, literature, science and technology, and is an important organic part of the Six Dynasties culture. The Southern Dynasty is an important historical stage in the development of villages in China. Taking Qi-Liang culture as the background, the scale, economy and organizational form of villages in the Southern Dynasty are studied. It is concluded that Qi-Liang culture has a positive and negative impacts on the development of villages in the Southern Dynasty, with a view to providing reference for the protection and utilization of ancient villages and culture.

Renascence of Agricultural Heritage Tourism from the Ecological Perspective: A Case Study of Longxian Village in Qingtian County

Agricultural heritage ecotourism is a newly emerging tourism type, thus there is no too much referential experience for its development. The plight that Longxian Village is facing in its protection and development was discussed, specifically, the contradictions among residents, economy and society; based on ecological concepts, local social and economic development was elaborated from four perspectives of economic activities, lifestyles, human and nature, development concepts. Finally, suggestions were given to help Longxian Village out of the difficulty in its ecotourism development in terms of establishing multi-party participation, making ecotourism planning, designing reasonable tourist products and constructing a complete eco-industrial chain.

Architectural Characteristics of Ancient Wufeng Town

Ancient Wufeng Town is the only one located in mountainous regions among all ancient towns under the protection of Chengdu City. Local architecture and its diversified cultural characteristics were explored through fi eld investigation, suggestions were given for its current protection and development.

Study on the Hollowization of Tourism Culture in Ancient Towns

Since the 1980s,as tourism products have developed in depth,As a new type of product,ancient town tourism has gradually been favored by tourists,thus forming a boom in the development of ancient town tourism.However,it is worrying that the“hollowing”of culture exposed in the development process has begun to hinder the sustainable development of tourism in ancient towns.Based on this,this paper expounds the ancient town culture,reveals the performance of the“hollowization”of ancient town culture,and puts forward the idea of ancient town cultural protection and development.
