Schizophrenia outcomes might be improved if greater therapeutic effort was focused on people with prodromal symptoms. To hasten help-seeking for schizophrenia, we developed a schizophrenia education program for families of patients. Help-seeking and schizophrenia attitudes and knowledge were analyzed among Japanese parents (666 fathers and 613 mothers) of high school students by using the Social Distance Scale-Japanese version, the Link Devaluation-Discrimination Measure and our own questions on help-seeking and schizophrenia knowledge. Statistical analysis included cross-tabulation, the χ2 test, and multiple regression analysis. Most (97.5%) fathers were aged 40 - 59 years;most (78.3%) mothers were aged 40 - 49 years. There was a significant difference between fathers and mothers in basic knowledge of schizophrenia (P < 0.001);however, fathers and mothers did not significantly differ in their attitudes toward schizophrenia (P > 0.05). When asked what treatment they would seek for a child with sleeplessness or social withdrawal, fathers and mothers significantly differed in seeking help medical care at a department of psychosomatic medicine (P < 0.05) and in seeking help from the nurse at their child’s school (P < 0.001). Fathers and mothers also differed in relation to the decision not to seek help (P < 0.001). Multiple regression analysis revealed that basic knowledge significantly differed between fathers and mothers (P = 0.001). In an analysis of parental response to a child with sleepiness and social withdrawal, multiple regression analysis revealed that fathers and mothers significantly differed in the likelihood of seeking help at a department of psychosomatic medicine and from a school nurse and in the likelihood of not seeking help (P < 0.05, P = 0.001 and P = 0.001, respectively). In conclusion, help-seeking behavior differed between Japanese fathers and mothers. These findings should assist in developing schizophrenia education programs that aim to hasten intervention.展开更多

Method: Randomly select 112 students from two classes (2016) who are expected to enter undergraduate schools from junior colleges in a medical school in Pingdingshan, and divide them into a control group and an experimental group using a method of cluster randomization. In the teaching process of "Nursing Psychology", the control group and the experimental group respectively adopted the traditional teaching mode and the PAD class teaching mode. After the implementation of one semester, compare the nursing students' learning attitudes change before and after the implementation. Results: The scores of the nursing students in the experimental group at the three latitudes of learning interests, learning habits, and professional cognition were significantly higher than those of the control group, and the differences have statistical significance (P<0.05). Conclusions: PAD class teaching mode helps improve nursing students' learning attitudes.展开更多

The aim of this cross-sectional study was to compare attitudes towards psychiatric medication and concordance in medicine taking between medical and psychology students, as they represent future members of mental health teams. Two hundred and sixteen medical students and 222 psychology students completed the Leeds Attitudes toward Concordance scale (LATCon) and the Beliefs about Medication Questionnaire (BMQ) (both adapted for psychiatric medication). Psychology students saw psychiatric medicines as more harmful and were also most likely to believe that psychiatrists overprescribed these medicines. They also scored higher than medical students on attitudes towards concordance, although this difference remained at the limit of statistical significance.展开更多

This tendency is in favor of more attention to religion for treatment of mental health, thought and mental disorders. The type of researches: this research is a correlation and post-event (causative) which has done with the purpose of studying the relationship between religious attitudes with attachment styles for the students. So a sample of 60 students of humanitarian sciences majors at the Islamic Azad University of Neyshabour randomly selected classical (according to the results of attachment style inventory, completed by 150 students). The religious attitudes of subjects were tested by Alport religious orientation inventory and their attachment style by Shiver and Hezen’s adult attachment test and were tested according to the results of descriptive and inferential statistics methods. The results of research indicated that for the subjects which have safe attachment style, their religious attitudes are internal. For the subjects which have unsafe attachment style (evidential, ambivalent), their religious attitudes are external. And also the subjects with ambivalent unsafe attachment style have internal religious attitudes in comparison with evidential unsafe attached persons. So, it can be said person’s attachment style is affected by their religious attitudes. As related to the attained results and comparing them with the results of past researches, it can be said that people with internal religious orientation and safe attached persons have confidence in others (especially to themselves) because of some personal characteristics. So, there is no reason for fear or for connivance of what they want and naturally will have an attitude which is needless to show pretension and hypocrisy. As a result, their religious attitude score in internal scale is more than external scale.展开更多
