文摘In this editorial we comment on the article titled“Inflammatory bowel diseases patients suffer from significant low levels and barriers to physical activity:The BE-FIT-IBD study”published in a recent issue of the World Journal of Gastroen-terology 2023;29(41):5668-5682.Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD)are emerging as a significant global health concern as their incidence continues to rise on a global scale, with detrimental impacts on quality of life. While many advances have been made regarding the management of the disease, physical inactivity in these patients represents an underexplored issue that may hold the key for further and better understanding the ramifications of IBD.Chronic pain, fatigue, and fear of exacerbating symptoms promotes physical inactivity among IBD patients, while the lack of clear guidelines on safe exercise regimens contributes to a norm of physical inactivity.Physical activity(PA)is accepted to have a positive effect on disease outcomes and quality of life, while inactivity exacerbates comorbidities like cardiovascular disease and mental health disorders.The“BE-FIT-IBD”study,focusing on PA levels and barriers in IBD patients of Southern Italy, revealed that a significant proportion(42.9%)were physically inactive. This lack of PA is attributed to barriers such as fear of flare-ups and misconceptions about exercise exacerbating the disease. The study also highlighted the need for better communication between healthcare providers and patients regarding the benefits of PA and safe incorporation into lifestyles. Moreover, physical inactivity may also contribute to disability in IBD patients, having a great impact on employment status.Of note is the fact that IBD also comes with an important psychological burden with relevant evidence suggesting that regular PA can improve mood, reduce anxiety, and enhance mental health.The“BE-FIT-IBD”study advocated for the integration of PA into IBD management, emphasizing the bidirectional link between PA and IBD.Regular exercise can influence the course of IBD,potentially reducing symptom severity and prolonging remission periods. As such,it is mandatory that healthcare providers actively educate patients, dispel misconceptions, and tailor exercise recommendations to improve the quality of life and reduce IBD-related complications.
文摘BACKGROUND Depression has gradually become a common psychological disorder among children and adolescents.Depression in children and adolescents affects their physical and mental development.Psychotherapy is considered to be one of the main treatment options for depressed children and adolescents. However, our understanding of the global performance and progress of psychological interventions for depression in children and adolescents(PIDCA)research is limited.AIM To identify collaborative research networks in this field and explore the current research status and hotspots through bibliometrics.METHODS Articles and reviews related to PIDCA from January 2010 to April 2023 were identified from the Web of Science Core Collection database. The Charticulator website,CiteSpace and VOSviewer software were used to visualize the trends in publications and citations, the collaborative research networks(countries, institutions, and authors),and the current research status and hotspots.RESULTS Until April 16,2023,1482 publications were identified. The number of documents published each year and citations had increased rapidly in this field. The United States had the highest productivity in this field. The most prolific institution was the University of London.Pim Cuijpers was the most prolific author. In the context of research related to PIDCA,both reference co-citation analysis and keywords co-occurrence analysis identified 10 research hotspots, including thirdwave cognitive behavior therapy,short-term psychoanalytic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral analysis system of psychotherapy, family element in psychotherapy, modular treatment,mobile-health,emotion-regulation-based transdiagnostic intervention program, dementia risk in later life, predictors of the efficacy of psychological intervention, and risks of psychological intervention.CONCLUSION This bibliometric study provides a comprehensive overview of PIDCA from 2010 to present.Psychological intervention characterized as psychological-process-focused,short,family-involved,modular,internet-based,emotionregulation-based,and personalized may benefit more young people.
文摘BACKGROUND Healthcare workers(HCWs)are at increased risk of contracting coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)as well as worsening mental health problems and insomnia. These problems can persist for a long period, even after the pandemic. However, less is known about this topic.AIM To analyze mental health, insomnia problems, and their influencing factors in HCWs after the COVID-19 pandemic.METHODS This multicenter cross-sectional,hospital-based study was conducted from June 1,2023 to June 30,2023,which was a half-year after the end of the COVID-19 emergency.Region-stratified population-based cluster sampling was applied at the provincial level for Chinese HCWs.Symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and insomnia were evaluated by the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7,Patient Health Questionnaire-9,and Insomnia Severity Index.Factors influencing the symptoms were identified by multivariable logistic regression.RESULTS A total of 2000 participants were invited, for a response rate of 70.6%.A total of 1412 HCWs[618(43.8%)doctors,583(41.3%)nurses and 211(14.9%)nonfrontline],254(18.0%),231(16.4%),and 289(20.5%)had symptoms of anxiety, depression, and insomnia, respectively;severe symptoms were found in 58(4.1%),49(3.5%),and 111(7.9%)of the participants.Nurses, female sex,and hospitalization for COVID-19 were risk factors for anxiety, depression, and insomnia symptoms;moreover, death from family or friends was a risk factor for insomnia symptoms.During the COVID-19 outbreak,most[1086(76.9%)]of the participating HCWs received psychological interventions, while nearly all[994(70.4%)]of them had received public psychological education.Only 102(7.2%)of the HCWs received individual counseling from COVID-19.CONCLUSION Although the mental health and sleep problems of HCWs were relieved after the COVID-19 pandemic, they still faced challenges and greater risks than did the general population.Identifying risk factors would help in providing targeted interventions. In addition, although a major proportion of HCWs have received public psychological education, individual interventions are still insufficient.

文摘Background:Emerging adulthood is a pivotal life stage, presenting significant psychological and social changes, such as decreased sociability, depression, and other mental health problems.Previous studies have associated these changes with an unhealthy lifestyle. The 24-h movement guidelines for healthy lifestyles have been developed to promote appropriate health behaviors and improve individual wellness. However, the relationship between adherence to the 24-h movement guidelines and different characteristics of Chinese emerging adults is yet to be explored. This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the association between adherence to the 24-h movement guidelines and four characteristics(self-exploration,instability,possibilities,and responsibility)of Chinese emerging adults.Methods:Overall,1,510 Chinese emerging adults aged 18–29 years were included in this study. Each participant completed a self-administered questionnaire that included questions on adherence to the 24-h movement guidelines(physical activity, sedentary behavior, and sleep)and the inventory of dimensions of emerging adulthood.Multivariable logistic regression analysis was employed to investigate the associations between adherence to the 24-h movement guidelines and each of the four characteristics. Results:The proportion of participants who adhered to the 24-h movement guidelines was 31.72%.Multiple regression analysis revealed a significantly negative relationship between adhering to more guidelines and instability(β=−0.51,p<0.001).A statistically significant association was observed between instability and meeting only sedentary behavior(β=−1.27,95%confidence interval[CI]:[−2.32,−0.24],p=0.02),sedentary behavior+sleep(β=−1.30,95%CI:[−2.24,−0.35],p<0.01),and physical activity+sedentary behavior(β=−1.08,95%CI:[1.94,−0.21],p=0.02)guidelines.Further,positive and significant associations were observed between possibilities and meeting the guidelines for only physical activity(β=0.70,95%CI:[0.14,1.27),p=0.01),only sleep(β=0.61,95%CI:[0.01,1.21],p=0.04),physical activity+sedentary behavior(β=0.56,95%CI:[0.04,1.07),p=0.01),and physical activity+sleep(β=0.76,95%CI:[0.23,1.27],p=0.01).Conclusions:These findings suggest that adherence to the 24-h movement guidelines was associated with instability in Chinese emerging adults.Future studies are warranted to verify our findings to highlight the importance of maintaining a heath lifestyle to promote health in emerging adulthood.
文摘Helping athletes return to sports participation is a primary goal of anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)reconstruction rehabilitation. To facilitate the achievement of this goal, decades of research studies have sought to identify knee impairments that reduce knee function as well as interventions to resolve them.1Yet,over the past 10 years, research pertaining to psychological responses(i.e.,cognitions and emotions)after ACL reconstruction has grown exponentially—a phenomenon that can be visualized by entering the search terms"psychological"and"anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction"into the PubMed search engine.
文摘Epidemiological studies showed that night workers are at higher risk of developing chronic metabolic diseases. However,no study has investigated the changes in circadian rhythms caused by a combined effect of sleep and diet in a real-life setting on cardiometabolic health, gut microbiota, and psychological status in healthy people.A 4-week step-wise misaligned-realigned controlled-feeding trial with a 2×2 factorial design(sleep and diet)was conducted on healthy young adults. At first, subjects experienced a one-week circadian rhythm misalignment with a high-fat fast-food diet, extended eating window, and delayed sleep schedules, then gradually transited to a complete circadian rhythm realignment with a high-fiber balanced diet,8-h timerestricted eating, and normal sleep schedules.Circadian rhythm misalignment led to significantly higher levels of fasting glucose and homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance(HOMA-IR)of subjects compared to baseline and failed to recover to the baseline level in circadian rhythm realignments.Notably, the incremental area under the curve(iAUC)of postprandial glucose decreased with circadian rhythm adjustments as compared to that in circadian rhythm misalignment, suggesting circadian rhythm realignment by sleep or/and diet could partly restore glucose metabolism impaired by a short-term circadian rhythm misalignment. However, circadian rhythm changes did not result in overall perturbations of gut microbiota diversities.
文摘BACKGROUND Gastric cancer is a malignant digestive tract tumor that originates from the epithelium of the gastric mucosa and occurs in the gastric antrum, particularly in the lower curvature of the stomach.AIM To evaluate the impact of a positive web-based psychological intervention on emotions, psychological capital, and quality of survival in gastric cancer patients on chemotherapy.METHODS From January 2020 to October 2023,121 cases of gastric cancer patients on chemotherapy admitted to our hospital were collected and divided into a control group(n=60)and an observation group(n=61)according to the admission order. They were given either conventional nursing care alone and conventional nursing care combined with web-based positive psychological interventions, respectively. The two groups were compared in terms of negative emotions, psychological capital, degree of cancer-caused fatigue, and quality of survival.RESULTS After intervention, the number of patients in the observation group who had negative feelings toward chemotherapy treatment was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05);the Positive Psychological Capital Questionnaire score was considerably higher than that of the control group(P<0.05);the degree of cancer-caused fatigue was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05);and the Quality of Life Scale for Cancer Patients(QLQ-30)score was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Implementing a web-based positive psychological intervention for gastric cancer chemotherapy patients can effectively improve negative emotions, enhance psychological capital, and improve the quality of survival.

文摘As critical conduits for the dissemination of online public opinion, social media platforms offer a timely and effective means for managing emergencies during major disasters, such as earthquakes. This study focuses on the analysis of online public opinions following the Maduo M7.4 earthquake in Qinghai Province and the Yangbi M6.4 earthquake in Yunnan Province.By collecting, cleaning, and organizing post-earthquake Sina Weibo(short for Weibo)data,we employed the Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA)model to extract information pertinent to public opinion on these earthquakes. This analysis included a comparison of the nature and temporal evolution of online public opinions related to both events. An emotion analysis, utilizing an emotion dictionary, categorized the emotional content of post-earthquake Weibo posts, facilitating a comparative study of the characteristics and temporal trends of online public emotions following the earthquakes. The findings were visualized using Geographic Information System(GIS)techniques. The analysis revealed certain commonalities in online public opinion following both earthquakes.Notably, the peak of online engagement occurred within the first 24 hours post-earthquake,with a rapid decline observed between 24 to 48 hours thereafter. The variation in popularity of online public opinion was linked to aftershock occurrences.Adjusted for population factors, online engagement in areas surrounding the earthquake sites and in Sichuan Province was significantly high.Initially dominated by feelings of“fear”and“surprise”,the public sentiment shifted towards a more positive outlook with the onset of rescue operations. However, distinctions in the online public response to each earthquake were also noted.Following the Yangbi earthquake,Yunnan Province reported the highest number of Weibo posts nationwide;in contrast,Qinghai Province ranked third post-Maduo earthquake, attributable to its smaller population size and extensive damage to communication infrastructure. This research offers a methodological approach for the analysis of online public opinion related to earthquakes, providing insights for the enhancement of post-disaster emergency management and public mental health support.

文摘Patients with hematological tumors experience physical and psychological stress, and negative psychological states.Baduanjin,an emerging psychological rehabil-itation method combined with resistance exercise, has received widespread attention. This study reviews the current status of the application of Baduanjin combined with resistance exercise in improving the negative psychological state of patients with hematological tumors and discusses its problems and prospects.Through a literature review and comprehensive analysis, the application of Baduanjin and resistance exercise in the psychological rehabilitation of patients with hematological tumors was identified and evaluated. The results showed that Baduanjin with resistance exercise had a positive effect on improving negative psychological states of patients with hematological tumors, which can alleviate anxiety, depression, and other adverse emotions, and improve quality of life. However, there is a lack of unified and standardized exercise intervention programs for practical application, and patient participation and compliance must be improved.Baduanjin combined with resistance exercise can potentially improve the negative psychological status of patients with hematological tumors;however,it is still necessary to further standardize and improve the exercise program improving patient participation and compliance.Future studies should strengthen theoretical exploration and empirical research, providing more effective psychological rehabilitation strategies for patients with hematological tumors.
文摘BACKGROUND Epilepsy is a nervous system disease characterized by recurrent attacks,a long disease course, and an unfavorable prognosis. It is associated with an enduring therapeutic process, and finding a cure has been difficult.Patients with epilepsy are predisposed to adverse moods, such as resistance, anxiety, nervousness, and anxiety, which compromise treatment compliance and overall efficacy.AIM To explored the influence of intensive psychological intervention on treatment compliance, psychological status, and quality of life(QOL)of patients with epilepsy.METHODS The clinical data of 105 patients with epilepsy admitted between December 2019 and July 2023 were retrospectively analyzed, including those of 50 patients who underwent routine intervention(control group)and 55 who underwent intensive psychological intervention(research group).Treatment compliance, psychological status based on the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)and Depression Scale Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)scores, hope level assessed using the Herth Hope Scale(HHS),psychological resilience evaluated using the Psychological Resilience Scale, and QOL determined using the QOL in Epilepsy-31 Inventory(QOLIE-31)were comparatively analyzed.RESULTS Treatment compliance in the research group was 85.5%,which is significantly better than the 68.0%of the control group. No notable intergroup differences in preinterventional SAS and SDS scores were identified(P>0.05);however,after the intervention, the SAS and SDS scores decreased significantly in the two groups, especially in the research group(P<0.05).The two groups also exhibited no significant differences in preinterventional HHS,Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC),and QOLIE-31 scores(P>0.05).After 6 months of intervention, the research group showed evidently higher HHS,CD-RISC,tenacity,optimism,strength,and QOLIE-31 scores(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Intensive psychological intervention enhances treatment compliance, psychological status, and QOL of patients with epilepsy.
文摘Pain in chronic pancreatitis(CP)is difficult to manage. Many patients suffer from inadequate pain relief, completely incapacitating them in their daily activities.Historically, despite their well-known adverse effects, opioids have been the pillar of treatment regimens in painful CP.The management is now gradually evolving with a better understanding of the underlying pathophysiology of CP-related pain.Clinicians should follow a holistic approach to the management of CPassociated pain, which must involve lifestyle changes that are coupled with analgesic medications and other pain-relieving interventions.Furthermore, there is no easy cure for vanquishing CP-associated pain. Each patient must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by a multidisciplinary team to decide which treatment option is best suited for that individual.
文摘BACKGROUND Both pulmonary rehabilitation training and psychological care have been shown to have a positive effect on the postoperative recovery of patients with lung cancer. However, few studies have combined the two to explore their combined effect. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of pulmonary rehabil-itation training combined with psychological care on postoperative respiratory function and mental health in lung cancer patients.AIM To investigate effect of nursing on postoperative respiratory function and mental health of lung cancer patients.METHODS 122 cases of lung cancer patients who underwent surgical treatment in our hospital and were treated in our department from January 2022 to April 2023 were selected and randomly divided into the control group and observation group. The control group performed the routine care intervention. The obser-vation group was given pulmonary rehabilitation training and psychological care based on conventional nursing interventions.Forced expiratory volume, forced vital capacity.Maximum ventilatory volume(MVV)in one second was measured, and the patient's 6-min walking distance and dyspnoea index scale were used to assess the patient's respiratory condition. The Connor-Davidson resilience scale(CD-RISC),self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),and self-rating depression scale(SDS)were used to evaluate the mental health of the patients.RESULTS There was no difference between the two groups regarding age, gender, education level, surgical procedure, type of pathology, and treatment(P>0.05).After treatment,MVV,6-min walking distance, toughness, strength, optimism, and total CD-RISC scores were significantly higher in the observation group(P<0.05),dyspnoea scores,SAS,and SDS scores were substantially lower in the control group compared to the observation group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Pulmonary rehabilitation training combined with psychological care for patients after lung cancer resection could improve lung function, enhance daily activities, effectively relieve negative emotions such as anxiety and depression, and reduce complications.
文摘Aims:We aimed to compare cancer survivors’fatigue expression with that of the general population and examine psychobiological factors associated with fatigue.Procedure:In this quantitative, transversal study,we analyzed clinical and sociodemographic indicators of 389 participants(68.38%females):148 cancer survivors on active treatment,55 disease-free survivors,75 patients with another chronic disease, and 111 healthy individuals. Results:Fatigue was expressed dissimilarly in patients with a previous history of cancer and participants without a history of cancer.Survivors on active treatment reported significantly higher levels of fatigue than the other clinical status groups.Nonetheless, some level of cancer-related fatigue persisted,in a similar pattern, after active treatment into the survivorship phase.Disease-free survivors showed significantly lower vigor levels when compared to patients with other chronic diseases.Psychological distress and daytime sleepiness emerged as transdiagnostic factors associated with fatigue.Conclusion:Cancer-related fatigue may have a unique pattern, characterized by reduced endurance and muscle weakness. In the present study, psychological distress and daytime sleepiness are associated with cancer-related fatigue. These findings suggest the pertinence of future studies examining whether interventions targeting those factors may help manage this burdensome complaint.
