BACKGROUND An association between cardiorespiratory fitness(CRF)and insulin resistance in obese adolescents,especially in those with various obesity categories,has not been systematically studied.There is a lack of kn...BACKGROUND An association between cardiorespiratory fitness(CRF)and insulin resistance in obese adolescents,especially in those with various obesity categories,has not been systematically studied.There is a lack of knowledge about the effects of CRF on insulin resistance in severely obese adolescents,despite their continuous rise.AIM To investigate the association between CRF and insulin resistance in obese adolescents,with special emphasis on severely obese adolescents.METHODS We performed a prospective,cross-sectional study that included 200 pubertal adolescents,10 years to 18 years of age,who were referred to a tertiary care center due to obesity.According to body mass index(BMI),adolescents were classified as mildly obese(BMI 100% to 120% of the 95^(th)percentile for age and sex)or severely obese(BMI≥120% of the 95^(th)percentile for age and sex or≥35 kg/m^(2),whichever was lower).Participant body composition was assessed by bioelectrical impedance analysis.A homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR)was calculated.Maximal oxygen uptake(VO_(2)max)was determined from submaximal treadmill exercise test.CRF was expressed as VO_(2)max scaled by total body weight(TBW)(mL/min/kg TBW)or by fat free mass(FFM)(mL/min/kg FFM),and then categorized as poor,intermediate,or good,according to VO_(2)max terciles.Data were analyzed by statistical software package SPSS(IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows,Version 24.0).P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.RESULTS A weak negative correlation between CRF and HOMA-IR was found[Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient(rs)=-0.28,P<0.01 for CRF_(TBW);(r_(s))=-0.21,P<0.01 for CRF_(FFM)].One-way analysis of variance(ANOVA)revealed a significant main effect of CRF on HOMA-IR[F(2200)=6.840,P=0.001 for CRF_(TBW);F_((2200))=3.883,P=0.022 for CRF_(FFM)].Subsequent analyses showed that obese adolescents with poor CRF had higher HOMA-IR than obese adolescents with good CRF(P=0.001 for CRF_(TBW);P=0.018 for CRF_(FFM)).Two-way ANOVA with Bonferroni correction confirmed significant effect of interaction of CRF level and obesity category on HOMA-IR[F_((2200))=3.292,P=0.039 for CRF_(TBW)].Severely obese adolescents had higher HOMA-IR than those who were mildly obese,with either good or poor CRF.However,HOMA-IR did not differ between severely obese adolescents with good and mildly obese adolescents with poor CRF.CONCLUSION CRF is an important determinant of insulin resistance in obese adolescents,regardless of obesity category.Therefore,CRF assessment should be a part of diagnostic procedure,and its improvement should be a therapeutic goal.展开更多

However, the abusive and u...Food additives, whether natural or artificial substances, are widely used around the world to improve the sensory quality of products, extend their shelf life and make them more competitive. However, the abusive and uncontrolled consumption of food additives is the cause of numerous illnesses and diseases such as poisoning, allergies, diabetes and numerous cancers. So, in addition to setting up control and regulatory bodies, it is becoming essential to keep a constant watch on the presence of food additives on the market. The aim of this study is to highlight the main categories of food additives in food products frequently sold on the Senegalese market. The methodology of the study is based on the identification of food additives from the information given on the labels of food packaging. Information was collected in markets in two (2) major regions of Senegal: Dakar and Saint-Louis. The results of our study show the presence of 153 food additives on the labels of 514 samples collected. Moreover, the frequency and diversity of additives depended on the food category. On the other hand, beyond their important technological and functional roles, some additives such as aspartame and monosodium glutamate have been implicated in pathologies, and others, such as titanium dioxide, are the subject of much controversy and even withdrawal in certain legislations for their impacts deemed potentially negative on consumer health.展开更多

In this paper a critical annotated checklist of 256 endemic and near endemic species belonging to 152 genera and 50 families of flowering plants known from Hyrcanian relict forests is presented.Distribution maps of ta...In this paper a critical annotated checklist of 256 endemic and near endemic species belonging to 152 genera and 50 families of flowering plants known from Hyrcanian relict forests is presented.Distribution maps of taxa,elevational range,number of known records,chorotypes,life forms,IUCN threat categories and habitat types are also provided.The chorotypes are categorized into eight main patterns:1)the Omni-Hyrcanian pattern(OH),2)West Hyrcanian pattern(WH),3)Manjil-Rudbar pattern(MR),4)Central Hyrcanian pattern(CH),5)Central and East Hyrcanian pattern(CEH),6)East Hyrcanian pattern(EH),7)Alborz-Hyrcanian pattern(AH),and 8)Euxino-Hyrcanian pattern(XH).The richness and distribution maps were generated based on 5408 records gained from herbarium specimens and literature records.The life form spectra show that the majority of taxa(54.7%)belong to hemicryptophytes,followed by the tuberous,bulbous and parasitic geophytes with 45 species(17.6%)and phanerophytes with 28 taxa(10.9%).The conservation status of species according to IUCN criteria indicates that 30 taxa are Critically Endangered,52 taxa Endangered,30 taxa Vulnerable,25 taxa Near Threatened and 81 taxa are of Least Concern.Our present data were not sufficient to evaluate 38 taxa that are categorized here as Data Deficient.The new combination of Leutea translucens(=Peucedanum translucens)is validated with inclusion of Peucedanum hyrcanicum as its synonym.The disjunct occurrence of the Caucasian species Gentiana grossheimii is reported from the eastern parts of the Hyrcanian forests in Iran for the first time.We conclude that(i)the Hyrcanian forests and associated habitats in the northern slopes of the Alborz Mountains harbour tremendous floristic diversity of high conservation priority,and(ii)the Hyrcanian forest zone is an important and unique center of endemism within the Euro-Siberian region that should be considered a floristic province with a large number of relict species.展开更多

At the macro level, it locates the holistic perspectives including education, suzhi and development. The middle level focuses on the collective activities of pedagogy, basically including teaching, curriculum and examination. At the micro level, individuality of pedagogy is emphasized, covering learning, knowledge and thinking. Pedagogy is an independent subject and hence has core categories of its own. To discuss the meanings of each category, the author employs the scientific methodology of dialectics and systems, as well as puts forward specific methods for each of them. That other disciplines should be applied to pedagogy by no means implies the marginalization of pedagogy. Along with the development of pedagogy, the number of core categories may increase or decrease, meanwhile, the structures and meanings of the categories may change correspondingly. As determined in multiple studies, particulate matter equal to or less than 2.5 μrn also called breathable fraction is the one that penetrates the inferior respiratory system. The present study shows the results of a sampling campaign of particulate matter PM25 through 12 months at 3 sites: C33 (Clinic 33), CIM (CIMAV) and A VA (Avalos) at Chihuahua, Mexico. The aim of this study was to determine the temporary concentrations of PM25, the concentration of metallic elements: Al, As, Co, Cu, Sb, Se, Fe, Mg, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn, as well as their possible sources. The three sites had the same trend in the time, where in autumn and winter the higher concentrations were found. The yearly averages on sites C33, CIM, and AVA were 9.91, 12.74 and 21.67 μg·m^-3, respectively, finding that AVA site overpasses the standard of 15 μg·m^-3. The application of factor analysis to the data allowed to identify four source categories: crustal, related with Al-Co-Fe-Mg-Mn, vehicular, related with: As-Cu-Sb-Se; mixed, related with: As-Cu-Sb-Se-Pb-Zn and industrial related with Ni-Pb.展开更多

文摘In this paper a critical annotated checklist of 256 endemic and near endemic species belonging to 152 genera and 50 families of flowering plants known from Hyrcanian relict forests is presented.Distribution maps of taxa,elevational range,number of known records,chorotypes,life forms,IUCN threat categories and habitat types are also provided.The chorotypes are categorized into eight main patterns:1)the Omni-Hyrcanian pattern(OH),2)West Hyrcanian pattern(WH),3)Manjil-Rudbar pattern(MR),4)Central Hyrcanian pattern(CH),5)Central and East Hyrcanian pattern(CEH),6)East Hyrcanian pattern(EH),7)Alborz-Hyrcanian pattern(AH),and 8)Euxino-Hyrcanian pattern(XH).The richness and distribution maps were generated based on 5408 records gained from herbarium specimens and literature records.The life form spectra show that the majority of taxa(54.7%)belong to hemicryptophytes,followed by the tuberous,bulbous and parasitic geophytes with 45 species(17.6%)and phanerophytes with 28 taxa(10.9%).The conservation status of species according to IUCN criteria indicates that 30 taxa are Critically Endangered,52 taxa Endangered,30 taxa Vulnerable,25 taxa Near Threatened and 81 taxa are of Least Concern.Our present data were not sufficient to evaluate 38 taxa that are categorized here as Data Deficient.The new combination of Leutea translucens(=Peucedanum translucens)is validated with inclusion of Peucedanum hyrcanicum as its synonym.The disjunct occurrence of the Caucasian species Gentiana grossheimii is reported from the eastern parts of the Hyrcanian forests in Iran for the first time.We conclude that(i)the Hyrcanian forests and associated habitats in the northern slopes of the Alborz Mountains harbour tremendous floristic diversity of high conservation priority,and(ii)the Hyrcanian forest zone is an important and unique center of endemism within the Euro-Siberian region that should be considered a floristic province with a large number of relict species.

Instead of "beauty," "charm" is the central category in Chinese painting, presenting a different aesthetic system from that in the western world.
文摘This article starts from the perspective of great education, lifetime suzhi education,(suzhi translates directly as quality) and puts forward nine core categories of pedagogy at three different levels. At the macro level, it locates the holistic perspectives including education, suzhi and development. The middle level focuses on the collective activities of pedagogy, basically including teaching, curriculum and examination. At the micro level, individuality of pedagogy is emphasized, covering learning, knowledge and thinking. Pedagogy is an independent subject and hence has core categories of its own. To discuss the meanings of each category, the author employs the scientific methodology of dialectics and systems, as well as puts forward specific methods for each of them. That other disciplines should be applied to pedagogy by no means implies the marginalization of pedagogy. Along with the development of pedagogy, the number of core categories may increase or decrease, meanwhile, the structures and meanings of the categories may change correspondingly. The selection of core categories is not the only option. Consequently, the theory of pedagogy cannot possibly be exclusive.

文摘Suspended particles in the air are pollutants formed by diverse materials and sizes. As determined in multiple studies, particulate matter equal to or less than 2.5 μrn also called breathable fraction is the one that penetrates the inferior respiratory system. The present study shows the results of a sampling campaign of particulate matter PM25 through 12 months at 3 sites: C33 (Clinic 33), CIM (CIMAV) and A VA (Avalos) at Chihuahua, Mexico. The aim of this study was to determine the temporary concentrations of PM25, the concentration of metallic elements: Al, As, Co, Cu, Sb, Se, Fe, Mg, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn, as well as their possible sources. The three sites had the same trend in the time, where in autumn and winter the higher concentrations were found. The yearly averages on sites C33, CIM, and AVA were 9.91, 12.74 and 21.67 μg·m^-3, respectively, finding that AVA site overpasses the standard of 15 μg·m^-3. The application of factor analysis to the data allowed to identify four source categories: crustal, related with Al-Co-Fe-Mg-Mn, vehicular, related with: As-Cu-Sb-Se; mixed, related with: As-Cu-Sb-Se-Pb-Zn and industrial related with Ni-Pb.
