A novel carbon-based film could be a feasible way to overcome this drawback. In this study, a rare earth Ce-modified(Ti,Ce)/a-C:H carbon-based film is successfully prepared on WC cemented carbide using a DC reactive magnetron sputtering process. The microstructure, mechanical properties, and tribological behavior of the as-prepared carbon-based film are systematically investigated. The results show that the doping Ti forms Ti C nanocrystallites that are uniformly dispersed in the amorphous carbon matrix, whereas the doping Ce forms CeO2 that exists with the amorphous phase in the co-doped(Ti,Ce)/a-C:H carbon-based film. The mechanical properties of this(Ti,Ce)/a-C:H film exhibit remarkable improvements, which could suggest higher hardness and elastic modulus as well as better adhesive strength compared to solitary Ti-doped Ti/a-C:H film. In particular, the as-prepared(Ti,Ce)/a-C:H film presents a relatively low friction coefficient and wear rate in both ambient air and deionized water, indicating that(Ti,Ce)/a-C:H film could feasibly improve the tribological performance of WC cemented carbide in a water environment.展开更多

One profile showed slight REE enrichment of an upper layer and no obvious light REE/heavy REE(LREE/HREE) fractionation(La_N/Yb_N of 0.9). The second profile was significantly enriched in REEs and enriched in LREEs in the upper portion(La_N/Yb_N>1.8). Eu, Ce, and Gd anomalies of the two profiles are different. Slightly negative Eu, Ce, and Gd anomalies in NMG-3-1 indicate slow dissolution of primary minerals and little secondary products; in contrast, a positive Eu anomaly in HN-2 suggests the vegetation cycle may contribute to soil. The Ce anomaly of HN-2 reflects oxidation of Ce and coprecipitation by Fe-and Mn-oxides and organic matter. Correlation between Ce and Gd anomalies in HN-2 suggests Ce and Gd are both influenced by redoxreduction.展开更多

The effect of the coatings on corrosion behaviors of composites was investigated by electrochemical polarization technology and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in 3.5% NaCl solution. The higher Ecorr and lower icorr were obtained by Ce conversion coatings. EIS results showed that the higher values of R2 were obtained by treatment containing CeCl3, the high corrosion resistance occured in treatment containing CeCl3, the low corrosion resistance in uncoating sample, the coating of treatment containing Ce(NO3)3 was medium. The microstructure of Ce conversion coatings was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the elements of corresponding for coatings was characterized by energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). The micro-cracks and Ce-riched spherical particles were characteristics of these coatings.展开更多
