Reversible solid oxide cell(RSOC)is a new energy conversion device with significant applications, especially for power grid peaking shaving. However, the reversible conversion process of power generation/energy storage poses challenges for the performance and stability of air electrodes. In this work,a novel high-entropy perovskite oxide La_(0.2)Pr_(0.2)Gd_(0.2)Sm_(0.2)Sr_(0.2)Co_(0.8)Fe_(0.2)O_(3−δ)(HE-LSCF)is proposed and investigated as an air electrode in RSOC.The electrochemical behavior of HE-LSCF was studied as an air electrode in both fuel cell and electrolysis modes. The polarization impedance(Rp)of the HE-LSCF electrode is only 0.25Ω·cm^(2) at 800℃ in an air atmosphere.Notably,at an electrolytic voltage of 2 V and a temperature of 800℃,the current density reaches up to 1.68 A/cm^(2).The HE-LSCF air electrode exhibited excellent reversibility and stability, and its electrochemical performance remains stable after 100 h of reversible operation. With these advantages,HE-LSCF is shown to be an excellent air electrode for RSOC. 展开更多

Developing efficient and stable cathodes for low-temperature solid oxide fuel cells(LT-SOFCs) is of great importance for the practical commercialization.Herein,we propose a series of Sm-modified Bi_(0.7-x)Sm_xSr_(0.3)FeO_(3-δ) perovskites as highly-active catalysts for LT-SOFCs.Sm doping can significantly enhance the electrocata lytic activity and chemical stability of cathode. At 600℃,Bi_(0.675)Sm_(0.025)Sr_(0.3)FeO_(3-δ)(BSSF25) cathode has been found to be the optimum composition with a polarization resistance of 0.098 Ω cm^2,which is only around 22.8% of Bi_(0.7)Sr_(0.3)FeO_(3-δ)(BSF).A full cell utilizing BSSF25 displays an exceptional output density of 790 mW cm^(-2),which can operate continuously over100 h without obvious degradation. The remarkable electrochemical performance observed can be attributed to the improved O_(2) transport kinetics, superior surface oxygen adsorption capacity,as well as O_(2)p band centers in close proximity to the Fermi level. Moreover, larger average bonding energy(ABE) and the presence of highly acidic Bi,Sm,and Fe ions restrict the adsorption of CO_(2) on the cathode surface, resulting in excellent CO_(2) resistivity. This work provides valuable guidance for systematic design of efficient and durable catalysts for LT-SOFCs. 展开更多

Supported nanoparticles have attracted considerable attention as a promising catalyst for achieving unique properties in numerous applications, including fuel cells, chemical conversion, and batteries.Nanocatalysts demonstrate high activity by expanding the number of active sites, but they also intensify deactivation issues, such as agglomeration and poisoning, simultaneously.Exsolution for bottomup synthesis of supported nanoparticles has emerged as a breakthrough technique to overcome limitations associated with conventional nanomaterials.Nanoparticles are uniformly exsolved from perovskite oxide supports and socketed into the oxide support by a one-step reduction process.Their uniformity and stability, resulting from the socketed structure, play a crucial role in the development of novel nanocatalysts.Recently, tremendous research efforts have been dedicated to further controlling exsolution particles. To effectively address exsolution at a more precise level, understanding the underlying mechanism is essential. This review presents a comprehensive overview of the exsolution mechanism, with a focus on its driving force, processes, properties, and synergetic strategies,as well as new pathways for optimizing nanocatalysts in diverse applications. 展开更多

Chemical looping oxidative dehydrogenation (CL-ODH) is an economically promising method for convertingethane into higher value-added ethylene utilizing lattice oxygen in redox catalysts, also known as oxygen carriers. Inthis study, perovskite-type oxide SrCoO_(3-δ) and B-site Mn ion-doped oxygen carriers (SrCo_(1-x)MnxO_(3-δ), x=0.1, 0.2, 0.3)were prepared and tested for the CL-ODH of ethane. The oxygen-deficient perovskite SrCoO_(3-δ) exhibited high ethyleneselectivity of up to 96.7% due to its unique oxygen vacancies and lattice oxygen migration rates. However, its low ethyleneyield limits its application in the CL-ODH of ethane. Mn doping promoted the reducibility of SrCoO_(3-δ) oxygen carriers, thereby improving ethane conversion and ethylene yield, as demonstrated by characterization and evaluation experiments.X-ray diffraction results confirmed the doping of Mn into the lattice of SrCoO_(3-δ), while X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) indicated an increase in lattice oxygen ratio upon incorporation of Mn into the SrCoO_(3-δ) lattice. Additionally, H2temperature-programmed reduction (H2-TPR) tests revealed more peaks at lower temperature reduction zones and a declinein peak positions at higher temperatures. Among the four tested oxygen carriers, SrCo0.8Mn0.2O_(3-δ) exhibited satisfactoryperformance with an ethylene yield of 50% at 710 °C and good stability over 20 redox cycles. The synergistic effect of Mnplays a key role in increasing ethylene yields of SrCoO_(3-δ) oxygen carriers. Accordingly, SrCo0.8Mn0.2O_(3-δ) shows promisingpotential for the efficient production of ethylene from ethane via CL-ODH. 展开更多

Perovskite solar cells(PSCs)have made great advances in terms of power conversion efficiency(PCE),yet their subpar stability continues to hinder their commercialization. The interface between the perovskite layer and the charge-carrier transporting layers plays a crucial role in undermining the stability of PSCs.In this work,we propose a strategy to stabilize high-performance PSCs with PCE over 23%by introducing a cesium-doped graphene oxide(GO-Cs)as an interlayer between the perovskite and hole-transporting material. The GO-Cs treated PSCs exhibit excellent operational stability with a projected T80(the time where the device PCE reduces to 80%of its initial value)of 2143 h of operation at the maximum powering point under one sun illumination. 展开更多

Metal oxide charge transport materials are preferable for realizing long-term stable and potentially low-cost perovskite solar cells(PSCs).However, due to some technical difficulties(e.g.,intricate fabrication protocols,high-temperature heating process, incompatible solvents, etc.),it is still challenging to achieve efficient and reliable all-metal-oxide-based devices. Here,we developed efficient inverted PSCs(IPSCs)based on solution-processed nickel oxide(NiO_(x))and tin oxide(SnO_(2))nanoparticles,working as hole and electron transport materials respectively, enabling a fast and balanced charge transfer for photogenerated charge carriers.Through further understanding and optimizing the perovskite/metal oxide interfaces,we have realized an outstanding power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 23.5%(the bandgap of the perovskite is 1.62 eV),which is the highest efficiency among IPSCs based on all-metal-oxide charge transport materials. Thanks to these stable metal oxides and improved interface properties, ambient stability(retaining 95%of initial PCE after 1 month),thermal stability(retaining 80%of initial PCE after 2 weeks)and light stability(retaining 90%of initial PCE after 1000 hours aging)of resultant devices are enhanced significantly. In addition, owing to the low-temperature fabrication procedures of the entire device,we have obtained a PCE of over 21%for flexible IPSCs with enhanced operational stability. 展开更多

Conventional Fe-C alloy parts used in mechanical transmission and braking systems exposed to the external environment often suffer from wear and corrosion failures.Surface coating strengthening technologies have been explored to improve the surface performance and prolong service life of these parts.Among these technologies, laser cladding has shown promise in producing Fe-based alloy coatings with superior interfacial bonding properties to the Fe-C alloy substrate.Additionally, the microstructure of the Fe-based alloy coating is more uniform and the grain size is finer than that of surfacing welding, thermal spraying, and plasma cladding, and the oxide film of alloying elements on the coating surface can improve the coating performance.However,Fe-based alloy coatings produced by laser cladding typically exhibit lower hardness, lower wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and oxidation resistance compared to coatings based on Co and Ni alloys. Moreover, these coatings are susceptible to defects such as pores and cracks. To address these limitations, the incorporation of rare-earth oxides through doping in the laser cladding process has garnered significant attention. This approach has demonstrated substantial improvements in the microstructure and properties of Fe-based alloy coatings. This paper reviewed recent research on the structure and properties of laser-cladded Fe-based alloy coatings doped with various rare earth oxides, including La_(2)O_(3),CeO_(2),and Y_(2)O_(3).Specifically,it discussed the effects of rare earth oxides and their concentrations on the structure, hardness, friction, wear, corrosion, and oxidation characteristics of these coatings.Furthermore, the mechanisms by which rare earth oxides influence the coating’s structure and properties were summarized. This review aimed to serve as a valuable reference for the application and advancement of laser cladding technology for rare earth modified Fe-based alloy coatings. 展开更多

Chemical-looping oxidative dehydrogenation(CL-ODH)is a process designed for the conversion of alkanes into olefins through cyclic redox reactions, eliminating the need for gaseous O_(2).In this work,we investigated the use of Ca_(2)MnO_(4)-layered perovskites modified with NaNO_(3) dopants, serving as redox catalysts(also known as oxygen carriers),for the CL-ODH of ethane within a temperature range of 700-780℃.Our findings revealed that the incorporation of NaNO_(3) as a modifier significantly-nhanced the selectivity for-thylene generation from Ca_(2)MnO_(4).At 750℃and a gas hourly space velocity of 1300 h^(-1),we achieved an-thane conversion up to 68.17%,accompanied by a corresponding-thylene yield of 57.39%.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis unveiled that the doping NaNO_(3) onto Ca_(2)MnO_(4) not only played a role in reducing the oxidation state of Mn ions but also increased the lattice oxygen content of the redox catalyst.Furthermore, formation of NaNO_(3) shell on the surface of Ca_(2)MnO_(4) led to a reduction in the concentration of manganese sites and modulated the oxygen-releasing behavior in a step-wise manner. This modulation contributed significantly to the enhanced selectivity for ethylene of the NaNO_(3)-doped Ca_(2)MnO_(4) catalyst. These findings provide compelling evidence for the potential of Ca_(2)MnO_(4)-layered perovskites as promising redox catalysts in the context of CL-ODH reactions. 展开更多

As a hole transport layer, PEDOT:PSS usually limits the stability and efficiency of perovskite solar cells(PSCs) due to its hygroscopic nature and inability to block electrons. Here, a graphene-oxide(GO)-modified PEDOT:PSS hole transport layer was fabricated by spin-coating a GO solution onto the PEDOT:PSS surface. PSCs fabricated on a GO-modified PEDOT:PSS layer exhibited a power conversion efficiency(PCE) of 15.34%, which is higher than 11.90% of PSCs with the PEDOT:PSS layer.Furthermore, the stability of the PSCs was significantly improved, with the PCE remaining at 83.5% of the initial PCE values after aging for 39 days in air. The hygroscopic PSS material at the PEDOT:PSS surface was partlyremoved during spin-coating with the GO solution, which improves the moisture resistance and decreases the contact barrier between the hole transport layer and perovskite layer. The scattered distribution of the GO at the PEDOT:PSS surface exhibits superior wettability, which helps to form a high-quality perovskite layer with better crystallinity and fewer pin holes. Furthermore, the hole extraction selectivity of the GO further inhibits the carrier recombination at the interface between the perovskite and PEDOT:PSS layers. Therefore, the cooperative interactions of these factors greatly improve the light absorption of the perovskite layer, the carrier transport and collection abilities of the PSCs, and especially the stability of the cells. 展开更多

High-temperature solid-state electrolyte is a key component of several important electrochemical devices, such as oxygen sensors for automobile exhaust control, solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs) for power generation, and solid oxide electrolysis cells for H_(2) production from water electrolysis or CO_(2) electrochemical reduction to value-added chemicals. In particular, internal diffusion of protons or oxygen ions is a fundamental and crucial issue in the research of SOFCs,hypothetically based on either oxygen-ionconducting electrolytes or proton-conducting electrolytes.Up to now, some electrolyte materials based on fluorite or perovskite structure were found to show certain degree of dual-ion transportation capability, while in available electrolyte database, particularly in the field of SOFCs,such dual-ion conductivity was seriously overlooked.Actually, few concerns arising to the simultaneous proton and oxygen-ion conductivities in electrolyte of SOFCs inevitably induce various inadequate and confusing results in literature.Understanding dual-ion transportation behavior in electrolyte is indisputably of great importance to explain some unusual fuel cell performance as reported in literature and enrich the knowledge of solid state ionics. On the other hand, exploration of novel dual-ion conducting electrolytes will benefit the development of SOFCs.In this review,we provide a comprehensive summary of the understanding of dual-ion transportation in solid electrolyte and recent advances of dual-ion conducting SOFCs.The oxygen ion and proton conduction mechanisms at elevated temperature inside oxide-based electrolyte materials are first introduced, and then(mixed) oxygen ion and proton conduction behaviors of fluorite and perovskite-type oxides are discussed.Following on,recent advances in the development of dual-ion conducting SOFCs based on fluorite and perovskite-type single-phase or composite electrolytes, are reviewed. Finally, the challenges in the development of dual-ion conducting SOFCs are discussed and future prospects are proposed. 展开更多

The emergence of inverted perovskite solar cells(PSCs) has attached great attention derived from the potential in improving stability. Charge transporting layer, especially hole transporting layer is crucial for efficient inverted PSCs. Organic materials were used as hole transporting layer previously. Recently, more and more inorganic hole transporting materials have been deployed for further improving the device stability. Nickel oxide(NiOx) as p-type metal oxide, owning high charge mobility and intrinsic stability, has been widely adopted in inverted PSCs. High performance over 20% efficiency has been achieved on NiOx base inverted PSCs. Herein, we have summarized recent progresses and strategies on the NiOx based PSCs, including the synthesis or deposition methods of NiOx, doping and surface modification of NiOx for efficient and stable PSCs. ABO_(3)-type perovskite oxides(e.g.,LaCoO_(3))with flexible and adjustable A-and B-sites are ideal model catalysts to unravel the relationship between the electronic structure and electrocatalytic activity(e.g.,oxygen reduction/evolution reactions,ORR/OER).It has been well understood in our recent work that the secondary metal dopant at B-site(e.g.,Mn in LaMn_(x)Co_(1-x)O_(3))can regulate the electronic structure and improve the ORR/OER activity. In this work, the Mn-Ni pairs are employed as the dual dopant in LaMn_(x)Ni_(y)Co_(z)O_(3)(x+y+z=1)catalysts toward bifunctional ORR and OER.The structure-property relationships between the triple metal B-site(Mn,Ni and Co)and the electrochemical performance are particularly investigated.Compared to the individual Mn doping(e.g.,LaMnCoO3(Mn:Co=1:3)catalyst),the dual Mn-Ni doping significantly improves the ORR mass activity@0.8 V by 1.54 times;meanwhile, the OER overpotential@10 mA cm^(-2) is reduced from 420 to 370 mV,and the OER current density at 1.55 V is increased by 2.43 times.Reasonably, the potential gap between EDRR@-1 mA cm^(-2) and EDER@10 mA cm^(-2) is achieved as only 0.76 V by using the optimal LaMn_(x)Ni_(y)Co_(z)O_(3)(x:y:z=1:2:3)catalyst.It is revealed that the dual Mn-Ni dopant efficiently optimizes electron structures of the LaMnNiCoO_(3)(1:2:3)catalyst,which not only decreases the e_(g) orbital electron number, but also modulates the O 2 p-band closer to the Femi level, accounting for the enhanced bifunctional activity. 展开更多

The structural, elastic, mechanical, electronic, and optical properties of KPaO_3 and RbPaO_3 compounds are investigated from first-principles calculations by using the WIEN2 k code in the frame of local density approximation(LDA) and generalized gradient approximation(GGA).The calculated ground state quantities, such as lattice constant(α_0),ground state energy(E),bulk modulus(S),and their pressure derivative(B_p) are in reasonable agreement with the present analytical and previous theoretical results and available experimental data.Based on several elastic and mechanical parameters, the structural stability, hardness, stiffness and the brittle and ductile behaviors are discussed, which reveal that protactiniumbased oxide series of perovskites is mechanically stable and possesses weak resistance to shear deformation compared with resistance to unidirectional compression while flexible and covalent behaviors are dominated in them. The analysis of band profile through Trans-Blaha modified Becke-Johnson(TB-mBJ) potential highlights the underestimation of bandgap with traditional density functional theory(DFT) approximation.Specific contribution of electronic states is investigated by means of total and partial density of states and it can be evaluated that both compounds are(Γ-Γ) direct bandgap semiconductors. All fundamental optical properties are analyzed while attention is paid to absorption and reflection spectra to explore extensive absorptions and reflections of these compounds in high frequency regions. The present method represents an influential approach to calculating the whole set of elastic, mechanical, and opto-electronic parameters, which would conduce to the understanding of various physical phenomena and empower the device engineers to implement these materials in flexible opto-electronic applications. 展开更多

Batteries, fuel cells, and supercapacitors are electrochemical devices already on the market and still need a boost in kinetics to match the high energy density demand of applications.Perovskites have attracted the scientific community's attention in the last decade due to their electrocatalytic activity, chemical and structural properties, tunability, low cost, and scalability.Efforts have been made to understand the active sites and the operational mechanisms in perovskite oxides to shape them as an electrocatalyst in advanced energy devices.Understanding the role of perovskites is the key to engineering more controlled and efficient electrocatalysts via chemical synthesis, and there is still much to do.This review highlights the use of perovskites in different energy storage and conversion systems. The A,B,and A&B doping-site effects are analyzed to understand the opportunities and challenges related to this class of materials. In addition, the synthesis methods and the properties related to the doping site are described and summarized. 展开更多
