Purpose-Following the regional restructuring,the number of joint-venture railway companies in which the Group participates has significantly increased.This paper aims to explore the challenges faced by China Railway G...Purpose-Following the regional restructuring,the number of joint-venture railway companies in which the Group participates has significantly increased.This paper aims to explore the challenges faced by China Railway Group in managing participation in joint-venture railway companies.The study seeks to propose specific approaches to ensure the effective management of these companies,thereby maximizing the benefits of the regional restructuring and supporting the development of a strong transportation country and a modern infrastructure system.Design/methodology/approach-Based on the change in the shareholding relationship between China Railway Group and the joint-venture railway companies,and considering the current situation of the regional restructuring of these companies,as well as the insights from existing literature and typical case studies,this paper proposes some specific paths for effective management of joint-stock railway companies which China Railway Group participated in.Findings-The problems in participation management are the unclear dual leadership role of the party committee,the lack of discourse power,the lack of synergy between shareholders,the increasing risk of sustainable operation of the loss-making companies and the role of dispatched personnel is not fully played.Based on the theories,combined with the existing research and practical cases,the paper proposed specific approaches,such as perfecting top-level system design,maintaining the discourse power,carrying out differentiated management,arranging personnel rationally,arranging shareholders synergy,and innovating methods to provide references for China Railway Group’s subsequent management of joint venture railway companies.Originality/value-This paper contributes to the existing literature by providing a comprehensive analysis of the challenges faced by China Railway Group in managing participation in joint-venture railway companies following the regional restructuring.The study offers novel insights and practical recommendations for addressing these challenges.The findings can serve as valuable references for China Railway Group’s subsequent management of joint-venture railway companies which participated in,as well as for other stateowned enterprises facing similar challenges in managing their joint ventures.展开更多

This phenomenon holds good in the Indian context also. This paper tries to report on the foreign exchange risk-management practices among Indian IT (information technology) companies. The results are consistent with expectations that foreign exchange risks faced by Indian IT companies is very high especially in the light of the recent appreciation of the rupee against the USD and most of the companies are using all the available techniques to mitigate the risks. The evidence suggests that the forward cover is the most widely used derivative instrument in managing the risks and the respondents taking part in the survey believe that the government is failing in maintaining a stable exchange rate.展开更多

It is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes. Taking ABC Software Company as an example, the performances before and after the introduction of CMMI in the firm were compared. The results indicated that after two years of application, the productivity increased 92%, and the ability of detecting errors improved 26.45% ; while the rate of faults and the cost of software development dropped 12.45% and 77.55%, respectively. To conclude, small project-based firms benefit a lot if they take CMMI into their process of innovation management, particularly for those R&D firms, since the implementation of CMMI leads them to a promising future with higher efficiency and better effects.展开更多

The research w...This paper summarizes the results of the authors' research conducted in November 2013 with the aim to analyze the organization and standards of the personnel management in the Slovak building industry. The research was based on the presumption that optimal mastering of the personnel management is a precondition of the success of each building company that wishes to be a continuously prosperous, competitive, and respected economic and social entity. Altogether, 76 small (less than 50 employees), 77 medium-sized (50-249 employees), and 21 big (250 and more employees) building companies operating in the territory of the Slovak Republic took part in the research. The results of the research showed that the concept of the personnel management in big building companies (in particular in comparison to most small companies but some medium-sized companies) was more strategic and systematic which is natural given the high numbers of employees of various professions who carry out manifold building works in a huge set of working conditions. However, from the point of view of the current economic development, all building companies have to develop their adaptability to the building market and their capability to master various building works. It is just the personnel management that is used to make it all up provided it is implemented efficiently in a purposeful way in order to keep the stable operation of the building company and satisfaction of various needs of stakeholders including but not limited to employees and clients.展开更多

The analysis has also been focused on the company's attitude to overcome the financial crisis. Secondly, the authors have analyzed if the recovery project has required the introduction of a new management control system or changes to the existing management control system. The methodology is composed of several steps. First of all, the authors have analyzed the existing literature. Secondly, the authors have referred to a sample of 98 Italian recovery projects formalized by Italian private companies. The analysis of the literature and the recovery projects permits to achieve some provisional results, which have been tested through surveys. The methodology approach is inspired by the grounded theory. The findings have been several: (1) The crisis is a usual event in the lifecycle of a firm, due to a deterioration of its strength and a change of the context; (2) The timing factor has played a fundamental role in managing the crisis situation, because a late identification of the symptoms or a minimization of them can generate an irreversible situation; and (3) In addition, a recovery project includes the introduction of a new management control system or changes to the existing management control system. These new or modified management control systems use "feed-forward" mechanisms, which make early predictions about the changes in the characteristics of the competitive framework.展开更多

On closer examination of a series of organizational charts of real estate management companies, the author observed a tendency to use organizational structures that are inefficient. The methodology is composed of several steps. First of all, the authors have analyzed the existing literature. Secondly, the authors have referred to a sample of 98 Italian recovery projects formalized by Italian private companies. The analysis of the literature and the recovery projects permits to achieve some provisional results, which have been tested through surveys. The methodology approach is inspired by the grounded theory. The findings have been several: (1) The crisis is a usual event in the lifecycle of a firm, due to a deterioration of its strength and a change of the context; (2) The timing factor has played a fundamental role in managing the crisis situation, because a late identification of the symptoms or a minimization of them can generate an irreversible situation; and (3) In addition, a recovery project includes the introduction of a new management control system or changes to the existing management control system. These new or modified management control systems use "feed-forward" mechanisms, which make early predictions about the changes in the characteristics of the competitive framework.

Management of road transport companies is, in this turbulent environment, exposed to many technical, legislative, and economic problems. Especially, the growing economic pressure leads to an urgent requirement of the manager and control system improvement. Activity-based costing (ABC) method is a very powerful tool to improve products, services, processes, and market strategies. ABC allows company management to understand what causes costs and how to manage them. Company under this scheme may get a glimpse of how efficiently a company converts the source value. The main objective of our research was to assess the possibility of application of the ABC method in a transport undertaking. ABC method as a fundamentally different view on the cost in the transport business helps to find the reasons of cost and thereby influences their levels to make better use of resources.. New managerial accounting methods aim to show management what information is needed, how and where this information can be obtained, and how they can be useful for the management of the company's proper planning, decision-making, and control. Information provided by management accounting is often a key factor in the analysis of alternative ways of solving problems. This article focuses on the transport enterprise management and helps to decide on the use of this method in business practice.
文摘The article represents research on ways to make the management of real estate companies more efficient, starting from their structural organization. The organizational structure of the enterprise is a basic component of the general structure of the company and reflects the “anatomy of the enterprise” and the way of its conception, detailing, and implementation directly influence the activities required to achieve the objectives of the enterprise. On closer examination of a series of organizational charts of real estate management companies, the author observed a tendency to use organizational structures that are inefficient. The main objectives of this article are to bring into the practice of real estate management a model of beneficial organizational structure, both for the real estate management companies and for the construction companies that, besides the building activity, also deal with the management of their own real estate, and to emphasize the particular importance of the organizational structure of the company. The appreciation of the organizational structure represents the process of knowledge, understanding, and explanation of the existing situation through a detailed analysis of the factors that influence its condition through: the enterprise development strategy;the type and complexity of services;the size of the enterprise;the quality of human resources;the changes that take place in the external environment of the company, and last but not least, the legal framework and the statutes of the enterprise.

文摘This report illustrates how management accounting can be used in helping an organization reach sustainability by applying four main tools in management accounting to a dairy company.These tools are Life-Cycle Analysis,Identification of Relevant Costs,Activity-Based Costing(ABC)System and Balancing Score Card,all of which can help qualify and consequently quantify the various costs(including environmental costs)incurred during the operation of a company.Besides that,the above tools can also be utilised in a company’s decision-making processes by the man-agement team.Thus,it is suggested that companies integrate these tools into their reporting system.This report illustrates the definition of a sustainable organization in the beginning,followed by detailed descriptions of the four management accounting tools,together with their applications to a diary company.The report ends with a summary on which type of role each tool plays in the re-porting system.
