The idea is induced by the analysis of thermomechanical dynamics (TMD) for a nonequilibrium irreversible thermodynamic system of heat engines, such as a drinking bird and a low temperature Stirling engine, resulting in thermoelectric energy generation different from conventional heat engines. The current thermoelectric energy conversion with DM-EMI can be applied to wide ranges of machines and temperature differences. The mechanism of DM-EMI energy converter is categorized as the axial flux generator (AFG), which is the reason why the technology is applicable to sensitive thermoelectric conversions. On the other hand, almost all the conventional turbines use the radius flux generator to extract huge electric power, which uses the radial flux generator (RFG). The axial flux generator is helpful for a low mechanoelectric energy conversion and activations of waste heat from macroscopic energy generators such as wind, geothermal, thermal, nuclear power plants and heat-dissipation lines. The technique of DM-EMI will contribute to solving environmental problems to maintain clean and sustainable energy as one of the energy harvesting technologies.展开更多

In this paper we study the transient dynamic characteristics of a piezoelectric energy harvesting system including a piezoelectric energy harvester, a bridge rectifier, and a storage capacitor. To accomplish this, this energy harvesting system is modeled, and the charging process of the storage capacitor is investigated by employing the in-phase assumption The results indicate that the charging voltage across the storage capacitor and the gathered power increase gradually as the charging process proceeds, whereas the charging rate slows down over time as the charging voltage approaches to the peak value of the piezoelectric voltage across the piezoelectric materials. In addition, due to the added electrical damping and the change of the system natural frequency when the charging process is initiated, a sudden drop in the vibration amplitude is observed, which in turn affects the charging rate. However, the vibration amplitude begins to increase as the charging process continues, which is caused by the decrease in the electrical damping (i.e., the decrease in the energy removed from the mechanical vibration). This electromechanical coupling characteristic is also revealed by the variation of the vibration amplitude with the charging voltage.展开更多

This paper focuses on the delay-dependent stability and added damping of SDOF systems in RTDHT. The exponential delay term is transferred into a rational fraction by the Pad6 approximation, and the delay-dependent stability conditions and instability mechanism of SDOF RTDHT systems are investigated by the root locus technique. First, the stability conditions are discussed separately for the cases of stiffness, mass, and damping experimental substructure. The use of root locus plots shows that the added damping effect and instability mechanism for mass are different from those for stiffness. For the stiffness experimental substructure case, the instability results from the inherent mode because of an obvious negative damping effect of the delay. For the mass case, the delay introduces an equivalent positive damping into the inherent mode, and instability occurs at an added high frequency mode. Then, the compound stability condition is investigated for a general case and the results show that the mass ratio may have both upper and lower limits to remain stable. Finally, a high-emulational virtual shaking table model is built to validate the stability conclusions.展开更多

If PC-based hardware architecture is convenient in this field because of its versatility, flexibility, performance, and cost, current real-time operating systems are not completely adapted to long processing with varying duration, and it is often necessary to oversize the system to guarantee fail-safe functioning. The key of establishing dynamic equations of spatial mechanism by the method is to confirm Jacobian matrix reflecting relations of all joints, nodes, and generalized coordinates, namely, relations of second-order and corresponding third-order conversion tensors. For complex motion relations of components in a parallel robot,it gives second-order and third-order conversion tensors of dynamic equations for the 6-HTRT parallel robot based on equivalent integrated finite element method. The method is suitable for the typical robots whose positions of work space and sizes of mechanism are different. The solving course of the method is simple and convenient,so the method lays the foundation of dynamic analysis for robots.展开更多

The two-body point absorbers, as a renewable energy device, have achieved a rapid development. Heave plate is used to constrain the truss’ s motion in the two-body point absorber, and the floater moves along the truss up and down. This two-body point absorber can be considered to be an essentially mass-spring-damper system. And it is well known that the heave plates have been widely used in the Spar platform to suppress the heave motions. So if the two-body point absorber can be modified to combine with offshore floating structures, this system can not only offer electric power to support operations or daily lives for the platform, but also control the large motions in the vertical plane. Following this concept, a novel tuned heave plate(THP) system is proposed for the conventional semi-submersible platform. In order to investigate the dynamic performances of the single THP, two experiments are conducted in this paper. First, the hydrodynamic coefficients of the heave plates are studied, and then the THP experiments are carried out to analyze its dynamic performance. It can be concluded that this THP is feasible and achieves the design objective.展开更多

To explore this coefficient of 7075-T651 aluminum alloy under dynamic compression, dynamic compression experiments using the Hopkinson bar under four groups of strain rates were conducted, and the temperature signals were measured by constructing a transient infrared temperature measurement system. According to stress versus strain data as well as the corresponding temperature data obtained through the experiments, the influences of the strain and the strain rate on the coefficient of plastic work converted to heat were analyzed. The experimental results show that the coefficient of plastic work converted to heat of 7075-T651 aluminum alloy is not a constant at the range of 0.85–1 and is closely related to the strain and the strain rate. The change of internal structure of material under high strain rate reduces its energy storage capacity, and makes almost all plastic work convert into heat.展开更多

A loading assembly with multiple actuators is required to impose realistic boundary conditions on physical specimens. However, such a testing system is expected to exhibit significant dynamic coupling of the actuators and suffer from time lags that are associated with the dynamics of the servo-hydraulic system, as well as control-structure interaction (CSI). One approach to reducing experimental errors considers a multi-input, multi-output (MIMO) controller design, yielding accurate reference tracking and noise rejection. In this paper, a framework for multi-axial real-time hybrid simulation (maRTHS) testing is presented. The methodology employs a real-time feedback-feedforward controller for multiple actuators commanded in Cartesian coordinates. Kinematic transformations between actuator space and Cartesian space are derived for all six-degrees-of- freedom of the moving platform. Then, a frequency domain identification technique is used to develop an accurate MIMO transfer function of the system. Further, a Cartesian-domain model-based feedforward-feedback controller is implemented for time lag compensation and to increase the robustness of the reference tracking for given model uncertainty. The framework is implemented using the 1/5th-scale Load and Boundary Condition Box (LBCB) located at the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign. To demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed methodology, a single-story frame subjected to earthquake loading is tested. One of the columns in the fraane is represented physically in the laboratory as a cantilevered steel column. For real- time execution, the numerical substructure, kinematic transformations, and controllers are implemented on a digital signal processor. Results show excellent performance of the maRTHS framework when six-degrees-of-freedom are controUed at the interface between substructures.展开更多

文摘Based on the analysis of collective activities of ant colonies, the typicalexample of swarm intelligence, a new approach to construct swarm intelligence basedmulti-agent-system (SMAS) for dynamic real-time scheduling for semiconductor wafer fab is proposed. The relevant algorithm, pheromone-based dynamic real-time scheduling algorithm (PBDR), is given.MIMAC test bed data set mini-fab is used to compare PBDR with FIFO (first in first out),SRPT(shortest remaining processing time) and CR(critical ratio) under three different release rules,i.e. deterministic rule, Poisson rule and CONWIP (constant WIP). It is shown that PBDR is prior toFIFO, SRPT and CR with better performance of cycle time, throughput, and on-time delivery, especially for on-time delivery performance.

文摘Herein,we report the victorious synthesis of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) on TiO_2 nanotubes(NTs)using a layer-by-layer(LbL) approach.Highly crystalline and homogenous thin films of MOFs were grown and characterized using XRD,SEM,FT-IR and UV/Vis spectroscopy. Moreover, the utilization of the MOF films as sensitizers was probed in bespoke Graetzel type liquid junction solar cells. The constructed cell performance revealed an I_(sc) of 1.16 mA cm^(–2),Vocof 0.63 V,FF of 0.33,and E_(ff) of 0.42%.Further,pumpprobe transient laser spectroscopy was performed to investigate the energy and charge transfer dynamics of the MOFs/TiO_2 NTs interface. The results indicated 86% injection efficiency. The ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy allows the investigation of this process and the differences between MOFs.It also showed that the relaxation of the MOF chromophores is in competition with electron injection in the Ti O2 motif. Thus this study provides a new insight into electron transfer from photoexcited metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) into titanium dioxide.

文摘In this paper a class of real-time parallel modified Rosenbrock methods of numerical simulation is constructed for stiff dynamic systems on a multiprocessor system, and convergence and numerical stability of these methods are discussed. A-stable real-time parallel formula of two-stage third-order and A(α)-stable real-time parallel formula with o ≈ 89.96° of three-stage fourth-order are particularly given. The numerical simulation experiments in parallel environment show that the class of algorithms is efficient and applicable, with greater speedup.

文摘The ultrafast carrier relaxation processes in CdTe quantum dots are investigated by femtosecond fluorescence upconversion spectroscopy.Photo-excited hole relaxing to the edge of the forbidden gap takes a maximal time of ~ 1.6 ps with exciting at 400 nm,depending on the state of the photo-excited hole. The shallow trapped states and deep trap states in the forbidden gap are confirmed for CdTe quantum dots.In addition,Auger relaxation of trapped carriers is observed to occur with a time constant of ~ 5 ps.A schematic model of photodynamics is established based on the results of the spectroscopy studies. Our work demonstrates that femtosecond fluorescence up-conversion spectroscopy is a suitable and effective tool in studying the transportation and conversion dynamics of photon energy in a nanosystem.

文摘Equivalent integrated finite element method is a canonical and efficient modeling method in dynamic analysis of complex mechanism. The solving course of the method is simple and convenient,so the method lays the foundation of dynamic analysis for robots.

文摘Dynamic path planning is crucial for mobile robots to navigate successfully in unstructured envi-ronments.To achieve globally optimal path and real-time dynamic obstacle avoidance during the movement,a dynamic path planning algorithm incorporating improved IB-RRT∗and deep reinforce-ment learning(DRL)is proposed.Firstly,an improved IB-RRT∗algorithm is proposed for global path planning by combining double elliptic subset sampling and probabilistic central circle target bi-as.Then,to tackle the slow response to dynamic obstacles and inadequate obstacle avoidance of tra-ditional local path planning algorithms, deep reinforcement learning is utilized to predict the move-ment trend of dynamic obstacles, leading to a dynamic fusion path planning. Finally, the simulation and experiment results demonstrate that the proposed improved IB-RRT∗algorithm has higher con-vergence speed and search efficiency compared with traditional Bi-RRT∗,Informed-RRT∗,and IB-RRT∗algorithms.Furthermore,the proposed fusion algorithm can effectively perform real-time obsta-cle avoidance and navigation tasks for mobile robots in unstructured environments.

文摘The real-time risk-averse dispatch problem of an integrated electricity and natural gas system(IEGS)is studied in this paper. It is formulated as a real-time conditional value-at-risk(CVaR)-based risk-averse dis-patch model in the Markov decision process framework.Because of its stochasticity, nonconvexity and nonlinearity, the model is difficult to analyze by traditional algorithms in an acceptable time.To address this non-deterministic polynomial-hard problem,a CVaR-based lookup-table approximate dynamic programming(CVaR-ADP)algo-rithm is proposed, and the risk-averse dispatch problem is decoupled into a series of tractable subproblems. The line pack is used as the state variable to describe the impact of one period’s decision on the future. This facilitates the reduction of load shedding and wind power curtailment.Through the proposed method,real-time decisions can be made according to the current information, while the value functions can be used to overview the whole opti-mization horizon to balance the current cost and future risk loss.Numerical simulations indicate that the pro-posed method can effectively measure and control the risk costs in extreme scenarios. Moreover, the decisions can be made within 10 s,which meets the requirement of the real-time dispatch of an IEGS.Index Terms—Integrated electricity and natural gas system, approximate dynamic programming,real-time dispatch,risk-averse,conditional value-at-risk.

文摘Selectivity control is a difficult scientific and industrial challenge in methanol-to-olefins(MTO)conversion.It has been experimentally established that the topology of zeolite catalysts influenced the distribution of products.Besides the topology effect on reaction kinetics, the topology influences the diffusion of reactants and products in catalysts as well.In this work,by using COMPASS force-field molecular dynamics method,we investigated the intracrystalline diffusion of ethene and propene in four different zeolites,CHA,MFI,BEA and FAU,at different temperatures. The self-diffusion coefficients and diffusion activation barriers were calculated.A strong restriction on the diffusion of propene in CHA was observed because the self-diffusion coefficient ratio of ethene to propene is larger than 18 and the diffusion activation barrier of propene is more than 20 kJ/mol in CHA.This ratio decreases with the increase of temperature in the four investigated zeolites. The shape selectivity on products from diffusion perspective can provide some implications on the understanding of the selectivity difference between HSAPO-34 and HZSM-5 catalysts for the MTO conversion.

文摘Logistical supply is costly for the deepwater oil and gas exploitation, thereby it is necessary to develop a novel power supply solution to improve the offshore structure’s self-holding capacity. It can be concluded that this THP is feasible and achieves the design objective.

文摘The plastic work-heat conversion coefficient is one key parameter for studying the work-heat conversion under dynamic deformation of materials. The change of internal structure of material under high strain rate reduces its energy storage capacity, and makes almost all plastic work convert into heat.

文摘Real-time hybrid simulation is an efficient and cost-effective dynamic testing technique for performance evaluation of structural systems subjected to earthquake loading with rate-dependent behavior. Results show excellent performance of the maRTHS framework when six-degrees-of-freedom are controUed at the interface between substructures.
文摘A class of hybrid algorithms of real-time simulation based on evaluation of non-integerstep right-hand side function are presented in this paper. And some results of the convergence and stability of the algorithms are given. Using the class of algorithms, evaluation for the right-hand side function is needed once in every integration-step. Moreover, comparing with the other methods with the same amount of work, their numerical stability regions are larger and the method errors are smaller, and the numerical experiments show that the algorithms are very effective.
