The purpose of this study was to investigate the antibacterial activity of calcium hydroxide [Ca(OH)2] combined with chitosan solutions against Enterococcus faecalis-infected root canal dentin and the effect of this new intraca- nal medicament on the bond strength of RealSeal sealer to radicular dentin. An experimental intracanal medicament was prepared by mixing different concentrations of chitosan solution (25%, 50%, and 100%, W/V) to Ca(OH)2 powder. Antibacterial activity was evaluated and the total numbers of colony forming units were determined. Bonding ability of RealSeal sealer to radicular dentin was evaluated using push-out bond strength test. Data were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey's multiple comparison tests. We found that Ca(OH)2 combined with different concentrations of chitosan solutions showed better antibacterial activity than Ca(OH)2 mixed with saline, without significantly affecting the bond strength of RealSeal sealer to radicular dentin (P 〉 0.05). The findings suggest that Ca(OH)2 combined with chitosan is a promising intracanal medicament and may be effective in endodontic therapy. 展开更多

AIM: To investigate the microleakage of two different root canal obturation systems, using the nuclear medicine approach.METHODS: Twenty-six single-rooted extracted teeth were selected. The crowns were sectioned to obtain 15-mm long root segments and each tooth was prepared using rotary Pro File instruments. The roots were divided into 2 experimental groups using Real Seal 1 and Real Seal sealer or Thermafil and Top Seal sealer as well as two control groups. On the 7th and the 28 th day the apices were submersed in a solution of 99 m TcPertechnetate during 3 h. The radioactivity was counted using a γ camera. RESULTS: The present study showed that none of the root canal-filled teeth was leakage free. The statistical analyses were made using Kruskal-Wallis and statistical significance was assessed using α = 0.05. Although apical leakage measured in counts per minute(cpm) in the Thermafil/Top Seal group was lower than in the Real Seal/Real Seal group(363 916 ± 180 707.7 cpm vs533 427 ± 414 020.6 cpm) on 7th day and(1 678 200 ± 567 217.4 cpm vs 2 240 518 ± 383 356.7 cpm) on 28 th day, there was no statistical difference(P > 0.05). In the Thermafil/Top Seal group and Real Seal 1/Real Seal group it was found that over time, the number of counts increased between 7 d and 28 d(363 916 ± 180 707.7 cpm vs 1 678 200 ± 567 217.4 cpm) and(533 427 ± 414 020.6 cpm vs 2 240 518 ± 383 356.7 cpm), respectively, with statistically significant differences(Thermafil/Top Seal group, P = 0.015 and Real Seal 1/Real Seal group, P = 0.036).CONCLUSION:Both carrier-based Realseal 1 and Thermafil techniques showed a similar sealing effect,but none of the materials was leakage free. 展开更多

目的:比较3组不同根管充填材料的根管封闭能力。方法:选择34颗双根管离体上颌恒前磨牙,随机分为A、B、C 3个实验组各10颗牙和2个对照组各2颗牙,使用TF镍钛器械预备根管,采用以下材料进行连续波根管充填,A组:04锥度Resilon主尖和Realseal... 目的:比较3组不同根管充填材料的根管封闭能力。方法:选择34颗双根管离体上颌恒前磨牙,随机分为A、B、C 3个实验组各10颗牙和2个对照组各2颗牙,使用TF镍钛器械预备根管,采用以下材料进行连续波根管充填,A组:04锥度Resilon主尖和Realseal SE糊剂,B组:04锥度牙胶尖和AH Plus糊剂,C组:04锥度牙胶尖和Cortisomol糊剂。用墨汁染色法和透明牙技术测量根尖微渗漏深度。结果:A组(0.41±0.56)mm,B组(1.20±1.74)mm,C组(1.99±2.13)mm。A组和B组的微渗漏深度无统计学差异,B组和C组的微渗漏深度无统计学差异,而A组和C组的微渗漏深度有统计学差异(P<0.01)。结论:采用连续波根管充填时,Resilon/RealsealSE的根管封闭能力优于牙胶尖/Cortisomol糊剂,而与牙胶尖/AH Plus糊剂无显著性差异。 展开更多

目的探讨不同根管充填系统对牙根抗折性能的影响。方法将68颗单根管前磨牙由釉牙骨质界处截冠,随机分为4组。A、B、C组手动Protaper根管锉冠向下预备法预备根管至F3号及对照组。A组Cortisomol糊剂和牙胶尖冷侧压法充填根管;B组Cortisomo... 目的探讨不同根管充填系统对牙根抗折性能的影响。方法将68颗单根管前磨牙由釉牙骨质界处截冠,随机分为4组。A、B、C组手动Protaper根管锉冠向下预备法预备根管至F3号及对照组。A组Cortisomol糊剂和牙胶尖冷侧压法充填根管;B组Cortisomol糊剂和System B&ObturaⅡ热牙胶垂直加压法充填根管;C组RealSeal根充系统冷侧压法充填根管。对照组不予处理。将所得标本制成试件,置于万能材料试验机上加压至牙根折裂,记录牙根折裂时的瞬间压力值。体视显微镜下观察A、B、C3组标本断裂界面的断裂模式。结果对照组压力值(380.65±20.83)N明显高于A组(231.36±11.12)N、B组(236.88±12.87)N及C组(275.96±21.51)N(P<0.05),C组压力平均值明显高于A、B组(P<0.05)。A、B组标本的断裂模式以封闭剂与牙本质界面的断裂为主。C组标本的断裂模式以混合型断裂为主,差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论与其他两种根充系统相比,RealSeal根充系统能增强牙根抗折能力。 展开更多
