Environmental Impact Assessment of Onshore Wind Farms in the Region of Central Greece Using a Modified RIAM Method

Wind energy is one of the most basic forms of renewable energy,which shows an increasing rate of development worldwide and also at the European level.However,this rapid deployment of wind farms makes the need for an impact assessment of this type of projects on the natural and man-made environment imperative.The present paper aims to identify and assess the environmental impacts of wind farm projects in the Region of Central Greece.A modified Rapid Impact Assessment Matrix(RIAM)method is used for this purpose.The methodology includes the identification of the existing onshore wind farm projects in the study area,the appropriate modifications of the RIAM method to respond to the characteristics of the projects and the study area,the qualitative assessment of their potential impacts during construction and operational phases and the computation of the Environmental Performance Grade(EPG)of projects based on the pro-posed modified RIAM method.The results reveal that although there are some slight negative impacts on the natural environment of the study area,the examined wind farms contribute positively both to the atmosphere and to the socio-economic environment of the study.This study extends the potential for using RIAM as a tool in environmental impact assessment studies of renewable energy projects. 展开更多

In arid regions, large-scale water diversion from rivers leads to significant changes in river flow regimes, which may have large impacts on ecological water uses of river-dependent ecosystems, such as river, lake, wetland, and riparian ecosystems. To assess the integrated impact of water diversion on ecological water uses, we proposed a hierarchy evaluation model composed of four layers representing the evaluation goal, sub-areas of the influenced region, evaluation criteria, and water diversion schemes, respectively. The evaluation criteria for different types of ecological water uses were proposed, and the analytical hierarchy process was used for the integrated assessment. For a river ecosystem, the percentage of mean annual flow was used to define the grade of environmental flow. For a lake ecosystem, water recharge to the lake to compensate the lake water losses was used to assess the ecological water use of a lake. The flooding level of the wetland and the groundwater level in the riparian plain were used to assess the wetland and riparian ecological water uses, respectively. The proposed model was applied to a basin in northern Xinjiang in northwest China, where both water diversion and inter-basin water transfer projects were planned to be carried out. Based on assessment results for the whole study area and two sub-areas, an appropriate scheme was recommended from four planning schemes. With the recommended scheme, ecological water uses of the influenced ecosystems can be maintained at an acceptable level. Meanwhile, economical water requirements can be met to a great extent. 展开更多

Because that the height of wind power generator generally exceeds 100 m,and visual range in plain region is farther,it is necessary to scientifically and rationally evaluate and analyze landscape visual environment impact of wind power generator in plain region. One wind power farm project of Zhanjiang is located in typical plain region of Guangdong coast. Referring to traditional analytic method of landscape visual impact and comparing with actual situation for the same kind of project in the region,results show that it is " extremely sensitive" area at 0- 2. 5 km from wind power generator, " very sensitive" area at 2. 5- 5. 0 km, " sensitive" area at 5- 10 km, "generally sensitive" area at 10- 20 km,and non-sensitive area outside 20 km. 展开更多

Development is an ever growing process and its impact is often detrimental to environment which in turn may lead to adverse consequences for human life. Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) is an anticipatory and participatory environment management tool which helps in the decision-making process for different upcoming development projects by analyzing the environmental consequences of the action. The large scale projects like setting up of Special Investment Regions (SIR), Special Economic Zones (SEZ) and Industrial Estates (IE) have cumulative impacts on the environmental condition of the region. This paper intends to describe different practices of impact assessment and seeks to direct this debate towards the potential benefits of applying Regional EIA over the project specific EIA to capture the cumulative impact of large development projects like SIRs and IE on the environmental condition of the region and underline the challenges often faced during the study. Regional EIA is a new concept in India and the process of development of an SIR is different from the other industrial projects such as SEZ or IE. Unlike SEZ which comprises of only industrial activity, SIR also includes residential commercial and other amenities over an area of more than 100 square kilometers. Further, the implementation of Regional EIA in Indian context is also constrained by problem in baseline data collection and lack of exhaustive ecological and socioeconomic indicators for impact assessment and restricted use of state of art technologies such as Geographical Information System due to many factors such as cost involved and lack of awareness among consultants. 为探明覆膜水稻生命周期过程的资源消耗和环境影响,本研究基于2021—2022两年的田间试验对东北地区覆膜水稻进行生命周期评价。结果表明:仅考虑资源消耗、气候变化和环境酸化的情况下,覆PE膜旱直播水稻的环境影响潜值更小,对环境更友好... 为探明覆膜水稻生命周期过程的资源消耗和环境影响,本研究基于2021—2022两年的田间试验对东北地区覆膜水稻进行生命周期评价。结果表明:仅考虑资源消耗、气候变化和环境酸化的情况下,覆PE膜旱直播水稻的环境影响潜值更小,对环境更友好。东北地区覆PE膜育秧移栽水稻能源消耗、水资源消耗、气候变化、环境酸化、富营养化和生态毒性6个环境影响指标对应的环境影响潜值分别为14046.40 MJ、957082.47 kg、1663.15 kg CO_(2)-eq、8.70 kg SO_(2)-eq、1.84 kg PO^(3-)_(4)-eq和57.05 kg 1,4-DCB-eq;东北地区覆PE膜旱直播水稻这6个环境影响指标对应的环境影响潜值分别为11990.32 MJ、312102.92 kg、1071.41 kg CO_(2)-eq、6.85 kg SO_(2)-eq、1.88 kg PO^(3-)_(4)-eq和73.75 kg 1,4-DCB-eq。造成资源消耗和气候变化的主要原因是氮肥和燃油的生产及使用,另外地膜生产和滴灌设备的生产也对环境造成了较大的影响。研究表明,水稻清洁生产的关键在于农资产品生产技术的优化和氮肥的合理施用。在两种覆膜水稻栽培方式中,覆膜旱直播水稻造成的环境影响更低,更适合我国农业绿色低碳发展。 展开更多

生态适宜性分析尽管在城市和区域生态规划中得到了广泛应用,然而在自然保护区、风景名胜区等涉及重要生态敏感区诸如旅游开发的空间布局和选址,以及规划和项目生态环境影响评价问题上,由于缺少系统的评价技术方法体系,却没有得到较好的... 生态适宜性分析尽管在城市和区域生态规划中得到了广泛应用,然而在自然保护区、风景名胜区等涉及重要生态敏感区诸如旅游开发的空间布局和选址,以及规划和项目生态环境影响评价问题上,由于缺少系统的评价技术方法体系,却没有得到较好的推广。因此,提出了一种适用于山岳型生态敏感区旅游开发空间适宜性评价及生态制图的方法体系,并以内蒙古五当召风景旅游区为例,通过对地形地势、坡度坡向、土壤环境、植被覆盖、水文水系、地质岩性等因子及其反映出的水土流失、地质灾害、生物多样性和防洪排涝4种典型生态敏感要素的分析,开展了该方法的案例研究。最后,在以上单因子和综合因子的生态敏感性分析及空间适宜性制图基础上,通过与案例研究区各项旅游开发活动的空间布局进行叠合,针对性地提出了项目规划布局的调整建议和具体的生态保护措施。此外,该方法由于系统综合的考虑了影响山岳型生态敏感区开发建设活动中的各种生态敏感因子,并通过生态制图的方式在空间上得以显示,将有助于涉及生态敏感区项目的决策和管理部门更加有效地开展生态风险的防治并制定相应的监管措施,同时也为涉及该类型区域的生态环境影响评价提供科学有效的技术方法。 展开更多

探讨了大气环境监测点位的布设方法,在区域规划环境影响评价布设大气监测点位时,应综合考虑开发区的功能区划分、区内产业分布及环境敏感点分布等情况;结合规划区内外现状及规划实施后重点污染源的位置及排放高度,根据区域污染气象条件... 探讨了大气环境监测点位的布设方法,在区域规划环境影响评价布设大气监测点位时,应综合考虑开发区的功能区划分、区内产业分布及环境敏感点分布等情况;结合规划区内外现状及规划实施后重点污染源的位置及排放高度,根据区域污染气象条件,采用Gauss模式预测最大浓度落地点,并以此作为区域大气环境监测点的布设依据。对某区域开发规划案例进行了大气环境监测点位布设研究,通过实践,该布设方法不仅可以反映区域大气环境质量现状的空间分布特征,而且可以为区域大气环境预测提供良好的数据支持,为优化区域规划提供依据;同时,对规划后的污染源最大浓度落地点的监测,可以为单个项目的环境预测提供背景值,起到简化入区建设项目环评的作用。 展开更多
