A new suitable planting area of flue-cured tobacco was determined by comparison and analysis, with consideration of excellent area. [Method] Totaling thirty natural factors were chosen, which were clas- sified into nine categories, from Longpeng Town (LP) and Shaochong Town (SC) in Shiping County in Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture. [Result] According to weights, the factors from high to low were as follows: soil〉light〉elevation〉slope〉 water conservancy〉transport〉baking facility〉planting plans over the years〉others. The similarity of geographical conditions in the area was 0.894 3, which indicated that the planting conditions in the two regions are similar. If farmer population in unit area, farmland quantity for individual farmer, labors in every household, activity in planting flue-cured tobacco and work of local instructor were considered, the weights of different factors were as follows: farmer population in unit area〉farmland quantity for individual farmer〉farmers' activity in planting flue-cured tobacco〉educational back- ground〉labor force in every household〉instructor〉population of farmers' children at- tending school. The similarity of geographical conditions was 0.703 1, which indicated that it is none-natural factors that influence yield and quality of flue-cured tobacco. [Conclusion] According to analysis on suitable planting area of flue-cured tobacco based on assessment of spatial scene similarity, similarity of growing conditions in two spatial scenes can be analyzed and evaluated, which would promote further exploration on, influencing factors and effects on tobacco production.展开更多
This article presents a method for the description of key points using simple statistics for regions controlled by neighboring key points to remedy the gap in existing descriptors.Usually,the existent descriptors such...This article presents a method for the description of key points using simple statistics for regions controlled by neighboring key points to remedy the gap in existing descriptors.Usually,the existent descriptors such as speeded up robust features(SURF),Kaze,binary robust invariant scalable keypoints(BRISK),features from accelerated segment test(FAST),and oriented FAST and rotated BRIEF(ORB)can competently detect,describe,and match images in the presence of some artifacts such as blur,compression,and illumination.However,the performance and reliability of these descriptors decrease for some imaging variations such as point of view,zoom(scale),and rotation.The intro-duced description method improves image matching in the event of such distor-tions.It utilizes a contourlet-based detector to detect the strongest key points within a specified window size.The selected key points and their neighbors con-trol the size and orientation of the surrounding regions,which are mapped on rec-tangular shapes using polar transformation.The resulting rectangular matrices are subjected to two-directional statistical operations that involve calculating the mean and standard deviation.Consequently,the descriptor obtained is invariant(translation,rotation,and scale)because of the two methods;the extraction of the region and the polar transformation techniques used in this paper.The descrip-tion method introduced in this article is tested against well-established and well-known descriptors,such as SURF,Kaze,BRISK,FAST,and ORB,techniques using the standard OXFORD dataset.The presented methodology demonstrated its ability to improve the match between distorted images compared to other descriptors in the literature.展开更多
A novel multivariate similarity clustering analysis (MSCA) approach was used to estimate a biogeographical division scheme for the global terrestrial fauna and was compared against other widely used clustering algorit...A novel multivariate similarity clustering analysis (MSCA) approach was used to estimate a biogeographical division scheme for the global terrestrial fauna and was compared against other widely used clustering algorithms. The faunal dataset included almost all terrestrial and freshwater fauna, a total of 4631 families, 141,814 genera, and 1,334,834 species. Our findings demonstrated that suitable results were only obtained with the MSCA method, which was associated with distinct hierarchies, reasonable structuring, and furthermore, conformed to biogeographical criteria. A total of seven kingdoms and 20 sub-kingdoms were identified. We discovered that the clustering results for the higher and lower animals did not differ significantly, leading us to consider that the analysis result is convincing as the first zoogeographical division scheme for global all terrestrial animals.展开更多

The existence of shadow leads to the degradation of the image qualities and the defect of ground object information.Shadow removal is therefore an essential research topic in image processing filed.The biggest challen...The existence of shadow leads to the degradation of the image qualities and the defect of ground object information.Shadow removal is therefore an essential research topic in image processing filed.The biggest challenge of shadow removal is how to restore the content of shadow areas correctly while removing the shadow in the image.Paired regions for shadow removal approach based on multi-features is proposed, in which shadow removal is only performed on related sunlit areas.Feature distance between regions is calculated to find the optimal paired regions with considering of multi-features(texture, gradient feature, etc.) comprehensively.Images in different scenes with peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR) and structural similarity(SSIM) evaluation indexes are chosen for experiments.The results are shown with six existing comparison methods by visual and quantitative assessments, which verified that the proposed method shows excellent shadow removal effect, the brightness, color of the removed shadow area, and the surrounding non-shadow area can be naturally fused.展开更多
Ventilation system is significant in underground metal mine of alpine region.Reasonable evaluation of ventilation effectiveness will lead to a practical improvement for the maintenance and management of ventilation sy...Ventilation system is significant in underground metal mine of alpine region.Reasonable evaluation of ventilation effectiveness will lead to a practical improvement for the maintenance and management of ventilation system.However,it is difficult to make an effective evaluation of ventilation system due to the lack of classification criteria with respect to underground metal mine in alpine region.This paper proposes a novel evaluation method called the cloud model-clustering analysis(CMCA).Cloud model(CM)is utilized to process collected data of ventilation system,and they are converted into cloud descriptors by CM.Cloud similarity(CS)based Euclidean distance(ED)is proposed to make clustering analysis of assessed samples.Then the classification of assessed samples will be identified by clustering analysis results.A case study is developed based on CMCA.Evaluation results show that ventilation effectiveness can be well classified.Moreover,CM is used alone to make comparison of evaluation results obtained by CMCA.Then the availability and validity of CMCA is verified.Meanwhile,difference of CS based ED and classical ED is analyzed.Two new clustering analysis methods are introduced to make comparison with CMCA.Then the ability of proposed CMCA to meet evaluation requirements of ventilation system is verified.展开更多
Owing to the constraints on the fabrication ofγ-ray coding plates with many pixels,few studies have been carried out onγ-ray computational ghost imaging.Thus,the development of coding plates with fewer pixels is ess...Owing to the constraints on the fabrication ofγ-ray coding plates with many pixels,few studies have been carried out onγ-ray computational ghost imaging.Thus,the development of coding plates with fewer pixels is essential to achieveγ-ray computational ghost imaging.Based on the regional similarity between Hadamard subcoding plates,this study presents an optimization method to reduce the number of pixels of Hadamard coding plates.First,a moving distance matrix was obtained to describe the regional similarity quantitatively.Second,based on the matrix,we used two ant colony optimization arrangement algorithms to maximize the reuse of pixels in the regional similarity area and obtain new compressed coding plates.With full sampling,these two algorithms improved the pixel utilization of the coding plate,and the compression ratio values were 54.2%and 58.9%,respectively.In addition,three undersampled sequences(the Harr,Russian dolls,and cake-cutting sequences)with different sampling rates were tested and discussed.With different sampling rates,our method reduced the number of pixels of all three sequences,especially for the Russian dolls and cake-cutting sequences.Therefore,our method can reduce the number of pixels,manufacturing cost,and difficulty of the coding plate,which is beneficial for the implementation and application ofγ-ray computational ghost imaging.展开更多
