In addition, we assessed the regional gravity field and its variation the half-year before the earthquake. We use first different interpolation algorithms to build a grid for the gravity data and then introduce potential field interpolation-cutting separation techniques and adaptive noise filtering. The results suggest that the gravity filed at the focal depth of 11.12 km separated from the total gravity field at about -400-150 ×10^-8 m/s^2 in the second half of 2015, which is larger than that in the same period in 2011 to 2014 (±30×10^-8 m/s^2). Moreover, at the same time, the gravity field changed fast from September 2014 to May 2015 and May 2015 to September 2015, reflecting to some extent material migration deep in the crust before the Menyuan earthquake.展开更多

The experimental results show that the particle-accumulated layer is formed in the periphery of the solidified specimen when the diameter of the separated molten metal, the magnetic induction intensity and the separation time are 10 mm, 0.04 T and 1 s, respectively. When the separation time is 2 s, the particle-accumulated layer can be observed obviously and the separation efficiency is about 80%. There are few alumina particles in the inner of the solidified specimen when the separation time is 3 s. The separation efficiency higher than 85% can be achieved when the separation time is longer than 3 s. When the magnetic induction intensity is 0.06 T, the visible particle-accumulated layer can be formed in 1 s and the separation efficiency is higher than 95%. The experimental results were compared with the calculated results at last.展开更多

A clear change of resistance up to 220% was observed and the characteristic metal-insulator transition temperature Tp was also shifted. The changes of both the resistance and Tp, suggest that the electric field induced not only tuning of the carrier density but also rebalancing of the phase separation states. The change of the charge-ordered insulating phase fraction was estimated to be temperature dependent, and a maximum of 16% was achieved in the phase separation regime. This tuning effect was partially irreversible, which might be due to an oxygen vacancy migration that is driven by the huge applied electric field.展开更多

When a laser pulse interacts with a target, relativistic electrons are generated in a period of few femtoseconds and driven away by the ponderomotive force, then a huge charge-separation field forms. In general cases, the ion acceleration is determined by this charge-separation field and the scale length of the plasma density. A general time-dependent solution is obtained to describe laser-plasma isothermal expansions into a vacuum, which is the fundamental theory of the laser-ion acceleration. It is adequate for non-quasi-neutral plasmas and different types of the scale length of the density gradient. The previous solutions are some special cases of our general solution. It is found that there exist both a compression layer of the ion velocity distribution and a potential well for sorue initial conditions. However, many unaccounted idiographic solutions, which may be used to reveal new mechanisms of ion acceleration, may be deduced from our general solutions.展开更多

The final morphology ofγ' andθis similar in spatial alignment, but the volume fraction ofγ' phase increases and that ofθdecreases as the Al concentration increases. For the small elastic interactions of early-stage phase separation, the coarsening ofγ' andθcan be approximated by a linear growth law as predicated by Lifshitz and Slyozov and Wangner (LSW) theory. As the elastic interactions increase at late-stage coarsening, the growth rate decreases, and the growth presents quick increase at early-stage and slows down at late-stage.展开更多

The Kelvin–Voigt equations are employed to calculate the sound field created by focusing a 256-element planar phased array through a monkey skull with the time-reversal method. Mode conversions between compressional and shear waves exist in the skull. Therefore, the wave field separation method is introduced to calculate the contributions of the two waves to the acoustic intensity and the heat source, respectively. The Pennes equation is used to depict the temperature field induced by ultrasound. Five computational models with the same incident angle of 0?and different distances from the focus for the skull and three computational models at different incident angles and the same distance from the focus for the skull are studied. Numerical results indicate that for all computational models, the acoustic intensity at the focus with mode conversions is 12.05%less than that without mode conversions on average. For the temperature rise, this percentage is 12.02%. Besides, an underestimation of both the acoustic intensity and the temperature rise in the skull tends to occur if mode conversions are ignored. However, if the incident angle exceeds 30?, the rules of the over-and under-estimation may be reversed. Moreover, shear waves contribute 20.54% of the acoustic intensity and 20.74% of the temperature rise in the skull on average for all computational models. The percentage of the temperature rise in the skull from shear waves declines with the increase of the duration of the ultrasound.展开更多

To investigate the cold mass fraction’s effect on the temperature separation, the numerical calculation was carried out using an algebraic Reynolds stress model (ASM) and the standard k-ε model. The modelling of turbulence of com-pressible, complex flows used in the simulation is discussed. Emphasis is given to the derivation of the ASM for 2D axisymmet-rical flows, particularly to the model constants in the algebraic Reynolds stress equations. The TEFESS code, based on a staggered Finite Volume approach with the standard k-ε model and first-order numerical schemes, was used to carry out all the computations. The predicted results for strongly swirling turbulent compressible flow in a vortex tube suggested that the use of the ASM leads to better agreement between the numerical results and experimental data, while the k-ε model cannot capture the stabilizing effect of the swirl.展开更多
