The relativistic mean-field models tested in previous works against nuclear matter experimental values, critical parameters and macroscopic stellar properties are revisited and used in the evaluation of the symmetry energyγ parameter obtained in three different ways. We have checked that, independent of the choice made to calculate theγ values, a trend of linear correlation is observed between γ and the symmetry energy(S0) and a more clear linear relationship is established between γ and the slope of the symmetry energy(L0). These results directly contribute to the arising of other linear correlations between γ and the neutron star radii of R(1.0) and R(1.4), in agreement with recent findings. Finally, we have found that short-range correlations induce two specific parametrizations, namely,IU-FSU and DD-MEδ, simultaneously compatible with the neutron star mass constraint of 1.93≤M(max)/M☉≤2.05 and with the overlap band for the L0 ×S0 region, to present γ in the range of γ=0.25±0.05. 展开更多

Based on the current measurement of the neutron distribution radius(R_(n))of ^(208)Pb from the PREX-2 data,we revisited the recently developed G3 and IOPB-I force parameters by fine-tuning some specific couplings within the relativistic mean-field(RMF)model.Theω-ρ-mesons coupling and theρ-meson coupling are constrained to the experimental neutron radius of^(208)Pb without compromising the bulk properties of finite nuclei and infinite nuclear matter observables. The modified parameter sets are applied to calculate the gross properties of finite nuclei such as binding energies, charge distributions, nuclear radii, pairing gaps, and single-particle energies. The root-mean-square deviations in binding energy and charge radius are estimated with respect to the available experimental data for 195 even-even nuclei, and the results compare favourably with the well-calibrated effective interactions of Skyrme,Gogny and other relativistic mean-field parametrizations. The pairing gap estimations for modified G3 and IOPB-I for Sn isotopes are also compared with the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov calculation with the Gogny(D1S)interaction.The isotopic shift and single-particle energy spacing are also calculated and compared with the experimental data for both original and modified versions of the G3 and IOPB-I parameter sets.Subsequently, both the modified parameter sets are used to obtain the various infinite nuclear matter observables at saturation. In addition to these, the force parameters are adopted to calculate the properties of a high isospin asymmetry dense system such as neutron star matter and tested for validation using the constraint from GW170817 binary neutron star merger events. The tuned forces predict relatively good results for finite and infinite nuclear matter systems and the current limitation on the neutron radius from PREX-2.A systematic analysis using these two refitted parameter sets over the nuclear chart will be communicated shortly. 展开更多

In this paper we compute general-relativistic polytropic models simulating rigidly rotating, pulsating neutron stars. These relativistic compact objects, with a radius of ~10 km and mass between ~1.4 and 3.2 solar masses, are closely related to pulsars. We emphasize on computing the change in the pulsation eigenfrequencies owing to a rigid rotation, which, in turn, is a decisive issue for studying stability of such objects. In our computations, we keep rotational perturbation terms of up to second order in the angular velocity. 展开更多

Electrocatalysis is undergoing a renaissance due to its central importance for a sustainable energy economy, relying on green(electro-)chemical processes to harvest, convert, and store energy.Theoretical considerations by electronic structure methods are key to identify potential material motifs for electrocatalytic processes at the solid/liquid interface. Most commonly, heuristic concepts in the realm of materials screening by the compilation of volcano plots are used, which rely on a plethora of simplifications and approximations of the complex electrochemical interface. While the investigation of the catalytic processes at the solid/liquid interface mainly relies on descriptor-based approaches,in the present future article it is discussed that the inclusion of the liquid part of the interface by mean-field models is crucial to elevate screening approaches to the next level. 展开更多

We develop a relativistic nuclear structure model, relativistic consistent angular-momentum projected shell-model (RECAPS), which combines the relativistic mean-field theory with the angular-momentum projection method. In this new model, nuclear ground-state properties are first calculated consistently using relativistic mean-field (RMF) theory. Then angular momentum projection method is used to project out states with good angular momentum from a few important configurations. By diagonalizing the hamiltonian, the energy levels and wave functions are obtained. This model is a new attempt for the understanding of nuclear structure of normal nuclei and for the prediction of nuclear properties of nuclei far from stability. In this paper, we will describe the treatment of the relativistic mean field. A computer code, RECAPS-RMF, is developed. It solves the relativistic mean field with axial-symmetric deformation in the spherical harmonic oscillator basis. Comparisons between our calculations and existing relativistic mean-field calculations are made to test the model. These include the ground-state properties of spherical nuclei 16O and 208Pb, the deformed nucleus 20Ne. Good agreement is obtained. 展开更多

Effects of excluded volume of nucleons on nuclear matter are studied, and the nuclear properties that follow from different relativistic mean-field model parametrizations are compared. We show that, for all tested parametrizations, the resulting volume energy al and the symmetry energy J are around the acceptable values of 16 MeV and 30 MeV, and the density symmetry L is around 100 MeV. On the other hand, models that consider only linear terms lead to incompressibility Ko much higher than expected. For most parameter sets there exists a critical point (pc, δc), where the minimum and the maximum of the equation of state are coincident and the incompressibility equals zero. This critical point depends on the excluded volume parameter r. If this parameter is larger than 0.5 fm, there is no critical point and the pure neutron matter is predicted to be bound. The maximum value for neutron star mass is 1.85M⊙, which is in agreement with the mass of the heaviest observed neutron star 4U0900-40 and corresponds to r = 0.72 fm. We also show that the light neutron star mass (1.2M⊙) is obtained for r ≌ 0.9 fro. 展开更多

The relativistic regular and irregular Coulomb wave functions are calculated numerically. We calculate the binding energies of Ni, Cu, Xe, Cs, Pt, Au, Np, Pu isotope chains using two interaction parameter sets NL-3 and NL-Z, and compared the relative errors of the even-even nuclei with those of odd-even nuclei and odd-odd nuclei. We find that the errors of binding energy of odd-even and odd-odd nuclei are not bigger than the one of even-even nuclei. The result shows that comparing with even-even nuclei, there is no systematic error and approximation in the calculations of the binding energy of odd-even and odd-odd nuclei with relativistic mean-field theory. In addition, the result is explained theoretically. 展开更多

We study contributions of the pion meson and spatial component of the omega meson in the odd-A carbon isotopes. The pion and spatial omega provide small attractions in odd-A nuclei, giving rise to considerable influences on the single-particle energies rather than the bulk properties such as total binding energies, and root-mean-square (rms) radii. The ±? (spin) splittings, arising from the spatial omega, are large in 11C and 13C and drop as the isospin rises in odd-A carbon isotopes. As an isovector, the pion can shift slightly the relative potential depth of neutron and proton, contrary to the role of the rho meson. There is a general trend that both the pion and spatial omega fields reduce with the rise of isospin in the isotopic chain. From the normal nucleus to halo nucleus, an abnormal drop of the pion or spatial omega field may occur, as can be seen in 19C, 15C, and 21C. 展开更多

Based on relativistic constituent quark (RCQ) model, the electric and magnetic form factors are analyzed. The ratio of the two form factors for the proton , which is an image of its charge and magnetization distributions, is calculated in the light-front formulism of RCQ model. Recently, this ratio was measured at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) using the polarization technique. The new data presented span the range and are well described by a linear Q2 fit. Also, the ratio reaches a constant value while Q2 becomes larger than 2 (GeV)2. Simultaneous reaction and diffusion models were developed. The asymptotic limits of first and zeroth order in Michaelis and Menten kinetics was used in the study. Parabolic Fick diffusion and hyperbolic damped wave diffusion were studied separately. Method of relativistic transformation was used in order to obtain the solution for the hyperbolic model. Model solutions was used to obtain mass inertial times. Convective boundary condition was used. Sharma number (mass) may be used in evaluating the importance of the damped wave diffusion process in relation to other processes such as convection, Fick steady diffusion in the given application. Four regimes can be identified in the solution of hyperbolic damped wave diffusion model. These are;1) Zero Transfer Inertial Regime, 0 0≤τ≤τinertia;2) Rising Regime during times greater than inertial regime and less than at the wave front, Xp > τ, 3) at Wave front , τ = Xp;4) Falling Regime in open Interval, of times greater than at the wave front, τ > Xp. Method of superposition of steady state concentration and transient concentration used in both solutions of parabolic and hyperbolic models. Expression for steady state concentration developed. Closed form analytic model solutions developed in asymptotic limits of Michaelis and Menten kinetic at zeroth order and first order. Expression for Penetration Length Derived-Hypoxia Explained. Expression for Inertial Lag Time Derived. Solution was obtained by the method of separation of variables for transient for parabolic model and by the method of relativistic transformation for hyperbolic models. Thermodynamic properties of the mixed spin-1 and spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg model are studied on a honeycomb lattice using a new approach in the mean-field approximation to analyze the effects of longitudinal Dz and transverse Dx crystal fields. The phase diagrams are calculated in detail by studying the thermal variations of the order parameters, i.e., magnetizations and quadrupole moments, and compared with the literature to assess the reliability of the new approach. It is found that the model yields both second- and first-order phase transitions, and tricritical points. The compensation behavior of the model is also investigated for the sublattice magnetizations, and longitudinal and transverse quadrupolar moments. The latter type of compensation is observed in the literature but its possible importance is overlooked. 展开更多
